Reviews for Cairo International Hostel

Review 1:Noise level is super high -- literally non-stop honking on the big street outside that comes in the thin windows (which don't close properly) till about 3am. Slummy building. Shared bathroom is not super clean, and hard to get into in the morning. This is really a cheap hostel, despite the rating (8.5?! Are people crazy?).

Review 2:Beds were big and comfortable. If what you want is a super cheap hostel, and you're perhaps young and planning to stay out till 2 or 3am anyway, this could be an acceptable choice. But that's about it.

Review 3:The staff of the hotel was amazing I have gane new brothers there ,the environment was good and positive, the internet was free and fast, the staff was happy to suggest and git the booking for me for what I need Thanks Mohammed , Abdullrahman and Osama for the best experience

Review 4:Atmosphere was not great. The staff weren't very welcoming or helpful. For a better atmosphere the Miami hostel in the same building is 10x better and all the facilities are exactly the same

Review 5:Average facilities, standards were what you'd expect for hostel in Egypt (not European standards but clean and secure)

Review 6:This only bothered me because I have allergies and cigarette smoke exacerbates it but the staff frequently smoked in the lobby. The room itself was smoke free and very nice though!

Review 7:Great value for money, walking distance to Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum, very clean and nice facilities, wifi was excellent!

Review 8:We need push and push, then they are getting up and prepare the breakfast, which should be ready around 08:30. We booked one triple room, and one twin room, but when we arrived, there were only one 4-bed room left, and one bed was available in another room. We accepted this finally, but they submitted a No-Show to the www.booking.com, which I got email yesterday, with a no-show cost happening debit.

Review 9:It is in an old building of the downtown, price is not bad.

Review 10:Nice place to stay in , location was good and The rooms were nice and comfortable. The owner is friendly and ready to help you with anything you may need. Highly recommended

Review 11:The rooms was clean and nicely designed with comfortable beds..The prices for the rooms are reasonable and includes breakfast..The Staff are friendly and was always willing to help and fulfill my needs during my stay Can also help with transport to/from the airport or organize tours..The location is very good.. highly recommend this hostel..It is good value.

Review 12:Its on 4th floor, you can use Lift while going up but for down you have to use stair, its difficult specially when you carry 20Kg lugage..

Review 13:Its good value for money,

Review 14:Very friendly owners.. Great location, value for money.. it felt like home. I booked for 2 nights and I was unable to arrive on the supposedly check in date because I was outside Cairo and they charged me for 1 night only.

Review 15:the hotel is in the old town center and by the side of the road. It is very noisy at night. There is only shared bathroom and the facility isn't work well.

Review 16:The hostel is in a historical building, it is good to have a experience in it. The first staff we meet at noon is very nice person. The other is fair. The price is good.

Review 17:the lift goes up and we must take stairs :) to go down. but its ok being a traveler

Review 18:Staff was so good, cooperative, they guided me as i dint know the local lang. they was so friendly and good. Osama the staff guy really took good care abt me, in guiding me, helping me n took much care for what i have asked. Even the girl receptionist was good&kind at the hostel. She is doing well with english and can improve more

Review 19:The staff were all very kind and helpful and went out of their way to do extra things for you , the location superb. the hostel was so quietly elegant. This hostel was recommended to me by a friend and I will also recommend it to my friends and family.

Review 20:I have stayed at cairo international hostel many times and love it. Clean rooms ,Friendly staff and good location. Would certainly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Review 21:Blankets could have used a changing, and the room was a little cramped being that there were three beds in it.

Review 22:The staff was great and the location is ideal. The room was clean. Sheets were freshly washed. It was an overall great value.

Review 23:The hostel is not particularly easy to find.

Review 24:Cairo International Hostel is a very friendly place in a central location with loads of shops and interesting places nearby. The staff speak good English and are laid back guys who are quite often available to chat, watch TV with etc. Osama in particular was a joy to hang out with.

Review 25:I was satisfied with my accomodation, however it is important to remember Egypt is very different to Europe, Australia and the states when choosing accomodation

Review 26:The staff really welcomed me! The day time receptionist took time after his shift to escort a young single mother to a nearby store in the evening. He also took me on adventures around the city and showed me some beautiful and popular local areas

Review 27:The owner and staff were very helpful and easy to chat with. They made me feel very welcome and even spent a couple of evenings in the hostel chilling with them, watching the football and movies.

Review 28:Breakfast very very poor: just a small glass of tea and some bread with marmelade. The hotel is inside an historical but quite run down old building. Bathrooms to share not always clean needing repairings.

Review 29:Friendly and helpful staff. Central but quiet position. Good value for money.

Review 30:The noise; it is located in a very busy area (the heart of Cairo), this makes it noisy 24/7.

Review 31:The staff is very helpful. The location is very central.

Review 32:Building entrance can be easily missed, signs are small. Street noise might bother some people. Non-smokers might be bothered by smoking on lobby.

Review 33:Clean facilities, rooms and furniture inside are modern, fast and strong wifi, helpful, non-invasive and friendly staff. There are 2 shared bathrooms that are constantly kept clean. Always a member of staff on reception area. Location superb in the middle of downtown. KFC next door and lots of shops around.

Review 34:You have to know that this is really very cheap for the centre of Cairo and so mustn't expect too much. I felt claustrophobic in the hotel as it is in a very old (the famous Yacoubian Building, no less!) building and the curtains are all shut, it is dark and the windows are inaccessible in my room - anyway if you opened them, it would be onto the noisy Talaat Harb Street - but hey - this is Cairo, what do you expect? The bathroom is a bit iffy and my towel, although washed smelt of sick. Sorry, Mohammed.

Review 35:Mohammed, the young owner of this hostel, is extremely polite, helpful, gentle, quiet, non-invasive and kind. He is really doing his best to get his business underway (6 months now). I arrived a few minutes before iftar in Ramadan and they just automatically put a plate for me to share in the food Osama, Moh's young assistant, had made at home. Moh. also managed toorganise transport for me from the hotel - although it is good to have a telephone contact number for this. I had a problem with my phone, but through helpful guys at the airport (one refused any money totally and he called the hotel twice and also received calls from them and the driver - this is what makes Egypt special) at 12 $ which is more than reasonable andavoids the terrible hassle with taxi drivers at the airport ( bad side of airport - very bad. you are swamped there and there is no airport bus to city centre - why Egypt?). I had booked a single room and Moh. kept his word, turning down guests to put me in a four bedded room!

Review 36:The owners are always on site, ready to help with any info or service. Very nice decor overall & room was quiet & spacious. We would stay there again. Tip- arrange your pick-up and drop-off airport service before you arrive to avoid the hassles of the airport taxis. You can arrange all your activities through them- the pyramids, Nile Cruise, all driving needs. You can trust them to give you a fair price that is a complete package. You cannot imagine all the offers you'll receive from anyone & everyone on the streets- very few are legitimate.

Review 37:Booked for one night as I wasn't sure how the place would be but was pleasantly surprised. Got allocated one of the newer rooms and it was super clean! Would recommend this property as its location is excellent.

Review 38:Pleasant and welcoming however once offered a tour by staff we declined and the welcoming nature quickly changed. Minimal recognition thereafter. The main manager should consider the needs of their guests.

Review 39:Mohamed and Abdoo will welcome you with a smile. Just let them know what you want to do and they will make the arrangement at the best price. I remember having let my door open and when i was back everything was here.

Review 40:One of the Best I've ever experienced, very good location , clean, safe and lovely atmosphere ..Awesome staff Mr Mohamad and abdelrhaman are so friendly and helpful. Strongly recommend this place and hope to be back again.

Review 41:Everything was ok to me. Perhaps bathroom could be renewed but it was clean and fulfilled its functions.

Review 42:The location is very good, the hostel rooms are nice and comfortable, the place is safe inside and outside the hostel. Very good value for money and good spot to discover the city. Owners are friendly and honest. The pick up service at airport was perfect!

Review 43:The mixed-use building itself looks a little sketchy and the building common space needs a serious renovation, but within the hostel walls everything is fine.

Review 44:Steps from the museum and in the main part of the city shops. It's a very busy area but the rooms are quiet, and spacious. The staff is extremely friendly and the shared single bathroom is huge.

Review 45:Exceptional

Review 46:excellent location, clean rooms, comfortable beds ,well decorated and nicely lit..fast Wifi reached inside room ..The staff is great and helpful thank you for such a great stay i will definitely stay here next time.

Review 47:nothing

Review 48:One of the best places to stay in Cairo. Best location, best staff and best accomodation. Do not try to find other place, this one is the perfect one !

Review 49:the breakfast was very basic, low water pressure for the shower, bath towel provided only upon request, entrance from the ground floor was dark like a run down place

Review 50:friendly owners, great location but not easy to find as signboard is small. Airport transfer was arranged at reasonable price

Review 51:I was rather nervous as a woman travelling to Cairo alone, when I checked in I was made to feel extremely welcome. The hostel is managed by two lovely brothers, whom were very attentive. They helped me with plans for my entire trip which I found such a help as I do not speak Arabic. Every evening the manager helped me learn a few more words to help me get by when I was out and about in the city alone. many thanks my trip to Cairo was awesome

Review 52:The staff were ever so friendly, helpful and professional. They make you feel home! I asked for an Airport transfer and it was arranged without any problems. The driver was exactly on time. Mohamed, Abdo and Omar are really helpful; If you need any information about local historical sites, restaurants and shops around the area, do not hesitate to ask them for any advise you may need. In my previous review, I forget to mention that the tour guide to the Pyramids organised by the hostel was very professional, direct and worth every penny (pound in this case). Keep up the good work guys and see you soon, Tot ziens!

Review 53:Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I arrived at Cairo at 2:00am and they arranged somebody picked me up at the airport. Since I don't have any map of Cairo. The staff told me detail information about how to get to sights. Also they helped me to book a trip at a reasonable price.

Review 54:The breakfast is rather basic, but ok for the price and served till noon! For the moment, there are no ensuite bedrooms..

Review 55:I've been travelling to Cairo for quite some time and this hostel (not hotel) rises above the competition. It is located on the 4th floor of the historical "yacoubian building" (try to read the book!) in a completely renovated flat. It is run by a very professional and attentive staff, always ready to help you! The facilities are good, the rooms spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms always kept very clean.Overall, the best hostel experience in Cairo...by far!

Review 56:Really nice staffs. I've had lovely talk with them. The dessert tour arranged by the team is quite awesome. They even helped us to send postcards.

Review 57:The location is acctually pretty central, some walking minutes from Egyptian Musem. However, it's pretty busy and lout, since the hostel is located in a shopping street. The good thing is that you find all facilities you need very close. The bathrooms are clean, but need to be better organized to make it more comfortable, since water is everywhere after the shower. The breakfest was poor.

Review 58:The rooms were very beautiful arranged, the beds really comfortable and clean. Some rooms even had a small balcony. The owners and the staff are really nice, two young brothers and friends who will be willing to help you with everything you need. One of them is a tourist guide and can help you organizing your tours.

Review 59:Great place to stay, friendly staff. Clean rooms and comfi beds. I would recommend this place if you need to be downtown with few minutes walking from the Egyptian museum, Tahrir square and a short taxi drive to the famous Khan El Khalili souks. There are good restaurants around the corner, Try Koshary Tahrir( Koshary: traditional Egyptian vegetarian meal) just a cross the street. I'll def be back again soon!

Review 60:It was not an issue during my stay, but I guess a lack od air con may not be ideal during hot summer days (but the owner is aware of this and is planning to fix this).

Review 61:It's a small hostel run by nice guys who really care about their guests and put a lot of effort in what they do. The place is situated in a historic building in a very good location in one of the main streets of Cairo (~10 minutes to the Egyptian Museum on foot, plenty of shops and places to eat around). The rooms, bathroom, kitchen etc. are well maintained and clean. The hostel staff can arrange tours at reasonable prices according to the needs and requirements of their guests.

Review 62:Almost non.

Review 63:Staff were efficient and very friendly They arranged everything I needed..they spoke excellent English. The area was clean ,and relatively quiet...Comfortable beds ,speed wifi , 24 hours hot water and 24 hours open reception. The hostel located in a very good place , near to Tahrir square and down town , loved this hostel. The best hostel I have stayed in.

Review 64:Beds were a little hard and breakfast wasn't amazing but all good really and totally good value for money.

Review 65:Location was perfect - right in the centre of downtown and walkable to lots of places including the Egyptian museum. Really spacious rooms and not many of them so not too hectic!

Review 66:Street noise. Dark, unfriendly lobby.

Review 67:It's a hostel so shared baths etc, but the rooms and quality of beds was more like a 3-4 star. There is a good amount of street noise. Bring earplugs.

Review 68:the shower room needs mats to stop you slipping and a shower curtain to stop the water spreading.

Review 69:its realy close to the museum and a taxi ride to the market. it was a bit confusing to find but the entrance is next to KFC. the intetior of the building is amazing all artDeco especially the wooden lift. we left before breakfastto avoid the continual trafic.the staff were friendly and helpfull and there is a Drinks shop not far up the road if you fancy a beer.

Review 70:The bathroom . The photos do not match with the reality. Some of the roofs are very Noisy. The breakfast is in the reception.

Review 71:Location very good. The staff Is very friendly

Review 72:The bathroom is poor deisged. This will be better if there are some little furniture in the room , for example , chair or little table.

Review 73:Interior is very good. Staff is so friendly and helpful. Room is clean and very cozy.

Review 74:I didnt like the smoking in the lobby which is at the same time the room for having breakfast so that i had to eat in my room.

Review 75:Staff is super friendly and committed. Beds are huge and comfortable.Rooms are nicely decorated and the central location makes the low prices unbeatable.

Review 76:- I was overbooked on the first night and put in a nearby hostel which was dirty and facilities were poor. - the shower room is an all in one and gets very wet and slippery when someone has a shower - the tours offered are expensive for what you get and can be much cheaper if done separately. Tours included trips to shops were customers are pretty much forced to buy things. - the breakfast on offer could have been a bit better, they were just heated up packaged breads when egypt is famous for their homemade fresh bread.

Review 77:- the hotel was very clean and tidy and definitely worth the money - location is very good and close to some great restaurants and shops - staff are very friendly and will help with any problems, although the information on tours might have been more honest (claiming trains were more expensive than they were) - place is safe and you feel your stuff is in good hands - Wi-Fi is fast and always available

Review 78:I stayed for 6 night, and I extended my stay for another 6 nights, staff are wonderful and cheerful, the place is very clean, and the location is that center of downtown Cauro which is great. Beakfast is served from 8 till noon. You will be surrounded with friendly smile until you leave, and you will want to book here again.

Review 79:The room for four people is near the street which is actually a little bit noisy in the night, but it is no problem for us to sleep since we were extremely tired.(I SUGGEST Mahamed to install some noisy-proof material if it is possible). One thing my friends dont like is that when we came back from the desert we talked to Mahamed to stay in the hostel for one more night which we didnt reserved before . He promised to leave us a room but when we arrived we ere told the room was already occupied. However, they apologized and arranged us to their friends`s hostel which is good too. Everything is perfect except this two. :) I still recommend travellers this hostel Ps, If the breakfast is included ,you need to tell Mahamed one day before,at least not late than 8:00 p.m.

Review 80:The location is good,we can walk to the Egyptian in like 10~15 minutes;to be metro station in 7~8 minutes. Also we have lots of choices of restaurants nearby (the most exciting thing is it is near the restaurant for the best Koshary in Cairo, like about 7-minute walking :D ) It is also near the post office and exchange. The staff is helpful too. The owner is a tour guide himself. He gave us useful advice and helped us with our luggage too. We actually stayed here in our first night and came back living in this hostel in our last day in Cairo I think i will come to this hostel if i visit Cairo again in the future.

Review 81:very beautiful and original decoration.very clean hostel close to all.personnel are very nice help you to do nice trip with nice price. confortable bed.

Review 82:Not the hostels responsibility, but the entrance of the building is not to clean.

Review 83:Family run, makes a big difference of experience in Cairo. Owners are helpful, flexible and honest. The beds are big and rooms have nice balconies.

Review 84:-My room lacked space due to bulky queen size bed. -Elevator doesnt come up on pressing the button.. -Small signboard difficult to find the place..

Review 85:This is my first travelling hostel other than boarding school hostel...so to be fair i think it is a pretty nice place to sleep similar to 3 star hotel other than toilet being outside..Friendly staff, Free wifi and comfortable bed.

Review 86:The owner of the hostel was very kind and helpfull.he tried to make anything possible( big thanks for the bananas!!!!) The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very nice and clean.if you like it quiet don t choose a room on the side of the street..

Review 87:The place was soooo cozy, i feel like home while staying there.. The staffs were very friendly. I definitely gonna stay there again if i were in Cairo again. Highly recommended

Review 88:No sign, hard to find Very run down building you have to go to the fourth floor of. But nice onceyou getinside the hostel

Review 89:Good wifi Friendly staff Clean room

Review 90:Finding the place, yet once you know its between a KFC and McDonalds it will be easy to find. A sign would help

Review 91:Having travelled around Egypt for the last 3 weeks without doubt this as been the best place I've stayed. The staff were super friendly, who are more than willing to help without trying to sell you tours. The hostel is new so the place is fresh and very clean. The beds are very good. Wi-Fi is the best I've used in Egypt. Its very good value for money with great standards. I extended my stay here by 3 more days as I was more than happy to stay here. Hope they keep it up

Review 92:Located in middle of all shops, 10 minutes walk from Egyptian Museum, Tahrir Square, Subway station. Very clean and neat. Staff are very welcoming and there to assist you at any capacity from shopping, transportation and to site visiting. Mind you simple breakfast is included bread, cheese, coffee or tea and Jam. I would go back same hostel on my next visit. Again thanks Mohamed and Abdulrahman for all your kindness and welcoming.

Review 93:There is no bathroom inside the room...but the bathroom outside the room is very very clean as well

Review 94:The bed was very comfortable The cleanliness The staff is very friendly Location is amazing I liked being in a historical building like Yacoubian building I would definitely come back :)

Review 95:nothing everythis is perfect

Review 96:I was lucky enough to book my stay at Cairo international hostel This hostel is amazing..They do airport pick up and the tours organized by them are very nice and cheap ..The staffs are very friendly, the location is perfect, the decoration is amazing ,hot water 24 hours, clean rooms , comfortable beds, fast Wifi and feel free to use the kitchen.. i have stayed at countles hostels but in my opinion Cairo internationl hostel not a hostel it's five star hotel..thank you guys

Review 97:Bathrooms weren't well planned, there was a lacking of surface space to put your things on and the floor was always wet and slippery. Mohamed, the owner said he was aware and is planning to make some changes, the hostel is only 3 weeks open and is still doing the finishing touches.

Review 98:Excellent central location within walking distance to Museum, shops and Go Bus. As solo woman traveller I felt completely safe in this Hostel. Although the street entrance is a little rough it has no relation to the Hostel. The Hostel has been recently renovated so has new really comfortable clean beds, good pillows and also has excellent wifi connection in the room. Lots of hot water. Staff were knowledgeable, helpful, offering good directions and arranging tours and transport. Luggage storage, available, I'm so grateful they are keeping mine for 3 months! Guests were well supplied with customary hospitality of serving tea on comfy couches.

Review 99:Be careful because there is no sign for the hostel so very hard to find in downtown where everything looks similar! Even taxi couldnt find it :(

Review 100:Its a New hostel so everything is clean and new. Beds r super comfortable ++++ we were there for 1 night before our flight, coming out of a 5 star in hurghada we didnot feel différence in bed comfort So thumb up for that! Wifi is ok breakfast is ok but of course for the price nothing more than bread and coffee. the amazing 1937 elevator that is used to go up to thé 4th floor is a muséum piece

Review 101:Bedsheet is not clean,no,it is dirty,exactly.

Review 102:Have helped book taxi to airport to take us to the hotel. Very near to Egypt museum with 10 mins walk.
