Reviews for The WatersEdge, Canal Cottages
Review 1:Rooms were freezing cold with only a small electric radiator. Got burnt and frozen using the shower Decking outside room was slimy thus very dangerous
Review 2:TV did not work nor did wifi. We were only there one night before flying back to Australia from Heathrow and the staff were busy with a big Christmas party so we didn't bother them about the TV and wifi
Review 3:Being near the canal. Quiet and comfortable
Review 4:Not clean. Holes in walls. Bathroom unclean. Wires hanging from headboard. Blinds broken. Electric box hanging from a hole in the wall and "cottage"/ room was attached to a smoking hut with music blaring out to rowdy customers.
Review 5:I have contacted your customer services several times to no avail. The stay was horrendous and to place a 4 Star rating on this venue is grossly misguiding in fact it's a blatant lie..
Review 6:Nothing!
Review 7:Beautiful location, close to airport. Very helpful staff. Lovely walks for the dogs a few minutes away. Restaurant was closed when we were there over Xmas, but lots choice of places to eat nearby. Appreciated our Xmas present from the staff too!
Review 8:Breakfast is lame - yogurt, apple/orange, tiny boxes of cereal in the room - but who wants cheese, ham and a bread roll for breakfast? At least get some bread, butter and a toaster. No staff around early morning so checking out is not good either. Room had tiny beds. Bathroom door was unlike anything I've ever seen - a sliding wardrobe type door with no closing mechanism or lock. When running the water it made a racket - some kind of pump, I guess. First night it was raining hard and the guttering outside is not connected so there was the constant slapping sound of water right outside the door. Some rainwater was also getting in the front door which clearly needs sealing. Blinds on the windows were easily seen through from the outside. Shower sprays out at pipe connection. Room was tidy and clean, but really needs some changes because it's been thrown up cheaply and it shows. Just about OK for 3 lads working away, but certainly a million miles from anywhere I'd take the mrs. Highly recommend 'Sipson' curry house about a mile or 2 down the road. Fantastic.
Review 9:Staff were friendly and informative. Nice bar/restaurant.
Review 10:Such a shame that the place is not open for a buffet breakfast, but the current arrangement with fridge in the room is fine (except, perhaps, for the bread, which tends to get a little stale).
Review 11:Excellent location, quiet, and very pleasant along the canal - yet close to main areas in Western London and beyond the M25.
Review 12:We had a wonderful meal. Restaurant is in lovely setting and accommodation was very clean and modern and quite. Lovely bedding. Bed really comfortable. We had the blue room. Only 2 points I would like to raise. More pillows in the room would have been great and blind needs replacing as it let light into room from garden and could be overlooked by people outside. Would definitely recommend water's edge
Review 13:Breakfast left in room 'but only small table and one chair, not convenient for family of four.there was no ventilation system in toilet.
Review 14:Lovely spot
Review 15:I booked this hotel as a present for my parents, and sent multiple emails to check that I could pay for their stay in advance. I never received a single reply. Eventually, I called and spoke to a young man on a very noisy line (as if he was in a busy bar area), who assured me that it would be fine for payment to be taken from my credit card, even though I wouldn't be present when they checked in. However, this was not the case at all, and so my dad ended up having to pay for his own 60th birthday present. Thanks a lot, WatersEdge!
Review 16:Great value and location, with continental breakfast in room. Very convenient for Heathrow Airport.
Review 17:Fridge in the room with freash milk, rolls, cheese and cereals for breakfast. Not expected and very, very welcome (we had to leave at 5am for an early flight)
Review 18:Room was small
Review 19:the location was unique - 5 miles from Heathrow, half a mile from high street, Uxbridge but right on a canal in a world away from the traffic. The food at the pub was exceptional.View from room as shown!
Review 20:Room in a noisy area (next to the outside smoking area) but didn't bother me as I don;t go to sleep until 11.30pm by which point the punters have gone home and you can hear a pin drop !!.
Review 21:Friendly staff, good food, comfy room, reasonably priced, good location for Heathrow and West/Central London. Good wifi, good powerful hot shower.
Review 22:The photos that are used to advertise the property are misleading. We decided to book and stay at a different Hotel. In future I will take the time to read other people's reviews before I book.
Review 23:For a £90 room, I've had a better continental breakfast in hotels where I've paid less than £30 a night in the UK. Bed is ok but not the most comfortable in the world.
Review 24:It's a good location for a trip to London
Review 25:Breakfast was woefull - the worst we've had in all our B&B's also no toiletries supplied, no bathroom ammenities eg no towel racks, toiler roll holders, hairdryer, iron ( even though these were requested they were not delivered). Door fell off bathroom. The photographs of the grounds & external surroundings were not a true representation of what was there. Ie run down & not well maintained.
Review 26:Close to Heathrow for an early morning drive to return hire car. Restaurant was excellent in regard to food & set up but agree with other comments about unacceptable behaviour of other patrons.
Review 27:Location was VERY hard to find - Mapquest sent us to the wrong place. The beds were not comfortable - need to be replaced or upgraded or even if they had a mattress pad on them that would have helped.
Review 28:Staff was friendly and very helpful! The food in the pub/restaurant was great. Setting on the water would have been nicer if it had not been so cold and rainy. Enjoyed having a little fridge in the room with the breakfast makings in it.
Review 29:The room was a little chilly and couldn't get the radiator to work. To be fair on the owners, I didn't raise this with them so they had no chance to put it right.
Review 30:Easy, plentiful parking and a quiet location. Nice pub right on the doorstep but didn't have a chance to try it unfortunately. Left an item behind and the owners contacted me, which was very pleasing.
Review 31:The room was a good size, clean and offered the services we needed for a one night stay. They offered a continental breakfast in the room as well as access to a kettle and tea and coffee. The restaurant had very good food with very friendly staff.
Review 32:A lovely hotel. With staff that listen and will do anything they can to help. Chris the manager is very friendly and approachable and nothing is too much trouble.
Review 33:I would have liked a granola bar for breakfast.
Review 34:We arrived late and the staff waited for us. The setting was great. The continental breakfast was good.
Review 35:Happy with accommodation (The Blue Room)apart from the awful bed.Mattress offered no support. Soft and very lumpy, was able to feel the springs sticking into me.Hence had minimal sleep, not good prior to a transatlantic flight :(
Review 36:Close to Uni and Heathrow Outside seating by canal Reasonable room rate Very clean room
Review 37:Tired and somewhat dilapidated furnishings. Breakfast just minimal provisions (no fruit juice) placed in a room fridge the day before.
Review 38:Friendly staff and good secure parking. Good restaurant cooking.
Review 39:Nothing really to dislike more personal preference.
Review 40:Staff very very friendly, food excellent, place very clean. Locals friendly just a really lovely hotel. Not only made us comfortable but my boys very welcome and comfortable to as well. Loved the boats going past through the day, lovely walks down the canal. Easy excess to major supermarket walking distance down the canal. Easy excess of buses and tube into the centre of London.
Review 41:The place was lovely and clean. Perfect location to the wedding I was going to less than a mile away. Would have loved the option of a cooked breakfast but appreciated having food in the room to have something before the restaurant opened. Would recommend .
Review 42:Breakfast was real basic. Could potentially be noisy as there is a public bar with courtyard by the room. It ok on the Monday we were there though.
Review 43:Handy to Heathrow for overnighter, nice setting.
Review 44:Quirky canal cottage, so handy for harry Potter studios and Heathrow.Didn't expect any breakfast so pleased there was a fridge and continental breakfast in room.lovely to sit on small terrace watching canal boats
Review 45:I think they need to buy new mattress for the blue room where we stayed .we kept falling into the middle .not good .
Review 46:Friendly staff location and food was good
Review 47:I have been working nights so thought it would be nice for me and my daughter to have a treat by the canal. When we arrived there was no restaurant, no bar it was all booked out fora wedding which went on till 1.30am. And then the next door neighbours carried on till gone 3 in the morning so had no sleep. I think we should have been told there was a wedding because then maybe I would have changed. So not a happy person wasted £65 for a night with no sleep. Breakfast was a bread roll. Think I should be substituted for a bad stay.
Review 48:Nothing
Review 49:The bed was really uncomfortable, could do with new mattress
Review 50:Really nice location be canal. Lovely room and fab bathroom. There was a fan and fridge which was brilliant
Review 51:Its not really a dislike but if they have an event on the loud music might bother some people. This is a lively venue and therefore if you looking for a quiet night sleep this might not be for you however it didnt bother us.
Review 52:Very nice location and tefreshing change from normal boring hotel rooms.
Review 53:This was my 2nd stay. After a long flight the Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Location is very nice, but do bear in mind that there is Beer Garden outside your Cottage. Having said that I had no problems with noise even though the Garden was busy. I did not venture out as there was no reason for me to. The Restaurant has a very good Menu or there is Bar Food if you prefer. I have already booked for my trip back.
Review 54:Really bad bed with springs sticking through. Wife had to sleep on the floor. No air conditioning. Rubbish breakfast.
Review 55:Nice location, not too far from Heathrow. Refurbished rooms. Cheap.
Review 56:Wish it was closer to airport. Breakfast is disappointing.
Review 57:The staff was fabulous very kind and accommodating. Cute cottages, modern bathrooms. Restaurant was great.
Review 58:Great place to stay, very welcoming staff, brilliant food in both quality and price. The breakfast was just perfect as well. Great place to stay for Heathrow, we got to our terminal 5 car park in 30 mins, would have been at terminals 1 to 3 in 20!
Review 59:Breakfast very basic, delivered to the room the night before, and DIY after that. No hairdryer
Review 60:Clean, quiet, interesting location for a walk along the canal
Review 61:wet floor in ensuite very slippery, with no mats. Breakfast poor, bread roll almost inedible.
Review 62:great for an overnight stop collecting son from uni, good evening meal.
Review 63:Room is actually located in the middle of a beer garden next to a noisy pub. We were kept up both nights. Friday night we were kept up until 1:30am, Saturday night we didn't manage to get to sleep until 4 in the morning. The pub is very noisy and obviously acts as some kind of nightclub on the weekends. Very loud dance music being played long into the night and a DJ on a loud PA system. Room was decorated really nicely (as was the bathroom) shame about the noise. It should be advertised on the listing.
Review 64:Room was lovely and the staff were very nice.
Review 65:Was a bit cold, could use a blow heater. Unlucky that closed for an event while we were there but I imagine that was just unavoidable. Only suggestion I have, it was a bit of a hassle bringing our own crib. Not very expensive for you guys to have one available, highly recommend buzz down to Uxbridge and get one.
Review 66:Friendly, no hassle. Clean and pleasant.
Review 67:I didn't like the bedsheets they were stained, the breakfast was cereal! No hairdryer no glasses for water. Towels were old. Not worth the money I paid! Should have stuck with the bigger hotels!
Review 68:Bathroom
Review 69:Breakfast was disappointing, cobs quite dry and processed cheese. Also the bathroom inside the built in wardrobe was novel, and a bit embarrassing to use as it only had a slide door and no extractor fan - left nothing to the imagination !!!
Review 70:Located at the side of the canal was lovely as the canal boats floated past and the ducklings were beautiful. The food was fantastic and not what we expected from the look of the outside. The staff were very friendly and pleasant - especially the bar manager (chris I think).
Review 71:Our room had paper thin walls and was located below a function room with a party going on until one in the morning. the room was shaking, I complained to the manager who attempted to get the music from the disco turned down but she even admitted in the morning she had to go back up on around five occasions as they kept turning it up. This is unacceptable in my eyes and ruined our stay, we was promised some discount so I will wait to see what happens with this.
Review 72:Lady that run the place was nice and so was the food
Review 73:do-it-yourself breakfast from night before!!!!!-this is a BAD idea - please don't do it no tv or radio signal night or morning couldn't work out how to turn of all the lights!
Review 74:location,comfy bed, good bathroom, reasonable price, room warm on chilly night, friendly manager, we didn't eat as at family gathering but beer and pub grub looked good
Review 75:Would have been prefect if a cooked breakfast was available.
Review 76:Lovely little cottage style rooms, very private. Clean and well maintained. Really friendly and helpful staff. All in all lovely little place, great base for travelling around.
Review 77:I found this hotel when looking for a place next to London Heathrow. It was a hidden gem. This time we booked two nights and traveled to Legoland. I have two small children and they love watching the boats along the canal. It is the perfect close to London hotel without being in London.
Review 78:Chris and Natalie made us feel very welcome. We stayed in the red room, it was comfy and clean. Warm friendly atmosphere in the bar and great food at a good price.
Review 79:Cleanliness. Not cleaned, dishes and cups dusty shower hose and head coming apart ,shower tray leaking onto floor , basin big crack in it. Hot basin tap very very hard to turn on and off. Lots of small insects crawling around
Review 80:Wifi. bed.
Review 81:Disappointed with the continental breakfast in bedroom, would have been nice to have a choice of a full English breakfast even if it meant paying more.
Review 82:Very pretty location, rooms to high standard, staff very friendly. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 83:Very friendly host who couldnt do enough for me. Great view of canal and some lovely walks for the dogs who were also welcomed. Very convenient for Heathrow
Review 84:food at the restaurant was not great - eat somewhere else like the Old Orchard for example)
Review 85:location- really picturesque , staff, accommodation was good- no cooked breakfast but you can get one on FRi, Sat at the Toll house just 7 minutes away ...take a short stroll along the canal
Review 86:Very small TV in the room, hardly see anything. Continental breakfast was very basic and left in the room fridge. Restaurant not open in the morning for breakfast which is a shame..
Review 87:Friendly staff and a pleasant location away from the main roads. Room was clean and spacious, the bar and restaurant was idea for an evening meal, nothing special but a good choice of food and drink.
Review 88:nothing
Review 89:All staff very helpful & friendly. Good food in restaurant & generous continental breakfast. Full-size fridge very useful as we had baby food/milk.
Review 90:A very basic breakfast was waiting for us in the room when we arrived @ 18.40!! Poor lighting for shaving in bathroom.
Review 91:Great night's sleep in a comfy bed with great pillows.Good sized bathroom.Extra heater was provided as room was chilly when we arrived.
Review 92:Breakfast was extremely poor; Reception girl made mistake with the invoices; Too cold in the room due to moisture; The photos of the hotel have nothing to do with reality; Very old building
Review 93:The only bad thing was the WiFi. Very intermittent and sometimes none existent.
Review 94:Loved the room, shower and pub. Everyone welcomes with open arms. A great experience all around!
Review 95:I would be lying I said anything I had a great stay
Review 96:Our room was very comfy clean great friendly staff great location the food was very good this place would be great to visit in the summer highly recommended great location for a good morning jog
Review 97:The restaurants opening hours, no option for a full cooked breakfast but the inclusive breakfast was adequate and as advertised. Could not get connected to the wifi with the password, that might have been me I have been having problems in that area elsewhere.
Review 98:The location to the venue was ideal (Q Vardis) I would imagine in summer months this would be great place to stay right on the canal bank.
Review 99:A big no no for us was that the bar, which can be heard from the restaurant, was clear used by some as a local and our family heard a lot of swearing and rowdy noise. NOT, what a family wants!
Review 100:Staff, price, location and ease of parking.
Review 101:Nothing to fault.
Review 102:The lady when checking in was lovely. Helpful and friendly. Room was spacious and nicely put. Had a fridge in the room which is always a bonus. Lovely shower. The food is lovely. Well what I had anyway. Staff are all great. Can not fault anything or anyone whilst staying there. Even the local's...Brilliant!
Review 103:Breakfast was very basis and it was a bit of offputting that the rolls were given the day before they were needed. Also the shower plug was blocked which led to the tray flooding very quickly when used.
Review 104:The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room simple but comfortable. It was very convenient to where we needed to be and we appreciated the free parking. All in all a good night away for a decent price.
Review 105:The Blue room was a bit musty smelling, and unfortunately the carpet felt damp in a few places. I thought the breakfast offering of cereal, tea, and ham and cheese with bread was nice, but our milk was not fresh, so we bought new milk from the nearby Tesco. They were very busy with Christmas festivities, so I did not bring it to anyone's attention, but I would have mentioned it if we were to stay longer.
Review 106:Very Cute and unusual, with nice walking around the canal and nearby marina. Grocery nearby. Bar and Restaurant on premises, but we only visited the bar. Rooms quite nicely appointed, bed was comfortable in the Blue room, but the "double" in the Family room was quite small. A Charming stay! I would do it again.
Review 107:*No cooked breakfast :(
Review 108:*No charge for dog to stay *Dog allowed in restaurant *Close proximity to canal *Close to Brunel Uni *Staff were very friendly and accommodating *Huge comfortable bed
Review 109:Poor quality breakfast.
Review 110:Suited us for location. Good insulated room. There was a lot of noise when we arrived Saturday night was expecting sleepless night but once the door was shut couldn't hear much at all. Very clean and nicely decorated. Good tea and coffee facilities. Staff friendly who rung us when we forgot an item.
Review 111:As a lone female traveller, I felt a little uncomfortable in an annex around the side of the pub and with no additional locking mechanism on the inside. The room was cold, there was no bath mat, no toiletries and no hairdryer, all of which are standard these days. When I checked out at 9am, the pub was all locked up and there was no letterbox anywhere so I had to leave the key on the windowsill outside the room. For £95 I expected more.
Review 112:The canalside location I can imagine would be lovely in the summer. The staff in the pub were really friendly and the food in the restaurant was very good.
Review 113:such a good time that the time flew to fast.
Review 114:We were there for a wedding which was being held at the venue. Staff were excellent throughout the day and evening. Had an absolutely brilliant day. Many thanks Natalie, Chris and all the staff
Review 115:There is nothing not to like we will be returning there
Review 116:We love this hotel it's clean cosy and very friendly. It's 7 miles from the London and it's a perfect place to chill out after a busy shopping day.
Review 117:Needs saftey lighting by the car park and night. I tripped over an unlit kerb.
Review 118:Excellent food. A well thought out menu and very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 119:Were not given a key Decoration and accessories minimal Not welcoming Over priced for what is on offer Breakfast was a stale roll with cheese plus a cereal Small cups but no glasses
Review 120:Location Fridge with plenty of milk
Review 121:We booked our stay at The WatersEdge as our son was 18 and wanted to see his aunty's to celebrate, all the staff were extremely helpful and nice. We had a brilliant meal for 29 of us and a great disco afterwards (free for party's over 20!). A big thankyou to you all you really made it a special evening.
Review 122:Needs an extractor fan in the bathroom area - otherwise all was good
Review 123:It was a perfect location for QVardis where we attended a wedding that day. Staff were great and it was a difference experience staying right alongside the canal. I would stay again as it was a refreshing change from a standard traditional hotel format
Review 124:Room had areas of décor that required more attention to detail (Electrical box on show above wardrobe) and only some of the LED lights behind the bed working. Water was cold for the shower
Review 125:No heating No hairdryer No iron available in room No option to add things to the room Wi Fi wouldn't work
Review 126:good location for a summer drink or stay - not a winter business overnight stay Helpful friendly staff Good camembert
Review 127:Terrible excuse for a breakfast...rolled up cheese and wet fatty cheap ham in a lunch box in the fridge, two stale bread rolls and portion of weetabix all in the room. Bed OK but not very good mattress .
Review 128:Location. Helpful barman who booked taxi for us and have us good local information
Review 129:Just that pillows could be firmer and proper blackout blind on skylight as got light early
Review 130:Room felt like 2 rooms- plenty of space and privacy with kids- tvs in each part. Friendly and helpful staff-lovely location Breakfast fine for us- took rolls to LEGOLAND where we were going on day trip Good value for 4 people
Review 131:Advertised as a 4 star but we wouldn't give it a four stars. There was no way we could have stopped there with our 2 small children as we didn't feel safe leaving them sleeping next to a beer garden so we left. Breakfast was a bread roll and some ham left in a tuperware tub in the fridge in the room! Wouldn't recommend.
Review 132:The bedsheets had stains on them and the mattress has seen better days. The food in the frig was served on metal plates that were not very clean. There was no bottled water in the room for use. The tap water was suspect and I got sick from it.
Review 133:The bathroom was brand new and very clean. Good water flow from the showers. Location was pleasant being right on the canal.
The Fine Print
