Reviews for The Beach Motel

Review 1:Little not to like. You get what it says on the tin Don't be put off by the derelict snooker hall next door !!

Review 2:Clean and comfortable with helpful friendly staff

Review 3:When you drive up to the buildings it looks in a very poor state and the car park is full of pot holes.

Review 4:Very clean room, good food and staff very helpful.

Review 5:There were some of inconsiderate people staying and making a lot of noise. The food available in the restaurant was quite expensive, for what was basically pub food. We chose to eat elsewhere.

Review 6:The room was clean and comfortable.

Review 7:I could not work out how to switch the shower on and there was no one around until 8am to ask. That person had never been in the bedrooms and didn't know. Also, the outside looks like a building site.

Review 8:It was quiet and staff were fine.

Review 9:Shame about building next door being empty and run down as its what you see as you drive up to the hotel. Couldn't have curtains open because anyone walking past would be able to see into my room.

Review 10:Lovely spacious clean room and very nice location for beauty spots

Review 11:The meal in the evening was very good,we had fish ( cod ) cooked perfectly but it was served on top of the mushy peas which made the bottom of the fish (the batter) soggy,it was a shame spoilt a very good meal

Review 12:It was a very pleasant stay Thank you

Review 13:Staff very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed lovely breakfasts and meals. Good shower and comfy and clean beds. Great location to chill out. Near beach and had a fun game of golf!

Review 14:none

Review 15:We arrived late, manager kept the kitchen open to provide evening meal. Manager helped us with car problem. Room clean and spa bath appreciated. Great little golf course

Review 16:The bathroom would benefit from a shelf/shelves near the washbasin, and additional rail for towels. Room 5 - no view!

Review 17:Good location Clean and spacious room Comfortable beds Good breakfast and service

Review 18:We had our first evening meal in The Driftwood restaurant on Saturday evening. The food, whilst well-cooked, was somewhat overpriced. The service was extremely poor and we waited over 35 minutes after the main course before the waitress returned and provided us with a menu to order a sweet. However, the waitress never returned to take our order so we then left the table and paid the bill!! A complaint was made to a member of staff on payment of the bill but no offer of recompense, just an apology = poor customer care. The second discontent was with the level of noise every night emanating from other guests; over-loud conversations outside the accommodation and inconsiderate door-banging during very late hours.

Review 19:it doesn't look great when you pull up but give it a chance !!!

Review 20:the spa bath in the room. the bar attached to the hotel. and the staff are very friendly

Review 21:Staff were really friendly and happy to help. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a good night sleep and were really close to the port for the next leg of our journey. Rooms are spacious.

Review 22:No bad experiences. The proximity of the shabby buildings seen as one approaches do not create a favourable first impression.

Review 23:Restaurant excellent. Breakfast good and substantial.

Review 24:Nothing! Everything was Perfect! :)

Review 25:Me and my Wife and youngest Daughter stayed here on 14th August 2015, for me and my wife's wedding anniversary. We had booked a family room, but when we arrived the kind gentleman gave us 2 rooms that interlocked as a family room. Room 204 & 205 on the second/top floor if memory serves us right. Both Rooms (One spacious Double) and (One spacious Twin Bed) were immaculately clean, comfy, lots of space, TV and coffee facilities and both rooms had Spa Baths, amazing :)All the staff upon arriving, during and at the end of our stay were very helpful, friendly and attentive. The motel has a pub/bar where a good selection of beer, wine and food are available with sky TV. If you just want to dine and drink separately, the very spacious Conservatory acts as the Motels main dining room/breakfast room, and is cool (heat wise), clean, plenty of tables and food is very good. We ordered the Steak (Another review recommended), Lamb Chops and a Kiddies meal that all came with adequate veg and chips etc.. The Steak and Lamb Chops were excellent. The morning Full English Breakfast was excellent, plentiful and selection of Cereals, Fruit and Juices were also available.Just to clear up a few reviews/comments regarding the Motel being next to a obnoxious derelict building. The Motel is split in two when you pull up at the front, All rooms to the left and the Reception/Pub/Bar/Dining Conservatory Room to right, so away from any loud noise at night, and rooms were quiet. The derelict building/snooker hall is noticeable when arriving in daylight to the far left behind the rooms, but can't be seen from any room or from the reception, Bar and Conservatory during day or night time, so you don't know its there till moving away from the building. So it doesn't affect the stay at all!!Make no mistake, this is an excellent Motel and 2 minutes walk from Trearddur Bay which has a clean beach and is picturesque at night!

Review 26:Only thing that lets the Motel down is the rundown snooker hall next to the property.

Review 27:All staff were very friendly and gave good service. Breakfast and evening meal were both excellent. Room was comfortable and clean. Nice quiet location with a lovely beach just a 5 minute walk away.

Review 28:The restaurant was in a large conservatory type building and when we visited it was like a greenhouse so hot that we asked to be seated in the main bar but there was a quiz going on so we were sat in the breakfast area , we were very surprised to see the following mornings cereals etc especially the small pots of uncovered butter. Anyone in the bar or restaurant could walk through. The food was basic and over priced the steak being very disappointing .

Review 29:Good location easy walk to the beach and shops , close to ferry terminal.

Review 30:Wifi

Review 31:The owners and staff were very helpful and flexible with our additional requests ( extra beds / later check out and food to the room). Will stay again.

Review 32:As our visit was for the night of Friday of the bank holiday the hotel was quite noisy-this was not the hotel's fault, but the visitors! As others have said 'do not be put off by the external appearance'.

Review 33:Friendly and helpful staff combined with a very good and roomy bedroom and good food.

Review 34:No WiFi connection..but probably not your fault. .and in any case..it was good to give technology a break for a couple of days. It was a very windy night...warm, so I wanted the window open. Sounded like the roof was going to fall in. However..shut the window and the noise went away..just like that. Not sure what created this....nor how it could be sorted out...just an interesting phenomenon.

Review 35:Welcome reception at the end of a long journey. Quiet and clean in excellent location. Hot hot hot water..spa bath was fun but I managed to get water everywhere (sorry). Excellent food....best chips ever..but far too many ! Helpful friendly staff.

Review 36:This was our second visit this year.myself my daughter and two year old grand daughter.the hotel is very child friendly. The management and staff were very friendly and welcoming.Bedrooms were very clean and comfortable and the restaurant excellent and the location to beach could not have been better.I would recommend the Beach Motel to anyone staying in Trearddur Bay.

Review 37:Sometimes there was a noise from something on the roof like a banging which sounded like it was right above the room.

Review 38:Perfect location. Rooms are very clean. The jacuzi bath was brilliant. Food was really good and restraunt was busy at every service.

Review 39:The look of other buildings around the car park were a little unsettling when we first arrived but were soon forgotten once we had seen registered and seen the room.

Review 40:Friendly staff, clean comfortable room, excellent food.

Review 41:The staff were very helpful and enthusiastic. My friend left her spare handbag in a drawer in her room and they had already phoned to say they had found it before she realised she had left it in the room.

Review 42:Good value for money motel. Very clean and good size room. Motel restaurant provided generous yummy meals at reasonable rates so we ate there both nights. Staff very friendly and helpful. Best understanding of gluten free meals experienced so far in the UK.

Review 43:A touch expensive when compared to the big chains particularly when thinking of bed comfort

Review 44:Beautiful location with loads of walking opportunities and a gorgeous beach The food was delicious both dinner and breakfast Rooms were nice and big

Review 45:Was next to an old ugly empty building and was quite noisy at night.walls were very thin so could hear lots of noise from other rooms

Review 46:Location was really close to the beach and the rooms were modern and clean with excellent facilities staff were lovely

Review 47:Had pre booked and reconfirmed a travel cot for the room. Got there at 1am having driven for 6 hours to find no travel cot set up. Reception is not 24 hours so no one available to deal with problem.

Review 48:Good location for the ferry

Review 49:The exterior of the motel is poor and we worried we had booked a bad place. However, the inside is quite the opposite

Review 50:The staff were so friendly and helpful you could not fault them. I am convinced they all love working there. Breakfast was really lovely and the rooms were spotless. We loved it!

Review 51:Large, comfortable room, very clean with lots of extra touches, like an iron and ironing board, toiletries and plenty of towels. Fabulous food in the restaurant and friendly staff.

Review 52:The wi-if was a bit quirky, needing guests to log in via their browser every time they wanted to use it, but it was free! The two breakfasts we had could not have been more different - in the first, the bacon appeared to have been microwaved and the scrambled eggs were lumpy and rubbery. In the second the bacon was well grilled or fried and the poached eggs were delicious - different staff?

Review 53:Our room was excellent - quite a surprise to find a 'Travelodge/Premier Inn' style room in Trearddur Bay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We've eaten in the Driftwood Restaurant at the Beach Motel many times and never had a bad meal.

Review 54:The surrounding area of the Motel is a bit rough looking due to a derelict building next door

Review 55:The staff were fantastic - service with a smile and very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and fresh looking. Food was good.

Review 56:Nothing to do with the hotel, if you shut your eyes as you drive up to the car park so as to ignore the boarded up snooker hall beside it then everything else is fine.

Review 57:The friendliness of the staff, everyone was helpful. Dinner was superb, breakfast far better then expected. A pleasure to stay here, if I ever have to stay in Holyhead again I will stay here.

Review 58:View from outside- run down snooker club. Safety of window. Could open but not lock in place.

Review 59:friendly staff, rooms clean and fresh looking. Very good food.

Review 60:On arrival greeted by derelict building which made the place look very untidy. Bed was uncomfortable and too short! Sauce at breakfast was a few months out of date!

Review 61:Breakfast was good, fast service. Girl friend loved bath.

Review 62:We did not like the approach to the room (up a fire escape). Other guests had to walk past large front window to get to their room which meant lack of privacy. The approach to the hotel is not good and does not give the right impression - derelict building next door, overgrown weeds etc. Staff have done all they can to overcome this.

Review 63:Room clean and comfortable. All amenities provided. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 64:The room was comfortably cool, good for sleeping. The location close to beautiful Trearddur beach, yet 10 minutes away from the ferry port was great. The Driftwood restaurant food was very good!

Review 65:Only let down is we always have problems with wifi when we stay

Review 66:Always like staying a this motel. Great location, pleasant staff & great accommodation.

Review 67:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 68:Everything - welcoming and friendly staff from booking in to checking out, lovely clean room with a most comfortable bed. We enjoyed our evening meals in the Driftwood Restaurant and also had excellent breakfast at the Beach Motel. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable. We're now looking forward to our next visit.

Review 69:The derelict snooker hall next door let's down the initial appearance but don't be fooled as the place itself is great.

Review 70:Bedroom was large with both a double & single bed & well laid out with everything needed, a large telly & free wi-fi. The bathroom had a Jacuzzi bath with shower over & supplied with plenty of large fluffy towels & shampoo etc. Everywhere was spotlessly clean & very comfortable. All the staff were great & very helpful. There was a very good menu choice with good sized portions & delicious. We were part of a large group & will be happy to stay again.

Review 71:Initial impressions as you approach the motel are very poor and off putting because of the derelict snooker hall right beside it. The motel itself though was good , slightly overpriced at £78 and no breakfast included considering the four stars and location. Really nice staff and good access for walk on the beautiful beaches.

Review 72:The motel had absolutely no curb appeal. Motel reception was at the bar and had no dedicated staff.

Review 73:The room was clean and comfortable. Facilities were good.

Review 74:Well! Wasn't expecting such a large and dominating dilapidated snooker hall next door, we wondered what we had arrived to. Once in the Motel, all was fine. WIFI didn't work in our second floor bedroom.

Review 75:Host was welcoming, despite being busy. Place was buzzing with people and even a well behaved hen party! Room was large and comfortable. Not hard to find fire escape, as they are the stairs(external) to the first and second floors.

Review 76:Only the wifi couldn't get it in our room had to ask the owner to boot it up the next morning.

Review 77:We arrived just on 9 pm as the resturant was closing but they took our order and it was the best pub meal we have had so far. Hot and fresh with loads of vegies at reasonable price. Our room heaters were on for our arrival and we loved the underfloor heating in our very accessible bathroom.

Review 78:slow service is restaurant, dated menu with ridiculously large portions, no toilet roll holder, no shelves in bathroom, breakfast within earshot but not sight of TV is annoying, bathroom not cleaned during our stay (altho overall cleanliness not an issue)

Review 79:comfortable bed, pleasant looking room, air spa bath, lovely desserts,

Review 80:Please put a shelf and towel rail in the bathroom near the sink.

Review 81:The staff were brilliant. Friendly and helpful. Location was great for an early morning ferry crossing. Dinner very good. Room clean and spacious with a comfy bed.

Review 82:A little noisy with the other guests unfortunately when I stayed we had the misery of loud rude children above our beautiful room.

Review 83:Fantastic family run business friendly and Welcoming staff especially the owners son.we had dinner in our room and the food was fantastic.

Review 84:The approach to the hotel is a bit off-putting, there is a building at the side that is neglected, don't let this put you off , the room is lovely the area is lovely. We didn't enjoy breakfast didn't rate the sausages, but that might be personal choice and I thought it was over priced at £8.50 each

Review 85:the rooms were gorgeous the spa bath was brilliant, the room is lovely the area is lovely. Would definitely stay again

Review 86:Not applicable

Review 87:I stayed with my daughter and grand daughter aged 2.the room was lovely.very clean.nice food in restaurant .staff and management very friendly.great location across from beach.would definitely stay there again

Review 88:I found the outside steps difficult, but next time I will ask for a ground floor room.

Review 89:The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and warm, and there was even an iron and ironing board. The food in the restaurant was excellent.

Review 90:It was a very windy through the night n the window was whistling not a big deal really

Review 91:When we arrived the lady on reception was very helpful our room was clean and warm. The evening meal was just delicious the atmosphere was pleasant and the staff were polite and nothing was to much trouble. The cooked breakfast was filling. We left knowing we will be booking in again

Review 92:The wifi went down on the Saturday. My only issue, is I prob wouldnt have a ground floor accomodation, only due to the fact that there was birthday party held at the hotel on the Sat & we were bombarded by stones being thrown at our window by children that had been playing outside for a couple of hours. This is where the wifi was missed as with there being no room phone, we couldnt contact reception without going outdoor, which with a unwell husband I couldnt do. This was explained to the cleaner in the Morning as she haad to sweep up the stones outside our room.

Review 93:From stepping into the reception area, we were greeted by a pleasant gentleman named Matthew.Who booked us in, introduced the other staff behind the bar to us by their name. Offered to carry our luggage to the room, & assured us if anything we needed to just ask.

Review 94:This Motel is faultless.........

Review 95:Room was spotless and comfortable. We could not wish for more The food and staff were excellent And virtually on the seashore.

Review 96:The television remote didn't work properly

Review 97:Thoroughly enjoyed our staff at the beach motel, staff were very friendly & helpful, room was lovely warm & comfy, very clean bathroom loved the spa bath!

Review 98:Everything! Lovely welcome, friendly, caring attitude from all staff from start of our stay to the finish. Clean, spacious room, delicious evening meal in Driftwood Restaurant with lovely breakfast next morning. Our 4th stay in 10 months. Thank you to all at the Beach Motel, look forward to our 5th stay in the near future.

Review 99:Nothing

Review 100:A very friendly welcome and were very pleased to have an early check in. Lunch in the Driftwood was great, ham, egg and chips, were excellent. I would recommend the Beach Motel to all my friends and family. We will be back for a longer stay soon. The weather was beautiful.

Review 101:The rooms are cosy, the spar baths are amazing! And the staff are so friendly. Been going to Anglesey for years and didn't know about this place, but wil deffo be going back!

Review 102:Could have done with a bigger car park, but that was very minor overall

Review 103:The staff were all very helpful and really made me feel welcome. The food was excellent and the room was really comfortable.

Review 104:I explicitely asked if reception is open at 12 am as the ferry docked just after 12AM, first off all the address is wrong because I wasted half an hour to find the place, never found it. Tried phoning and the phone just rang and rang, now I am getting charged 50 pounds for not being able to check in. We were forced to look for another place and like any good accommodation we found one where reception was open, I am seriously upset about this. All the other places we booked for our journey this December were great except this one. It is really not fair to be charged if you can't check and to prove that we were at holy head I can provide prove of our alternative accommodation which I ended up paying more for.

Review 105:Didn't have the opportunity to like anything.

Review 106:The noise from the smokers chatting outside the bar might bother some.

Review 107:So convenient for Holyhead. The room was extremely large and spotless. The staff were also very friendly. Very good for an overnight stay for the ferry.

Review 108:The wind howled all through one night (especially through the metal staircase outside). Not anyone's fault, but it was difficult to sleep.

Review 109:The staff (front desk and restaurant) were terrific! Very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Evening meal was very good and well-presented. The room was spacious, clean, and nicely decorated with lots of beautiful oak furnishings. Bathroom was large, clean, and had a towel warmer, too!

Review 110:The abandoned snooker hall next door is a bit of an eyesore . However the great night's sleep more than made up for it

Review 111:Everyone was friendly , the room was very clean and comfortable , The bathroom was excellent ,breakfast was great , the price was reasonable . Getting on the ferry fully rested was a new experience for us . We will definately stay here again

Review 112:We stayed for one night prior to catching the boat to Dublin and had a very pleasant stay. The welcome was warm, the staff were very friendly and efficient. Our room was very clean and had all the basic amenities required for a comfortable stay: particularly liked the comfy bed, the fluffy towels, the great shower (no drip, drip here!) and the blackout blinds.

Review 113:As someone else said,do not be put off when you first drive up. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very spacious and very clean, the bar staff very friendly and the customers were also very friendly which made a few drinks go down well, also had a meal there, very good, glad we stayed there, close to Holyhead port where we had to drop our hire car off. C&M Queensland Australia

Review 114:It is a bit off the beaten track although access was reasonably ok. Found the 'beef' burger had very little flavour.

Review 115:Having stayed at the Beech Motel earlier this year we were pleased that we could have the same room as before as it is more suitable for my wife's mobility problem. Plus the comfort was superb.

Review 116:Its appearance and the fact that other guests are walking right past your room.

Review 117:Large comfortable rooms and very friendly staff who made me feel as though I was an important guest.

Review 118:would recommend thicker curtains also lined .

Review 119:Great staff, really nice food, good sized portions . starters brill . Room very clean and spacious. with all mod cons super. we will be back in summer !!! cheers Spencer from Stockport a hotelier myself .

Review 120:We had a very good evening meal. The room was excellent and the evening meal was followed by a very good nights sleep. The staff were very helpful and we left the following morning with an intention to return when again in the area.

Review 121:It was a really ugly building and our room overlooked the refuse bins at the back of the hotel. Even though it was a warm night we had to keep the window closed because of the noise from the hotel kitchens.

Review 122:The room was clean and the bed very comfortable I can't comment on the breakfast as we didn't have any. We used the room for one night as we were catching the Irish ferry the next day. It was fine but I wouldn't have wanted to stay longer.

Review 123:nothing,this is a excellent run motel

Review 124:a small problem with the booking of a twin room was resolved very profesionally with minimum of fuss ,staff from the chef through to the maids were friendly and efficent .

Review 125:The very noisy metal staircase outside our bedroom which kept us awake when people came up it late at night in different groups!

Review 126:The fact that we could stay for one night before we went to a house we had rented for the next week. The rooms are very nice indeed almost 4 star!

Review 127:Ground floor room close to metal steps, children running up and down them at night whilst my 4 year old was trying to sleep.

Review 128:Excellent breakfast but rather overpriced.

Review 129:A little bit noisy on the ground floor on Saturday night as right next to the pub (but we were in bed early!) When you drive up the location looks a bit run down because of a disused building at the back - however the rooms themselves were very clean and felt like they had been recently refurbished

Review 130:Location next to the beach Rooms were large, well equipped and very clean Staff were very friendly and helpful Good facilities for young children Facilitated a late check in

Review 131:As I have said before, you have to take no notice of the old snooker hall as you drive up to the Beach Motel. From the moment we booked in to the moment we left we couldn't have been made more welcome by the staff at the Beach Motel. Our room was spacious and clean. We had a delicious evening meal in the Driftwood Bar. Breakfast next morning was just perfect with bacon, eggs and sausage cooked just to our liking. Our third stay at the Beach Motel was just the same as the first and second - perfect. So a big thank you to the staff there for making our short break so comfortable and enjoyable.

Review 132:Having the pub close by means that it was rather noisy into the small hours.

Review 133:Fabulous staff and the restaurant serves great food. Good basic accomodation.

Review 134:The rooms are located on an annex next to a closed snooker hall. The stairway leading up to the rooms is iron so you hear everyone coming and going and sleeping is not easy. Had to pay extra for breakfast.

Review 135:Rooms were big and clean and the Spa bath was lovely and relaxing. Great to be near the bay.
