Reviews for Debden Guest House

Review 1:The building is fairly old and a bit tatty. Could use some updating (like nicer bathroom with bath and shower).

Review 2:Price was fair. Very clean. Included breakfast. Staff super nice.

Review 3:We were disappointed that the breakfast advertised as being included in the price on the website and the guest house sign in front of the property was not provided.

Review 4:It's a nice balance between price and location.

Review 5:There was no one there we had to just ring to get in and collect our own key and go to our room, The room was freezing and no instructions for heating. The room was dirty, the toilet seat was broken and didn't appear to be very clean. The beds were so cold because there had obviously been no heating in the room. There was no one there when we booked out we had to repeat the ringing to get in and return our key to the key cupboard. We have never been in a place like this and would certainly not go again.

Review 6:It was close to where we were visiting.

Review 7:Breakfast could of been served earlier. I thought 9am was quite late.

Review 8:Great host. The room was clean and had everything we needed for a good night sleep. We had parking as well which was great.

Review 9:The toilet flusher was not working properly, but we signaled the problem. So they surely took care of it for the next guests

Review 10:We were guided to our room by a door phone, an adventurous beginning of our stay! The room was space and clean. Big towels were provided. Next morning we met our hosts who served us a delicious English breakfast. On Uxbridgeroad (walking distance) we found a decent Indian restaurant.

Review 11:Microwave and fridge are communal... which I wasn't aware of. I might have just read the description wrong... wasn't an issue though, it's just outside the room :)

Review 12:Staff are lovely and friendly, breakfast was great. Had the family room and it was perfect for the 3 of us.

Review 13:The staff were really bad. On my last day, I asked for a new towel and the lady had refused to changed it for me. Furthermore, the bed sheets were never changed during my stay of 1 week!!! Also, they were never done properly. Like they didn't care. Oh they say that they have free WiFi! The wifi never worked even once during my stay.

Review 14:The rooms were unique. They make you feel like home.

Review 15:Would like to have had a later check out than 10am

Review 16:Stayed at the Debden on a trip to the Uk with a band and it was ideal for what we needed and only ten mins from the gig. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and we got a good breakfast that set us up for the day ahead.

Review 17:Noise of banging kitchen doors in morning. Shower cubicle and windows not clean. Blackened sealant. Window openings difficult to use.

Review 18:The beds are comfortable and sheets clean.

Review 19:the interior of the property needs a makeover . We had booked an en suite room for 3 nights but didn't get an en suite until the second night. No apology was made and no discount offered for the first night. One of the ladies on duty on the mornings was lovely however the other lady on duty the second morning was almost agressive. She shouted at us as we were going out on our second morning to leave our room keys behind as she seemed to think we were checking out. When we told her we still had one more night she rolled her eyes and walked away as if we were the ones in the wrong. Her attitude was terrible.

Review 20:Was very close to where we needed to be in a quiet residential area

Review 21:The dead rat just a few yards from the entrance door at the front. The discarded y fronts in the bush on the path to the entrance at the rear of our bedroom. Continual banging of doors.

Review 22:We were on the ground floor and there was a couple playing a guitar, singing til 10pm, in the room next door.

Review 23:Stayed here after a full day to Lego land, kids were shattered. Easy to find, not far away

Review 24:We had the family room (2adults &3children). I did not like the fact the micowave and fridge was outside our room in corridor instead of in bedroom. I found the bathroom (which was located upstairs) dirty and if anyone needed to use shower or toilet we went in pairs as the lock on the door was a bit dodgey

Review 25:The one member of staff we met at breakfast was pleasant and was happy to tell us about the local area when we enquired about windsor. The guest house was well located to drive to legoland which was the purpose of our trip.

Review 26:Noise in the morning, mostly due to other visitors not being considerate at breakfast time but only lasted a few minutes and not guest house fault

Review 27:No fuss, value for money. Peaceful and relaxing :) everything in room worked and shower was lovely.

Review 28:No host on site until breakfast, unsure where breakfast was going to be. room was like sleeping in an office just one chair for three of us, poor decor

Review 29:Good breakfast

Review 30:The large window had plastic blinds, but no curtains. So very bright light very early on a summer morning. When we checked in we did not meet anyone face to face, but was directed to our room via an intercom. The only staff we met was a very nice lady at breakfast. But out didn't create any problems for us.

Review 31:Very pleasant location, set back from the road. Plenty of car parking facility. Large and light well furnished room, even had a fridge and microwave. Good bathroom. Frequent bus service to Uxbridge centre and tube station from just outside the property. OK breakfast. Very helpful lady at breakfast time (our only face to face contact with the staff)

Review 32:No sound proofing at all. Heard TV stets in the evening and noise started at 5.30AM. No curtains in the room, only blinds. The blinds didn't keep the light out in the morning. No hand towels in the bathroom. Poor quality intercom meant staff couldn't hear my name when telling them I had a reservation. Never met a member of staff.

Review 33:Family room was spacious and clean. WIFI was fairly reliable and free. Not far from motorway exit.

Review 34:on arrival not met by a person but reception conducted by inter com on side of door. did not meet any one until following morning, again the time for breakfast was arranged by intercom.

Review 35:convenient location for the over night stay and car parking ok

Review 36:The beds were comfortable but very creaky. When toilets flushed in other rooms you could hear plumbing noises for about 5 minutes, plus walls are thin so you can hear people moving in other rooms. A little frustrating when late and trying to get to sleep, I guess it's luck of the draw who else is staying at the same time.

Review 37:Very cheap for London, clean, nice breakfast although was just presented with full english without being asked what we wanted. Although our room wasn't ready we were able to collect keys at midday which was a great help.

Review 38:Under the beds & behind cupboards etc had years of dust, nothing has ever been moved out to clean, there was beer bottle tops etc under beds. Cobwebs on lights & ceilings hanging down above our heads in bed & the ro stated microwave & fridge but it's shared in hallway & the shared toilet is upstairs. Noise on a morning from staff making breakfasts wake you up in family ro as it's next to kitchen. Kettle had to be put on floor which we had to guard with us having kids as there was 1 plug socket that it would reach but it was for the TV . Not good

Review 39:Not far from legoland

Review 40:There was no information in the room about the times of breakfast. I wanted to ask for a biscuit or a piece of toast for breakfast, but there was no one on the premises! I would like a refund for the breakfast that I paid for, but did not receive. If an early breakfast is not possible at least leave something in the fridge, a crispbread or a biscuit or a yogurt. The room was a little cold and only a small electric heater with a broken leg. Rather noisy, someone was jumping in the room above and I could hear people talking next door. Very uncomfortable bed the mattress was sunken in the middle like a hammock. The intercom at the door was impossible, the person who answered couldn't even understand my name or reservation and I couldn't understand the instructions for finding my room key or how to find the room.

Review 41:Nice large room, good light from a large bay window. Both a fridge and a microwave available, plus cutlery and plates, but no paper napkins. Nice clean sheets. Plenty of towels.

Review 42:Nothing really. Lock needs fixing on bathroom door.

Review 43:We enjoyed our stay and felt it was great value gor money. Situated well for Thorpe Park and Heathrow. We will use again.

Review 44:In the description it said the fridge and microwave was in the room. Other than that everything was great.

Review 45:Room was comfortable and clean. Set in a lovely quiet location. The use of a fridge and microwave also which helps.

Review 46:The room was long and narrow and unwelcoming. There was no one there when we arrived just a dismembered intercom set up. The room was cold when we arrived and then too hot in the evening. There were strange noises from the adjacent attic. The whole house was dingy and not clean. The beds were creaky and uncomfortable.

Review 47:Location was good for visiting family in Uxbridge

Review 48:There was nobody there to meet us for check in even though this had been discussed in a phone call prior to arrival. 1 of the 2 rooms we booked didn't have internal access through to the kitchen area of the house, had to walk around the building. NO BREAKFAST INCLUDED OR AVAILABLE AT ALL!!!!!

Review 49:Location

Review 50:It was all good.

Review 51:Great location from the hospital, easy to access apartment, clean comfortable room, nice bed, plenty of parking and great communication by the hosts. Great experience, thank you.

Review 52:I'm quite small, so the mattress was fine for me, but a larger person would have felt the springs The bathroom was ok, reasonably clean but not spotless On check in I got to speak to someone on intercom, then getting instructions on where to find my room key and directions to the room - it was fine, but unexpected to have to explore and rummage for my key...

Review 53:Good strong signal for the free wifi Good pillows/duvet Decent room Fridge/microwave/bowls available - good if like me you didn't have a breakfast option

Review 54:Wifi was so weak that I could not get access to my email Not hot water from the shower so had to used the hot water from the sink to wash myself

Review 55:Full English Breakfast Close to local restaurants/fast food Easy to find Close to Central London Information Pack in Hotel Room Quiet and Peaceful Good sized room

Review 56:Lack of service, expect to be spoken to via an intercom and never actually meet anyone. Cold, mouldy bathroom Noisy heaters Freezing shower

Review 57:Location was handy for a funeral I was attending

Review 58:The only slightly negative, the shower cubicle door needs attention and the whole cubicle could do with a bit of work.

Review 59:Excellent full English breakfast included in the price. Very helpful and friendly lady that owns the place. Great night sleep, bed very comfy.

Review 60:Lack of sink facility in the room. The shared bathroom (but i was aware it was shared prior to booking). Would have been nice if a towel was provided in the bathroom or a hand dryer.

Review 61:Its difficult to get a family room for 5, it was great the guest house could accomodate us. Nice clean room. Comfortable bed. I would reccommend.

Review 62:The lock on the shared bathroom does not lock so to have a shower you risk anyone walking in on you. The breakfast was on the small side.

Review 63:Staff were very pleasant and accommodated all of our needs. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable. Hotel room was very large and spacious for 5 us.

Review 64:Shower cubicle doors falling apart, shower just average.

Review 65:Good facilities; fridge, microwave, TV, kettle, tea & coffee. Good breakfast. Pleasant owner.

Review 66:Good location with friendly staff and very clean accommodation.

Review 67:Lack of chair

Review 68:None

Review 69:Quiet place

Review 70:Shower tray filled and didnt drain away easily. Smelled a little of fried food but overall it was fine.

Review 71:Friendly and great breakfast. Clean and basic.

Review 72:Sound insulation is poor, however no noisiness at night.

Review 73:Good location for car commuters, private off street parking, quite place.

Review 74:Beds could be better

Review 75:1. Shower 2. No watch & ward arrangements

Review 76:Nearer to the Brunel University & easy approach

Review 77:Bed was a little hard for my opinion.

Review 78:Its was a comfortable staff.

Review 79:Nothing

Review 80:Location is perfect Close to hospital and major roads

Review 81:Nice place we loved it. Coming back

Review 82:Breakfast was good. But did not cater for gluten free.

Review 83:Clean room, comfy beds, good hot shower. Good parking.

Review 84:No soap or toothpaste in bathrooms and breakfast not included.

Review 85:Comfortable and clean

Review 86:Great price, staff couldn't do enough,

Review 87:Everything about the guest house was fine.

Review 88:The place was very clean and tidy ..lots of privacy and no disturbance very relaxing.

Review 89:Very quiet location.Good parking facilities.

Review 90:staff shortage

Review 91:Bed mattress totally warn out.

Review 92:no wifi, weak central heating

Review 93:location

Review 94:Nothing!

Review 95:Really comfortable guest house

Review 96:No bar area but was a guest house

Review 97:Good location in residential area. Friendly with home comforts and recommend as an alternative to hotel

Review 98:Microwave and fridge not clean on my arrival.

Review 99:The room was serviced during my stay. Good internet connection.

Review 100:all is good

Review 101:location near work place

Review 102:Could do with some re-decorating, wallpaper pealing.

Review 103:Easy to find. Good parking. Nice breakfast. Quiet area.

Review 104:Not be greeted personally by host , shared bathroom door did not lock

Review 105:Comfy beds, good breakfast

Review 106:nice comfortable B&B good value for money

Review 107:no lounge or comfort no staff on site

Review 108:location price condition breakfast

Review 109:A lot of noise at night. Poor breakfast and dining facilities.

Review 110:Large well equipped bedroom.

Review 111:Not actually seeing any member of staff apart from breakfast time.

Review 112:Lovely location, quiet environment, comfortable room.

Review 113:Duvet was too small for bed! Just reached either side of the bed but meant was too small with people sleeping under it. Was noisy- could hear what was going on in everyone else's rooms and in corridors. Breakfast was fairly small.

Review 114:Clean room Spacious Good breakfast Easy to locate Easy to check in/out

Review 115:The room was in a rear annex - not a problem in itself, but there was a cumbersome procedure of locking a rear door, then going round from the rear garden to the front of the building, ringing a buzzer, then speaking into the intercom to gain admission for breakfast.

Review 116:Clean and comfortable room.Good value for money. Free on-site parking.Good frequent bus service to Uxbridge town centre and underground station.

Review 117:The appalling lack of cleanliness. The dust covered everything. The fridges and microwaves had awful food stuck everywhere. The toilet was blocked. The kettle wasn't to be used unless searching for an infection. When I pointed it out,the rooms were all in the same state.Never seen anything so dirty. It was just the way things are,no shame, nothing!

Review 118:Location and being in countryside like area.

Review 119:Despite booking en-suite it was not. Never saw a staff member. Bed had massive dip where base was broken. Smell of deep fat fryer. Had to call the number left as shared bathroom had no tissue paper, was told to go into an empty room and use that. Save your money don't book!

Review 120:Large towels

Review 121:Breakfast was nice was warm not hot but full English choice of tomatoes, black pudding, mushrooms would have been nice and to choose times was given 8 or 8.30 between 7-9 gives a wider scope for people just a thought.

Review 122:We liked the cozy rooms and good idea of plate and cutlery in room.a added extra bonus our room was ready at 10 o'clock in morning that was nice very friendly helpful people.

Review 123:Not the friendly welcome I like from a B&B - we were spoken to via an intercom at the door, told where the bathroom was and what time we'd like breakfast etc - didn't meet anyone til the following morning. One bathroom shared between 3 rooms - with young children having to wait for a loo whilst someone else is having a shower - not good!

Review 124:Lovely large family room with comfortable beds. Slept well! Use of fridge, microwave, hair dryer etc... all very handy. Nice breakfast and very friendly staff once met face to face!

Review 125:The heating system is very poor, the bed and mattress is terribly bad and I wonder why the guest house management don't change them. I was meant to sleep-in but decided to leave late at night because the bed and mattress is very very uncomfortable. Not good at all for the money paid.

Review 126:I was received in a welcoming way and I like the location of the guest house. It is really very private

Review 127:I had stayed at the travellodge the night before but they didn't have twin beds and I was travelling with my brother so it was great to have a twin room and the digs were very comfortable.

Review 128:Owner not initially present and entry intercom didn't work.

Review 129:The house, garden, parking area and its' location. Owner friently and helpful. Good value.

Review 130:No wi-fi in our room, room to small for 2 people, mold in shower, no oneon premises, no phone, parking taken up by business next door.

Review 131:Nothing to like!

Review 132:Nothing too much to complain about..the bathroom showerhead may not have been super clean but obviously you can't expect too much from a b n b. Everything was good overall :)

Review 133:I really liked the staff :) They were really friendly and were so welcoming it was simply lovely to be around them. The breakfast was good too. Another point worth noting was the flexibility of the staff- because I had to leave for an early flight the following morning, the staff was more than happy to provide a whole box of cereal and a decent sized jug of milk for me in my room to accomdate my early schedule.

Review 134:Take a bit care about the equipment in rooms. In my case, an iron waswith some rust, unfortunately I realized it too late. )

Review 135:Not far from Brunel University, provides a good service for amoderate price. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast is serveddirectly in a common room of the main house. Quiet rooms (at least inthe inner yard).

Review 136:There were no mugs in the bathroom, and there was no hair dryer for my wife to use because of some stupid customers.

Review 137:The room and the idea of en suite in every room was good. The owner is joyfull and warm. We enjoyed our stay though it was a little expensive for us.

The Fine Print
