Reviews for Doolin Hostel
Review 1:The first night I arrived, the car park was full, but I guess thats a sign of how popular this place is!
Review 2:Doolin hostel was an ideal place for us to stay on our weekend there. The room (triple) was spotless, comfy and warm and had nice ensuite. Its set in the middle of Doolin "village" so within walking distance of all the pubs, and about 5 mins walk from the start of the Doolin cliff walk trail. Breakfast was busy, but well run, with attentive staff always on-hand topping things up. The cafe is a great service to have, as it was nice to return after a days walking to grab a coffee or a pizza. The pizza we had was delicious. The common room had ample space, and the lovely log burner in there was a really nice, welcoming touch. Would definitely return to stay again here when in Doolin.
Review 3:Not great value for couples, Works out similar price to hotel/B&B if you don't use all beds in the rooms!
Review 4:Nice staff. We didn't get to try the pizza but cafe was nice. Good location. Bit more than basic hostel, nice rooms. Basic breakfast
Review 5:Unfortunately the bunk bed was very uncomfortable -- even for a hostel bed -- so I did not feel at all rested on departure.
Review 6:Doolin Hostel was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. It's very convenient to the coast and the Cliffs of Moher.
Review 7:A little noisy due to doors that lead into room halls. I think you could request a room at the end of the hall to avoid hearing opening and closing of these doors.
Review 8:Delighted and surprised by the quality and roominess breakfast was high quality too.
Review 9:The staff were very friendly, the private room was clean if a bit spartan. Location in EASY walking distance of several pubs and other interesting destinations. Breakfast was Continental but a nice spread.
Review 10:The hostel is well worth the money. The private double bed room was clean, quiet and in reasonable size. The hostel kitchen was clean and we cooked our dinner using it. There is a lot of parking area and the closest pub is 2 min walking. Note - the nearest supermarket is 15-20 min drive.
Review 11:The shower was a bit annoying as its an open shower but it was fine
Review 12:Private rooms have everything you need and are comfortable. Access to kitchen anx lounge should you need it. Nicely located to shops, restaurants and pubs.
Review 13:No hairdryer (as foreseen in the package), water running out of shower cabin even with closed door, no breakfast available before 7.45 am
Review 14:Great breakfast, friendly staff
Review 15:The wifi didn't work in the dorm.
Review 16:I had a great first time experience in a hostel. I liked the convenient cafe downstairs, the kitchen, and the location.
Review 17:Beds were a little creaky and could do with more toilets/showers for the rooms that aren't ensuite. No major problems though!
Review 18:Really friendly staff, great location (2 minutes from the pub!) and nice relaxed atmosphere.
Review 19:Wszystko!!! Opinię wyraziłam na profilu Doolin Hostel na Facebook. The best Hostel which I have ever seen!!! And where I have ever been!!! Very nice staff, everything Was clean, perfect sitting room with games, books, puzzles - whatever you like! Tasty breakfast!!! And you can eat how much you can :)) there Is also computer for customers, doesn't work properly (maybe it was working but I am blonde if you know what I mean ;)) to sum up, I can recommend Doolin Hostel :))
Review 20:The breakfast could use some more variation, just some cheese or something alike
Review 21:The location of this place is really awesome and the stuff was super helpful
Review 22:No where to buy groceries and no ATM in the town. Take cash with you.
Review 23:A very nice hostel small and homie lovely chilled atmosphere good food very close to natural tourist attractions such as Aron islands the cliffs and lovely coastal walks.
Review 24:Wifi couldn't quite reach the far corners of the hostel as the walls are about a meter thick! Which was kind of reassuring and ever so slightly annoying.
Review 25:Location is good..straight off the boat and in virtually with a short walk to other bars and restaurants. Bar adjoining the hostel which wasn't loud at all.
Review 26:Although it is a hostel you have the facilities of a hotel. We had a double, ensuite room. Bed was really comfortable. The location was quiet while being just a few minutes walk from the busier spots. Breakfast was fabulous in the attached cafe.
Review 27:Doolin Hostel was a wonderful, clean, comfy place to stay. Only 75 m to O'connors' pub & great music! Staff very proud of their lovely area & eager to share info. Our stay co-incided with start of school, so less crowded than earlier in the summer. Very environmentally aware, separate garbage at source, grow own food.
Review 28:nothing!
Review 29:Beautiful city and good location close to inishmore island and cliff of moher. I was little late for check-in time, but the staff was generous and kind. And the bed was comfotable.
Review 30:There was free WiFi but it didn't work consistently if at all.
Review 31:Very clean, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, perfect location to see the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren.
Review 32:The staff were all fantastic! Very friendly, helpful, knowledgeableabout the area. The location couldn't be better. Nestled in Doolin,an adorable little town in the Irish countryside only minutes from theCliffs of Moher. Continental breakfast was typical but not spectacular:cereal, breads, yogurt, fruit, juice. The room was clean and had an ensuite bathroom. Basic and small, but all we needed. It is a hostel so weweren't expecting a spacious room with a whirlpool tub and a60" tv, just somewhere comfortable, clean, and safe to sleep. Bunkbeds were a huge hit with our four year old and were surprisinglycomfortable! A great find - better than any other hostel we have everstayed in!!
Review 33:Sometimes it was difficult to find a place to sit for breakfast. Also did I miss cheese and ham. There was only sweet stuff.
Review 34:It was a nice big room en a good equipped kitchen.
Review 35:Breakfast was not spectacular (though more or less what we expected). The toasters provided were so old they couldn't toast our bread :-D Acoustic separation to the room was quite poor, and quite a few doors slammed in the hallway which we could hear a bit too loudly in our room.
Review 36:Great location and nice staff. The room was great and very clean, and bathroom ditto.
Review 37:The bed wasn't too comfortable for me.
Review 38:Great location, the best pizza! Nice selection of craft beers, friendly staff, good selection for breakfast. Very clean, modern building. Great buzz about the place, would definitely recommend it.
Review 39:we tried to have a shower late at night and we could not get any hot water. Not sure if we just could not figure out the hot water system or if there was none left.
Review 40:it is a great location for being away from everything and close to the coast and the cliffs. No hot food for breakfast but the cereal, bread and dried fruit were great
Review 41:Staff very helpful, clean and lovely, good continental breakfast, very close to pubs and starting points of walks. Very quiet for a hostel also in dormitory rooms!
Review 44:the walls were a little thin but nothing that a sensible pair of earplugs couldn't sort.
Review 45:The staff were excellent, very welcoming and helpful throughout. Lovely room and very comfortable bed.
Review 46:Shower. Water pressure was a little soft and hard to maneuver in. Need shelves in bathroom to put toiletries on.
Review 47:Perfect spot in Doolin! Family sized room was just what we needed. Great value!
Review 48:Our room was very small for four people sharing. And we were not in the main building we were across the road. Breakfast was a little confusing we were not sure where to be or where to sit.
Review 49:The hostel was kept very clean and friendly staff. Towels were provided. Good simple breakfast.
Review 50:The wifi did not work almost at all but as I understood there is no good internet provider in the village so I dont think it would be better anywhere else...
Review 51:I enjoyed staying there, it is located in the village and at the bus station. The staff were very friendly and made me feel like home. The breakfast was perfect with a wide choice of cereals and fruits.
Review 52:Only drawback is the wifi doesn't work well, but you're in Doolin--go outside and explore!
Review 53:I loved staying here! Doolin is VERY small, but it's a perfect, quaint little place to stay if you want to visit Doolin. The bus stop is right in front the hostel, which is very convenient. The staff is so welcoming and helpful. The cafe has great food as well.
Review 54:Wifi was a bit spotty.
Review 55:Excellent location and helpful staff. Very committed to being sustainable and green. Great breakfast and great facilities for all your needs.
Review 56:Stayed 4 nights- towels provided at start but would have liked a change- every second day even!
Review 57:Family room was great- had our own bathroom and privacy
Review 58:Only continental breakfast included. Long walk for old timers with luggage from ferry terminal. Recommend that Doolin provide inexpensive shuttle service from ferry to town.
Review 59:Easy walking to musical bars, shops, bus stop. Nice breakfast ambiance, hostel set up with communal kitchens etc. Double room with private bath was small but adequate.
Review 60:A bit poor wifi, but working. We were not allowed to upload images to social medias and do skype calls.
Review 61:We were treated as individuals. Perfect located for some days in Doolin.
Review 62:Beds were just okay and wifi was spotty, but it didn't affect our trip (3 weeks long) in a negative way. This was our last night's stay of our long vacation and it was pleasant.
Review 63:Beautiful location, friendly and very helpful staff, close enough for a quick drive to Shannon Airport.
Review 64:The size of the bathroom was just too small in the family room The Annex lounge had a musty smell
Review 65:Lovely lounge in main building, very friendly staff and very well positioned with a good holiday feel.
Review 66:smelly shoes in the room. i don't know what happen every night there are people with smelly shoes. i couldn't sleep at night. maybe the hostel could do something about it in the future. and try to make some rules in the room should be better.
Review 67:Kitchen, location. clean. beds are too short for people tall. Breakfast could be better. toast without ham or cheese.
Review 68:Our room was not made. Breakfast was good, but had to taste orange juice that was out of date. Poorly sound proofen, woken up by loud neighbors in the middle of the night.
Review 69:Staff was very friendly, gave some great ideas and insider tips on how to see the Cliffs of Moher. Close to O'Connors pub for excellent traditional Irish music.
Review 70:Internet service didn't work. There was a problem with the booking. Although I had confirmation through booking.com, for two beds, at the hostel they said there was only one dorm bed booked, and we had to pay for a private room for the first night, as there was no dorm bed available.
Review 71:Staff was very nice.
Review 72:Too few bathrooms - always a line up. And because of this, the bathrooms never felt clean. One of the showers was very plugged. The owner initially seemed very friendly, but after a miscommunication about laundry he snapped and through some of my belongings on the floor. He was likely having a bad day, I would be stressed with all the responsibly he has, too. It's just too bad that he soured the Doolin experience by losing his cool. Couldn't wait to leave. Overall, just make sure there is clear communication, because he will put his hostels image above an individual's experience.
Review 73:Lots of parking, 20 min walk from the ferry dock to get to Aran islands. Don't have to make your own bed. Excellent breakfast included - loads of cereals and toppings, yoghurt milk jam and Nutella.
Review 74:WiFi worked, but was pretty slow.
Review 75:Staff and facilities were fantastic the whole way through! Great price aswell! Good common rooms with great wood stove and board games.
Review 76:Nothing!
Review 77:My boyfriend and I were only staying 1 night in Doolin, so we thought we'd save a couple of bucks and rent bunks in one of the 6 bed rooms here. It had everything you needed and was super clean, staff was really friendly and breakfast was included! Walking distance from everything, including a hike to the Cliffs of Moher (absolutely stunning hike) and if you need a lunch, you can order sandwiches to go. The beds were clean, and not terribly comfortable, but not really uncomfortable either. Easy to use the bathroom as there are 2 in that section, so 1 was always available.
Review 78:Nothing. Great place to stay!
Review 79:Just everything! Amazingly helpfull, friendly stuff; great location, good (not just the normal basic) breakfast, well, I could go on and on..
Review 80:Wished we stayed longer!
Review 81:Super helpful, friendly staff. Family Room was large, and clean, very comfortable. Enjoyed proximity to shops, pubs, walking trails and the coastline. Great pizzas served in the coffehouse. Enjoyed the common areas in the evening and the small cafe that sold drinks in evening.
Review 82:the wifI wasn't good, but it's generally bad all round doolin, didn't bother us though.
Review 83:Great location, very comfortable and spacious.very friendly place.
Review 84:Wifi was awful in the second building that we were put in but in the main building the wifi worked fine. Beds we're not great and could do with better pillows.
Review 85:Location was great with the bus stop directly across the road. Hostel was clean.
Review 86:The pillows were not very comfortable (flat pillows) , but it can be a matter of taste. The only real problem for me was the bathroom. There was no place to hang your clothes , or to put you toiletry stuffs, not even a place to put your soap in the shower , appart from the floor. There was also a very small mirror (and none in the room ) , which is not very convenient . The ventilation was not very effective . And the shower was an "open shower " , which mean every time we used it , half of the bathroom floor was soaking wet for hours.
Review 87:A very good hostel. It is very well located in Doolin, in the centre of the village and right next to a bus stop . The staff is very welcoming and friendly, they always give good touristic advices . we had to leave early and they gave me my key deposit back in advance without any problem which was very nice. The room was perfectly clean , big enough. The bed was nice; The breakfast was very nice for an hostel, fresh coffee, tea, juices , fresh bread , jams and butter . But also yogurt with a variety of cereals, seeds, toppings, and fresh fruits , which was great. I also loved the fact that the hotel try to be sustainable and respect the ecological policy of the Burren , and the environment. Great works guys !
Review 88:Nothing but the shower power. It was so weak and little that making a normal shower challenging.
Review 89:People working there were caring and helpful, nice music all day long in the sitting room, healthy and tasty breakfast full of choices, the view with horses from the front yard was the best ever!
Review 90:a group of 7 girls stayed here found it great value for money. Had never stayed in a hostel before but was pleasantly surprise. Couldn't fault it!
Review 91:The staff was very friendly, the room was great more than I would expect at a hostel, the living room was pleasant to sit in with other guests, the kitchen is big and well equipped there were many guests and yet there was room to prepare food and sit to eat, there is a small shop and they serve pizza and other things in the evening, breakfast was good and plentiful, parking place.
Review 92:We only stayed one night in the Doolin Hostel, but we quickly wished we had booked more. The town is small and so charming. The staff was excellent and friendly. The room was perfect size for us, 3 adults and 2 kids. The breakfast was quaint, but another hostel goer told us that it was the nicest she had had at any hostel, so for hostel standards, it was nice. Do NOT miss the live music at Gus O'Conners Pub, just across the street from the hostel. It was the highlight of our trip.
Review 93:Bring your own food if you intend to self-cater and don't have a car as I didn't see any place nearby for groceries.
Review 94:Very nice staff. Lovely location near to Fisher St in Doolin. Great base for exploring Cliffs of Moher, Doolin Cave, Lahinch, Fanore, Ballyvaughan, Aran Islands etc. Very nice cafe with good coffee and snacks & pizza. Help yourself breakfast good - good choice of cereals, dried fruit, seeds, youghurts, juices, plenty toast, tea/coffee.
Review 95:We had a great short stay at Doolin Hostel. Location is hard to beat. The sun was shining when we arrived, we checked in, everyone was really friendly, we sat out in the glorious sun and had excellent pizza. Good night's sleep, generous continental breakfast. Hard to beat!
Review 96:A savory toast topping option for breakfast would have been a good addition.
Review 97:Fabulous location and lovely friendly hostel. Rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. Doolin is delightful.
Review 98:Price for laundry was a little steep at 8E a load.
Review 99:Great walk to the pier at sunset. The breakfast was good. A great mix a people to conversation with in the cafe, study or breakfast room.
Review 100:The electrical outlets did not work in the quad room. They think it was a fuse.
Review 101:First night was in a quad room en suite. Second night was in a 12 person dorm. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was good.
Review 102:The heaters weren't working our first night for some reason which meant the room was a little chilly. The rest of the time it was fine.
Review 103:The room was spotless and spacious. The staff were also quite helpful in suggesting places of interest which weren't already on our to do list. Check in was simple and without hassle.
Review 104:To improve it even more - a little light and curtain for bottom bunks!
Review 105:Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Bed was clean and comfortable. location was perfect.
Review 106:I found the room small for 7 people, it was a bit warm and stuffy :-(.
Review 107:Lovely friendly helpful staff. Very nice laid back friendly atmosphere. Loved the healthy choice breakfast :-)
Review 108:Staying to short times. but coming back in june. Love this hostel
Review 109:A owner, wich does EVERYTHING for the guests. A very nice staff, always smiling and helpful. Nice room and amazing surrondings
Review 110:Doolin Hostel is newly renovated and the facilities are outstanding. The rooms are spacious and the lounge is perfect for relaxing in and meeting other travellers. Anthony was a great host and full of ideas for things to do during my stay. I would highly recommend Doolin Hostel.
Review 111:Nothing, it was all great :-)
Review 112:The hostel was incredibly clean and well maintained, it looked as though it may have been recently renovated. The family room was a great size, with an ensuite bathroom that was nice and clean and big. There are fantastic facilities at the hostel - a kitchen, laundry room and a cafe. The included breakfast was simple and filling. We had a very enjoyable experience and would recommend The Doolin Hostel to others without hesitation.
Review 113:Everything. The location is perfect. We had a memorable walk to the Cliffs of Moher. The owners took such good care of us -- always ready to help us plan our day. O'Connor's Pub - a 2 min walk away - had the best Fish-n-Chips I have ever had... The breakfast was perfect. Great sitting area. Just lovely!
Review 114:Nothing you wouldn't expect. But keeping in mind the price I have zero complaints and was quite blown away
Review 115:Lovely spacious rooms for the money and we had fantastic views arriving at sunset with out westward facing room. Comfortable bed, lovely staff and nice breakfast as far as hostels go. Good location too
Review 116:Only one suggestion, the WiFi signal could be stronger in the bedrooms. Otherwise everything was perfect.
Review 117:I always base my reviews firstly on the staff, then on the facilities. The staff at Doolin Hostel were always polite, helpful & knowledgeable. They gave us a great insight into both Doolin and the surrounding area. The facilities at Doolin Hostel are excellent. From the varied breakfast to the cafe/pizzeria, we were never hungry. The rooms are exceptionally spacious, with huge ensuite. We had a wonderful time in Doolin & would highly recommend Doolin Hostel.
Review 118:the beds had no brakes on their wheels missed soap in the shower dispenser.
Review 119:the logs fires in the evening the readiness of staff to take time to talk and offer advice relaxed atmosphere making it easy to connect with other travellers
Review 120:No supermarket nearby but the hostel does stock some basic food supplies and has a small café on site.
Review 121:The location is perfect for a visit to The Cliffs of Moher and close to several pubs with good food and entertainment.
Review 122:The Hostel was perfect. The dorm rooms are clean and comfortable with separate spacious full bathrooms in the hall. There is a hearty breakfast included for the morning in the cafeteria and options for food throughout the day. I highly recommend the Doolin Cliff Walk with Pat Sweeney. In the evening, there is a spacious lounge with a fire and it's a short walk to O'Connor's pub for music and good food.
Review 123:1. The bedroom was clean and beds comfortable. 2. The use of the kitchen facilities. 3. The staff were very friendly and helpful. 4. We particularly liked meeting other travellers in this relaxed atmosphere. 5. The breakfast was good.
Review 124:Was all ok; the staff very kind; people in the area generally very friendly; in the night We had music, and songs in the Pubs; good advices for trips by the islands and cliffs of Moher. Relax and kind
Review 125:The water pressure of the shower was too weak. I got only drips of warm water. Mattress in the family room were smelly.
Review 126:Staff were very friendly and helpful. They are always willing to respond to your questions. The hostel locates in front of the bus stop. Access is easy to the Cliffs of Moher trail and the ferry pier. The famous pub O'Conner's is only 2 minutes walk.
Review 127:Nothing.
Review 128:The staff, the location, the cozy environment, the facilities, the breakfast, the dish and the possibility to meet very friendly travelers like us.
Review 129:Be aware that if you are in the front (street side)of the Aux building across the street when the local bar gets out, there will be a couple of waves of happy, and possibly loud customers on the streets at various late hours.
Review 130:Clean and neat. Staff very helpful and pleasant. A Great value and close to cliffs of Moher.
Review 131:Everything the staff were friendly efficient and most obliging the facilities were just perfect We had the most beautiful and relaxing stay Thanks
