Reviews for St. Nicolas Bay Resort Hotel & Villas

Review 1:We loved the location by the beach, it was a very relaxing holiday. We have been before But at peak season last time, July, this time in October, it was cooler, but actually better. There were plenty of loungers, and tables .Staff were not as busy so were more attentive

Review 2:Nothing to dislike really. We booked half board which was as well as there are no cafés or restaurants within easy walking distance.

Review 3:Staff uniformly helpful, cheerful and efficient. Rooms spacious, clean and well equipped. Lovely location, lots of space.

Review 4:The staff need to be a lot more friendly.

Review 5:The resort is one of the best I've been to. Location , the beach and sea are amazing.we will return I'm sure

Review 6:This is a lovely hotel in a great location, with fantastic staff. It's easy to walk into Agios Nikolaos for drinks or dinner - it's got great shopping too - but the hotel itself has excellent restaurants, pools and a nice beach. The staff, in particular, are extremely good.

Review 7:The room was very simple and didn't cared for. I didn't like the quality of the bedding and the towels inside the rooms are very disappointed. The balcony was dirty and the outside furniture were dirty.

Review 8:I liked the beach area and the restaurants and bar.

Review 9:Pictures of the rooms type are different from the reality. On the website they provide the same nice pictures for all types of rooms, which is misleading and ruins expectation at arrival.

Review 10:We were here at honeymoon and complimentary package was the same as described; We also appreciated flexibility of the management; Food is very nice; Beach area is also very comfortable. Water sports and spa also available there.

Review 11:The dinner was not great. Not many alternative for food as the place is a bit isolated and the nearest restaurant/food place is a taxi ride or 30 and hour walk. so you end up only eating and drinking in the hotel which is quite pricy and this is in addition to A full board that I took. So add about at least 700 pounds more for a week for two people into consideration and this is if you are not a really boozer. This is an addition to taking taxis from the airport which cost about 200 pounds more . For a family is could be quite pricy.

Review 12:The private beach is amazing and the highlight of the place. The team is super friendly and go the extra mile to make you feel special. The place is brilliantly designed the rooms are specious and everything is organised with taste.

Review 13:Half board option not as good as it sounds as it only includes the busy, noisy buffet dinner. Dinner at the seafront restaurant is do much nicer - but not included in the half board option , just a 25% discount.

Review 14:Great staff, lovely pool, blissful air conditioned rooms, fantastic breakfasts!

Review 15:Very comfortable hotel with a civilised atmosphere. No rowdiness, drunkeness or shouting and screaming at the pool. A dignified atmosphere. Great for families with children upto about 10 - they all play happily together in the pool. Too boring for teenagers or young couples, I would have thought.

Review 16:The hotel is stunning and the staff is truly 5-star. We spent the last 2 days of our honeymoon here and they made a number of special efforts to make it an incredible trip. Very pricey but a worthwhile splurge.

Review 17:Only complaint is the room furniture was uncomfortable (except for the bed)...

Review 18:beautiful location, beautiful view, very friendly staff, felt very welcome, all our needs and expectations were met!

Review 19:We liked everything

Review 20:We enjoyed our holiday at St.Nicolas Bay from the very start to the end. All staff is very friendly, lovely atmosphere, comfortable room and all outside facilities. Attention to details. Good for water sport's lovers but also for a lazy break.

Review 21:Food is poor and half board is not worth it. Restaurant managerial staffin half board restaurant have no concept of what a 5 star dining mightlook like. Waiting staff are super.Rooms are NOT FIVE STAR. These are rooms which are basic. They range from a generous 2 star to four star. "We paid to have a deluxe room junior suite with sea view. We looked out onto a building. Noise pollution from above. This hotel has a five star setting but rooms are not five star. Basic and simple around a three or four star max. Bathroom has bath with overhead shower. You need to clean up after showering as bathroom floods. This is true of most rooms. There is no separate shower. Really a thing of the past and NOT 5 STAR. Service in Greek restaurant was VERY SLOW. To receive our first course we arrived at 8pm as was our reservation and were given our first course at 9.27pm!!! In half board we chose from the menu one evening and were served a fish fillet of perhaps 40g. Enough for a 5 year old. On mentioning it to the head staff, my wife was informed that if she wanted more she could just keep ordering plate after plate and they would supply more cutlery. The rudeness of this member of staff and his incompetence was disappointing to say the least. To apologise he brought her a glass of dessert wine ( she had not eaten) and should have known that all week she ordered water as she does not drink. VERY POOR SERVICE INDEED. NOT FIVE STAR.

Review 22:Excellent setting. Very pretty and everything on site. Staff are helpfuland kind, managerial staff over confident and arrogant.

Review 23:For the last 3 days, I had an upgrade to a suite. the food was plentiful and good, with a choice of 2 ala carte restaurants The location was fantastic and they had built a jetty to protect the beach in case of winds. There were ample sun beds and umbrellas.

Review 24:Absolutely nothing

Review 25:We thought when we booked the hotel it may be large and impersonal - quite to opposite. It has the feeling of a small boutique hotel. The food is delicious and we are foodies big time. It is pretty with a real feeling of Greece. Mr Nickos, the manager, is one of the sweetest most charming men I have met in my life. Caring genuinely for people from the gardener to the top. We hired a car and meant to move on from this hotel. We had one night in Plaka which was pleasant enough but came back to St nicolas bay. We would visit again. We went out of season in October. The weather was lovely and the price through booking.com was 69% off high season. So incredible value.

Review 26:???? Oh yes, the weather didn't behave for a couple of days. Can live with that.

Review 27:Its not very often that you enjoy a holiday resort hotel that is exceptional in every way...but The St Nicholas Bay Hotel is one of them!! The staff were brilliant and the food we had in whichever restaurant was first class. Superb choices and obviously a very good Chef overseeing things.

Review 28:The beach was a little disappointing but this was a minor issue. I'd go back.

Review 29:This is a large resort yet the rooms manage to provide guests with an atmosphere of seclusion. It has a grace and serenity about it that really enhance the stay. The hospitality staff really make an effort.

Review 30:Absolutely nothing!

Review 31:We were worried that with 4 pools and 4 restaurants this would be a big impersonal hotel but to the contrary. It has the feeling of a small boutique hotel. It is in a good area unlike Maila which is rough. It is a very pretty hotel with pleasing architecture and exquisite views. All the staff without exception are polite and attentive. The settings of the restaurants are romantic. The good is exceptional. We will definitely come back again. This is one of the loveliest hotels I have experienced. We had a very good deal. October 17th. Fabulous weather. Near spinalonga which is a fascination story.

Review 32:everything was great

Review 33:Everything! as a couple on our honeymoon we received so many complimentary gestures from the hotel staff and management and that really made our 2 nights there so amazing. The hotel manager took us to our room when we arrived, The spa is amazing the dinner at the Minotaur restaurant along with a Sax player playing jazz was romantic and amazing, defiantly an experience my wife and i will not forget.

Review 34:I stayed with my familly for five days and this place is perfect. It has everything in it you dont need to go outside. The rooms are good, the staff is amazing, the view is perfect and the facillity are the best.

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:The hotel sits on a bluff with beach access. It is absolutely beautiful. The staff is fantastic and very helpful. We arrived with 4 teenage girls and they loved the hotel. There are many different places to sunbath weather it is the pool, the sandy beach or the cliffs that surround the beach. The hotel rooms are very well decorated and very spacious. I would highly recommend the hotel.

Review 37:Service and food

Review 38:Amazing!!!

Review 39:Lunch included 2 small fishes from the grill with water and 1 glass of wine for 100€ is by my opinion too expensive.

Review 40:Wi-fi wasn't working in the room for the majority of stay

Review 41:Very friendly and helpful staff

Review 42:Great location, very clean, great staff. Need more sunbeds next to the sea

Review 43:The curtains do not block out the sun in the morning. No coffee or tea making facilities

Review 44:The staff were excellent and the location is wonderful.

Review 45:Food at the buffet restoraunt.

Review 46:The staff where very nice and polite. We felt like family.

Review 47:The dinner included , food was poor

Review 48:Nothing bad to mention.

Review 49:Beautiful grounds, nicely furnished restaurants, with great staff and service.

Review 50:We didn't like the flood in our bathroom

Review 51:We loved the views

Review 52:Great staff was very friendly and helpful. We noticed that even managers got in and helped which says a lot about them

Review 53:Wifi did never work after midnight

Review 54:sea view and nice, very clean rooms

Review 55:Nearby barking dogs

Review 56:Location

Review 57:No bad experiences, was fantastic!

Review 58:Fantastic food and the very friendly staff, along with the marvellous views from the resort.

Review 59:the thoughtful way it was laid out, unfussy but all top quality. Personal touch with the service.

Review 60:The staff were fantastic as was the location...

Review 61:We liked it all Aspcialy thanks to mr nikos A big man who did our vacation super good Thanks to all stuff Shlomi goldenberg

Review 62:Everything, particularly restaurant staff in all areas.

Review 63:Wifi coverage.

Review 64:Everything was great apart from the wifi which was patchy. The staff were absolutely excellent!

Review 65:The buffet dinner at night. Everything was cold when we got it whether it was served or we served ourselves. Also more choices needed.

Review 66:Everything

Review 67:In the end the cleaning crew was quite annoying.

Review 68:It was a wonderful week, especially the spa we enjoyed.

Review 69:Very overpriced generally, lunch without alcohol for two (just one course) was coming in at around 45/50 euros and then dinner with one glass of wine around 100 euros I was travelling with teenage son and we had booked two sea view rooms. Offered an upgrade to a 1000 euros a night suite (as advised to me by the general manager)with 2 beds and 2 baths but would have been extremely disappointed if I had paid that much - no sea view, my bedroom door wouldn't close, fridge not working - which took two requests to fix, no complimentary bottle of wine and cakes on arrival (as was confirmed in my booking), lots of cockroaches in suite and on balcony, no wifi in this particular suite - only on balcony Look out for hefty service charges on bills and a 'tips' section on every bill, which does not go to that particular member of staff but gets put in the pot

Review 70:Staff were very kind and helpful generally, particularly some of the younger pool and beach waiting staff A lovely resort and well maintained grounds Watersports facilities are great but I think expensive at 50 euros for 15 mins of jet skiing Spa facilities are good Beach cocktail bar (open on evenings) service was excellent Nice walk into town (or 6 euros in a taxi)

Review 71:Our holiday here was absolutely wonderful, we were really impressed by the beautiful views and picturesque location. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were lovely. We highly recommend this resort!

Review 72:Amazing experience of staying in this hotel. It was fully booked for that period but it did'n felt like this, the hotel is well desinged to avoid crowds. Rooms are excellent.

Review 73:Everything, the diner, the breakfast, the location, the comfort .... but especially the kindness of the staff who did really everything what was possible to help my mother while she had a small problem with her leg. Thank you again for that !

Review 74:Half the staff was sick, coughing and sneezing over food, then touching plates and cuttelery. Needless to say, we both caught the worst flu ever 48h later.

Review 75:Lack of safety equipment around the water. A few life rings would be sensible.

Review 76:A stunning location All the staff were excellent, very polite and helpful.

Review 77:Staff didn't fullfill our wishes and we felt ignored by the management. when it came to missing room items or seating requests for dinner. Loud music on Friday until 10.30 made it an unfriendly environment for children and a not peaseful rest (as we expected). Spa and gym was poor and was hugely overpriced.

Review 78:The sea view and environment was very tranquel and quiet, Food and breakfast buffet was varied and always excellent, everything was very clean. Room service staff went the extra mile and were very friendly.

Review 79:We were happy with all aspects of our stay.

Review 80:The beautiful environment and quiet yet convenient location. Spacious, sunny room with balcony overlooking gardens and sea. Helpful, friendly staff. Excellent food .

Review 81:The location was 70 kilomiters from the airport so only the taxi cost us like extra day at the hotel Slow Wifi

Review 82:Amazing view, great facilities in the Spa & beach, great food & cocktails, best personal service you can get Great value for money

Review 83:The wifi coverage was poor and the alcohol was somewhat over priced

Review 84:Our villa was very very comfortable with a beautiful view combined with privacy which made our stay extremely relaxed. Staff was very friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Review 85:Tea / Coffee making facilities in rooms would be appreciated. Fresh bottled drinking water repenished in room each day would also be appreciated. Apart from that, a great hotel!

Review 86:The Hotel is very well run, friendly and very comfortable. So good we will be booking again next year..

Review 87:It's not a problem really, but maids could be more attentive to the order guests prefer theirs thing to be arranged

Review 88:Really great hotel. Nice stuff, superb location, great food, wonderful sea view from our suite

Review 89:It was the second time that I stayed in this wonderful hotel, and, again, I felt very happy there. This time a shared a bungalow-style 'house' (two bedrooms, two bathrooms, lounge, terrace and good-sized private pool) right by the sea and it was wonderful to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves. The staff was, as always, very friendly and helpful and so was the delightful manager of this luxury hotel. He greets every arriving guest personally and shows them to their room. I met some travellers I knew from last year, and it felt like coming home, and I made great new friends. Interesting people go to this resort. Some of the restaurants in Agios Nikolaos are fantastic, and Elounda is not far away either. I had a great time and a beautiful experience and I'm looking forward to my next stay.

Review 90:The food was good but not 5 star standard and the wine was over-priced

Review 91:It is a beautiful hotel, with superb decor in the public areas and cleverly landscaped pool, gardens and sun terraces. Our room was very comfortable with a beautiful view from the balcony. The service was friendly and efficient. It was not too busy and most relaxing.

Review 92:For 1700 eur per night I would expect more space and privacy. Two bedrooms, small livingroom, small pool and terace, where neighbours from at least 4 appartments can see what you do, definitely do not match the price.

Review 93:All the staff are very professional, efficient and anticipate your every need. The restaurants have a perfect choice of excellent food and first class service. Christopher, the maitre d'hotel, runs the restaurants with an eye for every detail – all the time. The hotel is close enough to Agios Nikolaos to get there for an evening out, in five minutes, yet far enough away to be far from the madding crowd.

Review 94:Cleaning of the room is not so good as I can wait. One made find good to put my clothes in another place, and make and order with all my things, but didn't wash the floor.

Review 95:Beautiful place. Really great breakfast and restaurants.

Review 96:Leaving it... we didnt want to leave !!!

Review 97:We liked everything about this hotel from the begining. the staff were so welcoming and professional during the whole stay. the hotel is REALY amazing by its architecture, Design, and location on this beutiful private bay with its turquise clear water. The warm and professional staff realy made this vacation complete. Defenetly we would sugest every one who goes to crete to stay in this resort.

Review 98:The hotel is beautiful, comfortable, and the service is impeccable. Wehad a really nice time there. The extras, such as watersports andspa/massages are on the pricey side but the quality is excellent.

Review 99:The prices we quite high with children's meals all being over 10 euros. And they could do with a snack menu as again the food was all quite big and expensive. Although all being good quality.

Review 100:The hotel was really clean and beautifully presented. The staff could not have been more helpful and all loved children.

Review 103:The rooms are not as they appear in the pictures. We were apparently upgraded to a junior suite from a classic room, which just looked like a classic room with a very small balcony. Maintenance of rooms is lacking. For example, bathroom occasionally floods, gap in the door leading from outside into the room allowed Mosquitos to enter and because the air con system seemed weak at night, we got bitten while asleep (our biggest gripe). The price paid is definitely not reflected in the standard of the rooms. Although some things were priced reasonably e.g coffee to your room, lunch. others were just ridiculous e.g Drinks at the bar, water, water sports, coffee at the end of your meal in the buffet restaurant when on half board!!

Review 104:Excellent location (this is what you are paying for) You can easily move sun beds during the day to different spots around the hotel. Beach, on the rocks overlooking the sea, around the pool. Great breakfast and breakfast area Friendly and warm staff Better than expected evening buffet Food quality in some of the al a carte restaurants Nice little beach

Review 105:nothing, it was all perfect

Review 106:fantastic! Very beautiful resort, attention to detail, very tasteful decoration in our villa. Loved the sea water pool, so much nicer than the stink of chlorine. The beds and pillows were some of the most comfortable i've experienced in a hotel. We had dinner at Kafeneion, the setting was beautiful, the food tasty, and the staff very helpful and charming. The gym was well equipped, the spa looked great (no time to try it), all areas of the resort were lovely, and the breakfast was sumptuous. We are definitely going to be back :)

Review 107:For a resort of this kind... Internet must always work, and do so well,in the room; this it did not, never. The cable tv should do likewise; break downs and poor signal were commonplace. Likewise, showers are to be made such as to allow bathromms to remain dry; not here. In bathrooms, the "Bidet", and the electricity outlet MUST both work. Room lighting must be central: the key pocket by the door SHOULD act as general phase, and removal of the key should switch off ALL and ANY appliances/lights: a walk about the large room was necessary, in alternative to resignation. The room's finish had an asssembled look, much of the solutions appeared to have been "concocted" on the spot: a makeover with little funding? Not good for over 600 E per night The floor at poolside, in the suite, was inadecuate: a rough stone base pave (great for driveways), largely responsible for the deterioration of chairs and loungers (which would dance and wobble, preventing much of the expected comfort) in the private terrace. The check in was inadecuate, at such prices, someone other than yourself MUST take your documents, fill in whatever forms be of requirement, and return you your credentials AT your room: I have been unabashedly required to do the papers myself and only then have been escorted to the room. The breakfast table was good, no mistale about it, but somewhat monotonous (I have stayed 7 nights). A bit overpriced, unlike Blue Bay Palace at Plaka (Elounta), and in need of some attention.

Review 108:The private pool was rather private albeit affording a reasonable seaview; the pool was of respectable dimensions also. The service was helpful and willing. A complimentary expresso machine, dayly water bottle, chocolate treat, internet and cable tv in the room (but see below for the latter two) were nice. The "Bonaccia" seaside bar was good. The barman was GOOD, fast, accurate, and impeccably smart. Prices were appropriate (perhaps only here and at Kafenion restaurant). If you do go, try "Greek Elixir". Kafenion restaurant was good, perhaps a scant menu, but everything was perfect and plentiful; the very place was more than just satisfactory. I may have not used much but the reflexology treatment and reichi-inspired treatment acquired at Poseidon spa were exactly what I had needed. GOOD therapist. The place is suitably SILENT, and placed so as to allow only the sea to be heard constantly (mine was room 404, private pool suite).

Review 109:The staff was very friendly! The variety in the menu could be better, but the breakfast was splendid. We had a very nice time. A great place to relax!

Review 110:Excellent service, and very helpful staff. Full amenities with no needto leave the resort unless you wish to explore the area. 3 minutes fromAg. Nikolaos center by car, and 10 minutes from Elouda.

Review 111:Availability of restaurant, we couldn't book at the Greek.Air conditioning unit not sufficant for size of room.

Review 112:Very nice set up and location. Really good food.

Review 113:poor service by the pool. There are no lifeguards on the beach. Very cold water in the pool. A lot of insects. Monotonous breakfasts.

Review 114:good service, a special thank you to the hotel administrator, a magnificent prem and meeting guests.

Review 115:Architecture and outside facilities

Review 116:Dinner could have been better.

Review 117:Wow !!! Every thing.

Review 118:Accomadation probably not 5 star

Review 119:Lovely beach bathing area

Review 120:Very friendly and accommodating staff in a beautiful location.

Review 121:everything was perfect and excellent but extremely comfortable! it was a beautiful full-senses holydays experience!
