Reviews for Gatwick Inn
Review 1:The manager didn't know about the booking I had to prove it. Booked 2 cars was only allowed 1.bathroom light all blown.mouldy window frames.bed really uncomfortable.
Review 2:Nothing !
Review 3:Slightly chilly in rooms. Also smelled a bit odd. Not awful, but not nice either. Neither thing were bad enough to put us off re booking but worth mentioning.
Review 4:Brilliant location, close to Gatwick. Nice big, comfy beds, helpful staff gave us an upgraded room no extra charge. The best bit was free 14 nights parking. Worked out only a few pounds dearer to stay the night before and leave car here, than to use airport car park.
Review 5:Staff had no record of the booking and didn't have the room available, ended up paying more for a bigger room I didn't need or book. Will not be returning, pictures also misleading. Faulty towers at best.
Review 6:Location
Review 7:It is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in in my adult life. It is very dirty, tired , few lights work , there are few amenities if any and we left feeling unclean.
Review 8:Nothing. This place is atrocious .
Review 9:The room was on the second floor.it was very difficult with luggage and kids to go upstairs.the room was extremely cold on the first night.
Review 10:Parking is free.location is near to the airport.
Review 11:I had to pay to park
Review 12:I was charged £15 to park. when i booked i was told by booking.com that parking was free for up to 16 days..i feel lv been ripped off..
Review 13:Booking.com reservation not known by the hotel Cleanliness, previous guests sock and shoe in wardrobe, tea making items not complete
Review 14:Location. Cost. Car parking
Review 15:We had some noisy drunk neighbours at 1am in the morning that woke everybody up, but owners delt with them, it' was not the hotels fault
Review 16:Close to airport, lovely clean room and comfy bed
Review 17:Owner didn't speak any English so we struggled to check in. Although comfy and roomy, the rooms weren't cleaned thoroughly
Review 18:Very good location if you have an early morning flight at Gatwick. £5 in taxi. Stay was £59 for one night and 2 weeks parking which was extremely good value for money.
Review 19:Room wasn't worth £42 window broken having to leave it open all night separate bathroom shows men shower no women's seen bedding with dirty spots stains
Review 20:Close to location I was heading too
Review 21:This hotel is very well located for Gatwick airport, but also within walking distance of some local amenities. The staff were very helpful. We left an ipad in our room and they were very happy to post it to us. The room was basic but clean, and a good price considering its location.
Review 22:Even though I selected a double bed in the booking options, there were two single beds at the end. The room was full of dust much more visible in the morning when the sun comes in.
Review 23:No covers, no heat, no water for a drink, not even tap water, no breakfast, one of staff denied he worked there as he was changing the beds, shared bathroom with male workers and all shoved on top floor out the way, parking not enough as they rent out spaces for a daily charge to people going on holiday , thus not leaving enough room for us ... Oh and last but not least, no one is ever at the desk, no one there for check In and no one there for check out . We will never use this hotel again :(
Review 24:Nothing it was appalling
Review 25:Parking area small but adequate so would have been difficult to park if hotel was busier although I had no problems.
Review 26:Cosy, informal hotel, fit for purpose if staying night before/after flight at Gatwick airport as is well located. Room seemed to have been upgraded recently and was clean and well presented. Amazing deal on parking if travelling...up to 2 weeks on-site parking included! Used hotel recommended taxi service which were early to arrive & cost £5.50. Would stay again.
Review 27:The room did not have a sofa as indicated on the booking, no wardrobe and the window did not shut. It was up 2 flights of stairs with no lift or offer of help with my case. The entrance hall is dingy, the doorbell broken and hand labelled.
Review 28:It was easy to find and only a short taxi ride into the airport in the morning.
Review 29:Easy access to airport, room was comfortable if a little tired. Right opposite a petrol station with Sainsburys attaches - very useful for pre airport petrol/snacks/wine. Excellent pub 10 mins walk away for dinner.
Review 30:The big flat screen TV set was showing only 2/3 of the image, very annoying!
Review 31:Good location for Gatwick airport, and free car parking for a week! Friendly staff. The room was spacious and clean, all good for one night stay.
Review 32:I got really good deal for a family room that included car parking for 2 weeks taxi only £5 to airport it was a bed to sleep in for 1 nt so did job nicely
Review 33:This was a little surprise. I never did get to see the garden as we arrived very late. The gentleman who let us in was so helpful and so friendly. I chose this hotel because of the name as I was using Gatwick airport. The rates were ridiculously low as they included parking for 2 weeks. I was a little surprised to find an oldish looking two story house with rather old parking area after being used to modern sterile buildings. Big surprise, the rooms were huge and I have yet to sleep on such comfortable beds, mattresses and pillows anywhere else. All in all a very pleasant surprise.
Review 34:Loud road immediately outside. Shared bathroom. Staff didn't speak English properly. Was served by 10year old boy. Was very badly organised
Review 35:The room was clean and comfortable
Review 36:No breakfast contrary to what was stated on the booking description. Unreliable bus service so had to take a taxi
Review 37:Great beds, very quiet Excellent wi-fi
Review 38:The owner tried to charge me twice .. The poor receptionist Elizabeth tried to call him to explain ..but was soo scared of what he might say ..asked me to speak to him to explain I had already prepaid ... not very professional ...If I hadn't already paid ...I would have left
Review 39:Elizabeth
Review 40:Reception is only open for a very short time in the afternoon. We arrived at 2200 and had to wake someone to let us in. That said, once dragged from his bed the receptionist was efficient and helpful. I don't know where the photographs were taken, but the hotel is actually located on a busy main road.
Review 41:The inclusive long term car parking option is excellent value for money. Gatwick airport is only a short taxi ride away costing around £9.00. This hotel is a very good choice for a one night stay on the night before you fly, especially if you need parking.
Review 42:Not as clean as expected Old milk found in the fridge, no coffee in one of the two rooms, nobody on reception to ask for more.
Review 43:Comfy bed and pleasant room for 1 night stay
Review 44:This is not so much a 'bad' experience - more a recommendation. The hotel does not offer transport to and from Gatwick. We booked a taxi, but it did not turn up at the set time. Cue panicked calls (at 6.30am) to a whole list of other firms....all of which either did not answer the phone or were fully booked. Our pre-booked taxi turned up at 7am. The return leg was no better - we waited over 2 hours for a taxi back, arriving at 3am. So, transfers would have made our lives and journey so much easier!
Review 45:The room was big, comfortable and very clean. Basic toiletries were provided. Good location - not too far from Gatwick.
Review 46:we arrived at 1pm, there was no one there at all, had to call the manager, who could not speak english..he told us someone will be there at 3pm! We came back at 3pm..still no one there..we had to wait until after 5pm until someone arrived! There is no one there that can check you in until the evening, English is extremely poor, communication very hard...not good enough, i have better things to do than wait around all day waiting for someone to turn up and let me into a hotel!...unacceptable..
Review 47:location, and building
Review 48:Lovely staff, we arrived at half nine at night and this wasn't a problem. Such a bargain for the delux room with 2 weeks parking. Bathroom was nice. Taxi came early in the morning and was only £5.50.
Review 49:Not as advertised! No bathrobes (not even towels initially until requested), no sofa (just one office-type swivel chair), no iron, no ironing board and very patchy, slow wi-fi. We did manage to get the receptionist to bring in a chair - only one could be found. The room was clean, quiet and not uncomfortable but it simply annoys me when advertised features are missing.
Review 50:Location! Directly on A23, a few minutes from Gatwick Airport and easy drive from M25. Very quiet hotel, however. Plenty of parking.
Review 51:Check in time was changed on arrival, owner not present but spoke to me via a lady in reception (Elizabeth) phone on speaker saying the rate was different to the original booking and could I pay cash. Checked with my bank and the money had already been requested by the Gatwick Inn via my CC! Not a good impression - also the wifi was non existent upstairs - room wasn't ready and no mini bar as advertised! Gave up in the end and had to book somewhere else.
Review 52:The person who greeted us after ringing the bell for ten minutes was quite abrupt and really very rude towards other guests also trying to gain entry to the building. We had a superior double room booked but found on arrival there was only a standard double right next to reception available. We still laid the full price as no one was around the next day to speak to.
Review 53:Nothing
Review 54:My room was a single on the top floor, but the whole place smelt musty and old, the room was cold and the curtains were blowing in the wind - even with the windows shut. The wifi barely worked on the top floor. I also had a shared bathroom. The room was cheap and the mattress was all bar collapsed. I wouldnt stay here again, but if your looking for a cheap room - you get what you pay for.
Review 55:The location of the hotel is very close to Gatwick airport and the parking facilities are great. Elizabeth, who is the receptionist, cleaner, chef, housekeeper, gardener, as well as room service - god this girl works hard, but she was lovely and welcoming. The bedding was clean but smelt strongly of bleach
Review 56:People talking in adjoining room until 4-30am, had to get up at 5am so not very good.
Review 57:Very nice Lady on reception, very helpfull, I think her name was Elizabeth.
Review 58:There was absolutely no heating in the hotel and I was freezing most of the night. When I called up, instead of sorting the problem Steve was more interested in why I had a colleague on my room. Heating is a basic that should be provided!
Review 59:Stayed in a family room and was glad to have my own bathroom. Bathroom was clean and the bath was lovely.
Review 60:We stayed at the Gatwick Inn the eve before our holiday as a family of 5, great room... Comfortable beds and 2 weeks parking free of charge included, Would definitely recommend x
Review 61:Based on my experience of multiple 5 star hotels whilst on business, I can safely say that the beds in this hotel are brilliant - all 5 of them in two rooms. The new owner appears to have invested significantly to create a good comfort factor. The hotel is within a stone throw of Gatwick Airport, with free parking for many days.
Review 62:No one at the inn when we arrived, and we had to wait to be let in. After checking-in, we didn't see staff at the property for the remainder of our stay.
Review 63:Large room with comfortable beds. Free Wi-Fi! Located across from a supermarket which was convenient for breakfasts, snacks, and drinks. The room was cleaned well each day.
Review 64:Would have liked a breakfast option, and a transfer option, but local cab company was good enough.
Review 65:Clean, comfortable hotel near Gatwick Airport, with free parking for the duration of my holiday (13 nights).
Review 66:Place was virtually empty - rather like that hotel in The Shining. Can't imagine it will survive much longer - which is a great pity. Didn't appreciate the three fire doors to/from the kitchen fixed open with door wedges - management will have their boll*x chewed if fire safety do an inspection.
Review 67:Value, comfy bed & excellent en-suite, newly-fitted bathroom. Very friendly (if a little eccentric) welcome. Breakfast was basic & help-yourself, but that was what we expected and fair enough at 6am. Can't beat one-night's B&B & 16 days' parking all for £65. Would use again.
Review 68:its close to the main road so noise was high at night and its a very old building in need of some TLC
Review 69:the place had a neglected look from the outside however it was clean bathroom was newish
Review 70:Our booking confirmation quoted"Hotel will normally charge yourcard within 1 or 2 days" We reasonably assumed this had happened.Since we were on an all inclusive fortnight we had enough euros for anyeventuality but did not have our debit cards from which we were nowasked to pay on arrival. The "Manager" dressed in a hoodyrefused entry to the room whilst we argued for about 50 minutes. Hismanagerial solution was to oscillate back and forth in his chair whilststaring at the floor or the ceiling and display a staggering insolentdumb indifference to our plight .Telephone contact with the ownerproduced nothing. My wife delved again into her handbag and eventuallyfound a Natwest Credit card which we had had since its inception as"ACCESS" many years ago. It was valid but the"manager" still had to ring the owner to confirm itsacceptability. Problem solved but had we not had the credit card wewould have had to find alternative accommodation or returned home andstarted again. If normally means what I understand it to mean, anydeviation of payment method by the hotel should have been advised priorto arrival. Obviously this was way beyond the "management" .
Review 71:To balance the appalling arrival episode. The hotel is ideallylocated, has excellent car parking facilities and our room was clean, large and well appointed.
Review 72:Lack of facilities such as restaurant or bar although nearby restaurants and bars are but a short taxi ride away also lack of a lift
Review 73:good clean room comfortable beds good decor within our room hotel appears to be upgrading and updating free car parking for duration of holiday near airport small sainsbury,s shop opposite in petrol station excellent value
Review 74:The host was very pleasant. The room was fine with comfortable beds. The ensuite bathroom was clean. This is the ideal location for people wishing to travel via Gatwick Airport. There was a small shop opposite for last minute items. The Taxi arrangement was reliable and reasonably priced. We will definitely return for our next trip.
Review 75:no breakfast available. staff not answering phone for enquiries. had to have key lock for hotel entry. Daughter-in-law felt bedroom was damp, it was on ground floor, ours on 1st floor was fine, facilities coffee/tea etc fine.
Review 76:excellent location for airport overnight stop, with parking for 2 weeks , was good value .lovely new bathroom.
Review 77:1. Locked main entrance door with security keypad making new arrivals feel unwanted. 2. The complete absence of any communal facilities such as bar, restaurant or breakfast room. 3. The written list of things we would find in the room, many of which were not in fact there.
Review 78:There was no staff young girl who was left to run it went home so it was just guests that.was left there definitely. A health and safety issue terrible place and over booked so I has someone trying to get in my room no fire procedures. Very very bad place il never stay in there again
