Reviews for The Half Moon Inn
Review 1:Windows need replacing very draughty. 1 bath towel per person inadequate. 1 bar of soap inadequate. Radiator in bathroom broken so no heating at all, in the winter need some heat, although the radiator in the room did not come on at all during the day. When you walked into the bathroom the floor dropped and so creaky needs replaced.
Review 2:The food was excellent. Staff very friendly. Bar was lovely.
Review 3:Very noisy . room above the bar ,music playing until 2.30 , bed dated and very noisy .squeeky floorboards all through room and bathroom, walls thin could hear every thing from above and next door.
Review 4:Lovely breakfast
Review 5:The smoking terrace in the bar had its doors open and the smell of smoke was strong in the bar. only had the 1 drink due to this. Unfortunately realised the next morning that our room was directly above this area and so had to shut our window because of the strong smell of cigarette smoke which rose into our room. If you are avid non smokers book rooms at the front of the hotel would be my advice.
Review 6:Friendly Staff with a warm welcome and good breakfast, excellent shower in our room 3. on the whole the hotel offered good value.
Review 7:Room lay out. bed in kitchen as well .rusty kettle could not use .beds very noisy no headboards . Not clean or welcoming . Breakfast no choice of egg or bread . Pre cooked and strong smell of cigarettes .
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:Breakfast could have been better. Noise from customers outside pub while having a smoke, not against this but was quite late at night.
Review 10:Lovely location, nice little B&B within a pub. Evening meal was good with very friendly staff throughout.
Review 11:When I booked the inn there was a box to fill for allergies as my wife is coeliac and needs a gluten free diet which was difficult for them to provide
Review 12:The position of the inn was very good for us to visit places of interest also very easy access to m25 and Gatwick and Heathrow airports
Review 13:Friendly staff, made to feel welcome And the breakfast was fantastic , we usually stay at theTalbot hotel opposite but not anymore half moon inn much better all round
Review 14:our neighbour kept me awake til 1 45 am was going to bang on wall but went quiet taxi driver parked opp inn and never helped with luggage when ask how much we owe he banged the seat so we would put money down on it and never spoke only to ask here we were going not impressed with him
Review 15:Staff very pleasant and meet and greetexcellant food was delicious and plenty of it I've never seen a young couple work so hard serving meals and doing bar top marks for them and the lady who done breakfast excellant
Review 16:Creaky beds - one had no headboard so pillows kept falling on the floor
Review 17:Cottage full of character like the bar and much more space than our twin room at the top of the stairs that we had last time - very small! Delicious light bites in the evening - toasted ciabatta and the best prawn cocktail I've had in a long time - Andrew's a very pleasant barman.
Review 18:Needed to telephone to able to access as all doors were locked. Would have difficult if I hadn't had the telephone number with me.
Review 19:Breakfast, shower room
Review 20:1 of the beds in a kitchen !!! 2 others in a living room , all a bit bizzare. Breakfast cooked and served by a man wearing a dirty shirt 2 days running.
Review 21:location
Review 22:We liked the really helpful service from the Scottish gentleman who served us breakfast. And the lady who I spoke to on the telephone about checking in late (11.30pm), she was really friendly.
Review 23:The room unfortunatey smelt badly of smoke, we are non smokers and didn't realise we were being put in a smoking room. Early breakfast times and check out for a Sunday!
Review 24:Lovely location, free wifi
Review 25:Place was shut when we got there had to phone a number stuck on the door to check in, that took 15min. The 'free car parking' was free, but round the back on Ripley common. Paper thin walls & kept awake most of the night by other guests, not being over loud just normal. It was like we were sharing with them. One of the worst cooked breakfasts I've ever had, 1 horrible sausage. 2 rubber bits of bacon, beans, tinned chopped microwaved tomatoes slopping about the plate & an egg which is the only thing I ate. Also had a slice of toast & 2 weetabix.
Review 26:The location was about 5 mins from where we were going. Got 25 pound refunded from my 80 pound bill after complaining, but room & service etc was only worth about 35 pound in my opinion.
Review 27:Tinned tomatoes as part of a full English breakfast (stop it). Dodgy wi-fi. I was working late and has to go to the bar to pick it up.
Review 28:Very welcoming, friendly but professional staff. Cosy room with comfortable bed.
Review 29:Booked this hotel from NZ. We arrived a little early and the pub/hotel was closed, there was a phone no. to call but we decided to wait and have a drink at the Ship close by. We stayed 2 nights, as soon as we sat on the bed it squeaked and the headboard fell off! Our room did not feel clean and the red towels were old. We had breakfast which was reheated and the coffee was very strong, served in a teapot and was instant coffee! No one was around when we checked out and we had to leave our room key hanging in the hall. A few days later we had an email to say they did not accept amex as payment even though we had booked our room with it months before. We then had to phone them and pay using another credit card. We had our second breakfast in the Talbot Inn, and our dinner that night. We should have stayed there, it was wonderful.
Review 30:Handy location for what we wanted to do.
Review 31:Our stay was very brief -- arrived late and left early. Had a bit of trouble coming in following AA directions as road names seemed to disappear once we were close. Directions with key landmarks or intersections on the Inn's website would help navigate the final in-town routes.
Review 32:Chose this location looking to be within easy distance of Hampton Court the next day. Enjoyed the ambiance of an old inn. Staff were very helpful. Room was over the pub and even though we were there Saturday night, we were not disturbed by patrons. Hot shower and good beds were a must. Had dinner and breakfast -- both were very well done. Enjoyed the wine as well.
Review 33:Room was very tight even with an en suite, not even a chair to sit on if you were staying in.
Review 34:Area and breakfast although this was very restricted in time 7am- 8.15. Not good if on a holiday. The staff, except at breakfast, conspicuous by their absence. Every thing very clean.
Review 35:The cottage was not good-filthy carpet, the sink was the same and dust every where. The discovery of a pair of dirty socks under the pillow on one of the beds was just not acceptable as it showed that the beds were not freshly laundered. So disappointingly we will not be repeating the experience.
Review 36:The breakfast and the lady who cooked and served it were excellent.
Review 37:Initial room offered was small. The cottage was then offered to us which was excellent apart from a very creaky bed. Breakfasts could be varied a little we feel. Overall a comfortable stay.
Review 38:Very friendly helpful staff.
Review 39:The check in times changed without any warning. The toilet flush didn't work without taking the lid off. The shower had mold around it. Noisy as was above a pub, and when staff finished their shift and came upstairs to their accommodation they were very loud and had no consideration for the other guests trying to sleep. The floor boards in the bathroom were very squeaky.
Review 40:The staff were very helpful, friendly, the food was excellent. The bar was lovely and cosy. Parking was okay.
Review 41:Noisy party which lasted untill 3am, no sleep before long journey and breakfast very poor, burnt toast etc. when booking should have been warned about party would probably changed our mind and not booked

Review 100:the room we had was very small and not a lot of space to move around for 2 people. We were woken up a 1.30am by an australian girl phoning her mother in australia ,I knocked the window , no notice was taken,so opened the door of our room and was told she wouldn't stop talking as she was phoning her Mam . Well it sounded like she never need a phone to phone Australia This was right outside our Bedroom window in the courtyard. I did complain in the morning but the australian girl there denide it was her!!! There was also a lot of noise from a group of girls staying there early in the morning
Review 101:Ideal place for us to stop, Thought the pub was really nice.
Review 102:No water in the room No hair dryer No shampoo in the bathroom For £75 a night this should be standard. I've stayed in 100's of hotels around the world and they all have the above.
Review 103:The breakfast was dreadfull there was no friendly service from the lady that took your order and also cooked it she just plonked it down and did not ask if everything was OK or if we would like more tea or toast, it was very basic and not at all enjoyable, the food in the bar in the evening was miles better and the bar staff that took our order and served us our food were fantastic.
Review 104:The pub was fine and the staff were fantastic
Review 105:The hot water supply was difficult to regulate- it changed from warm to scalding with no warning We were only given one towel each, could have done with one small and one large each There was no tooth mug in the bathroom There were two small bars of soap, one for each of us but no shampoo/shower gel. These are minor faults but a bit disappointing given the good things about the place.
Review 106:Lovely old building, our room was comfortable and had lots of character. Our bathroom was large and appeared newly fitted. Our room was very clean Staff were welcoming and pleasant throughout and responded to all our requests. Breakfast was freshly cooked and good
Review 107:Basic accommodation and beds but I guess that is reflected in price for this location.
