Review 1:They advise that waiting time for transfer on return is circa 20 minutes. We had to wait for 40.

Review 2:Chosen more for the parking than anything else - we only wanted the room for a few hours. Check-in was simple, room was comfortable, transfer to terminal was efficient.

Friendly, helpful staff; great location; comfortable, spacious room; trouble free transfers to the airport plus secure parking all at a very reasonable price AND the restaurant menu and breakfast was good and reasonably priced as well. I would definitely recommend The Cambridge as the place to stay if you are flying from Gatwick and need overnight accommodation in the vicinity of the airport.

Review 15:This was the first time I decided to have breakfast. I was asked to pay for it in advance at the reception desk. I arrived in the diningroom and a cooked breakfast was put in front of me without me being asked what I wanted. This is the first time I have ever experienced this and I've stayed in many hotels, guest houses and lodges. There was no fresh fruit, not even tinned! No croissants, cheese, nor cold meat. I can't understand why it is assumed everyone likes 2 boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, beans and mushrooms! What about vegetarians and people with allergies to eggs ? Such a waste of food! I left most of it and wished I'd stayed in bed for an extra half hour! A help yourself buffet would be a far better option.

Review 32:We did not know our way around shuttle buses at airport, how and where the stops are, phones. Could customers be given a plan, to help them find the stop for the bus? and details about phoning the hotel? The hotel was excellent, but the airport aspect was difficult.

Review 33:As elderly travellers, who are not familiar with airport hotels and shuttle buses we found the hotel most suitable.

Review 34:We had a room in the attic garret. It was very warm and stuffy. We can't imagine being there if it was a warm day/night. The toilet didn't flush - handle broke. Shower knobs were strange and difficult to figure out. Front desk clerk wasn't friendly.

Review 40:Really good value for money. Easy to find park and stay. The room was very clean but the decor was fairly dated. The staff were very helpful when I called to confirm we needed a travel cot. Also the room was very cool on one of the hottest days of the year.

Review 41:Fantastic meal in the restaurant in the evening. Used the hotel the night before we flew from Gatwick and they stored our car for the 3 weeks were away. excellent shuttle service to and from the airport and with the overnight stay, excellent value for money.

Review 43:We had no hot water in the evening or in the morning. We complained to the manager who said Luke warm water was fine. The manager was rude, unhelpful and seriously lacked customer service skills.

Review 66:When I booked this stay I phoned up to check that the room was suitable for three adults and one child and was told that the room I would get was very large with large bunk beds to suit adults plus a double bed. The room we were given was up in the roof and it was not possible to walk in the room without bending over to avoid hitting your head. Two of the beds were very close to the roof and you dare not sit up.

Review 68:The bed pillows and quilt were unsatisfactory. Infact there wasnt even a quilt just a sheet and a blanket. The bed was very springy and cheap feeling and the pillows were thin.

Review 69:First room door lock broken, moved straight away without issue, but neither room had good internet connection, overall very average for business usage. Although can see benefits for airport convenience.

Review 70:The receptionist was very unsmiling and not very welcoming on arrival. On departure, there was no enquiry about my stay at all.

Review 72:Our bedroom door had no means of shutting securely or locking. We weregiven a key but there was no contact of fixing bar with the wallfitting, I.e the hole. We used a chair under the handle and a very heavytable to hold the door shut during the night.

Review 75:After a long flight the object of staying here was just to catch up on sleep so nearly didn't book a table for an evening meal. We are so glad we did though... The food was outstanding. Jack the head waiter was very professional and ensured we were well attended to... Definitely recommended.

Review 76:Room was shabby with electric socket hanging off the wall and dirty wet patches on carpet. Shuttle bus revved up outside our window several times during the night. Long wait for shuttle at airport bus stop then nearly didn't get seats when all the late comers rushed forward and got on first ! Nearly had to wait another 59 mins in the cold !

Review 78:On our last 2 occasions, when we contacted the hotel from Gatwick North No 8 bus stop, our car was not "ready at the front for you" as we are usually told and then we had to go and find it ourselves somewhere round the corner near the hedge !!! Other than that all is good.

Review 82:in the attic so natural light only by velux, which offered no real light, but then didn't need curtains. I have no idea what is up on the roof but a bad night sleep by noises from the roof and the wind moving things up there. I doubt it was a tree, but that's what it sounded like.

Review 88:We needed a hotel for the nights before and after our holiday and the Cambridge was perfect. Very reasonable price which included the parking and the transfer to and from Gatwick was only £4 and was very easy and quick. The food in the restaurant was very impressive and the service throughout faultless. We would stay again if we ever travel from Gatwick again.

Review 90:Once again we had a very good stay at Cambridge Hotel and also meal prior to our flight. Transfer was good and at time requested, and also on return. No problems with parking of car for holiday period.also stayed night of return as late arrival back.

Review 91:This is not a hotel for people that are traveling for business. I stayed 2 nights and I wanted one bill for the total stay. I think I ended up with 7 receipts for one stay. I had to pay for the room on arrival and then again in the bar. I was told that I have to spend £10 if I wished to use a card. I explained that I was going to eat in the restaurant and then found that I had to pay separately again!!! I also asked if I could eat in the bar area and was told it was not possible. Poor service. The only hotel that I have stayed in that is not able to link the till systems. A small investment for a hotel of this size. The room was very old fashion and lacks investment. Bed was not comfortable at all.

Review 108:Polite and helpful staff, clean and tidy room.We dined in the evening in the restaurant and had full English breakfast before our departure. Excellent food and good value. The lift to the airport was on time and delivered us to the departures in good time for our flight.

Review 109:Did not sleep at hotel as had late night flight from Gatwick. Used hotel as a base to start our holiday. Had dinner in restaurant which was excellent and very good value. Left car at hotel and used their transfers to and from airport. Would definitely recommend using this hotel to start and end your holiday and to leave your car. An excellent experience all round.

Review 110:Rang hotel on return informed of 10 min wait 30min later rang again told 10 min again in total we waited 1.hour not acceptable. This is second time at hotel so very upset this time will look at other hotels next time.

Review 114:1. Totally disorganised parking, cars everywhere, uneven ground, no proper allocated bays, cars three and four deep in places. Seeing this, we nearly cancelled, wish we had.2. Took over 45 minutes to pick us up from airport on our return. No apology whatsoever from the arrogant self defensive chief receptionist, in fact, she suggested it was our fault because they had no record of us coming back on that day!!!!! 3. Customer's car keys 'stored' in plastic open boxes and hook board, all on view behind the counter, really easy for any thief to steal. 4. It took 20 minutes to find our car keys after they tipped them out of boxes and had to ferret through them all. 5.When we got the keys, we found the car was boxed in and had to go back to reception to ask the surly chief receptionist to get us unblocked. 6. Wish we had looked at the Google reviews about this hotel. Apparently they are not insured to drive your car, which they do and then disclaim responsibility for damage. Those reviews also state the surly defensive disinterested attitude of the receptionist that we encountered. Only one receptionist was really nice but seemed to be made the scape goat for this unprofessional, disgracefully organised, disastrous hotel that treats its customers, their cars and their car keys with no duty of care whatsoever. Finally, our car door was damaged, so overall, it cost us more in time, stress and money. Big lesson learnt.

Review 115:The only good point was the room. Clean and well furnished.

Review 116:The lack of hot water. No shower mat. No mat by shower. Impossible parking (if you could find a space, your car would be blocked in). No welcome at all by stressed staff being harassed by the staff at their sister hotel. No information on food!!!. I describe this as a car park with bedrooms. No bedside table to put your tea. T.v affected by generated!! Rubbish!!!!

Review 118:Staff were grouchy, room poorly furnished, no phone, no hotel info book, no nightstands, bare walls, only furniture two twin beds and two dining table chairs, tv on wall to side of beds so difficult to see from bed. Built in very small wardrobe, no shelves and just two hangers. The hotel car park was jammed with cars left by guests who used the airport, extremely difficult to park each evening for staying guests, no spaces and no organization, it was like trying to park at a music festival !

Review 120:Booked 2 double rooms but got twin bedded which.staff then.pushedtogether and covered with a sheet that didn't fit!!. Damp in therooms water damaged. Industrial fan on the dressing table. Staffapproached had a bad attitude and offered sub.standard alternative. Ifwe had wanted to stay in what was a car park it would have beenmuch.cheaper to stay in a ncp. Parking is surely health and safetyissue. Would not recommend a complete waste of money!!. Never again!!

Review 124:I never saw so many cars around...... The owner makes a deal with passengers facing Gatwick as their destination; offering parkingspace, room end transport to/from Gatwick Airport. During nighttime it was very busy swapping cars around.

Review 126:Mistake re wrong night booked discovered 24 hours in advance but no refund. Upon return, I tripped on your mat at the bottom of the steps in the front of the hotel. Receptionist gave me plaster but was too busy to refer me to senior member of staff for me to show where the mat had curled up as I wanted to prevent someone-else falling and hurting themselves. The fall ripped my trousers at the knee and a massive bruise resulted. Took a long time for transport to arrive at airport to collect us and 2 of our party were brought back to the hotel by Days Inn, a hotel opposite. This was absolutely fine, but surely, as we had paid for transport, this should have been available.

Review 127:Rooms booked in on wrong date in error by ourselves. Hotel able to accommodate us by immediately cleaning out alternative rooms Very clean rooms. Ideally situated for airport and great food,

Review 128:Where do I start? 1) Rooms too small for number of people 2) Bunk beds unsuitable for guests over 1.4m high (or 5Ft tall.) 3) Fitments not fitted properly - towel rails hanging off, picture downlights used as bedside wall lights fitted too close to guests head? 4) Shuttle drivers driving dangerously - including sending a text one-handed while driving with guests in minibus.

Review 130:Room at front was too noisy with people departing for early flights. Nothing for kids to do, two families were obviously there to catch a flight the next morning and they had nothing to do other than charge around on the terrace. Food was expensive, need to do snacks and sandwiches.
