Reviews for Burbury Hotel

Review 1:No shelves nowhere for clothing and small items. Passed the week getting t-shirths, socks and everything from the suitcases that I installed on the ironing board as a shelve. Need a car on week-end. Very far to restaurants and mall without a car.

Review 2:Very clean and very frendly staff. Good bus services 200 mètres distance exept on week-end. 25 minutes walk to the parliament. Kitchen well equipped.

Review 3:I was charged more than the room rate when I booked from Booking.com ,but they staff were kind and trying to help with refund with difference, still inconvenient though and the mistake could be avoid to happen.

Review 4:location is good and close to everything

Review 5:The housekeeping was very poor. Bathroom floor not washed. Spill on chair that had not been removed. Shutters very dusty. Room very dark and gloomy. No main light. Depressing dark colour scheme. Very modern but not welcoming. Not even a biscuit provided to have with a cup of tea. For $209 dollars we expected more.

Review 6:The bed was very comfortable and the location of the room was quiet. Entertainment system was very good,

Review 7:Ladies at reception could be a tad friendlier, even though I misunderstood something due to my 2 days of travelling to get there, which really should be irrelevant! Young gentleman stepped in and was very good, polite and accommodating. Wifi was limited, could not do whatsapp calls! Room was courtyard overview, very nice but barely any sun all day on the balcony which was a real shame when I did decide to chill during the day. Great modern facilities hotel overall

Review 8:Lovely apartment, quiet & a very comfortable bed, felt very safe to wander around the area. Great for travellers but limited wifi for business, as I stayed here to do both!

Review 9:The pool was good but I think maybe a outdoor pool would also be a good thing focus less on fitness swimming and more on leisure if possible

Review 10:The customer service was really good

Review 11:The fact that the only restaurant in the Realm / Burbury complex open during our 2 night stay was the Tapas bar which had a limited menu with virtually no vegetarian options was a disappointment

Review 12:Clean and spacious apartment , the balcony a bonus , and location suited us well . Appreciated was the ease of access to the car parking and the ease of entering and exiting the car park several times a day .

Review 13:Large amount of apartments very close to each other. Made for a noisy environment. I don't believe breakfast was included, at least no-one mentioned it. Sofa and chairs were very uncomfortable.

Review 14:Gym and pool very close. The balcony was good but a screen door would keep bugs out.

Review 15:Housekeeping service was terrible - bed made poorly, towels and robes left in a heap, counters not wiped down. For some reason, one glass and one spoon provided for two guests.

Review 16:Great location, modern and spacious room. Reception staff helpful and friendly.

Review 17:Some issues with reception. It took us half an hour to be checked in. Staff gave us incorrect directions to car space.

Review 18:A beautiful, clean and serene space.

Review 19:Most restaurants in the hotel area were closed during the period of our stay except for 2 places.

Review 20:Clean, comfy, spacious and quiet. Good car park facilities. Windows had fly screens so could open up and enjoy fresh air.

Review 21:Nothing, but the bathroom sink had slow drainage. Would like to see packages with breakfast, wifi and parking included.

Review 22:Great house keeping Very Spacious Love the modern design Good selection of tv channels.

Review 23:I had a great experience, but it could have been even better if I had the option to choose an outward facing apartment with better view/sunlight. Free access to the gym would have been a plus. I didnt like having to close the balcony door and windows due to the neighbors smoking - their habit shouldn't be my problem (im not sure how the hotel could solve this but I disliked it)

Review 24:Very friendly and helpful staff Comfortable new feel to apartment Secure undercover parking was great

Review 25:The service was warm, and every enquiry was answered in a helpful and friendly manner. The room was ideal for my disabled son as it was spacious and well appointed making it comfortable and practical.

Review 26:Close to New Parliament. Easy to get to restaurants at Kingston and Manuka. Walkable to Portrait and National Gallery however need time and good weather.

Review 27:Seemed understaffed. Room service arrived at 6.00pm. Problems with television

Review 28:Friendly staff, large clean room, good location if you have a car, very good breakfast facility at cafe across road.

Review 29:Poor service - on the first day they forgot to leave amenities and towels in the room, on the second day they didn't make up the room even though I've asked them twice, it took them one hour to deliver dinner which we ordered to the room (and it was cold as well)...

Review 30:Beautiful design of the building and interior, spacious rooms, balcony, comfortable bed, free wifi and parking.

Review 31:Nothing was open. It was New Year's Eve and New Years Day that we were there and most restaurants were closed as was the pool. I understand it's a public holiday, but this is a hotel so should either be open or tell us prior that they wouldn't be

Review 32:The rooms were very good. Clean and comfortable

Review 33:I requested a high room... our room was on the first floor! It had none of the information we required. The tv wasn't working properly and when we asked at the desk for a new battery, the receptionist rolled her eyes as though we were stupid. For someone whose educational level was probably a Hospitality certificate from some frowsy institute, we were less than impressed. It turned out the tv was broken... it hadn't been checked prior to our arrival. We then had to move rooms but only after waiting 15 minutes for the receptionist to call us, which she didn't do... we had to call her or we might still have been waiting. One of the reasons we booked the hotel was that it had a swimming pool. However, when we looked for it, unsuccessfully, we were told it was in another building across the road. This was never clear when we were booking. On our last morning we decided to have breakfast across the road instead of going to QT , in order to save time. I understand that it was New Year's day and the staff were not at their best but barely warm hot food and three requests for plain bread , not forthcoming, I tried toasting gluten free bread... doesn't work! Fortunately in another few minutes we were on our way, never to return.

Review 34:LEAVING!

Review 35:Room service.

Review 36:Comfortable and well presented apartment for family and good facilities including TV in each room, Nespresso coffee maker and other good kitchen appliances.

Review 37:Lack of hotel facilities Unable to accomodate room request Room cleaning left until late in afternoon Average customer service from hotel staff

Review 38:Nice hotel rooms

Review 39:Dirty cups on cupboard on arrival.Housekeeping forgot an item for bathroom each day. Eg. Bathmat, handtowel missing after they had been.Tea/sugar not replaced daily and had to chase up for these items.

Review 40:Spacious burbury suite.Very comfortable bed.

Review 41:There are multiple apartment blocks, yet there isn't adequate signage. For instance, from the street view, apartment block 1 is actually behind apartment blocks 3&5, but there is nothing at street level to point the way. It is confusing! It would have been great to be able to get breakfast before 11am. The hotel restaurant opened earlier for coffee but not breakfast.

Review 42:All staff were professional & pleasant.

Review 43:Facilities, housekeeping, price of drinks, price and standard of food, no choice of restaurant. Retaining $50 that wasn't refunded on departure. Overall the standard and service level of the hotel was one star. Very poor and very disappointed.

Review 44:Hotel was a little hard to find but once found it was actually in a good location - we just got lost!

Review 45:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was extremely comfortable and apartment was very clean.

Review 46:Great location, very quiet. Near Parliament House in a leafy area of Canberra. Was great to have a 2 bedroom apt, very spacious. All the modern comforts..

Review 47:The rooms are incredibly soulless and somewhat depressing, not a single picture on the wall and everything is grey and white. All hotel information is on the TV which was quite problematic to use (and I work in IT!). The in house movies were not present so a call was made to reception to rectify the problem, they said they would send someone up straight away and after 30min no one arrived so I made another call and was told someone is on their way right now, after another 30min wait with no one arriving I called and told them that I had changed my plans and would not be needed. 3 of the 4 hotels restaurants were closed and due to the location a drive was required to get to more restaurants. Gym/pool closes too early on the weekend to actually use. No one asked how my stay was at the reception when leaving and the receptionist English was quite hard to understand.

Review 48:The Burbury Hotel is a new hotel located in between Kingston and Parliament House approx 5 min drive to the Canberra City Centre. The hotel room was very clean, big and well appointed with dishwasher, clothes washer, microwave, fridge, nespresso, king size bed, 2 TVs and balcony (and all other items expected in a hotel room inc free internet). The room was discounted 40% off the normal rate.

Review 49:Stretcher bed very poor. Very uncomfortable. Pool and gym closed over Xmas and Boxing day. Dissapointed with not knowing that when I booked.

Review 50:Great location. Very clean and nice balcony and view.

Review 51:Originally, I booked Rex hotel in Canberra but when I tried to check in, they couldn't find my booking. I had been asked to wait more than half hour without helping us. I had to book Burberry hotel after that. Customer service was amazing as I wanted to check in within 10 mins after booking but the room hadn't been cleaned yet. They advised to travel around and would call me after the room became available. The room was just renovated as I could smell it. However, the room is quite big and clean. I would choose them again next time.

Review 52:The TV in lounge area didn't work and had someone else's name on the welcome screen. Some down lights didn't work. We moved the couch a little bit to watch TV and the floor under the couch wasn't vacuumed there was rubbish there. A little sad there wasn't any Christmas decorations at all in the motel. The couch was a bit uncomfortable. No pictures on the walls.

Review 53:The room was very large. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and fixed our problems quickly. The suite was well set out.

Review 54:For second time running, staff had to be asked to clean room. They made bed then left cutlery and rubbish outside our door and it was still there at 11am next day as was other rooms on the floor. Staff seem to be well trained in key messages and phrases rather than warm, friendly customer focussed. On check out reception put through my payment on credit card charging a fee when on booking I indicated I wanted to pay eftpos! He didn't even care that he'd done this without asking! Pool and spa across the road were cold! Last time I stay there.

Review 55:The location and in house menu

Review 56:One room was without any Windows and very dark. Air condition in that unit was very noisy. Showers had no shelf to put the soap, shampoo..,etc

Review 57:It was nicely designed in a very good area

Review 58:There could have been cooking place (not only grill and micro-waves), only few restaurants in the neighbourhood and no supermarket or even shops. You have to use the taxi for your meetings and visits (but this is Canberra where you need a car and very bad public transport system).

Review 59:Very kind staff; great room, very comfortable, well-designed and big; very quiet place, good bed; excellent Japanese restaurant in the hotel (though not always open) LiloTang, good breakfast. A charming and human-size hotel.

Review 60:I tried to book again for a business trip in February 2016 - but the price had doubled! Had to look elsewhere.

Review 61:Good value. Modern facilities. Great location. Easy parking.

Review 62:I really liked the big comfy bed and the general set up of the room. Much bigger than I anticipated. Great location, as it was central to everything and helpful and friendly staff.

Review 63:staff was unproffessional cold delivered roomservice food room changed for no reason had no minibar breakfast buffet had flies over the food no movie rentals worked at all

Review 64:the room size

Review 65:I was given a room with someone else (man) inn it, technology didn't work had to get people to fix it, room was not cleaned properly, the room service was still there 48 hours when I left, I wasn't given my wakeup call and missed my flight and it cost me 232 and i was overpaid for my breakfast and they said they had refunded it but I didn't get a refund. very upset. I feel I should get a refund for some of the inconveniences I experienced

Review 66:room was nice but technology didn't work. location was good, parking and internet were good once they worked

Review 67:No complaints. Hotel is just slightly out of town, $15-20 cab ride.

Review 68:Hotel was outstanding. Very new and extremely clean. Bed was so comfortable. There was no noise disturbance. Facilities were excellent, enjoyed watching a movie in the room on the Saturday night and visiting the pool, steam room and sauna in the morning. Breakfast is a must on the roof-top. Will definitely recommend to friends.

Review 69:There was a problem with the sewerage or something similar and the basement carpark and lifts were really stinky.

Review 70:The apartment was great. It was spacious and clean. We had a function at the Realm so it was really convenient for us.

Review 71:The hotel did not contact me when I had left belongings in the room after check out. A simple phone call would have been appreciated instead of having to contact once we were home (from interstate) and having to organise our own collection.

Review 72:The amount of space in the 2 bedroom apartment was fantastic and the close proximity to all our activities over the course of the weekend.

Review 73:The locking mechanism failing when I tried to enter the apartment after a 2hr absence. Having security knock on the door and then not explaining the reason for the disturbance.

Review 74:The upgrade to a two bedroom apartment.

Review 75:• no window blackout curtains - was staying on level 1 and directly outside my room was a street light. The Windows only had shutters which let the glow of the street light directly in making it feel like it was sunrise earlier in the morning. Also made it pointless to have the heating going as it was just escaping between the cracks of the shutters that couldn't be fully closed. • Facilities - there were no real facilities of the hotel to explore and use. • Hotel lighting - it just seemed dark and the ceiling lighting in the room was situated in places you didn't need it to be. • Accommodation price - definitely did not find the price of the room ($280, plus $50 bond) for one night worth it, when there were no facilities for me to use and no meals included.

Review 76:• staff - we're accomodating and friendly • modern perks - these include iPod dock, Apple TV extender box, cordless phone and kitchen facilities all making the room more comfortable. • car park - super easy to find a parking not space and the lifts were generous and the fact it was free.

Review 77:Would have loved more airflow in the bedroom, and to be able to open the windows fully. The room got stuffy at night if you didn't use the air conditioning.

Review 78:Our apartment was comfortable and stylish, and well equipped.

Review 79:One restaurant ( the one we had decided we were going to) was closed for refurbishment. While we appreciate that this situation occurs it would have been good to know when booking as eating at our accomodation was important.

Review 80:Very pleasant and helpful staff. Easy to organise the accommodation, very quiet, good location, on sight eating, free wifi, very nice bathroom products, good towels.

Review 81:Shower was a little awkward & not child friendly.

Review 82:Balcony Suite had washing machine/dryer, dishwasher & kitchenette. Use of the pool and facilities at Hotel Realm.

Review 83:Bathroom smelled a little mouldy and had a frosted glass door so it was quite easy to see through

Review 84:Bed was comfortable with easy parking close by (on the weekend)

Review 85:Liked eveything

Review 86:Location being very central. Boutique style hotel with large room andcomfy beds. Beautifully appointed. Buffet breakfast - large choice andgreat view over act. Being able to use pool, spa, sauna and gymfacilities at hotel across the road free of charge. Very friendly staff.A bottle of bubbly and chocolates were left in our room to helpcelebrate our wedding anniversary. Would highly recommend.

Review 87:Location is away from main streets and restaurants - Braddon is a better area to stay. Staff weren't knowledgeable about local Canberra areas than expected

Review 88:Two bedroom suite was a good size for 2 young families. Staff were friendly. Free parking underground.

Review 89:can't think of any.

Review 90:child under 12 stay free basement parkir and free easy check in and out (under 5 minutes) spacious room and modern style free wifi balcony

Review 91:Room was a bit dark, even with all the lights turned on. Also the basin is outside of the shower/bathroom area was a bit odd and made it hard getting ready..

Review 92:Good location, about 20mins walk to Parliament house. Room was really nice, clean and of good size. Shower head and pressure was great..

Review 93:Cleanliness of the room could have been better and furniture in the lounge room not practical for 4 people (not enough) as the dining room chairs were extremely uncomfortable (metal). Cancelled roll away beds three times and still had charge on the bill at the end of the stay (communication did not get through). Suggest having what's on in Canberra booklet for tourists in the room and map as we had to ask at reception, they were helpful once received.

Review 94:Location was good and the breakfast area on rooftop was lovely.

Review 95:Out TV was was flickering. We reported it to the staff. Nobody bothered to come and check on it or tried to do anything about it. There were other people's hair in the shower.

Review 96:Bed was comfy and the room was nice.

Review 97:The hallways were quite dark and so was the room. They had plenty of mood lighting but not enough for if you needed to do some work in the room at night.

Review 98:The room was quite spacious and comfortable. There was more than enough space for an extra bed which we required. It was also clean and well-stocked with bathroom essentials. There was parking available for guests at the basement for no extra fee.

Review 99:Check out was at 11 however the cleaning staff were wanting to get into the room at 9.30 to clean room, I wasn't impressed. Lighting in room was minimal & difficult to see things at night.

Review 100:Lovely room overall & bed was great.

Review 101:a hotplate in the kitchen would have made a huge difference.

Review 102:The rooms were a great size and it was airy and clean. Breakfast was fabulous for the kids especially. Pool was also wonderful.

Review 103:The only thing we didn't like was the air conditioning/heating. It was really smelly, especially at night. The room smelt of sewerage!

Review 104:The staff and service were fantastic, couldn't be more helpful. The business centre for my husbands work was perfect. The room was modern and lovely.

Review 105:Floor was filthy, foul sewerage smell coming from bathroom sink; bed linen was stained with ?vomit from a previous guest and we had to ask for it to be changed

Review 106:Apple TV; Coffee pod machine, comfortable beds and pillows; close location of restaurants

Review 107:the breakfast was poor, not enough choice nor was it re-stocked during service

Review 108:Spacious room with excellent amenities, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom layout was excellent.

Review 109:New building looks but i think cracks are and will appear more and more ie door to verandah not the right size and large gap.

Review 110:Staff service was excellent

Review 111:At 7.30am we requested a toaster which should have been in the room and were told they'd get one to us. It hadn't arrived by 9 am so we requested again. It still hadn't turned up when we checked out at 10.45.

Review 112:We liked location and spaciousness, and quality of bedding and towels. Parking was convenient and simple.

Review 113:I checked in online and when I arrived at the hotel they had no record of my requests (for a king bed and a late check out). When I checked in I again asked about a late check out and they said not a problem tho on Sunday upon my departure they wouldn't allow it and the desk clerk was quite unaccommodating, I mentioned I had quite a lot of time to fill between my checkout and my event (I was there for the Canberra Film Festival) and she didn't even make any suggestions for hanging in the lounge or restaurants she just said there was nothing that could be done.

Review 114:Your bed was amazing and the room was spacious.

Review 115:Shower head was really low, only came up to my shoulders and I'm only slightly above average height for a woman. Nothing else to complain about though, and I would definitely stay again (but not plan on washing my hair there!)

Review 116:Clean stylish spacious room, comfortable bed and pillows

Review 117:I could not fault the staff. What I could not cope with was the lack of lighting, the black corridors and being very depressed trying to peer through the gloom every where

Review 118:The dark ambience of the hallways and rooms in general was depressing. Plenty of spot lighting but no general light. In particular the bedside lighting did not allow for reading a paper book or to write anything. Luckily I had my Kindle, but not everyone will have one.

Review 119:The bed was amazingly comfortable and the room was large. The Malamay restaurant was exceptional - beautiful food, lovely ambience and friendly, helpful staff.

Review 120:I found the person at reception answered my queries but was not friendly or helpful with her responses. Almost condescending.

Review 121:Ideal room for us...a mature couple and my 90 year old Father. We had a room/bathroom and he had his. Very convenient location.great parking unlike many other Canberra hotels.

Review 122:Our bill came in two parts....one main bit and then another smaller amount for approx $1. I'll have to follow up as I didn't request a receipt.

Review 123:The bed was absolutely divine, comfortable & great linen. The best night's sleep I have had in ages. The room was quiet & beautifully appointed.

Review 124:Sarcastic staff at checkout. Also, the reviews about the room being dark is true. As we prepared for checkout, I had a hard time looking around the room, making sure I did not leave personal stuff, as room has limited lighting.

Review 125:Nice comfy bed. Quick check-in and out.

Review 126:Easy, comfortable, lovely place to stay in Canberra. We loved it. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room. The apartment was well set out, with everything you may need. Furnished nicely too.

Review 127:We loved the place very much however there is always a room for improvement. - it would be beter when the hotel already knows that we will come as three quests then straight away should prepare 3 towels for us in the room. - It would always be no Ce to have something for kids to play or do in the hotel ( just my preference) The rest are amazing !!

Review 128:A wait in the Bistro for lunch. We ordered and the chef apparently went on a break just as we ordered. We were not told that this was the case and the wait that then ensued with 2 young children was unacceptable

Review 129:Your fine dining restaurant's set menu and service was excellent. The history and difference to a standard hotel / motel was charming.

Review 130:Lighting is a bit too moody. We arrived at night and I had trouble unpacking my case and almost left a pair of black pants behind which had fallen out whilst I was unpacking in the semi-dark.

Review 131:We had a lovely room (217), great to sleep in then open the automatic blinds and have the sun pour in. It's a very generously sized and comfortable room.

Review 132:Dark decor felt drab and depressing. Too far from most things, had to drive everywhere. Had to go over the road to the gym and other facilities.

Review 133:Very comfortable and modern. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 134:A protracted wait for room service to be delivered. However, the staff handled my disappointment very well!

Review 135:Friendly reception staff. Breakfast was good value for the price.

Review 136:I think getting the upgrade to a one bedroom apartment was a silly idea by me as we had no access to any of the hotel facilities.......bit far away. If room service was available in the normal Hotel King room I would definitely had stayed in the hotel building.

Review 137:Was a nice room

Review 138:Limited parking, the ultra modern decor with lots of black walls and carpet emphasised signs of wear and tear.

Review 139:Free wifi was a welcome feature, bed was very comfortable and rooms well heated. Very convenient location for visitors with their own car.
