Reviews for The Acacia Hotel & Spa
Review 1:The hotel is situated next door to a Hindu Temple and their services on 24 December started at 7.00am and went on for at least four hours with amplified singing and other religious music. The hotel layout made the acoustics of that service and children in the pool louder. I am not criticising the Hindu service but a bit of advice from the Hotel would have prepared the guests for what was coming.
Review 2:Friendly staff, excellent service, great rooms and a good location for this area.
Review 3:The staff is completely unorganised. Their systems don't work and the management is clueless. Went through a horrifying experience during check-out because they have no idea on how to manage online bookings! There is a screaming match every day in the hotel.
Review 4:Good location.
Review 5:Upon arrival on New Year's Eve we were informed our room was not available for both nights and we had to move to another hotel for one night and move back on New Year's Day. The only compensation we were offered was a shoulder massage and a meal which we found a bit insulting given this was meant to be a special occasion. Our room looked out on to a field of rubbish. Eventually they let us have the room and forced someone else to take their deal but it took over an hour of negotiation after a long journey. The actual hotel is very average and the rates are extortionate for the quality. Situated on the extremely loud and busy main strip.
Review 6:The general staff were very nice
Review 7:Only minor complaint was the hassle of being moved on our first night.
Review 8:The hotel located on the main road through Candolim, so easy walking distance to the beach, shops, bars, restaurants etc. The hotel was nice - new, modern and clean. The room was a good size and had the usual stuff like security deposit box, hairdryer, tv, mini bar etc. The hotel had a few restaurants, but we only ate there at breakfast. Breakfast was good - buffet, with a mix of Indian and continental food. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that there was a maintenance problem and our room was not ready. For the first night The hotel had arranged for us to stay at the Azzure Hotel, 3km away near Calangute. The hotel arranged a car to take us there and to bring us back the next morning. The Azzure Hotel was nice, but was out of the way and not within walking distance of bars etc. This was an inconvenience, but he hotel did not offer us anything to apologize - we would have been happy with a small offer, such as a small discount or a free taxi to take us into Candolim, but nothing was offered. However, this was only a minor inconvenience and I still give our stay a 5* review. Good points: Location Good rooms Good breakfast
Review 9:Staff is not responsible. Reminded almost more than 10 times for Tata Sky recharge, they didn't recharge. Finally we recharge it. And they dont have even courtesy to ask for the reimbursement of that money. If you are just going for location and than it matters but hospitality is not good at all.
Review 10:Welcome drink, its location, and izgara restaurants has very good views of candolim
Review 11:i think the room price is not value for money....similar properties with better facilities are priced lower. Also there is no parking space absolutely for your own vehicle.
Review 12:Its not a 4 star property, it is just a 2 star property. If you go with a mind set if it is 4 star property, definitely its not the right choice. Hotel is not that great Breakfast is terrible Hot Water facility is too bad
Review 13:It was very noisy Paid wifi but no net in the room for 4 nights The Bed sheets, cover & towels are all worn-out
Review 14:The staff where cooperative & frindly The food was delicious & clean Balcony in the room
Review 15:Everything was good about the hotel starting from the staff to the accommodation itself. The owner himself was extremely friendly and was there to help you out at all times giving a very comfortable feel to the customers. Food is also very good.
Review 16:Coordination...the breakfast could have been better and a little more variety wud have helped
Review 17:The location and the interiors were nicely done...the staff went on a long way to help us with our conveyance for the city
Review 18:Visited+stayed at the Acacia hotel from 23rd till 25th Sept, 2015 Following is our experience:1> Called an hour before checkin to confirm our room which was prebooked + confirmed via Booking.com & had to dial 3-4 times as their phone line was faulty, on finally connecting was told my booking does not exist. Faced last minute chaos trying to check if I could book with other hotels, before reaching Acacia - & finally getting a room. If it was available why the confusion?2> On entering the room, found it to be warm/almost tropical/humid - asked the hotel to fix the a/c - which is when a workman was sent & he started servicing the a/c in front of us - cleaning the filters & whatnot. The whole day of 23rd the room was hot & humid, extremely uncomfortable & unlivable so we proceeded to move outside for lunch. On coming back we noticed the room was filthy (having not done a thorough check on checkin as we were starved & wanted to move out for lunch), the areas under/beside the bed has hair, mud & whatnot - of which I took a picture to show to the reception desk manager. Showed it to her when we were leaving that night to go out. She told us she would have our room cleaned. I told her I definitely wanted that's day's hotel fee waived as it had been an absolute waste/torture.3> On checkout, when I checked the final bill, I was aghast that they had still charged the whole fee without so much as a sorry about your experience. A person at the reception desk (we hadn't seen before) proceeded to tell us they service guests from Oberoi/Taj, etc (because ofcourse we don't have the class to stay at the Acacia property, perhaps? And also possibly do not understand what it takes to live at a 5/7 star property?) which was not only shocking but extremely offensive.
Review 19:Lot of essentials were not in the room (like menu card, toiletries, slippers, bath robe, hair dryer, iron etc) had to call for it. Room service was slow. Had to make repeated calls and even then the order was not complete.
Review 20:Room - Cleanliness - friendly and helpful Staff
Review 21:There is no free wifi. Front units facing the street are a little noisy. Staff need to learn English. Some of them could not understand us. They also do not have a single brochure on things to do in Goa and when you ask the reception they just look at you puzzled.
Review 22:The location was good. Many shops and restaurants nearby. A little off the main party area...Baga but its just a 10 min cab ride away. Hotel was clean and staff took initiative where they could to help us. Room service food was awesome.
Review 23:The internet was not to good and you had to get a pin everyday to sign in took to much time to get on
Review 24:The hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were all very friend
Review 25:No sunken bar as stated No lounge bar as stated Nowhere to purchase a cup of coffee to sit and read a book Only place to read a book is the main lobby where guests arriving and noisy children running about Dirty plates left outside rooms for days4
Review 26:The bed was comfortable
Review 27:Not much realy. The pool could do with being heated. You get given tiny bits of paper with the access code for the free internet, these only last 24 hours, however they sometimes only lasted a few hours or didn't work at all, and although reception staff were always willing to give you another code, it was annoying at times to keep having to go down to get a new code.
Review 28:The staff were brilliant; always respectful; very helpful and very hard working. The food in the various restaurants was always good. It is a lovely hotel and we would certainly stay here again
Review 29:Very nice clean hotel with luxury rooms and comfy beds great air con Location close to all amenities staff very polite and helpful Great value for miney
Review 30:I was expecting better internet connection without having disconnected and get the IT to reconnected again, breakfast is quite poor. Waleed/ dubai
Review 31:The hotel is worth money to pay for, located in the middle of hubb, services are good, stuff are friendly.
Review 32:The hotel is very dirty, you could not sit out on the balcony because it was dirty, the room was dusty, they spent longer decorating the bed with towels than cleaning the room. When we checked in they asked for the full amount of money before we got our room, we asked if this was the final amount and they said yes, how ever when it came to checking out we were told we owed the tax, nearly 9,000 rup which we agreed to pay half.
Review 33:Location
Review 34:The hotel staff is very courteous. Hotel is located at a prime location at candolim in a proximity to beach and restaurants. The hotel is very comfortable. It has a spa and roof top restaurant too from where you can see the sunset.
Review 35:The street noises could be heard on the 1st floor rooms rather easily and disturbed sleep sometimes early in the morning.
Review 36:The rooms were very spacious and well maintained. The decor was very nice. The location was very close to the beach. This is what a 4 star should be like.
Review 37:Took 30 mins to check out, more used to Travel agent customers who have prepaid. Wanted us to enter WFI code daily for a 2 week trip ! Eventually sorted it out so we did not have to.
Review 38:Staff friendly , though light language barrier sometimes.
Review 39:The Wifi didn't work at all for the first 3 days but then thankfully Santa brought it on Christmas Eve and then it worked fine !!!
Review 40:The location is great, right on the main Candolim road.We initially booked for 4 nights but ended up staying 10 over the Xmas holidays. On Christmas Eve we had a Turkey dinner (with chips and Sprouts !!! ) at the outdoor roof top restaurant where there is very little light so were given torches to read the menus. The rooms are good and the service is fine, all the staff are polite and helpful. I would recommend this hotel.
Review 41:Breakfast is disgusting, impossible to eat anything: meals are rehoted, chemical juices, industrial cake...it's catastrophic! Room are small. Very noisy hotel. This hotel is too expensive for the service
Review 42:Staff is kindly and helpful Spa is very good with very professional staff
Review 43:After having booked online and then stopping by at the hotel and reconfirming our booking 2 days prior to check in date, they said they didn't have a room on the day of the check in. Reason being maintenance issue. Real reason being rooms were going at a very high price in the vicinity due to a music festival. In the age of the Internet, you don't piss a customer off with this unprofessionalism. They got us an alternate accommodation and charged us additional on our card. Alternate accommodation was good, and they get my future business. No way would we stay here ever, nor would I recommend. You don't need to take a chance on a holiday to be told by some hotel staff that your room is not available due to maintenance. What a lame excuse. Please don't bother with this one. Seriously.
Review 44:There was no hot water in the morning and the Wi-Fi didn't work well.
Review 45:The location was good. We enjoyed the Christmas gala dinner. The DJ and the singer were excellent.
Review 46:Very noisy, WiFi lousy, reservation did not arrive, swimming pool only looks good, not usable within restaurant and its cold. Next to loud street an shantadurga party stage, TV not working
Review 47:Clean rooms, breakfast OK
Review 48:Wifi never worked for the 48 hours we stayed Drinks are over-priced at the hotel bar Staff are friendly but inattentive and not too knowledgable about surrounding area
Review 49:The room was nice and clean Roof-top bar was great for drinks while overlooking the Goan streets Arrangement for Airport transfer was easy
Review 50:No wifi during my stay, they charged me during check in for 3 days, very poor check out system, ATM machine was not working, they charged extra for final check out in cash, staff is not well qualified as per 4 star property, first day they did not provide king size bed as requested, it is likly 3star.
Review 51:Location, comfort, roof top view izaara, breakfast
Review 52:This is me being picky, but probably the wifi is only thing that wasn't great. Maybe it was our devices but for whatever reason we had afew issues.
Review 53:The cleanliness, facilities, food, location, hotel in general and mainly the staff where amazing. There was no problems with communication as everybody spoke good English, the gorgeous beach is a stones throw away, the standard in the hotel was brilliant and the staff couldn't so enough for you. Apart from maybe fishermans cove the hotel food was arguably the best we had.
Review 54:The only suggestion we could provide to improve service would be to streamline the check out for an early departure. Ours was a 430 am departure and there were unexpected delays.
Review 55:The hotel is well equipped and well designed. The food in both restaurants was good quality. But I think the staff impressed us most. For instance, the restaurant staff were obviously well trained and were unfailingly helpful friendly and polite. We encountered Thompson in both restaurants and found him to be very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The spa is well set up and its staff also provide a high quality of service.
Review 56:The breakfast options were a Lil limited. While not all items can be made available on display, the option to arrange for providing off the counter stuff should be there like other hotels. (e.g. bacon, ham etc...I asked for a banana and I was politely told it cannot be arranged for.)
Review 57:Being a new property, it's in fantastic condition. Location is good as a walk down the road can take you to a large options of restaurants and shopping within seconds. Beach is a 5-7 mins walk. Overall a good stay. Recommended.
Review 58:Overpriced for the facilities available More a business hotel rather than one for a holiday Unusable swimming pool very limited parking facilities
Review 59:Good location Helpful staff
Review 60:Perverted maintenance. If your western and female; they're not safe! Staff were lazy! No hot water! Wifi didn't reach room.! Food was awful.! I'm veggie and I told them that (not unusal in India) -- they gave me salad that had obviously once had meat in it.! Disgusting!! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst energy! I had the most horrific time..
Review 61:Decor was lovely Amenities make it look like it should be great.. It is not great don't be fooled!
Review 62:rooms were always sandy.. the cleaning was not done properly. breakfast is ok.ok and area is not airconditioned so it gets a bit hot and sunny.
Review 63:Location was near candolium beach so taxi hire n clubs were near Rooms very very nice with 5 star modern feel. Masala art restaurant was superb food Spa treatments were also reasonable and satisfying. for the price this was excellent choice would recommend to others and would love to go again..
Review 64:the stay was a disaster from beginning to end: they did not receive the confirmed reservation room not available what was left was dirty with old bandaids on the floor, doors jammed or a/c not working next day the amount was booked from the credit card without invoice in the afternoon the staff asked me to pack my luggage: "we shift you to another room!" I will never ever come back to this hotel or recommend anyone to go here Noise, screams, no cleaning of room is all not even mentioned...
Review 65:Worst stay of life..had food poison after having gala dinner worth 21000..got sick ..holiday wasted bcoz of this hotel..
Review 66:nothing at all ..
Review 67:The room service food wasn't great. Minibar fridge didn't get refilled.
Review 68:The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable.
Review 69:No FREE wifi Sloppy breakfast Taxi drivers outside the hotel & called by the hotel staff are overcharging bullies
Review 70:Comfortable
Review 71:Housekeeping is lousy . Check out should be faster . They should cover the coffee shop . It's too hot .
