Reviews for The Dragon Hotel

Review 1:Lifts were very small and cramped

Review 2:Room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Hotel is in a great location, very central, and there was on site parking included. Recommended for a city break

Review 3:Parking, advertise that parking on site is available, but very limited. I checked in at 5pm and had to park in side street which meant I had to move my car by 8am next morning. This meant no time to even see the facilities.

Review 4:Location

Review 5:I left my watch in the room. When I rang to ask they had done had anything returned from the room. Strange because I know it was there. Really furious because the watch was sentimental to me.

Review 6:Hotel

Review 7:felt that the rooms needed updating and the fixtures and fittings were worn. there seemed to be dust on the light fittings

Review 8:staff were very heplfull and professional

Review 9:Very small lifts - 3 persons max - and some aspects of the breakfast were not great.

Review 10:Great location, on site parking, friendly staff and comfortable rooms.

Review 11:Room and furniture were very tired, marked walls, ceilings, carpet and mould on the windows made it feel more dated and less clean.

Review 12:Great location and a comfortable bed. Most of the staff were polite and friendly.

Review 13:We stayed 2 nights and our room wasn't serviced .so a bit of a shortage on milk & coffee .Nice bed though so we didn't mind DIY .

Review 14:It was a lovely hotel ,really nice breakfast and good atmosphere in the evening .very friendly staff .Great location .

Review 15:Poor service at the piano restaurant and we failed to have a decent meal. Would not recommend eating there again.

Review 16:The room was spacious and quiet. Polite staff on arrival at reception area.

Review 17:Asked for a quiet room and was put in one overlooking the main road although was just about ok. Rooms a bit tired. Ordered a very expensive cooked breakfast which was freezing cold. There is not free parking at the hotel - there is LIMITED free parking - I was lucky enough to get the last space on the day I visited. Forgot to get a VAT receipt and called later that day - was told they would email it. Still waiting.

Review 18:Quick check in. When I complained about my room service breakfast, she immediately took it off the bill. Comfy bed.

Review 19:The air conditioning in the room was noisy. The hotel is in a central location so quite noisy on a Saturday night. The hotel needs a bigger car park

Review 20:The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 21:Unfortunately the swimming facilities wern't available. The TV in the room was dry small and the picture was horrendous. The bathroom is also small, the whole room just felt really small. Staff were lovely. There was a gap under the door. So we had light glaring in all night. Wouldn't rush back in a hurry.

Review 22:Location was perfect. I guess that's what you pay for.

Review 23:Room service took nearly an hour to answer phone, then to be told to call back in 10 minutes time as they were busy. Called back and still no answer. Called reception in the end and finally got a few drinks.

Review 24:Homely rooms, clean, great location in Swansea.

Review 25:I didn't like that we had 2 single beds pushed together. Would have preferred a proper double.

Review 26:The room was excellent, facilities were very good and staff were friendly.

Review 27:No parking they had a wedding booked the same night so there was no parking available

Review 28:Staff very helpful, you could open the window, breakfast had a nice selection

Review 29:facilities were very basic and the hotel was a bit tired looking... It really needed a bit of modernization.

Review 30:Nice comfortable bed, central location to Swansea city Centre, secure parking and a great breakfast.

Review 31:no bottled water in room. a lot of hotels provide water in room to drink . not everyone likes hot drinks

Review 32:comfort .clean. lovli food and staff very very friendly and helpful

Review 33:Limited parking which luckily did not affect us during our stay. Wi-fi signal was quite weak.

Review 34:Fantastic location. Could not ask for better. Excellent facilities and staff were very friendly and helpful. Great sized rooms and very clean. Extremely pleased and would definitely stay again.

Review 35:The superior double was a very small room but adaquate. The bed also moved away from the wall by 2 foot whilst undergoing activities ;)

Review 36:Every single member of staff was helpful and friendly, it was an enjoyable stay.

Review 37:Two nights running I was kept awake till 2am by other residents banging on doors and talking very loudly in local accents along the corridor. The phone in my room did not work. Served a stale tea cake.

Review 38:Friendly but not intrusive service especially breakfast, loved bedroom temperature with air con. Very quiet corridors, despite big party downstairs we went to bed early and were not disturbed,

Review 39:Temperature in the changing rooms needs to be raised so when you come out of the pool you don't walk into a cold location especially for children. Strange smell in the room which could of been addressed by the cleaners. Carpet was dirty also. Revamp of the exterior of the building needed as you approach the hotel. Need to change the locks in the changing room to not requiring £1 coins, with a hotel of this caliber it's upsetting to see this problem in a secure location.

Review 40:Heather on the main desk was very, very helpful and made the stay very comfortable and nice. Food is very nice, staff throughout the hotel was very helpful and kind. Lifts are very good quiet and well presented.

Review 41:Though the room was clean, carpet had stains and room was noisy with traffic from road outside and restaurant vent. I stayed only one night so I did not ask to change room. Mattress was a bit too soft for me.

Review 42:Very central can be reached walking from railway station. Friendly staff. Swimming pool and sauna.

Review 43:Booked a twin room, 3 weeks before my arrival date, ended up with a family room which wouldn't have been a problem if the fold up bed was comfy. It was like sleeping on the floor. Also I booked 2 twin rooms at first for 75 each, then cancelled 1 room and got charged 95 for my room when it said 75 when I booked it

Review 44:The woman at the reception

Review 45:Lack of staff in restaurant and bar (upstairs) ended up in Brasserie which was basic and not very comfortable - menu for here was basic as well so went out. En suite door had broken handle

Review 46:Staff friendly and helpful

Review 47:There were a gang of people in the room above us which were loud all night through until the morning. We wanted some food at around 11.30 pm and were told we coudnt but i was informed beforehand that room service was 24 hours aswell as the food.

Review 48:Nothing to not like

Review 49:Loved the hotel all together. Gym and the pool were fab. We have stayed 4 times now and will return soon. Its very central to the shops and places to eat.

Review 50:Air conditioning made it too cold everywhere. Uncomfortable bed. Headboard dirty, window frames dirty and sink plug hole smelly. No gluten free or soya milk at breakfast.

Review 51:Friendliness of staff.

Review 52:We had a twin room the beds were very small and made it difficult to sleep plus you could hear the noise from the hallway!

Review 53:The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help.

Review 54:They forgot to put the extra bed in, which was ok, it was sorted but the receptionist said about 8 times, "like I said the Housekeeper will get the bed for you at 6pm when she's on duty" I think we got it the first time, but goodness she just kept saying it, even my daughter commented to me after "for God's sake" how many times did she have to repeat that!!

Review 55:The relaxation. The staff were all friendly

Review 56:Some bar and restaurant (breakfast) staff less than helpful. Dining room not properly cleared at breakfast between guests. Maintenance generally poor - no way of keeping water in basins in Gents. Loo flush not working in bedroom. Thanked for reporting but no apology.

Review 57:Location. Restaurant for dinner. Have been coming for years

Review 58:No fridge No safe in the room

Review 59:Comfortable beds central location Quiet Good breakfast Able to provide good information on local events Staff very eager to please.

Review 60:Parking! Very tight, other costumers did not allow for other cars/ disabled parking. Your great evening staff had to agree with this when shown. Husband can only walk short distances, wheel chair on other occasions which means that other car parks are too far away for transport of luggage and pushing someone in a wheel chair.

Review 61:We want to extend a great vote of Thanks to the evening staff (ladies) on our arrival. They were friendly, professional and exceptionally understanding to our needs throughout their shift. We also enjoyed our Breakfast each morning with the added bonus of the cheerful, helpful Harry! (I hope we got his name right.)Always willing to listen and answer the questions we asked about the breakfast or Swansea its self. Attentive to our needs he took care to watch out for other client's wishes, then his fellow colleagues and his personal duties. I hope he remains with you enabling him to develop his skills and care for future clients. Thank you Harry Finally Thanks go to all the staff who made our visit a pleasure.

Review 62:Checking in,gave name, reception looked at computer, room not allocated to us! It was 2pm,we had booked months ago,was disappointed, and receptionist was not very helpful, then was given £400 ,billing,we had booked the room for£300! Asked why?because we might spend more, and they would refund, and we couldn't have our room unless we agreed, always paid for extras at end of stay,in other hotels, this was a first, and it felt like we weren't trusted! Not happy, spoke to booking.com,and complained.gave a very bad impression the Dragon hotel.will not stay again!

Review 63:Gym and swim facilities, convenience to shopping, seafront ect

Review 64:The receptionist was quite rude re a mistake being made on the booking of 3rooms instead of 2that was needed .On booking a mistake was made by booking.com n I rang dragon hotel to make sure 3rd booking was cancelled .Therefore it was not my fault but i was made to feel as though it was my fault ! The staff member at breakfast did nt even say good morning just went straight on phone as he did nt have a breakfast booking for us ! But all was ok eventually

Review 65:As above everything good

Review 66:Hotel was hard to reach - one way system and there was no direction as to where the car park was. Hotel car park was small for the size of the hotel (advertised as free car parking). The member of staff simply said I could could in the 'police only bay' until 8 in the morning or use the multi story (I would not have chosen this hotel if I'd known how poor the parking facility was). The bed duvet had stains on (photographs taken as proof). The bathroom door handle came off. The shower head was broken (which I then had to fix before taking a shower). The bathroom had mould stains in various areas.

Review 67:Main hotel building was clean and looked very nice. Staff at breakfast and the breakfast it's self was good.

Review 68:Very limited parking - needed to park in nearby NCP Drinks prices at bar very high for Swansea

Review 69:Good location and very friendly check in. Good breakfast.

Review 70:Nice rooms restaurant great food the staff was friendly and helpful we both enjoyed our stay very much we will both use the hotel again in the future William Lewis.

Review 71:The bathroom could have been cleaner, the door was dirty with hand print and muck. The milk in the sachets provided in the room was past its use by date

Review 72:The staff were BRILLIANT and really shone. The breakfast was the best I've ever had!

Review 73:I new the hotel from years ago. The Kingsway having been one way, makes it very difficult to access the hotel car park. For new visitors it is a nightmare.

Review 74:Our two night stay was fine. Staff were friendly and helpful. On site parking was appreciated.

Review 75:My only issue - the bar which stank of greasy food - quite revolting and wouldn't drink in there. Took our drinks into the reception area. Shame because all else very good value and high scoring.

Review 76:Ace Staff - smiles, humorous and very helpful. Great room though poor view but hey - not there for the view.

Review 77:When booking, be aware that hotel parking is on a first come first served basis. The number of spaces available is far less than the total number of rooms. That's fair enough, but a trip round the block on the ludicrous one way system is the price you pay for checking in late! Oh! plus the multi storey overnight parking charge, of course! In no sense would I have described my room as a Superior Double. Clean and comfortable yes, but much less roomy than a Travelodge! Make sure you bring your own full size ironing board with you! I defy anyone to iron anything on the mini version in your room, (see photo), which can only be used on the floor, and don't bother ringing Housekeeping,to ask for a larger one, as they don't answer the phone, and the room cleaner when asked to see if one was available will just disappear down the corridor, never to be seen again! Cheers for that!

Review 78:Breakfast was fine. Nice location on the 1st Floor, staff were very friendly and efficient.

Review 79:Decor tired and bathroom dirty. Did not fold up towells and left used glasses in room. Lack of atmosphere in restaurant. Needs a revamp

Review 80:Staff friendly

Review 81:The price of the room should have included breakfast. Also £10 seems a little pricey for breakfast; despite the good variety of foods on offer we could never have eaten ten pounds worth. The air conditioning fan (or whatever it was) two floors below our window was very noisy and woke us too early in the morning.

Review 82:The staff were very friendly and down to Earth. The room was well equipt, although a bit tired in places. The location is great and the hotel is very clean and has good facilities

Review 83:Sauna was not mixed, and in changing rooms, so had to go in alone, would have liked to have used with my husband.

Review 84:Close to town, and 10 minute walk to beach.

Review 85:We stayed Saturday through to Monday, Saturday evening was unbelievably loud, there was obviously a wedding or big party booked in. We were on the 6th floor (of 7) and could hear everything the entertainment was saying over the microphone. So no sleep for us until early hours when it finally stopped.we were also disappointed to see the amount of empty beer bottles and dirty glasses that people had left around the hotel, on the big table in reception, and left in hallways. Obviously this isn't the staff's fault but with 2 people on reception directly infront of where dirty bottles and glasses had been dumped I'd have thought they'd be eager to remove them, bottles were still in corridors and dumped by lifts the next day. In the morning when room was made up we weren't given clean glasses or cups, just seemed like they were only interested in making the bed. Our towel when we first arrived was dirty so that was very disappointing. When paying I was told it was £54 more expensive than the amount I had booked it for so had to then prove what I had booked it for.

Review 86:Staff were polite, good location

Review 87:Not happy with the room this time..superior double with no bath struggled with the shower as broken couldnt adjust..awake most of nite as ducting vent humming away all nite outside closed window...

Review 88:Liked the location of the hotel and generally a very good hotel..

Review 89:The staff on reception varied in friendliness although everyone else on the staff were lovely.

Review 90:Excellent location for everything we needed in Swansea. Lovely Spa.

Review 91:The wifi was very slow- almost unusable on occasions.

Review 92:The location was very good, right in the heart of Swansea, and the staff were very helpful. The leisure facilities were good, with a clean and pleasant swimming pool, and a well-equipped gym.

Review 93:Wi-Fi wasn't working for a few hours Previous occupant had clearly been smoking in the room. The window was open when I arrived but the smell of smoke was still noticable.

Review 94:Breakfast Free Car Park

Review 95:1.Lifts the size of phone boxes. 4 guests + suitcase and I had to step out before it would go.2.Toilet flush difficult to use(wife could not operate it at all). Bathroom fan not working(Steamy mirror no good for shaving). Cleaning staff must have known of these defects, but I had to report them. 3.Screaming wedding party guests in corridor at 02:30. Outside leaf blower at 07:15. Sunday morning. 4.So called Superior Double - seen bigger and better in Premier & Travelodge. Only ONE usable drawer. No bedside drawer, had to put glasses, hearing aids, mobile phone, wallet & money on "shelf" already filled with the house phone. Milk was in a thin wobbly plastic tube. Tiny TV with resulting illegible text. Very dim lighting. 5.Guests offered breakfast at £10, but it had to be booked the night before or price was £15. Either a guest breakfast is £10 or it isn't. 6.Did not use pool, spa etc but from my view this is not a 4 star hotel and it is not worth £119 for a Saturday night with no breakfast. 7.We will never stay there again.

Review 96:Very little

Review 97:Didn't like the beds , no tidy air conditioning too hot in rooms , shower was awful didn't work properly neither did the toilet flush poor standard

Review 98:Good location right in the middle of everything

Review 99:The bathroom was a little tired and needed a good thorough cleaning - pity as everything else was good.

Review 100:Emma the receptionist! She is an asset to the Dragon Hotel. She sorted a parking space, a mix-up in the booking and gave us a complimentary breakfast! Would recommend the hotel on her professionalism alone. Great!

Review 101:People smoking in the main doorway. Sat in the bar I felt like Id smoked 20 fags. Smell from it in the bar was awful.

Review 102:Good spot nice staff free parking

Review 103:They advertise with free parking, but that was a lie. The small parking was allways full, and then you had to go to a pay parking: 8 pounds for 1 night. Not my idea of a free parking. I choose the hotel for this so I felt fooled.

Review 104:Friendly, but not very efficient staff.

Review 105:No car park space when I arrived although staff gave me concession card to reduce payment to £8 which helped. Guinness in the bar was terrible. Warm and poured from a can! Overall a good stay. Just these two minor issues took a little shine off the event but still excellent place to stay.

Review 106:The staff were very friendly and attentive. They're good representatives to have for the dragon hotel.

Review 107:Room service breakfast didn't arrive and had to be chased. Not a problem other than needed to be out for an appointment early and therefore had to go without. The room was clean (except the carpet) but very basic. The bed was too soft (not my preference).

Review 108:The staff were lovely. Very welcoming and helpful. The common areas of the hotel were immaculate and attractive.

Review 109:Nothing not too like with our visit

Review 110:The staff were very friendly from reception right the way through. Towels were nice big and fluffy. Food was excellent. The location was good and the people living in the area was warm and friendly. Was our first visit but would definitely go back again

Review 111:Water pressure for the shower is too low, being on the 7th floor probably didn't help. No suitcase rack. Black mould on corner of window cill. No hot tap water through the early hours. Exterior door handle fell off and when I tried to report to front desk via telephone I got an answer machine - message left.. Right hand window had the safety catch removed so could open fully - not good for 7th floor. WIFI and internet access ok for first day but no internet for rest of stay.

Review 112:Location to city center for shops, museums and travel. Fantastic breakfast

Review 113:disgusted at the lipstick found on glasses at breakfast, double room booked for 2 came with tea/coffee, towels ect for one person and had 2 single beds pushed together very uncomfortable

Review 114:Location,facilities, helpful and kind staff at first visit

Review 115:The staff were lovely. They were all really helpful and friendly, particularly the waiter and waitress in the restaurant for dinner on Sunday evening and the Italian lady on the bar Saturday and Sunday evening. We were very impressed with the level of customer service we received throughout our stay. The buffet breakfast was good in the morning, and there was a spa - with a gym and a pool and a sauna for us to use which was really handy for the first day when it was raining! We couldn't get the wifi working in our room but it was on the 6th floor so this might be why, although we didn't actually need it at all during our stay so we didn't ask about it. The food in the restaurant for dinner was really lovely and very reasonably priced. We ate out the first night and spent a fortune and didn't really enjoy it, so we were very glad to have some really good food on the second night. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and if you don't stay here definitely go for dinner!

Review 116:The car parking lets the hotel down and the fact that I paid £16 over two nights. Booked a double room but had to ask for extra towels as only one provided bearing in mind my daughter was with me, also had to ask for a mug too.

Review 117:The room was very clean. The staff very friendly.

Review 118:During the night I was kept awake by a loud noise coming from the conditioning unit outside and a drill like noise from within the bathroom. Give room 317 a miss and this hotel is perfect. There was no facility for a drink beside the restaurant which has a nice setting than the bar on ground floor.

Review 119:Friendly accommodating staff. Clean hotel with a gorgeous swimming pool and sauna. Room was comfortable with big bathroom and good bath and shower. Centrally located.

Review 120:Swansea. Old tired and dirty The one way system trying to navigate to hotel

Review 121:I was lovely and clean and good value for the £75 we paid superior twin room booked last minute with my sister whilst travelling around wales

Review 122:Wi-Fi not working properly in the room. No safe or fridge in room. No small sofa in room. Shower had low pressure. Door handle broken and lock not working. Car park very small.

Review 123:Spoons were filthy on tea tray in room, both of them! The downstairs bar, the lounge bar should be open to residents later so females do not have to sit in the on street bar.

Review 124:Rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. Food is good.

Review 125:breakfast a tad expensive if booked in advance at as much as£ 17.95, cheaper to leave to check when reduces to £10.00. It is nice though

Review 126:great location

Review 127:Car parking Friday and Saturday night a bit of an issue. Very small double bed for 2 adults.

Review 128:Friendly staff, great pizza room service and great location for restaurants in the evening.

Review 129:Nothing

Review 130:The location, how accommodating and polite the staff were, breakfast was plentiful, and good value for money, have already booked again for xmas, dinner with santa.

Review 131:The staff were ok, but not nearly as welcoming as other hotels I have previously used. The rooms were quite small with minuscule window opening potential. There was no safe or fridge in the room. The sauna was in the changing room so could not share this with my son/husband. There was no process in the bar despite being on offer by the glass, the drinks were very expensive too...

Review 132:where the hotel was situated, other than that, not much

Review 133:Beds were uncomfortable. Walls must have been thin, as I could hear everything from the room next to us. Rooms could to with a revamp. No power shower

Review 134:Staff were very friendly and fantastic with kids. We had lunch at the Piano bar which was delicious. Good choice for breakfast too.

Review 135:We ate in the piano bar for dinner selecting the early bird menu offering a three course dinner for £20.00 per adult. We assumed this would offer good value but my daughters foods was not the best (sausage & mash with terrible onion gravy) and I sent my steak back as it was overdone and tough. The waiting staff were very helpful and ordered me another meal and when this arrived it was average, our desserts were ok and my wifes food was good. When the bill arrived I had not been charged for my wine which was a very nice gesture. After dinner we went to our room to settle our 5 year old daughter for bed and had to ring reception at around 10pm as other guests in our corridor were having a party outside, this noise started around 8.30 pm and by 10pm we need to complain.

Review 136:Hotel staff were excellent especially Emma on reception would took time to talk to my 5 year old daughter every time we passed through the entrance hall. Hotel is clean comfortable and value for money. Breakfast was also excellent value for money and the waiting staff very helpful and polite.

Review 137:From the moment you stepped in, an impression of a really good hotel.Reception staff made you feel welcome from the start.Restaraunt staff were brilliant.

Review 138:Couldn't use Gym in morning as doesn't open till 7/7:30. Room sold as "superior" room but was tiny - like central London . Lighting in room poor. Directions v poor especially to car park.

Review 139:good facilitities staff helpful

Review 140:I had requested parking when I booked the room, but the lot was full when we arrived. The room was fine, but the seagulls outside the windows were noisy all night long.

Review 141:The staff were friendly and the breakfast buffet was pretty good.

Review 142:They said that the TV would explain how to do the wifi but the TV wasn't working properly so at to go front desk to get password.

Review 143:It was a quiet hotel so in the night was able to sleep. Swimming was free which was a great bonus to wake up to have a lovely swim. Overall it was a lovely stay and great customer service :).
