Reviews for Gatwick Belmont

Review 1:The lady in reception was extremely welcoming. This is just what you need after a long flight. Breakfast is great and the single room was very spacious, warm and clean, just what you need when it snows.

Review 2:This B&B is optimised for short stay guests. We stayed for 10 days and found it a little lacking for guests like us. There was little hanging space in the rooms and we have liked a fridge in the room.

Review 3:In the bar restaurant I had to give my room number even though I was paying cash. But there was a very odd man at the bar and as a woman travelling alone I didn't like that I had to announce my room number. Laminate wood floors - easy to keep clean but cold under foot in winter. Extractor fan in bathroom ran for an eternity after light was switched off making it difficult to get back to sleep.

Review 4:The shower was hot and powerful. A rare find. Food was good. Cosy room as radiators on full blast - perfect. Short walk from Horley train station with Waitrose and a Wetherspoons on the way. Only 5 minute shuttle bus transfer to Gatwick airport.

Review 5:Nothing every thing well exceeded or expectations

Review 6:Great for airport especially with transport Friendly Great food Every thing we needed for a great price would use again and recommend to others

Review 7:Toilet window clear glass NO curtain. Meal quantity most inadequate, overcooked, expensive. Room very NOISY from traffic. Small double bed. Total stay overpriced.

Review 8:Leaving

Review 9:Everything was great.

Review 10:When we went into the restaurant we were a bit dubious about the menu to be honest but the food was lovely and big portions. Good value for money. Curry was amazing.

Review 11:n/a

Review 12:we liked the cleanliness of the room, and bathroom, perfect. nice atmosphere inside the hotel and room, we were very pleased with service provided. thank you, keep it high your good standards!!!

Review 13:Very thin walls, so we did not get much sleep that night. Rooms on ground floor accessible from the outside. People passing and talking all night. Small room. Ice-cold bathroom (no heating). No recommendation.

Review 14:near Gatwick Airport

Review 15:We ate at their pub. Food was OK, but they brought the wrong order for me. The lady serving us just made a stupid joke and didn't bother fixing my order. The beds creak terribly. The plumbing makes a terribly shrill noise which kept us awake for most of the night when other guests were using the plumbing.

Review 16:Location close to airport.

Review 17:I had to be at Gatwick airport at 5am. The hotel was very close to the airport and the free shuttle was great. The room had everything I needed; a comfortable bed, shower and kettle! I was pleasantly surprised.

Review 18:We have stayed before and feel "comfortable" knowing what to expect, especially as usually we only stay for one night before flying home to Spain. We know we will get a good nights sleep. The hotel seems to be run very efficiently.

Review 19:The only niggles we had were with our bed. The headboard was very noisy so every time we moved it made a terrible noise. Would have appreciated the use of a hairdryer in our room.

Review 20:It was very close to the airport. Offered a shuttle service to the airport. The staff were very friendly, helpful. Free Wifi. Bar and restaurant there. The food was good. Tea making facilities in our room.

Review 21:The location for gatwick is superb especially with the transfers to and from the airport. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Review 22:The TV wasn't working. It was quite cold at first but the heater worked really well.

Review 23:It was really clean. Better than I expected. Very good for the price I paid.

Review 24:The bed was small

Review 25:The staff was really friendly and helpful, we were just staying one night and we had a flight in the morning so we picked this hotel because it was close to the airport.. Breakfast was good but not included in the price

Review 26:Very impressed and was definitely value for money. The staff were lovely and friendly. The food was lovely from the restaurant. The shuttle run to the airport was a fantastic help to us. This was perfect for our needs and will definitely return when the occasion arises, I will also recommend to others. Thank you very much.

Review 27:Room Cluttered slim line storage would have created a more spacious room. The headboard kept blocking the ensuite door.

Review 28:Staff approachable friendly helpful. Breakfast wide choice good location

Review 29:Nothing to say here.

Review 30:We've stayed here many times over the years and witnessed the expansion of the hotel...the rooms are excellent clean and comfortable for an overnight stay. Breakfast, for the early starters, is continental style and more than adequate while the airport shuttle service is just the ticket. We will stay again.

Review 31:A bit more space in the room would be nice, but the size was fine for a quick one night stay before flying out. Also, it's unfortunate if you have heavy bags or multiple bags that you bring them inside to check in only to have to take them back outside if your room (like mine) is along the side of the building. No deal breakers though, great place for a one night stopover.

Review 32:The night/early morning receptionist was AMAZING! She helped me out of a jam at 6:30 in the morning before I checked out and I really appreciated it. I was traveling by myself and it was definitely a budget sized room lol super tiny! However, it was great!! I big FYI though....you have to use your key to lock your door from the INSIDE! LOL awkward moment with my neighbor when he mistook my door for his door and came in...awkward moment for me to realize how I thought I "locked" the door was incorrect. Super fast few minutes to Gatwick as well, which was great. The bar was also super cozy and quaint with tables and couches to relax in.

Review 33:Right next to Metrobus stop from Gatwick South terminal. 2 stops, 5 minutes. 5 minutes' walk to shops, restaurants, pubs. 10 minutes to Waitrose and train station. Functional, clean, newly-fitted room.

Review 34:I had difficulty understanding the answer when I phoned from Gatwick, but we managed.

Review 35:The evening meal. I enjoyed both it and the ambience of the dining room. It was a relaxing break in our journey. I appreciated the email with directions just before departure.

Review 36:Not enough staff.Very noisy road.No sound proofing against other guests,or road noise. Tv very poor signal. Room was cold and beddinginadequate. I was unable to sleep at all owing to continuous noise fromother guests which was unacceptable. I had a conference to attend thefollowing day, I left feeling upset and shattered from lack of sleep andthere wasn't even a staff member on the premises when I tried tocheck out.

Review 37:Nothing. This place is run down and dowdy and very uncomfortable.

Review 38:Could do with a taller wardrobe and 3 hangers were not enough! The room was very warm.

Review 39:Location; room was fine; shower was excellent. Although we didn't use either the restaurrant or bar it was nice to have them. Staff very pleasant

Review 40:Transfer cost was high, wasn't included in room price and cost an extra £14 per person, would've been cheaper to get a taxi for the 5 minute drive to South Terminal.

Review 41:Excellent location with large, clean room. good value

Review 42:Very clean and good wifi. Have used the Belmont several times for early departures from Gatwick and will come again soon! I would also recommend it for a few days exploring London as trains from Horley to Victoria are frequent.

Review 43:Nothing.

Review 44:Loved the room. It was modern, large and spotless. The shower worked great and was also spacious. Also liked the staff, they were very friendly and helpful. The location is also great, close to airport and town centre.

Review 45:1 of the windows wouldnt shut properly because of broken latch so a bit cold in the morning . car parking a bit expensieve.

Review 46:24hr reception and close to airport and staff very friendly and helpful

Review 47:The breakfast wasn't hot. Didn't serve the full English like it said it would. The scrambled egg was watery. And all the food was kept in hot containers wasn't asked by us and cooked to our needs that's why it was cold. Not a good selection of cearls or juice. The shower door was broken. The toilet was broken.

Review 48:The hotel was easy to find. Well light up at night and pretty colour lights looks very attractive. Very clean and that it has family size rooms.

Review 49:Very friendly staff, comfortable beds, excellent breakfast , nice and clean , lovely bar facility, very convenient for Gatwick , close to Horley town and train station .

Review 50:Not very often I'd give a 10, but the staff was amazing, the rooms were very clean. Once there we changed accommodations a little to suit our needs with no problems. Over all an excellent stop.

Review 51:The restaurant is best avoided. The server left me sitting there 30 minutes before she came over to tell me I needed to walk over to her at the bar to order something, and then she caught attitude with me when I asked what kind of juice they had... Her snarky answer was "fruit." Although the hotel has a shuttle service, it's not free which was a surprise to me. Turns out it's cheaper to take a taxi.

Review 52:The room was clean and the bathroom very nice, however very very tiny room!

Review 53:No hairdryer in the room, but minimum importance

Review 54:Nice furniture, position is excellent, receptionist was very kind even if I arrived later than expected and left at 5am in the morning

Review 55:First of all bed had no support And was very uncomfortable. then When I opened the night stand I found a used cute tip on it and a used napkin on the bed. But the worst was having a huge spider crawling on my neck in the middle of the night. When I go to the reception she just gives me an extra sheet. I have a fobia about bugs so could barely sleep imagining other things crawling on top of me. And when I asked the same receptionist in the morning whether I could stay at least an extra hour after the very early departure at 10am so I could catch a bit of sleep, she said no, and proceed to tell me that in London there was spiders and that was something to expect. I work in a hotel and travel all around the world and this has been the most unprofessional answer I ever heard from a desk staff. I would understand if I was asking for something out of the norm after the incident but an extra hour would have not cost them anything and I am pretty sure the housekeeper don't take much time cleaning as I found all those things in the room when I checked in. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 56:Food at the restaurant was good.

Review 57:It was so handy and close to the airport. Even though we were delayed there was still friendly staff there to great us and make sure everything was ok for the few hours we stayed there.

Review 58:We loved the fact that the transfer was only a few minutes, after a delayed flight from the US, we didn't need a trek to the hotel. Our room was available from noon so we could get to the hotel and crash for a couple of hours. The hotel has a very nice 'pub' which serves decent food at a very reasonable price.

Review 59:Lighting in bedrooms and bathroom is very poor. Good size bathroom but sink is too small and too low down, end up with water everywhere from splashes ?

Review 60:Good sized rooms, clean. Friendly staff. On-site bar is a lovely bonus!!

Review 61:Friendly staff. Close to airport. The hotel airport transfer is great for peace of mind. The food at the bar was good and reasonably priced. Would book again.

Review 62:Room a little small, with tiny shower room, but for 1 night, goods over- ride bads!

Review 63:Excellent service, friendly staff, good food in the bar. Low price and ideal for a one night stopover with transfer available to airport.

Review 64:Location - not only for Gatwick Airport but for trains to London from Horley Station [ just a shortish walk away ] & thus no need to go back to Gatwick Station. Friendliness of staff. The price is right.

Review 65:Walking there from the airport was quite an adventure but possible with advice from kind locals.

Review 66:Comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, excellent value for money, very close to public transport to Gatwick, short walk to Horley town centre. Great breakfast.

Review 67:Meal could have been better, fish from frozen was way under cooked.

Review 68:Location for access to gatwick, the price , the breakfast and the prompt shuttle service .

Review 69:Breakfast could offer more varied menu.

Review 70:Good budget hotel for Gatwick airport travelers. Connections to London during off-peak hours are good and fairly priced. One day Rail Card for GBP 17 gets you to and around London on rail, tube and bus. Hotel has convenient pub.

Review 71:To be fair, I was unwell, but room was comfortable. Was only there a few hours, about 5 and we were in bed as didn't arrive till after 1am. We saw one lady who was friendly and checked us in then took us back to airport.

Review 72:We booked a family room for 4 and the hotel give us 2 rooms which where very nice and we have plenty of room ! We only stayed 1 night but we feel great !! Well done Belmont Hotel !!

Review 73:Personel was a bit unfriendly at check-in. Owner at check out was very friendly though

Review 74:We booked for 4 persons. Usually Space is tight (more like 3,5 people) but this hotel has plenty of bed-space.

Review 75:The parking was a little difficult with two many white vans rather in the way. It felt somewhat tired.

Review 76:The location was good for the airport and Horley town centre

Review 77:I was under the impression that the shuttle to the airport was free. It was only 6 Pounds, so it wasn't a big deal. It was still a great option to have directly from the hotel to the airport!

Review 78:I enjoyed the friendly staff. very helpful, offered me dinner and breakfast options. As well as a wake up call option as I had an early flight to catch in the morning.

Review 79:Nil, nothing to dislike.

Review 80:Frequent traveller, I now wouldn't stay anywhere else near Gatwick, welcoming ,helpful staff, accommodation very clean and comfortable, super little restaurant serving great food an drinks for reasonable price, you won't find a better deal at Gatwick, ALSO very good airport shuttle service, will definitely stay again, staff great.

Review 81:Was woken several times by others leaving for the airport, lack of courtesy on their part though, not hotels fault.

Review 82:Food in restaurant was excellent and good sized portions.

Review 83:BEDS WHERE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE IN ROOM 11 AND BRIGHT BLUE LIGHT OUTSIDE WINDOW SHONE ALL NIGHT. BEDSIDE LIGHT HANGING OFF THE WALL AND LIGHT ABOVE SINK NOT WORKING, EARLY MORNING FLIGHT SO EARLY TO RISE, BUT ALAS NO HOT WATER,COLD SHOWERS ALL ROUND. STAYED HERE 3 TIMES BUT SADLY WILL NOT BE RETURNING AGAIN .

Review 84:LOCATION 5 MINS FROM AIRPORT

Review 85:Being less than 10 minutes from Gatwick, this hotel was in a great location for us. The room was spacious and the restaurant/pub in the inn serves decent food in a nice atmosphere. Staff were very pleasant as they were short staffed on the night we came, causing us to wait in the reception for a while but were very apologetic and helpful for something that was not their fault.

Review 86:The young lady at breakfast cleared up at 8.55 and people were still attending. Complained to the customers that they were late for breakfast but breakfast was being service until 9 should be ample breakfast for all. Looks like cutting costs.

Review 87:Staff were friendly apart from young lady serving breakfast

Review 88:Room was very compact and bed had wheels which moved every time you did! Walls very thin - you could hear the bathroom extractor in the rooms next door.

Review 89:Convenient to the station and airport. Rooms very clean.

Review 90:Smell in the bathroom, which meant we were changed to another room. Which was larger but not so good a bathroom. Taps were loose and hot water took an age of running before even slightly warm water emerged. Shower was better but was a fixed head one, which is not so good for us. Not telling us about overnight parking charge on visa when taking the bill.

Review 91:Food was OK, a bit pricey but fair enough for close to major airport.

Review 92:I asked for a quiet room and was given a room next to the 24 hour reception so had a very poor nights sleep as could hear people taking throughout the night!

Review 93:they need to fix plumbing in room #6. Sleeping to the smell of raw sewage is not my idea of getting good nights sleep before transatlantic flight.

Review 94:close to airport

Review 95:Fantastic friendly staff, great convenient and fast airport shuttle only a few minutes away. Good value dinner menu but didn't try breakfast due to early departure although available if required. No aircraft noise to speak of. Well stocked service station supermarket 10 minutes walk away. Older rooms being renovated. Rooms need water glasses, plastic disposable would do. Definitely stay again!

Review 96:The price you appear to be paying when booking, actually goes up by at least £15 when you add on breakfast and transfer costs. The rooms, which I personally stayed in, were small and very basic.

Review 97:Very friendly and helpful staff. Transfer bus service was efficient. Rooms were clean.

Review 98:Booked a quad as it was all that was left. 4th bed was a camp bed & very in the way! The room was a great size for 3 beds but the unnecessary 4th bed made it cramped & clumsy to move around.

Review 99:friendly staff, comfortable pub style restaurant.

Review 100:VERY uncomfortable beds, room not as described on website It was described as a family room. In actuality it was the upstairs 2 bedrooms with a third room for the bathroom. Not quite what we were used to.

Review 101:The location is unbeatable for the price. It was only a 5 minute drive from Gatwick.

Review 102:having stayed at this Hotel in the past I was very impressed with the new look and revamp Great stay as usual I am asthmatic and need a lower floor room. This was catered for and a kind female member of staff even helped me with my luggage. Very helpful having airport transfers too

Review 103:The room was noisy located off reception area adjacent to front entrance. Every movement from the room upstairs could be heard and the occupants were up very early.

Review 104:Paper thin walls so could hear the TV in the next room and the children in the upstairs room.

Review 105:Receptionist very helpful, she was also the driver the next morning for the transfer to the airport.

Review 106:Breakfast was a bit on the mean side - not much choice and the eggs looked poached and were hard but perhaps I came down to eat at just the wrong time. The coffee was very good as it didn't come out of a machine.

Review 107:The staff looked as if they enjoyed their job and were very helpful and cheerful. There was no problem getting their shuttle bus both to pick me up and they took me back to the airport at the time I wanted to go. The home made steak and kidney pie at dinner was delicious.

Review 108:Booking.com did not convey our request for one room to the hotel anddespite taking a booking for one room booking.com arranged for two roomswhich was not ideal with small children.

Review 109:The breakfast was great. Staff friendly and desk manned 24hrs. Stafffound the best possible solution to the error made by booking.com.

Review 110:The only negative thing was that the rooms outside on the right hand side were noisy because people arrived all through the night, rolling their suitcases along the pavement. Even if they weren't talking, the suitcases were quite noisy.

Review 111:Staff very helpful. My elderly mother was with us and she had been assigned a room upstairs. Without us asking, they offered to move her to a ground floor room. No fuss, just helpful. Dinner fantastic, breakfast plentiful and service excellent.

Review 112:The needs were terrible - so old and creaky. The walls sound like they're made of tissue. You can hear everything through them and it's very loud which is horrible when you need to sleep to get an early flight

Review 113:Proximity to the airport

Review 114:The house and room have a worn feel. Not in the classy vintage way, more in a tired cira 70's way. You can tell some renovations have been done, although in a haphazard DIY fashion.

Review 115:This place is ideally located for a flight from Gatwick. The shuttle has a small fee, atlhough it is cheaper than a taxi. Easy walking distance from the train station. Clean.

Review 116:I thought a member of staff very moody made I big fuss when I asked for a wine glass she said I might spill some .My room was outside the main building had to draw my curtains so people passing would not look in Won't stay again .

Review 117:Nothing

Review 118:There isn't anything that we didn't like.

Review 119:Friendly staff, excellent food, room clean and had good facilities. Stayed here with my daughter the night before travelling on holiday. Our second visit here. Would defiantly recommend it.

Review 120:No air conditioning so room got very warm. Car park is a little cramped so some people may struggle manoeuvring their vehicle.

Review 121:Very friendly and welcoming staff. Good services close by, i.e. restaurants, pubs, supermarket, train station all within a short, leisurely walk.

Review 122:We were a little disappointed that on arrival we had to pay car park for the night in which we stayed. This was nit publicised. We had 2 bedrooms within our own cooridor however there were stairs directly out of the bedrooms so we had to put our youngest son in with us in case he wandered in the night as we didn't want all the doors shut because of the other children. A stair gate would have been perfect.

Review 123:Perfect location for the airport. The bar/restaurant looked lovely, however we didn't try it as had 3 children with us.

Review 124:If you are allergic to dust, don't book this hotel! Very small room with a smell of dust throughout, a very noisy bed and miniature shower room.

Review 125:The only positive thing is that the property is 10 min. walking from railway station.

Review 126:No bad experience

Review 127:We were able to get 3 adults and two children in the one room comfortably excellent bathroom. Very good value for money and close to the airport.

Review 128:Handy for Gatwick Airport and it really only did take 5mins in off-peak traffic by their airport transfer to get to the airport! Good value for 2 adults and 2 teenagers in the family room and great breakfast. We walked from Horley train station easily.

The Fine Print

The Airport Shuttle costs GBP 6 each way, charged per room, please contact the property to arrange it.
