Reviews for Anna Grand Hotel Wine & Vital

Review 1:very uncomfortable/hard bed, very simple bed linen, tiny/far-away TV, lack of bathroom amenities for a 4-star hotel, old/stained towels, no complimentary water in room, cheap furniture, very basic breakfast selection, not 4-star, I would give this hotel-for interior quality/amenities-maximum 3 stars, needs an upgrade, bad parking-hotel access. outside 'grand' looking, but 'old school' inside - a pity, could be a great hotel

Review 2:location

Review 3:* A 4 Star Hotel and only buffet dinner and breakfast, furthermore the quality is only average. * The facility needs refurbishment in many areas.

Review 4:* Location is perfect * Spa is very nice * Staff was very friendly and helpful

Review 5:The photos of the 'deluxe' room are misleading. It's tiny and shabby, nothing like the picture. The layout of the hotel is weird. To get to the garage you have to go to the first floor, walk through narrow corridors, take more stairs, go through several doors then you'll enter the garage. You get a bathrobe and towel for the spa but had to return the bathrobe to the spa to get back a card covered with flaking plastic before you could check out. The spa entrance was next to the garage which means you had to navigate through a labyrinth to find it. How could this be a four star hotel if you can't leave a bath robe in a room? If they can't change the layout at least they could drop the old communist rules of 'let's complicate things and add something meaningless to stupefy them.' To have breakfast/dinner in a restaurant you have to go through a cafe, then a poorly lit open arcade which was windy and cold and we were dressed for the evening.

Review 6:Close to Lake Balaton. Breakfast was good.

Review 7:cleanliness could have been better. the beds were small and have been creaking all the time.the mattresses were not very good either. the wine bar was not well thought through, should be more integrated with the hotel itself and more "lively" - especially since the hotel's slogan also includes wine.

Review 8:perfect location, very close to the lake and the city centre. food was well prepared. wellness area is nice. beautiful old building.

Review 9:The food options, especilly for dinner. I can understand this is a general issue for Hungary (have been living here for 6 years now), but from a 4-star Grand Hotel I would have expected much better, healthier options.

Review 10:The wellness area, clean and with several facilities.

Review 11:shower too small , TV very small not working , no gym , empty room with only Puching Bag , no complimentary coffee making in room , no shuttle bus service.

Review 12:Mostly Surrounding area lots of activities , cafes , cultural historical sites . Had pool table , bowling . Pool , Spa, Solarium.

Review 13:The food was horrible. It is served buffet style, and looks as if it has been out for days. There are flies everywhere I the dining room. There is no wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby, cafe, dinning hall.

Review 14:It is a gorgeous property that has been renovated from an old monetary. The buildings and grounds are beautiful to look at. It is situated just behind the main promenade in Balatonfured, close to the marina, shops, restaurants, and cafes.

Review 15:Sink splattered water all over and drained very slow (front desk acted offended when I asked for someone to fix drain); no fitted sheets on mattress, so sheets easily come off the bed; we bought the half board package but the food was horrible; housekeeping was extremely rude when I told them I need 30 more min till they could clean the room; front desk told me when checking in that there was no wifi in room, next day the other staff person at front desk gave me a wireless device to get wifi in the room (but it only works within 5 feet where it's plugged in, so you got to sit at the desk always); miniature golf was literally a joke; pool had loose tile. this is only a 3 star hotel.

Review 16:Outside (facade & grounds) is nice

Review 17:It was an excellent location, quiet, clean. The wellnes area was very interesting. Perfect location to relax and to get out from the city and from the daily stress.

Review 18:- The bed and the bedsheets were the standard of a youth hostel with a very thin mattress and a paper thin sheet that covered only 7/8 of the bed. -The decor was outdated with lampshades that were dirty and broken.- THE LIGHTING IN THE BATHROOM WAS SO LOW THAT IT WAS V E R Y DIFFICULT TO PUT MAKE-UP OR TO SHAVE. - THE CARPET HAD STAINS ALL OVER. - THE STAFF AT THE RECEPTION WAS YOUNG AND FRIENDLY BUT WAS UNABLE TO GIVE ANY INFORMATION AND WAS ONLY TELLING US TO VISIT THE TOURISM OFFICE. - THE ODD LAY-OUT OF THE HOTEL : NO ELEVATOR COULD TAKE US FROM THE LOBBY TO OUR FLOOR AND THE WALK IS VERY LONG FROM POINT A TO POINT B.

Review 19:- This is a grand hotel and it is part of the history of balatonfured.- THE POOL AREA IS VERY NICE. - THE DINING ROOM IS BEAUTIFUL AND IT IS EASY TO IMAGINE BALLS TAKING PLACE THERE DURING ANOTHER PERIOD. - THE STAFF IN THE DINING ROOM IS PROFESSIONAL AND VERY PROPERLY DRESSED. - THE PARKING IS CONVENIENT. - THE LOCATION IS VERY GOOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ACTION.

Review 20:Toilet flush was too weak, mold in bathroom, sponge bed, and unwillingness to help from the staffs(staffs at the reception, not the waiters. They were very helpful) No first aid kit or some basic meds.

Review 21:3-star hotel management, staff not really polite and helpful with very poor english, mediocre breakfast & dinner, no wifi at the room. Hotel with potential but underutilized!

Review 22:Location, rooms, cleanliness

Review 23:The cafe of the hotel is not that popular because of the very simple design and choice of cakes.

Review 24:It was a pleasant opportunity to relax and enjoy the beauty of the place

Review 27:-dirty room -dinner, breakfest: no selection, no fantasy, no quality -service: sour waiters -wine: ???less then 8 different glassed, less than 15 to open, no selection at all. few wineries highlighted, the famous avarage ones you can find more in a pub anywhere /include other drinks/ -no cocktail at all -bowling: unfinished , empty fascility

Review 28:bed, swimming pool, part of stuff

Review 29:Hard bed´s, dirty environment, labyrint style Hotel, Poor food, parking not working, hard to find, lots of defects in the room, bad cleaning, need to be a acrobate to get in to the shower cabin, (35 cm clearance) A average 2 star Hotel. Never use again. No value for money at all.

Review 30:Location

Review 31:I think the problem with the housekeeping is that the rooms are just so big. It must be hard on staff to get through the hoovering alone! Also the bathroom shower fittings are disappointing. If half board is offered the menu could offer more quality and authticity if kept much more simple. Eg simple whole foods, grains and vegetarian options.

Review 32:Spa and location both very good. Its good to offer half board.

Review 33:The hotel interior is very old fashioned and the facilities are out dated! So is some of the staff! The premised used to be a sanatorium and that is what you feel everywhere! Not at all worth the price!

Review 34:The location is excellent - but it comes at a price that is too high for what the hotel represents!

Review 35:Egy nem jól feliratozott labirintusrendszerben két lifttel és pár lépcsővel kellett megküzdenünk a kofferekkel, míg a szobákhoz értünk. A büfévacsorán a hatalmas teremben a hideg tányéron gyorsan kihűlt az étel. A szobában nem volt bontó az italokhoz. A fürdő szörnyen sötét.

Review 36:Jó elhelyezkedés.

Review 37:We found 2 bugs when we entered the room. The evening buffet was quite traditional, not much healthy or vegetarian choice.

Review 38:Very calm, very central and perfect surrounding, beautiful sight from the 3rd floor corridor, very good breakfast, excellent spa.

Review 39:Noisy beds, poor sound insulation - everything could be heard from the hallway. The wellness and spa section is a bit of a letdown as not too many features are available. Parking is not so easy as it is accessible from another street but it's not so bad either.

Review 40:The location is great, really beautiful buildings and good breakfast.

Review 41:Hotel out dated with gloomy rooms. Balcony forget, like being in prison all bared up with 2 lonely stool's, view of parking place and run down buildings. Not 4 star...

Review 42:Town and area. Staff very helpful at Hotel. Hotel area outside is very good, beautiful park. Dinning area nice with friendly, helpful staff.

Review 43:The buffet breakfast and dinner should be improved.

Review 44:The staff at reception were very nice and the spa area was fantastic.

Review 45:Wellness, medencek, epulet

Review 46:not clean at all.

Review 47:the location only

Review 48:Food, room, cleanliness. Very basic at this price, all food is buffet not menu.

Review 49:nice parks around the hotel, great for a romantic walk in the evening

Review 50:Location at the lake, in the city. Food is delicious, Hungarian style.

Review 51:wi-fi doesn't work in rooms. You can only find it in public spaces

Review 52:Location is perfect

Review 53:Wifi only in the lobby. If you come by car, you have to go at the garage at first. It's difficult to find at first.

Review 54:just a few people speak english

Review 55:Food stale, place was creepy and was like being in a European version of The Shining.

Review 56:the room was very average, furniture seemed a bit cheap

Review 57:wellness, breakfast and dinner were excellent.

Review 58:Great location, very good spa, food was excellent. Make sure to visit the surrounding hills and valleys as well.

Review 59:Szoba tisztasága.

Review 60:Wellness és ételek.

Review 61:room comfort

Review 62:Location, facilities, restaurant

Review 63:"Confrence style facilities"

Review 64:Location; the surroundings, the views, the swimming pool.

Review 65:The dinner was just buffet which was a bit lacking in quality. No a la carte choice.

Review 66:The location, the building

Review 67:Food , they need to go to Koloska Casarda resturant in Balatonfured to find out how to cook.

Review 68:Swimming pools

Review 69:poor breakfast

Review 70:During our stay of four days, the elevator was out of order for a three days, no efforts from the hotel to fix elevator. We booked lux room but we couldn't get as all lux rooms were busy, from the hotel we just go an excuse. SPA canter is nice and comfortable but masseur was very unmotivated and unprofessional for her work, we booked two massage and every massage was shorter for a 10 minutes. Generally we will never stay again, total disappointment.

Review 71:Food in the restaurant is very Good.

Review 72:Dirty spa everything is full of limescale, room cleaning service terrible they did not make the beds properly during 4 days, worn down carpets, cracks on the walls, aircon not working, this is a weak-weak 3 start hotel, not a 4 star.

Review 73:Great location

Review 74:Staff attitude , could not get coffee in a 4 star hotel before 7 am . The hotel quoted a price online and charged per child extra which was not quoted or stated at check in. The bill doubled .. Consumer be ware ! False advertising ! Also, I booked the best available room and was given a standard room Was not a good experience, the hotel is NOT 4 star by any shot .. Far from being .. Yet the price was higher then a 5 star. When I raised this issue with staff .. They said that this complaint happens a lot

Review 75:I found to complicated the way of moving inside the hotel, the connection between the lift, reception and the 3-rd floor. Very noisy hotel. The assortment of the food was very narrow at breakfast and dinner, too; The price value of the food was disproportioned: big prices low value; The coffee and wine quality was very bad.

Review 76:The place around the hotel and inside was tidy, the staff were very pleasant and kind, lot of programs for Eastern.

Review 77:Do not have dinner in the hotel. Quite tired hotel. Elevator was not working. No double bed in 100 rooms. No internet in the rooms.

Review 78:Beatiful location. Very nice building. Very nice nature.

Review 79:Poor variety of food evening, staff was pushing guest to leave. Bar was very old fashioned, reminding us the communist era. Labyrinth style of building.

Review 80:Great size of room with a nice ambient. Excellent location.

Review 81:Staff wasn't friendly at all. There is no WiFi in rooms, only in lobby. Not really comfortable that the restaurant is not in the main building, you have to walk in another one.

Review 82:We must to change the room because of dirty bed clothes!!!...I must leave sauna because of private program there! Without warning! Food nothing special... deep below Hungarian average

Review 83:Nice place close to the water

Review 84:Small things were missing: as shower-carpet/towel, Body Lotion in the bathroom; no matress covers and only a thin linnnen, which kept moving off the matress; The wall-to-wall carpet was pretty much worn off in the hotel, the carpet was not thouroughly vacuumed in the room. Too many people with yelling kids in the spa area, not enough canvas chairs for all. Sauna not seperated: everyone going in with bathing suits ON! I would have expected a little more eye on the detail in a 4* hotel.

Review 85:Location at the lake was great! Nice surrounding, building of the Hotel was feudal. Big pool. Price was moderate.

Review 86:Not worth the price we paid; restaurant was like a canteen; cheap bathroom; stains on the carpet

Review 87:Was quite clean, staff was friendly; building is very beautiful

Review 88:Poor quality hotel. Nice image from outside but inside low quality rooms and services, dirty carpets, confusing corridors, broken furnitures in the rooms, infra sauna was dirty, the size of the TV is a joke...not a 4 star hotel at all!!

Review 89:Very good location.Food is ok.

Review 90:As in the case of most hotels in Hungary, the management dos not know enough about godd service. For more money to get, they try to give the least they can. The rooms are dirty, carpets should be changed, etc. there is no aircondition in the rooms (there are, but they doesn't work), so in sommer, it is unbearable. Food is good enaugh, if you does not need gluten or sugar free dietary things, because you can't find.

Review 91:The Hotel is in the middle of Balatonfüred with a nice surrouning. The building itself is historical and beautiful. It has a pool, which is very good, and it takes place close to Balaton.

Review 92:Long walk from reception to room. Not targeted guests: families, couples, elder. Too pricy for irrelevant details. Dusty room. Lot of options but not much quality in performing them: massage not great and noisy room, sauna not hot enough, towels of different sizes, not much additional towels on the room, bed not done properly, tv ridiculously small, difficulties in understanding English.

Review 93:Facilities Staff friendly Food Wide offerings

Review 94:The normal rooms are a bit run down, although the bathroom is decent size no place to put toiletries. Not enough lights in the parking area.

Review 95:Excellent location and very friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are large enough. Enough secure parking inside and outside.

Review 96:Facing paper on the wall broken. Walls were broken, cracked. Tv was too small. Shower broken, no hot water. Wc at wellness department were horrible...

Review 97:Food was perfect! Staff is polite and helpful. Nice area.

Review 98:Breakfast is average at best. The wine selection does not live up to theexpectation of a quality selection. There are much much better (red orwhite) Hungarian wines from Balaton region (Jásdi, Légli Géza etc.).

Review 99:Central location, overlooking a beautiful square, 100 meters from lakeBalaton and the main walking street where you will find restaurants andbars. Excellent staff! Great cleaning. The rooms are fine. It does notreally have the lakeside feeling as it is in the old town overlookingnice but concrete square but great if you want to use the spa, relaxingwalks and nightlife. The building is beautiful. Nice staff - or did Imention that already:)

Review 100:The only small negative thing is: that they do not have a place where to store the bikes - but they offered us a locked place on a corridor

Review 101:The place is excellent, long walks, surrounded by a small forest. Good playground for children. I recomend to everybody. The food is very delicios.

Review 102:Found an empty beer bottle in the room, behind the courtains, a clearmiss from the cleaning staff. Spa options are a bit limited, and seemedthey weren't prepared for a full house, as on the first day theydidn't have towels left. Also the access to the Spa could be better,as we needed to walk across the staircase that accesses the garage, andwearing bathrobes, which was unpleasant and cold when you are comingback to the rooms after the spa

Review 103:Great location, staff was very helpful and nice. Spa is good but limitedin offer. Breakfast is diverse. Rooms are cozy and comfortable

Review 104:We spent three weeks in Europe in 8 different hotels. The Anna GrandHotel was a big disappointment. Location was as expected. The picturesof the rooms and the inner hotel flatter way too much. The carpets inthe room were filthy! As were most of the carpets in the hallways. Theshower so small and made of plexiglass. I felt like I would knock thewalls of the shower out if I leaned on the wall. We showed up in therestaurant to have dinner and were told we were not welcome without aprepaid meal of the buffet. We went to the front desk and paid for onenight of meals, which was expensive for what was served, only to findout after our buffet, that we could have ordered from a menu, but therestaurant prefers not to do so. We found this out from a guest of thehotel who had ordered from the menu and not the staff. Also, staff ofall the hotels in which we stayed were able to at least try andcommunicate with us. Not so at the Anna Grand. Their lack of Englishmade staying there a very trying experience. I speak some German andeven at that it was very difficult to communicate with the staff.

Review 105:The grounds and building are nice.

Review 106:A few details were not perfect in the room (the shower dorr couldn't be closed, the water faucet wasn't firmly fixed to the basin...). We used to go for the dinner shortly before its end and not all the food was still warm.

Review 107:Nice building from both the outside and the inside, nice room and very nice and professional staff.

Review 108:Everything was ok - may be it is worth to ahve some more shampoos orsmth else in the bathroom - but in any case it was quite good

Review 109:It was really quite good - location, staff, breakfast - everything wasexcellent spa center and pools were perfect

Review 110:We spent 3 days in this hotel with my wife in July 2012. The hotel really lives up to it's name, it is "grand" in almost all regards. The building is very elegant from outside and inside, built in beautiful "classicist" style and surrounded by buildings built around the same time. The area reflects the atmosphere of the golden age of Balatonfured 100-150 years ago when poets, writers and aristocrats of Hungary came here to relax. The hotel is located in the very center of this area and it seems like it went through a major facelift few years ago. The town itself is also beautifully renovated and offers great bars, restaurants and shops with a nice view of the Tihany peninsula. Tihany is about 15 minutes drive away, and definitely worth visiting for breathtaking views of lake Balaton. Some specifics:Pros:-wellness area is superb, very nice and modern, offers a great alternative to the Balaton on days when the weather is cooler or if you just want to relax without leaving the hotel. We spent a few hours every day there, enjoying the swimming pool, "adventure pool" and 4 different kind of saunas-breakfast was huge, hard to resist not to try everything, food was very delicious. Even champagne was offered, what I had never seen before in other hotels.

Review 111:rooms were a little too warm, even with air con on full but it was very hot outside.

Review 112:Beautiful, well maintained building in a lovely location. Wellness centre particularly nice. Loved the Cafe!

Review 113:Fairly average experience; mine was a late booking for the very last room and I paid a wildly inflated rate (think five star) completely unjustified by the quality hotel and the service provided. Even at a normal rate, I wouldn't return. I had by mistake booked a double room, pointed out my mistake at check-in, but was unable to convince staff that I should be billed for single occupancy. - Wireless only in public areas (cabled internet in room - no good if you are on a smart phone or iPhone) - Uninspiring, but comprehensive breakfast - Dinky shower cabin - Tiny TV far from the bed - Underground car park partly unlit - Foam pillows (not down) - Hotel and wellness guide in room in cheap & worn binders and curled pages: not at all inviting - Considering that the hotel is located in a wine region, surprisingly poor selection of wine in the minibar All in all, I would say that this is one those hotels that sees no incentive to making a guest's stay a nice experience; obviously the location seeks the hotel during the summer months

Review 114:Close to the shore and all facilities; impressive period buildings

Review 115:The Anna Grand Hotel is just that – grand. It is a beautiful hotel on alovely large piece of land in an excellent location. The only thing thatcould be bettered was if it had a private beach (as I found the localbeach to be extortionately expensive, even in £’s), but because of thehotel’s location I can understand that is not possible; just fancifulthinking on my part! We stayed in a deluxe double room which had alovely view of the courtyard - tip: turn the air con down to 10 and thefan up to high when you go out in the morning and it is nice and chilledwhen you get back in the afternoon. The service was always very pleasant and helpful and there was a good breakfast spread. The mini-golf is great fun and the swimming pools, etc provided great enjoyment. I did not make use of the spa although the menu was inviting and quite reasonably priced. The wine store is extensive and provides a good selection of Hungarian wines, including a very tasty ice wine. We had dinner most nights at a restaurant right next door to the entrance to the beach – end of the promenade if you walk left when leaving the hotel, really good food and really good service (would help if I could remember the name! Very large, upstairs, downstairs, front and back terrace and right on the beach). Also very reasonably priced.

Review 116:Quaility and seize of room was a bit modest for the price we paid, breakfast good but not very sophisticated nor stylish.

Review 117:Location, wellness, nice atmosphere

Review 118:It is right in the middle of the town center but a bit far from thetrain station. Just right at the seaside where the area is very pleasentand relax. Hotel is very clean, big and very comfortable. THe spa isexecellant, even it is not much going on the seaside during winter time,it is also good to stay in the spa. Price is a bit high, but worth for astay. Breadfast is execellant!! Will definitely introduce to friends!

Review 119:Room was to far from the reception..

Review 120:Location, food..

Review 121:Poor quality of the breakfast, coffee is terrible

Review 122:Nice hotel, well situated

Review 123:No private beach.

Review 124:Nice hotel close to the Balatonfured lake. Good breakfast and dinner, nice and quiet restaurant.

Review 125:The beds were really uncomfortable and the air conditioning was barely working on a hot day.

Review 126:big distance to the beach

Review 127:everything

Review 128:room is a bit dusty . bed was hard .

Review 129:nice hotel , beautiful surrounding , park , close to balaton . really nice

Review 130:excellent breakfast
