Sagara Beach Resort is located just 350 feet from the lighthouse at the popular southern end of Kovalam Beach. Offering rooms with a balcony, it also houses 2 outdoor pools, a gym and a rooftop restaurant and bar.
The resort is within 9.3 miles of the Trivandrum International Airport, Trivandrum Central Railway Station and Trivandrum Bus Station.

Review 1：We moved out after one night even though we had a reservation for 7 nights. That says it all. The hotel is in poor condition, not on the beach at all so calling themselves a beach resort is misleading. Rooms are dark and in need of renovation, bathrooms are dark and depressing. The two pools are covered in darkness most of the day and the road down to the beach is not inviting at all. Simply not a hotel for us so we moved out to a better and cheaper alternative even though it was in the middle of the high season.

Review 2：We moved out after one night even though we had a reservation for 7 nights. I have not decided yet if it is entirely positive, but we didn't have to pay the full amount for the 2 rooms. We got away with paying 60% of the total and that was due to the kind and professional handling of the Manager himself.

Review 3：Could not do laundry on a rainy day. Lots of steps down to the beach. WiFi only in lobby and dining area. Need mosquito repellent at night because of open design

Review 5：- Staff was unpleasant - Welcoming was very unprofessional - Only some of the Staff on the reception can speak english - Toilet is very filthy and wasn't cleaned well when we checked in - for a Premium Delux room you would expect something at least Decent in terms of set up, cleanliness...however this wasn't met - There were no remote control for the AC and when we asked for it, they got us one that doesn't work - It's a pain to turn on and turn off the lights in the room since there are a zillion plug so you would spend most of your night trying to figure out which plug works for a certain lamp bulb! - Internet connection wasn't working! - Since we were leaving early morning, we asked on the night before for a breakfast made of toasts, banana, jam, butter and coffee to be ready by 6:20 am- it was 6:20 when i called the reception to ask for the breakfast however the staff at the counter had no idea what i was talking about! 15 minutes later, we received our breakfast in a Plastic Bag :) with two Pinkie Fingers Bananas :) We have been to less stars hotels even boutiques in Asia where we paid less however this one is the worst!

Review 6：We only liked the Location of the Hotel. Very close to the beach side and the market Taking into account the hotels we've seen on the beach side, I assume this is the best hotel one they have in Kovalam however it still doesn't meet ones' expectations/value of money paid...and i believe you have no other choice but choose this one so good luck in your experience :)

Review 7：The breakfast was rather poor & the staff were slow in dealing with any requests, but after a month in India we were used to it! A wake-up call we requested on our departure day didn't happen but luckily we woke up anyway. Wifi (free) was only in the reception area.

Review 8：The hotel overlooks Lighthouse Beach which is lovely with shops & restaurants along the bay. The beach itself is pretty clean & you can hire sunbeds & umbrella if you wish. The walk from the hotel only takes 5 minutes & we didn't find it a problem. The massage I had in the spa was very good & the price reasonable. There are good sunset views to be had from the bar terrace.

Review 9：Web site stated no cards accepted. Had to transfer money via bank. At reception cards are accepted.

Review 11：We booked our taxi to Varkala at the hotel. They charged 3000 rupee and insisted we pay at reception (Not to the taxi as we would have expected). On arrival at Varkala we found the cost should have been 1700 rupee (quoted on taxi notice board as Gov of Kerala approved charges).

Review 15：The food - lack luster and missing the best Southern Indian dishes. The staff - confused at best. They didn't know what credit cards they took and settled on none. Decided to deliver a fruit plate at 11 pm with out calling ahead. The cleanliness - found a bug within a minute of arriving and more in the bed throughout the night. A roach and some ants.

Review 23：We object to local people going into the pools in outdoor clothes.Europeans have to shower before using the pool. Apparently it is acultural thing for the women. Maybe one of the pools should be for nonEuropeans. Best views you could find without a doubt but 74 steps up and74 steps down in the heat is not for the faint hearted. You could get atuk tuk for 50rs. Fifty English pence. Breakfast was ok.

Review 45：- There are thin doors between the rooms which make the next door guests sound as if they are in your own room. This is a gross infringement upon the privacy of hotel guests. We had to pad the door on our side with blankets. - The AC didn't work for three of the days and nights of our stay; for this we received no apology or discount. - During our two week stay our bed sheets were not changed once. - We booked a triple room. Besides a double bed we got a worn matdress with a blankett (no sheets) to sleep on. - The pools have very dirty water. - The hotel only accepts cash payment, which in our case required eight outtakes from the nearest ATM machine, which is about three kilometers away. I could go on and on, but the overall impression is that this is a 1 star or, at best, a 2 star hotel.
