The Gombás Kúria Mansion, Europa Nostra prize-winner in 2010, was built at the end of the 18th century as a wine house and a summer residence, and it is one of the oldest sights of Balatonfüred, located in the hillside.
The complex is situated at the foothills of the picturesque Mt. Thomas and boasts nice views over the surrounding mountains from its huge sun terrace. The garden provides barbecue facilities, while children can enjoy themselves at the small playground, or play table tennis and badminton.
The Gombás Kúria Mansion also features a wellness area, offers a Finnish sauna and an infrared cabin.
Tagore Promenade, alongside the shore of Lake Balaton in the centre of Balatonfüred, can be reached in 1.1 miles. Balatonfüred Train Station is 1.2 miles away, the city centre can be reached within 15 minutes on foot.

Review 1：A little far from the lake if you are on foot but not a big problem as the delightful house rather makes up for it

Review 2：Loved the property and ambiance, the owners both as people and as to the additional help they offered, beyond the normal or necessary.The breakfast and the honesty bar, located in a lounge with books and pictures. The central courtyard was beautiful.

Review 12：Very small rooms and uncomfortable bet. We had superior deluxe and standard room but there is only different in price. No receptionist, you must call before arriving. Late evening was problem get to the hotel. Gate closed, behind gate 3 dogs. Owner had doubts whether our children will not disturb the other guests. The hotel should be much cheaper.

Review 24：Quiet, beautifully restored accommodation, situated in a top location in Balatonfüred. The beach is easily reached in about 15 minutes. Also, the walk to the train station takes 20 minutes. Nice restaurants and pubs are nearby the mansion. Rich breakfast with authentic Hungarian specialities. The hosts are happy to serve you an additional hot or cold plate. Very clean rooms and common rooms. Shortly, here you'll find every ingredient you need for a relaxing and unforgettable holiday.

Review 49：We stayed in this amazing place for New Year’s Eve of 2013/2014. The building is a real gem. It was built in the 18th century, claimed to be the first house of the city. The owner has renovated it with great taste and as a result it has become a very cosy accommodation. Our host - the owner of the place - was really nice and friendly. Also, I must add that the breakfast was one of the best we ever had. It's a must try (both the hotel and the breakfast :)).

Review 62：Towels not changed: The towels were only changed once, and the bin in the bathroom only emptied once, during a four night stay. The rest of the room was not cleaned at all. Room facilities: The room had a small bathroom, with a very small shower cubicle and no shower gel. There was no mirror in the main room, only in the bathroom, which can be awkward when you are both trying to get ready at the same time. The room did not have a view. Location: The property is some distance from the lake, around a 25 minute uphill walk from the harbour. If you are planning to go on any days out, and don't have a car, you will be doing this walk at least twice every day (as the villa is in the suburbs). Poor value for money: Although it seems on the face of it as though this guest house is good value for money, it isn't. Meals in the nearby restaurants are a quarter of the price of those in the UK, so you would expect accommodation to be aligned, at least broadly. Also the price quoted isn't the price charged, due to the extras. The price on the website for 4 nights was £187. We paid 88,000 HUF, which is closer to £300. Extra is added for breakfast, air conditioning and a local tax (I think). Also, as the exchange rate changes over time, this makes a difference.

Our room was very large, with tasteful decor, immaculately clean with a good shower. It didn't have a hairdryer in the room but Gabor was very quick to offer the use of one from reception. Breakfast is delicious, whether it was the cold platter of meats and cheese or the fantastic ham and eggs. It's just a 15 minute walk from the lake, situated in a quieter residential area, which makes it even more romantic. Best of all is Gabor, the hotel owner - nothing is too much trouble. He will do everything he can to help you with bus times, pointing out local attractions and even taking you to and from the bus station.
