Reviews for Corner House Hotel Gatwick

Review 1:Not a bad experience but I would have appreciated a second pillow. Also in common with all hotels, no-one considers a dim night light - it can be difficult for people to orientate themselves in strange surroundings if waking during the night and the normal lights are too bright and would disturb a sleeping partner.

Review 2:A warm welcome , friendly and efficient service and an excellent shuttle service to the airport.

Review 3:On collection from airport staff did not speak on the journey and we were left outside in the car park to make our own way with luggage and to reception

Review 4:The room was modern and comfortable

Review 5:Nothing...

Review 6:The staff were genial & very obliging, from the airport pick up to drop off, there was nothing too much for them to do... Pleasant, Jolly & accommodating... A most pleasant stay...recommended..

Review 7:The owner was very helpful, we arrived late due to work & because we where driving a large van , he looked out for our arrival so he could show us the best place to park . Little gesture's go a long way

Review 8:Fantastic place to stay, Staff very helpful & polite. Pick up was on time as was drop off. Food was very good and again staff was spot on. Would certainly stay as this Hotel again & recommend very highly.

Review 9:Breakfast getting poor seems too have no taste & u pay a lot for it the car parking charge seems like they are just into making money & not for the guest like it used too be & parking used too be free!!!!It used too be a frendly hotel & value for money but now just a money making machine!!!!

Review 10:Its location good for Gatwick

Review 11:No heating system during night despite explicit request to have it on sent at the time of booking. Had to turn on the extra heating thing available in the room, which simply put, dose not work ad well

Review 12:Simple. Minimal. Comfortable.

Review 13:I spent 1 night at this hôtel, I really enjoyed it. Staff was really nice, and the room very clean. I just found the music in the bar a bit too loud during the evening. I will definitely come back if I need to.

Review 14:Nobody told me you had to call to be picked up by their courtesy bus, so waited at airportfor45 mins. Room was smaĺl and very very noisey I heard the traffic all night long. Not good if you have to catch an early morning flight. Couldn't get a proper meal only 'snack'

Review 15:Not a lot

Review 16:Nothing

Review 17:Absolutely everything. Best hotel I have stayed in for years for value, service and overall amenities. Dinner was excellent, nothing fancy just good old fashioned cooking. In my view should be rated higher in the star ratings.

Review 18:Room bit small, quilt bit thin, bathroom small. As it was near Gatwick airport guests coming and going at all times so noise caused difficulty sleeping.

Review 19:Proper old hotel with bar, restaurant, room service, reception, garden, car parking etc

Review 20:Meals on the pricey side. Example. 2 small slices ham, 2 eggs and small chips. Nearly £8

Review 21:Comfortable beds, hot water, cosy, Christmassy. Cheerful staff.

Review 22:The walls are very thin. Unfortunately in a room next to or above us a man was entertaining a prostitute all night and kept us awake. We could hear everything- a seedy and sordid experience which spoiled what could have been a good nights sleep.

Review 23:Very efficient staff. Clean room, comfortable bed.

Review 24:The bar and Dining room were cold. The waiter spilled some of the beer when he served it and forgot to come back to clean up the mess he had left on the table. The Food was nothing to write home about. The pushed together twin beds were not a comfortable double bed. Could hear every conversation and TV from neighbouring room and were often woken by the Sound of the guests walking in the room above ours.

Review 25:The room was good value for just one night in the vicinity of Gatwick Airport.

Review 26:Very friendly and obliging staff, comfortable, warm and clean rooms. Welcoming bar for a night cap. Excellent location and a reliable and regular mini bus service to Gatwick airport.

Review 27:Room was a bit smaller than expected.

Review 28:Friendliness and willingness of the staff. Food was good and the lounge areas were cozy and comfortable. Good Atmosphere.

Review 29:The quiet location. The friendly staff. The cleanliness of the room and ensuite shower facility. and the full English breakfast. And only 45 mins from Euston inc the hotel minibus to the Gatwick Express I would definitely stay at Corner House Hotel again

Review 30:Too much noise- could hear everything immediately outside my room and from person staying above me Otherwise, fantastic location and great value for money

Review 31:A lot of noise from fellow travellers in the middle of the night

Review 32:Clean,Comfortable,Quiet,Good Food,Friendly & Helpful Staff really convenient to Gatwick Airport would certainly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning

Review 33:Right on road so quite noisy

Review 34:very close to Gatwick very friendly staff. Lovely spacious, clean bedroom in brand new annexe Relaxing bar with good home cooked food

Review 35:Nothing except my cold and weather which prevented me enjoying the surrounds more!

Review 36:Staff went out of their way to assist me when I had a cold...lovely comfy bed...great hearty meals and lovely service..cute local squirrel as well..I was kept informed re my car!

Review 37:The bathroom is extremely small. We were placed in the chalets which is not at the same locations as the main hotel. It felt like a dorm.

Review 38:Very close to the airport.

Review 39:I'm a vegetarian so food didn't excite me but there were plenty if cafes close by. I'd also like a luggage stand as an option

Review 40:It's well located helpful approachable staff well managed and amazing value for money and rooms are of good size. Also as a 70yo female traveler very safe place.

Review 41:Shower difficult to control temperature. One measly pillow. Five pounds to park the car.

Review 42:Warm comfortable room. Clean linen and bed comfortable. Meal was excellent Wine good but expensive per glass.

Review 43:N/A

Review 44:Location/ Dinnijng n Bar - Staff excellent Brought my American Wife to England for her First visit she loved the experience/ Thankyou all at The Corner House

Review 45:Very quick pickup from terminal parking. Friendly staff. Room was clean and cosy, unusual with leading stairs, bathroom was modern with touch-less light switches. Convenient drive to the airport in the morning, though it's also nice 20 min walk through a park.

Review 46:Breakfast was £9 for a full English - here you get one of everything. Normal full Englishs at hotels have two of everything.

Review 47:Ok stay, small business hotel

Review 48:Car park charge

Review 49:Great location easy to find.. room was clean and tidy and for £39 good value for money.. parking is £5 which is anoying but common for airport hotels.. breakfast was £9 which was very nice but not worth £9 in all I would stay again at that price.

Review 50:Well the rooms were a bit small. The staircase narrow, which is tricky with a large suitcase. The shower isn't the most powerful. Let's be honest though. At that price, 10/10 value for money.

Review 51:Friendly staff, easy easy easy

Review 52:Great friendly service from the staff. Great to stay for an early morning flight from the North terminal.. Good comfortable room and bed. Good English fare.

Review 53:I got there by train, and walked there from the station. It's still 20 minutes walk, a little bit worrying at night...

Review 54:The single room is small but very functioning and clean. The staff is helpful and helped me order a local taxi for the early flight in the morning.

Review 55:nothing.

Review 56:everything. pound for pound the best London hotel by a mile. location, parking, the hosts, everything was spot on. nice bar area.breakfast was good too. didn't really want to share this little gem lol.

Review 57:The staff of The Corner House Hotel went over and above to welcome us and accommodate all our needs. We needed a place to stay near Gatwick before flying out the next morning and it was perfect. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Review 58:My room was across the road from the main hotel building, in the 'chalet', a bit inconvenient in the rain, but it was clean and everything worked except the bathroom radiator. There was no noise from other guests once in their rooms, but the main road outside was rather noisy.

Review 59:The location was perfect for a pre-flight overnight stay, and very good value for money. The restaurant had a basic pub menu and the food was tasty and freshly cooked. A minibus provided a speedy 6.30am transfer to the airport for £5.50.

Review 60:Just couldn't sleep. The idea was to be rested before an early flight at Gatwick by cutting out the long drive to the airport and having an extra hour in bed. Unfortunately it's on a busy main road and we just couldn't sleep, too much noise for us country dwellers :(

Review 61:Food was good, staff were good, location in terms of proximity to Gatwick was good. Room was excellent, newly done and very clean and warm. (We were in the new stable block).

Review 62:It was a bit difficult to rinse all the shampoo and conditioner out of long hair due to lack of water pressure in the shower.

Review 63:Proximity to Gatwick airport. Convenient and friendly shuttle service. Free phone at airport to call for shuttle. Small room but comfy bed. Only short 10 minute walk to the shops in Horley for grocery or restaurants and pub. In the other direction a 5 min walk past the church I highly recommend the pub called Ye Olde Six Bells. It's a bit pricey but excellent food.

Review 64:When booking the room it asked me if I wanted a twin room or a extra large double bed, I asked for a extra large bed but got given a triple room with 3 single beds. The room had hardly any space to move about and the bathroom was tiny with no lock.

Review 65:Very friendly staff and welcoming.

Review 66:Credit Card administration fee that I queried when my invoice was presented on arrival but was told it was on Booking.com but I certainly did not see it when I booked and it definitely was not in the £ figure quoted

Review 67:Good location

Review 68:I was placed in an exceedingly small room downstairs with hardly any room in which to put my suitcases. I could not use the wardrobe because the room was so small I had to push the dressing table up against it in order to fit my suitcases inside. The room itself was in poor condition with a damp patch on the ceiling and a dirty, sticky carpet that had not been vacuumed underneath the dresser where it was covered with dust.

Review 69:N/A.

Review 70:The staff were very friendly & helpful. The food was well priced, tasty and good portions, decent pint of bitter too !. Transfers to terminals were on time and good value.

Review 71:Our 3rd visit this year - relaxing way to start your holiday - lovely rooms, excellent value with parking - we enjoyed a lovely meal in the dining room

Review 72:Fantastic access to Gatwick, great staff, shuttle transfer service, clean and comfortable. Wonderful choice if using Gatwick any time of the day or night.

Review 73:too expensive for single person. please apply rates for singles.

Review 74:exc hotel and wifi. walking distance from the North Terminal, in case you want to spare on the 5£ shuttle.

Review 75:The room is situated by a main road, the Brighton way, the noise is in height level and heavy, Specially from big cars and lorrys. It is something that awake you up very early in the morning, especially if you keep the little window open for ventilation. The room is narrow and toilets are very small. If you are a beat over weight try training gymnastics and be flexible as a moukion before you check in.. The sink of the Washbasin does not work properly and you have to close the valve after washing one hand waiting for the water to sink. The window for ventilating the room ,which has no air condition, is small as 11/22 inches. If you have a car, pay attention to the following remark. There is no public parking area near the hotel. They charge 5 pounds a night if you park in the parking area without any warning . I paid 12 pound a day for the rent and 41% more for parking. Add the parking to room rate in the comparison, it changes dramaticly the results. They are making monkey business with parking. Don't check in if you have a car.

Review 76:The room was clean .

Review 77:Very unfortunate to find something nasty down the loo :( Those little last minute checks go a long way..... Otherwise, all very nice.

Review 78:Room was very comfortable for an overnight stay. The breakfast was lovely and staff extremely polite and helpful

Review 79:When I picked my car up the rear wing was quite badly scratched, not saying this is the fault of the hotel but the car park was very small and cars were packed in. Someone has clearly hit the wing causing damage and driven off.

Review 80:Nothing!

Review 81:Stayed here overnight for early flight to Gatwick. Kind courteous staff and airport transfer. room was clean and comfortable. Couldn't ask for anything more. Will definitely book again.

Review 82:Room was a bit cramped for 3, but only needed to stay one night so ok. Quite noisey from traffic through the night.

Review 83:Location is very good for Gatwick. Staff were very helpful.

Review 84:I wanted to pay the entire bill in cash, but they would not refund the deposit by credit card, and there was a fee as well, not listed on the website. Information on website somewhat inaccurate. However, overall, happy with this booking.

Review 85:Reasonably comfortable. Meals available on site. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff.

Review 86:Only thing that springs to mind would be the parking. They have made the best of the space available but if you want to park then you have to book it in advance to make sure

Review 87:Clean and comfortable. Great location to airport. Rooms were quiet and good sized shower room. Bed was comfy

Review 88:Car returned with paint chips on passenger door, bumper and wheel arch on passenger side scuffed. Car had been moved despite being told as it was out of season it wouldn't need to be, waiting for manager to contact ..

Review 89:Clean room, convenient for airport Chose this hotel as it had the Option to leave Car securely parked

Review 90:The hotel is just off a busy road so there was traffic noise. Room rather too warmly heated for time of year. Tea making facility but I don't enjoy UHT milk with my tea. Some biscuits would have been nice to have with morning tea. A pity breakfast was not included in the price of my booking.

Review 91:Efficient transfers between airport/hotel/airport Warm welcome Friendly staff Good WI-FI connection Cleanliness of room and bathroom Excellent location for Gatwick airport. I would stay here again

Review 92:The single room was really tiny, I did not have much of the space to open my luggage.

Review 93:They have a nice service to take you to the airport, so you just order when you need and in 10 min you are in the airport, cost only 5.50 pounds :)

Review 94:Menu prices

Review 95:Staff are friendly rooms are very clean reccomend this to anyone cleaner very nice lady made us feel very welcome beds comfatable menu bit expensive many local takeaways in walking distance town close

Review 96:Need more staff - same people check you in then serve you at the bar or drive the courtesy bus. Windows and sills in hallways quite dirty.

Review 97:Friendly staff. Size of family room. Cleanliness of room.

Review 98:Friendly staff, great location to airport with convenient shuttle service, great food in their restaurant, clean and comfortable. Our room was on the front and with our window open the road noise was quite loud. Still had a good sleep though.

Review 99:I had a room close to the main road. Although very comfy the traffic noice from the road made it difficult to sleep until the ealry hours. mostly due to lorries driving past after midnight. Also was woken by early mornign traffic

Review 100:Friendly Staff, service was good and good selection of food available. Close location to Gatwick Airport, but far enouigh way not to be disrupted by Holiday makers. Comfy bed.

Review 101:Very impressed by the modern renovated room, comfy beds, excellent food and friendly staff. The price, for such a lovely hotel and convenient location was truly amazing.

Review 102:We were in the annex. The room next to the front door. The shower door didn't close, the handle on the wardrobe and the toilet roll holder were falling off. Duvet cover was completely ripped across on the underneath side. You could hear every noise from other rooms - hardly slept at all.

Review 103:The room was clean.

Review 104:Staff were rude. I was confronted about taking 4 patisseries in the morning for my family of 4 as we dashed out for our flight. Apparently a continental breakfast was not included in our rate. Room was clean, but noisy from street traffic and beds were uncomfortable. Ate dinner at the hotel. Food was horrible.

Review 105:Generally cheap, but you get what you pay for. Not worth the money to stay close to the airport.

Review 106:No water pressure in the cottage where we stayed loo didn't flush fully first-time then took 15mins to recharge couldn't even take a shower! very bad.

Review 107:The restaurant wasn't to bad

Review 108:I loved the friendly atmosphere, the staff, the cleanliness and the food!! Not sure about location as I only stayed one night before leaving for Gatwick airport which it is close to.

Review 109:We arrived very late due to flight delays and did not get to meet the hotel staff and had to leave early for our early morning flight.

Review 110:Very quaint and comfortable.

Review 111:The price charged for the shuttle bus I thought, was a little high (£5.50 per person) and we were dropped at the furthest drop-off point possible, although very little other traffic, and it was raining!

Review 112:The shuttle bus to the airport was brilliant.

Review 113:We were ground floor, and if you have loud neighbors as we did, bumps on the roof and conversations next door were a trifle annoying.

Review 114:Convenience of location coupled with competitive pricing.

Review 115:Traffic noise all night long even with windows closed, uninspiring very English breakfast.

Review 116:Near the airport, £5.50 taxi at 4 in the morning, friendly family run place, not expensive. And they took us back to the south terminal in the morning gratis.

Review 117:Lovely place and delightful staff! Comfortable room with extras like tea, coffee and kettle. Short walk to the nice town of Horley where we caught a train to the city of London to sightsee. Wonderful to have a shuttle pick us up and return us to the airport. Great food and service in the restaurant in the hotel.

Review 118:I think it is a bit overpriced for the quality of the facilities but still OK consideing the prices of accommodation in London and the area.

Review 119:For a late arrival or early departure, it is very close to the Gatwick Airport considering there is a shuttle at an extra fee, though.

Review 120:The bedroom was dirty along the skirting boards and under the unit, I only noticed as dropped something down the back and had to pull it out but not nice. The girl at breakfast was half asleep and we had to call her back to say what type of eggs we wanted and we were not even offered toast so again had to call her back. Not very attentive.

Review 121:The drop off man and lady that picked us up were lovely, the lady showed us to our room and was very friendly and efficient a credit to the hotel. Very nice decor in the public rooms and the bathroom was lovely, all clean white towels.

Review 122:Pick up from airport was a nightmare , especially will luggage . It was too far to walk or even find the bus stop , the lady on the phone from the hotel was not polite or helpful .

Review 123:Difficulty parking at night - very small car parks with limited space- and it's £5 even if you're just staying the night which we hadn't realised. Then, £3 if you pay by credit card and continental breakfast was advertised at £3.99 but was actually several pounds more. I ended up feeling rather aggrieved by all the 'hidden' costs, when if they had just charged an extra fiver on the room, I would have been happy with the deal. Breakfast finishes at 11am which is great, but when we got down at 10am, coffee was luke warm and there was limited/no choice for the continental breakfast - no croissants, for example..

Review 124:Nice rooms, pleasant staff, very comfortable stay. Check-out is midday which is great and breakfast is served up until 11am. Geared up for Gatwick travellers rather than people like us staying overnight to visit relatives.

Review 125:Unfortunately the hotel is on a busy road and the traffic ran most of the night which kept me awake. I am not used to traffic noise.

Review 126:Very clean and comfortable room

Review 127:Space in triple room as no room for bags Noisy because of close proximity of roadA

Review 128:Meals ok but no mash and close proximity to pub Ye olde bells toll

Review 129:Room a bit on the small size but fine for one night. No lift. Shuttle to airport a bit pricey for the short journey.

Review 130:Very reasonable price for the room, convenient as a one night stay before flying from Gatwick airport.

Review 131:only downside was the size of our room but fine for a short stay.

Review 132:location. special offer.can't comment on food as we didn't have any. liked the lounge.
