Reviews for Hyatt Hotel Canberra - A Park Hyatt Hotel
Review 1:The air condoning was too hot and not comfortable throughout the night also they was no biscuits to have with a cup of tea which i don't think would cost much especially with the cost of the rooms. Also the cost of the breakfast was over the top so we didn't have it. Of it had been more reasonable we would of had the breakfast. The staff were great though and very helpful
Review 2:The size of the room
Review 3:For this class of hotel it was disappointing that I had to chase staff for bills and service
Review 4:Room was very well appointed and clean. Position was perfect we walked to most points of interest
Review 5:Parking is metered and fortunately it was a weekend so i didnt end up with a large fine. Watch out on week days! staff didnt enquire re if i had a car.
Review 6:Everything from check in to check out. Nothing was a problem for staff. Late checkout. Coffee on the balcony after breakfast. Extra paper.
Review 7:The helpfulness of the staff plus the room and its amenities were definitely value for money. Try it for yourself - you'll certainly want to return.
Review 8:All of it - we had taken some friends with us who don't travel at all, accommodation was excellent and the buffet on Saturday night was outstanding. A wonderful experience for ours friends.
Review 9:Previous stays had the buffet breakfast - Fantastic. This time had breakfast in upstairs room. Truely dreadful. Had to ask if there was any hot food as none had been laid out. When it did arrive, it was only sausages and eggs which were stone cold.
Review 10:Pleasant staff, beautiful hotel, nice room.
Review 11:One of our group complained of high pitched noises in their room, which kept him awake. But he is notoriously sensitive to noise.
Review 12:This is a lovely hotel. I stayed with three of my adult children and their respective partners, so we occupied 4 separate rooms. The hotel gave us rooms close together, which was convenient. The breakfast was wonderful, if a bit pricey! It was a great experience, and I plan to visit again with my husband, who was unfortunately unable to come for this trip. We loved the proximity to most of the attractions, all within walking distance.
Review 13:Having to pay extra for parking beggars belief at such a high standard hotel, especially given the type of cars that frequent there. Our room had paint falling off the ceiling in the bathroom, not a big thing by any means, but it's certainly not something you expect to see at the Hyatt, keeping in mind it is an old building that exudes elegant old world charm.
Review 14:The service was an exemplar of living up to customer expectations. The staff were friendly, well spoken and genuine, an absolute pleasure to deal with. The food was of a superb standard at all times. Would certainly stay there again.
Review 15:At the arrival, as I was told there was not any booking done. I already explained that in my email. I am waiting for answer.
Review 16:I know the hotel because I stay there every time I have visited Canberra. But the last visit it took my appetite to go back to Hyatt out completely.
Review 17:Hotel was situated right near Parliament House and Lake Burley Griffen so excellent for us when walking to sites. Staff were friendly and professional and nothing was too hard for them. The hotel was beautiful and very clean
Review 18:We are Paleo regarding our diet and the staff seemed not to understand what this meant. Our breakfast and dinner bills were not communicated to the front desk which delayed paying our final bill. The meals we did not feel were good value for what we paid, compared to elsewhere.
Review 19:We feel that we do not have to leave the hotel all the time as there is enough comfort and things for. Us to do at and around the hotel.
Review 20:The staff were non-existent and not helpful. When we had an issue with our booking they referred us to booking.com and would not discuss the matter with us directly.
Review 21:Location and ambience of hotel is very nice. We walked around the lake and visited the galleries which are located close by.
Review 22:Whilst booking, the 'with breakfast' option was unclear
Review 23:Quiet, dark room. Comfortable bed. Lovely deep bath Great breakfast. We could store our motorbike in secure location
Review 24:Food and drinks are over priced, the entrance was blocked by parked cars so no option but to park and drag luggage to the door, there were no attendants or assistance. Not acceptable in this type of hotel when paying top dollar.
Review 25:The gym, pool, sauna & spa was great and the attendant, very friendly and helpful.
Review 26:The ambience of class and elegance of a bygone era, yet with very up to date amenities. Staff service excellent. Wide verandahs, promenades instead of passageways, excellent restaurant, great lounge.
Review 27:My brief stay was a delight in every way. Regarding the room, I considered that in no other country would one find such an offering of fine amenities. Your staff provide wonderful service.
Review 28:Had to go out of the hotel to access the pool, when it was freezing outsides Food seemed really overpriced
Review 29:Room was lovely and warm, bed very comfortable Beautiful foyer and art deco architecture throughout, even though the bathrooms were a bit over the top
Review 30:Had booked a club king balcony room Which had a permit residence a possum in the ceiling which kept us awake all night Reported the problem to front desk no reaction from them Wouldn't stay in a room which had trees near roof again
Review 31:No free parking
Review 32:The bed, pillows and bathroom are all amazing. the food choices are excellent and varied, and the cocktails at the bar are fabulous.... Dont miss out on High Tea..
Review 33:room was located too far from entry doors with multiple stairs to contend with. Building was poorly signed and was easy to get lost. Facility had no free parking.
Review 34:ambience
Review 35:Hotel had a conference centre feel. Room was very tired looking - headboard worn and carpet needed replacing. Expected something much nicer for our money!
Review 36:good location
Review 37:Very disappointing the location of room as mature guests we had trouble finding our room late at night Our room rate was high and felt like we were in a dungeon.
Review 38:The staff in the main areas
Review 39:Rooms a tad tied but still very good
Review 40:Location is superb for walking to attractions. The hotel 1920's feel is just fantastic with open fires and high teas, a great choice for a winter afternoon
Review 41:Nothing. Faultless service from arrival to checkout.
Review 42:Helpful, friendly staff. Beautiful buffet breakfast, including great coffee. Airconditioning just right throughout the hotel. Some cold climate hotels are stifling.
Review 43:Not so much a bad experience however, given the cost of the food at the al a carte restaurant, I would have liked to have had a separate appropriately appointed dining room to give the evening some atmosphere . Like the dining room at the Hydro Majestic.
Review 44:The ambiance and location of the of the hotel was very good. Room was well appointed and quite spacious.
Review 45:As above. Club room ($100 extra) with dirty crockery left on tables in the afternoon. Distinct lack of staff. At 'continental' breakfast the two staff couldn't keep up with demand.
Review 46:Lage, well equipped room; good view, excellent ensuite bathroom.
Review 47:It was our anniversary the dinner was very ordinary.I ordered a beer that never turned up so we told the office that we were disappointed with the experience. The paper we were supposed to get in the morning never turned also. Very disappointed would not stay there again
Review 48:Location was very good
Review 49:Rude incompetent front office and lounge area staff. Restaurant closed twenty minutes before advertised time because if "no customers". Just shocking value for money. I will not return for sure!
Review 50:Nothing really. The bed!
Review 51:While at a wedding, my daughter dislocated her knee. When we arrived back at the Hyatt, the staff could not have been more helpful and genuinely concerned. Thank you!
Review 52:The cost of items in the mini bar were of the chart, more reasonable and I would have purchased.
Review 53:The hotel is very impressive, the staff are all great and the room was sensational.
Review 54:That it had to end! Team Hyatt exceeded all expectation. Thank you
Review 55:Attention to detail and care and service ensuring fabulous garden wedding and reception at the Hyatt. Sheday was exceptional ensuring a great and trouble free time for my daughter Joanne and S-I-L Scott and all family and friends but especially those that stayed at the Hyatt
Review 56:I thought that breakfast menu was overpriced and a little lame but we will still come back for another stay.
Review 57:More than one thing stands out about the Hyatt, the tranquil setting, the staff, the amenities and its location.
Review 58:Unfortunately the evening buffet leaves alto left to be desired if you are not interested in seafood. I have never been to a restaurant that where there is nothing for me to eat until this one!!!! The staff were second class to the breakfast team. in saying that the breakfast buffet was exceptional
Review 59:The staff are super friendly and helpful and the location is close to everything. The Executive Lounge with free continental breakfast, evening drinks and canapés was run by an exceptional highly professional team.
Review 60:The bed is not stable, moves a lot. You will need a car as it is kinda in the middle of nowhere.
Review 61:Nice hotel and at the same time it's not that expensive. Love the architecture.
Review 62:Walking into our room only to find another couple who had checked in at the same time had already settled in as they had been checked into room 301 as had we. Could have been extremely embarrassing. Needless to say, we had to go back to reception to be checked into another room on the floor below.
Review 63:It was conveniently located to the Lobby which is where we were attending a wedding and staff were generally very helpful and friendly
Review 64:I have stayed many times before & was disappointed that the free coffee for gold passport members was no longer available and the little shop shut. Also some furnishings may need a little freshen up.
Review 65:I liked the quite serene atmosphere & surroundings, the discretion of the staff & the fast room service. Overall it was delightful. I also love the way the history is preserved, it's quite lovely.
Review 66:buffet average but surprisingly busy.
Review 67:Great location, Beautiful garden, easy parking. One of the best concierge services I have ever experience. Just right and just nice!
Review 68:Very helpful and attentive staff. I have never had such good customer service. The bathrooms were spectacular and the heritage wing was very elegant and restful
Review 69:The bed is not stable, the mattress moves a lot. The hotel is about 6km from the center, there is no shops or restaurants nearby.
Review 70:Love the architecture. Wifi is good. Spacious bathroom.
Review 71:Location was very central but too far to non hotel restaurants to walk.
Review 72:Quality of room in which we stayed was excellent with balcony over looking park land making it perfect for us. Drinks and canopes included in room charge made the extra cost worth while.
Review 73:Parking is a problem. Parking is not covered. If you the hotel car park is full you need to park in council car parking. I was advised that I may need to get up early to pay for parking if I could not find a free spot. There are some free spots behind the hotel.
Review 74:The breakfast was sensational.
Review 75:Although we asked for a quiet location, our room was directly above the cafe and it was noisy
Review 76:The staff were lovely, wonderful old refurbished building with a beautiful ambience.
Review 77:I stayed with my grandson...it would have been useful to have been able to separate the bed into two beds...not a big deal though. Real milk rather than long life in the fridge would have been a nice touch.
Review 78:Large, quiet room, great sized bathroom with spa bath, coffee machine in room, great menu choices available in dining room with an excellent buffet for breakfast all within walking distance of buildings in the Parliamentary triangle. And it's set in a lovely garden atmosphere with great outdoor areas.
Review 79:The phone response service was the worst I have experienced in any hotel ever. I had reason to ring the front desk but there was no answer after 12 minutes. Ultimately got through by ringing from outside. This happened on three occasions such that I thereafter did not ting as never answered and walked to front desk The phone answering service was the worst I have ever experienced any where in the world. Otherwise a great hotel
Review 80:Air conditioner outlet directly over the bedhead caused an unpleasant cold draught on heads - should have moved the bed, but shouldn't have needed to. Lack of a more intimate restaurant.
Review 81:Lovely hotel, excellent staff, good room, pleasant restaurant.
Review 82:Nothing...
Review 83:Beautiful old building, fantastic views from room, renovated to an extremely high standard, staff went out of there way to help my husband & myself,
Review 84:Nobody should have to pay for WiFi these days . In 2015 it, to me , is as necessary as a bed ! ( And I will be 70 in November. )
Review 85:The ambience . Lovely feel for Christmas , with all the decorations. Particularly loved the fact that you had a pianist playing in the lobby setting. Special.
Review 86:No lobby shop or ATM at all in the hotel which is a pain when I forgot a couple of things - the nearest shop is miles away! I just think even a small lobby shop would be very helpful.
Review 87:Room, location and scale of hotel - still one of the best in Canberra - right next to the lake and away from everyone else
Review 88:I didn't like the fact that guests wore thongs to the meals - it seemed so disrespectful to the hotel and staff.
Review 89:The staff seem genuinely helpful and relaxed but efficient. They just have a certain way of making you feel welcome whatever your background.
Review 90:service and attitude of workers in buffet restaurant, especially at entrance and egg cooking section were made guests so unhappy. nobody expects at Park Hyatt that no bellboy once getting off.
Review 91:We sat for fifteen minutes after being given a menu, before we ordered (after reminding the staff member) and another fifteen minutes before we were served. The empty glasses from the previous people at the table, still sat there after we were served.
Review 92:It was a very relaxing setting. The staff, including the porter, were very polite and attentive at the check in. The staff at dinner in the buffet were very attentive also.
Review 93:Restaurant food was ordinary for the price.
Review 94:Complimentary champagne on arrival to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Also provided undercover parking for our motorbikes complimentary for our special occasion. Thanks to excellent staff.
Review 95:Front desk service very ordinary! Not overly courteous and they forgot bedding for our son which was booked. Wouldn't go back, nothing like Hyatt Melb.
Review 96:Bathroom
Review 97:Card entered the door kept on breaking down. Booked king room, too small for 4 people, had to upgrade to suit Staff knowlegde is limited: staff at front desk did not explain what our including or excluding
Review 98:Location of the hotel
Review 99:the food prices were a bit too expensive; walking around outside, there seemed a lot of paths that led nowhere; the front entrance has no ramp but stairs only; the fitness area closed too early, especially as it's a separate building and wouldn't disturb other guests; no air conditioning in the bar
Review 100:the corridors were wide enough to pass people; the staff were extremely friendly and attentive; the hotel was close to the lake; the hotel hired out push bikes; food was delicious; i received firmer pillows upon request; buffet afternoon tea is the bomb
Review 101:The hotel is a bit isolated from any shops or eating places but taxis were all on hand.
Review 102:The staff were so attentive and friendly and the bathroom was fantastic. The rooms were large and ours looked onto a rose garden. It was quiet as well so had a great sleep
Review 103:the limited range of food in the Ambassador Room for breakfast. For a daily charge of $445.00 for our room we would have expected a wider range of food at the Ambassador.
Review 104:the room, the bed, the bathroom, the readiness of most of the staff to be helpful
Review 105:Everything was excellent , but the restaurant experience is exceptional; specifically Max from the restaurant is an outstanding customer services and public relations and makes we feel well and welcome.
Review 106:Not really the Hyatt's responsibility, but the lack of access and information on local retailers (wine merchants, cafes, bars and general retail outlets) was a prolem. Also the Embassadors area really does lack as a breakast meeting location in not providing cooked options.
Review 107:Convenience of the location and the proximity to government area.
Review 108:Fresh air. Doors to outside could be opened to enjoy fresh air. - Gardens lovely and casual meals could be enjoyed on the verandahs. - Nice to be able to sit outside on the lawn areas to enjoy a quiet drink or pot of tea.
Review 109:Our room was at the furthest room in the hotel and down a floor and there was no porter to take our bags to the room. Bar staff do not no how to make cocktails.
Review 110:Buffets for breakfast and dinner was great. Dinner buffet time could have been a little longer as the information in the room said until 1030pm. But it was closed at 940pm so they could pack up strange when the dining room was still busy
Review 111:We loved everything !
Review 112:We loved the sense of space and unhurried relaxation of another era..... drinking tea in the quiet garden courtyards, taking a bath in the beautiful marble bathroom, people watching in the grand foyer......
Review 113:Very good. Close to the city and great location icon's near by. A bit on the high price side. But then again your paying for the name "Hyatt". The food is very good tasteful but honestly can easily go to another fine dine place near by to save a few dollars for the same food. The rooms are divine with plenty of room and also great costumer service. Car parking is another $25 dollars per night (as told by front desk checking in). So over all 7/10 only cause of professional staff.
Review 114:"parking under ground used to be free!
Review 115:I was a "regular until retiring ten years ago - and came back to find nothing has changed - thank goodness !
Review 116:Room was too hot at night and was unable to adjust it. A bit noisy at night with functions on in the great hall downstairs. Should have cheaper parking with rooms as a package deal, no forewarning of the cost of parking.
Review 117:The room was amazing, clean, large and airy. The bathroom was amazing with a great large bath to immerse in and relax. Staff very polite, professional and helpful.
Review 118:A bit far to walk from the city but plenty of taxis
Review 119:Swimming pool Canapes & drinks before dinner Bike hire from hotel Pleasant & helpful staff
Review 120:nothing
Review 121:Friendly, helpful staff, lots of smiles. The food was best value for money and absolutely delicious. Bathroom facilities out of this world, bathroom was as big as most bedrooms! Lovely atmosphere in the general areas of the hotel and lots of comfy chairs to sit in, would we stay again, most definitely!
Review 122:Whilst the additional bed had been set up in the room, the number of tea cups, tea bags and other complimentary refreshments, and towels had not been increased to reflect 3 guests as opposed to 2. This is a level of customer service that would make the stay at the hotel excellent, not just good.
Review 123:The Tea room had dreadful service - I needed to go to the counter for a menu and the staff were not that helpful.
Review 124:The manager of the breakfast area was lovely - a lady who was very helpful.
Review 125:The pillows are average. You need to have harder ones... The Buffet was crazily expensive. We opted for something on the menu.. Mains still too much, a bit rich too.
Review 126:I like the Hotel. The character and attention the staff gave us. The rooms are lovely, the food was fine.. A little expensive though. A lovely experience.
Review 127:Poor service in club lounge, staff abrupt, not checking to see if you have finished with your plate etc., just taking it away. On more than one occasion I had to stop them from taking my plate as I had not finished! Saturday evening, the Club Lounge was busy - I wanted to pour a glass of sparking wine, but the bottle was finished and had not been replaced. When I enquired as to where the replacement bottle was, the staff member told me that there wasn't anymore as they had run out. I remarked that this was totally unacceptable and would be making a complaint. A few minutes later the Club Lounge Manager told me that he told his staff to say this as the replacment bottle was not cold. I expressed my surprise and suggested that he might put the bottle in a bucket of ice? What sort of customer services is that??In the room there was a leaflet explaining that small hand weights could be provided for your use in your room. When I requested a set of hand weights I was told that this was not possible. When I queried this, the staff member said there wasn't a leaflet in the room which gave this option. I told them I was holding it in my and read it to them. Eventually, they provided them. This is not good customer service. The staff should be aware of the services offered to the guests! The television is set at an odd angle, to the side of the bed, so when in bed and wanting to watch TV is not comfortable as your head has to be turned to one side, leading to neck ache!In the bathroom the cold water tap leaked with the water pooling and spreading so that it dripped off the edge of the sink. I mentioned this to the staff but it was never fixed.Overall I don't think this worldwide group of hotels is delivering the standard of customer service expected. The standard in the Hyatt in Canberra is not acceptable. The Hyatt Group have no excuse as they have hotels all around the world and understand the level of service which should be delivered.
Review 128:Food good in Club Lounge. Reception staff good.
Review 129:our one experience in the restaurant was awful. We waited 90 minutes for the meal and when it arrived it tasted as if it had been sitting waiting somewhere for half an hour!
Review 130:room service was excellent
Review 131:Up to its usual standard so lovely to re-visit the Hyatt en route to thesnow for my 60th birthday. Perfect spot to celebrate. Special mention toMax r who took such wonderful care of us during dinner - amazing youngman and very attentive. Thank you to all staff of the Hyatt for afabulous stay in your elegant establishment.
Review 132:The dreaded credit card surcharge. I just don't get it - charge me $310 instead of $305 with no surcharge. If the staff read this, it costs you tips - charge a surcharge I refuse to tip. Take it up with your boss.
Review 133:Location and building superb and the hotel is looked after well. Staff attentive although spread a little thin at times. One of Canberra favourites over the years.
Review 134:Nothing.
Review 135:Want to feel special? Well this is the place. From the minute we pulled up to the Valet to our bags delivered to our room, the service was excellent and non stop. Great High Tea and fast Room Service. I'm definitely going back. Soon!
