Reviews for The Woolly Sheep Inn

Review 1:Ate in restaurant on first night. Very disappointing and very expensive - didn't eat there again. Although complained about poor quality steak, management obviously decided it wasn't worth their while following up.

Review 2:Centrally located with comfortable rooms and good service. Breakfast was good and the pub serves excellent ale with efficient, pleasant staff even when busy.

Review 3:Friendly staff, comfortable bed and lots of hot water - walk into this hotel and it's immediately warm and welcoming, who would think that behind the narrow frontage is a tardis of a hotel - will definitely stay again

Review 4:Fire alarm went off at 5.30 am.staff very apologetic, only happen once before in six years.

Review 5:Nice little touches like toothpaste brush, shaving items etc just in case we forgot.

Review 6:It was quiet noisy as the room was at the back of the car park. We could hear bins being emptied and the boiler kept firing up.

Review 7:Room was lovely. Breakfast was very nice.

Review 8:Both our breakfast orders incorrect, beans cold, no standard type tea bags available in self service and breakfast itself average. In defence of staff it was New Years Day morning and we were last in for breakfast 10 mins before deadline.

Review 9:Almost everything very good. All Staff very polite and attentive.

Review 10:Nothing

Review 11:Everything. The whole experience was fantastic. The meal we had was first class. Would recommend to anyone and hopefully we will be making a return visit.

Review 12:Eat first night.. Had lovely roast dinner advertised with lashing of gravy.. We requested the lashing of gravy.. Which we got... And were then charged 50p for!!! How greedy is that.. Needless to say we ate somewhere else next night.. It wasn't the 50p it's that I can't stand greed. Plus alot of the individual cerel boxes in the morning are out of date.

Review 13:Lovely staff... Good food.. Good room which was spotless..Nice beer garden at back.

Review 14:Our room must have been directly above the speakers in the bar.....very noisy.....but hey ho it was Xmas!

Review 15:Location and all the little extras. Breakfast was good too.

Review 16:Waiting staff in restaurant could have been more helpful

Review 17:Good selection of drinks, food excellent, bar staff very helpful and friendly, parking on site was great

Review 18:As we were room 6 the noise from the bar could be heard the tv was small but most of all the security light above the exit door was annoying.

Review 19:Location, car park facilities, beer selection, real fire, Parma ham and scallops and nice view

Review 20:Thank you for our stay in Room 1. Everything exactly as required. Staff extremely helpful. A very enjoyable stay. Car parking also much appreciated !

Review 21:If I had wanted/needed to sleep early it could be a problem as my room immediately over the bar and has shared wall with open stairs to the bar so the beat of 'background' music and laughter was readily heard up to about 1:00am on Friday and Saturday: not an issue for me as I turn in latish..... other rooms wouldn't have had as much, through there location, I'd guess

Review 22:Though a small single room, comfortable and clean. Despite the poor weather the Freeview TV reception was good throughout my stay: having secured car park a real bonus too! Breakfasts freshly cooked and piping hot.

Review 23:No hot water in the morning so unable to shower, although they did attempt to fix this promptly - just not quite promptly enough.

Review 24:The rooms and facilities.

Review 25:Nothing at all x

Review 26:We loved everything about our stay... the rooms were beautiful...the beds were comfortable...the food was lovely...the staff were very helpful x

Review 27:Reluctant to give us a table to eat at 7.30pm. Some of the meal was cold. Just average full english, had better. Coffee in a bag at breakfast was truly awful.

Review 28:The pub is great. Got that 'country' charm about it. Real fires, cozy seats and great real ale. We had a superior suite. Whereas a bit too expensive they were quality rooms.

Review 29:Rhe reception we got by the staff. The room was beautiful. The amount of refreshments in the room. The friendly staff. Amazing. Can't wait to book in again

Review 30:I found the bed too hard, I could hear our neighbors using their toilet, there was a constant droning sound, all day and night, the bacon and sausage were hard, over cooked, also dumplings were hard and fish batter nearly broke my tooth.

Review 31:The Landlord room was well furnished and clean. Staff members helpful.

Review 32:Ordered thick cut gammon steak, came out bacon steak and not fully cooked. Had to wait over 3/4 hr for another one. Breakfast not good would not visit again

Review 33:Timothy Taylor beer excellent

Review 34:Noisy on main road, room very hot and unable to open window due to noise. Tea and coffee poor at breakfast.

Review 35:Excellent location in Skipton, lovely pub, good breakfast food, staff friendly.

Review 36:Shower a bit cramped for my 6'1 husband!

Review 37:Very central location. Lovely breakfast. Secure free parking. Nice complimentary toiletries and plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits which was nice touch.

Review 38:The location is fantastic it is central without having to drive in centre. The carpark is as secure as you can get.The hotel has loads of character.Breakfast is done with local produce

Review 39:Location was excellent, in the heart of the town, room was very clean and tastefully decorated. Food was excellent. Log fire in the bar, warm and relaxing atmosphere.

Review 40:Lovely pub with great character in the centre of Skipton. The pub has a great selection of real ales and a good wine list. We didn't eat there as relatives had booked an alternative restaurant but the food looked great. There was a lovely covered, heated outside courtyard too. The rooms were well appointed and clean and the bed was very comfortable. An excellent place in a great location

Review 41:The location to the town and the National Park, the pub had plenty of atmosphere, the choice of drinks was good and the food was good value. The bedrooms were upto date, clean and tidy

Review 42:Wifi very poor in annex, (didn't get any signal for entire stay), had to walk through smoking area to get to restaurant. Beer deliveries and refuse collections early in the morning

Review 43:new rooms, albeit overlooking a floodlit car park.

Review 44:Lovely friendly atmosphere, comfortable and warm, felt very much like home . We would very much recommend the Woolly Sheep to friends and family as it was to us. Cannot wait to come again, which we will do soon.

Review 45:Had a stew for Evening meal was extremely salty. Told a staff member as I couldn't eat it. That was the last I heard of that.

Review 46:Room was very nice, clean, and some some lovely extra touches.

Review 47:I booked a room for 80 quid but when I checked in they wanted 105 (25 pounds extra) for my wife. Seems a little excessive. The duty manager was frankly disinterested and unhelpful when I questioned the extra charge. There are no phones in the room and no information as to what if any services offered (internet etc). Fancy hotel prices for what is just a B&B. My experience of the service was not impressive.

Review 48:Location good and room comfortable.

Review 49:All good but more than a couple of days could become expensive.

Review 50:Excellent place to stay for a nice break away from it all. The room was lovely and the food excellent. The snug in the bar was really cosy.

Review 51:poor wi fi connection in annex. quite noisy in morning with bin men and deliveries and having to walk through smoking area to get into pub every time.

Review 52:clean and tidy, new rooms in annex.

Review 53:Not much. The drayman started their delivery at about 7:15. We were awake anyway.

Review 54:Excellent friendly staff. Comfortable room. Very good evening meal from wide choice of pub grub food. Superb "Landlord" bitter in the bar.

Review 55:No negatives this is the 3rd time we have stayed at the Woolly Sheep

Review 56:It is central to the main shopping street. The bedrooms are small but spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly. One of the main plusses is that it has free parking at the rear with a barrier so can only be used for patrons using the inn.

Review 57:Evening meal was average only but the breakfast was good.

Review 58:Great position in centre of Skipton. The room was large & comfortable. Secure free parking behind the hotel. Lovely old pub with good beer.

Review 59:Fantastic place to stay. Central to everything. Safe parking especially as we were on motorbikes. The team at the Woolly sheep very helpful throughout our stay.

Review 60:No real problems whatsoever, although could not get the Internet to work at all, even with the password & code. Wouldn't want to pay much more for the room though.

Review 61:Excellent room, recently completed, (Landlord). Great staff, all very friendly. Lovely food & excellent beer of course (Landlord). Location & car parking great.

Review 62:Our room was straight above the bar so it was very noisy until close to 1 a.m. -- we were warned for it, so it was bearable but I think this room deserves a discount. And if you don't like loud music and loud voices then don't go here on a Saturday evening. Otherwise very nice place.

Review 63:Location right in the middle of Skipton. Nice room and friendly staff. Pretty good breakfast.

Review 64:Literally the only thing I can comment on is the lack of plug sockets in the bedroom, just one in an odd place by the door, but that's just me being picky!

Review 65:The location was fantastic, right in the centre of Skipton, with a huge bonus of dedicated off street parking. We stayed in Room 1, it was spotlessly clean, very comfortable with great little freebies, not just the usual tea & coffee. We ate lunch in the pub and it was delicious and the staff were very friendly.

Review 66:Nothing it was all fabulous

Review 67:From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were friendly, approachable and nothing was too much trouble. The meals at the Woolly Sheep were fantastic, freshly cooked and not the usual type of "pub grub" more restaurant!! The room was more than adequate, well equipped and there was even an ironing board and iron stowed away on the landing if needed.

Review 68:Free beer tokens in room to be used at the bar, but where put on the the bill. Removed after complaining. Wine expensive !!

Review 69:Good beer and good location

Review 70:Dinner in restaurant was mediocre, room was so small it was claustrophic, mattress and pillows were extremely uncomfortable.

Review 71:The olde worlde atmosphere was good, as was the location.

Review 72:The only bad thing was the lack of wifi in our room it's self.. I don't think it had the reach.

Review 73:The staff, accommodation, location and food were all excellent. Awesome place to be!

Review 74:All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Cosy bar and attractive restaurant. Excellent breakfast. The sun shone! So many extra little touches in bedrooms.

Review 75:Gorgeous oldy worldly pub! Great atmosphere & Great Staff! Breakfast was Fantastic! Can understand why you put the earplugs in the room, but after a night out at a wedding do, & a Few Drinks we were Out like a light! Thanks for a Fab stay! Xx

Review 76:Service at breakfast was a touch below expectations. Firstly there weren't any tea cups available, then there weren't any small plates for toast and then no butter! But the food itself was lovely!

Review 77:The hotel is in a great centre of town location being convenient for local tourist attractions like Skipton Castle and boat trips along the canal. Skipton also makes a good base for touring further afield onto the Dales, Pennine Way etc. The beer in the bar is excellent as well as the food, and the staff were very friendly. The hotel as it's own car park which is always a bonus.

Review 78:Our room, closest to the bar, there was a notice in our room to say if light sleeper music on an evening you may hear it. It felt like there was a rock concert in our bedroom. No sleep until music stopped at 1 am. I am not a party pooper but did not make me feel relaxed, but this is my only fault.

Review 79:Location snd lovely traditiinal pub with great outdoor seating area. very central, great selection of traditional beers. friendly staff.

Review 80:Not a complaint but could do with some info on the website on how to find the car park. It is free though :)

Review 81:Very friendly and comfortable, outstanding beers and very good food, especially breakfast.

Review 82:Inconsistent food quality. We enjoyed our evening meal so much the first evening, that we ordered exactly the same the second evening. Had we received the second evenings offering first, we would have eaten out on the second night. I've been looking at visiting the woolley sheep for some time. Would I return? Probably not.

Review 83:Although small, the room was comfortable and clean.

Review 84:Great for a short break, we stayed for one night to celebrate our anniversary. Fab, clean room, not stingy on the tea and coffee things like some places. we had a meal there which was fantastic, varied menu with range of prices to fit any pocket.

Review 85:Lovely old pub in a central position. Looks very small from the outside but extends to the rear with a large character dining room and a very pleasant terrace with heating. The staff are friendly and helpful. We would certainly make a return visit.

Review 86:This was a gift booked for the 2 of us . Our room was superb, and our bed gave us both a peaceful nights sleep. The staff could not have been more helpful and given any better service. We had our evening meal at the Woolly Sheep ,the meal was beautiful everything was cooked to perfection. The next morning we ate our full english breakfast and that was excellent , A fabulous gift and very memorable stay ,THANKYOU ,WE WILL BE BACK .

Review 87:I couldn't find any free Wi-Fi. It's a little noisy in the evening until after the pub closes (1am on Friday and Saturday!). But this didn't really spoil my stay.

Review 88:It was very convenient for the town centre. The staff were very friendly.

Review 89:I felt the evening meal was a little overpriced.I paid 11.50 for a vegetarian meal which was essentially only lentils and vegetables.

Review 90:Very friendly and helpful staff. Room clean and comfortable.

Review 91:Someone used the disabled parking space with no blue badge displayed causing the disabled guest to struggle in a small parking space.

Review 92:The room and its facilities. Very friendly staff.

Review 93:We were on a cycling holiday and the fact that they had a secure bike storage building was excellent, they should add this to the facilities availalble (I had to emaill to enquire if availalbe). Breakfast excellent, good quality food, service.

Review 94:none

Review 95:Great staff nothing too much trouble , friendly and helpful. Excellent hotel and spotless clean , great Yorkshire breakfast and food in the restaurant excellent

Review 96:Friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms, nice selection of biscuits and coffee/tea. Huge full English - kept us going all day Food in restaurant good too

Review 97:Our only minus was the bar was open until 01:30hrs and even in the top front room, we could hear it. However, we were pre-warned and it was faint.

Review 98:Our gorgeously decorated room had the most sumptuous comfortable beds we have ever known in a hotel (we travel a lot) with great provisions right down to the Yorkshire teabags, good still and sparkling water bottles and sachets of squash for our children. The staff were very friendly & helpful – the chambermaid (if we can call her that!) was fantastic, funny & thoughtful too, asking us if there was anything we could take for our son for the journey home. Breakfast was equally impressive. We stay in Skipton a lot and this is the first time at the Woolly Sheep Inn – but not our last. We will always stay here in future.

Review 99:Bit pricey for what it is. The staff are really nice when you interact with them, the problem is the staff (in the restaraunt area specifically) are painfully slow at actually coming over to take your order. So if you have any other plans on for after you eat, it's no good.

Review 100:Friendly staff, nice rooms givem that they're small. Good parking although the token system is cumbersome.

Review 101:Nothing!

Review 102:Location, Staff (the cleaner was especially friendly and helpful), Cleanliness, Menu, Nothing bad to say. Music was played in the bar until late but we were provided with earplugs and the music was good!

Review 103:Booked into room6. Expected some noise as in a pub but did not get any sleep due to reveller till early hours. Would need to consider day of visit before I returned again

Review 104:Great location. Top notch cleanliness. Staff excellent and breakfast was lovely. Thought it was exceptional value for money and the little extras like toiletries included toothbrush paste razor shaving gel.

Review 105:Dinner not so good - quite expensive and my roast lamb had more fat and gristle than meat. We took visitors from overseas to stay here, hoping they would have a typical British pub experience but we were a bit disappointed. So much room given over to dining which meant the bar was overcrowded with uncomfortable and limited seating.

Review 106:Good breakfast. Room small but comfortable. Good value for B & B

Review 107:Room and ensure were a bit small for a double room. Front facing room directly above front bar door was noisy in the evening especially on Friday night.

Review 108:Timothy Taylor's beers, great staff, good food and fantastic car parking facilities. Great ovation close to all amenities.

Review 109:Room 3 at the rear was quite except something dripping all night outside. En-suite very small.

Review 110:Location is spot on, room very good and comfortable. A good selection for breakfast.

Review 111:Very nice, albeit small, room in the annexe. Obviously new and well equipped. The food was excellent particularly the breakfast. The beer also was very good

Review 112:We were there on a Saturday night and our room overlooked the covered patio. Unfortunately there were some very loud people there and they were shouting until at least 1 am.

Review 113:Lovely room decor, bed comfy but a little bit small. Good food. Safe parking

Review 114:Staff were friendly, our room was perfect - clean, comfortable and all the extras were fantastic i.e. toiletries, bottles of water, tea/coffee making facilities (with lots of milk and biscuits and sweeties) etc,

Review 115:Really friendly helpful staff, great amenities in brand new (built 2 month ago) room. Ample secure parking adjacent. Great shower and a double bed advertised that was a super king. Great hotel.

Review 116:Nothing at all.

Review 117:The room was pleasantly decorated, having a comfy bed and plenty of coffee and tea sachets. The view was over the Market Square, which was lively and bustling. Breakfast was delicious and with a good choice. We had dinner which was beautifully served and cooked. A very enjoyable stay and we will definitely be returning!

Review 118:Meals was good. But some had lots of veg on the same dish had hardly any they did put more on it though when pointed out , it would be better if veg served in a separate dish

Review 119:The location

Review 120:The room and bathroom were very small, felt like a single room with a double bed in. It was quite hot and if you opened the window it was noisy as it's in the middle of the town centre but they had put an electric fan in the room which helped.

Review 121:The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the outdoor heated area was great for sheltering from the rain, the food was amazing and loved the central location with on site parking. The bedroom was well furnished with the best tea tray I've ever seen that even included squash as well as the usual tea, coffee & hot chocolate - and there was loads of milk which was a welcome change. Would recommend it and would stay again.

Review 122:Room was cramped, hot and noisy - the earplugs that were supplied were needed! Get a room at the back if you can.

Review 123:Welcoming staff. Breakfast was good. Convenient location with car park.

Review 124:the internet was not very good couldn't get a signal in the room

Review 125:Lovely rooms and very clean, right in the heart of Skipton with lots going on we played golf at Skipton Golf course which is only a 5min drive away so very handy for golfers

Review 126:A number of steps to the family room if you find steps hard to manage....this was not a problem for us though.

Review 127:Friendly accommodating staff. Complimentary drink of beer. Excellent breakfast choice

Review 128:The room was small but comfortable. radio 1 (or whatever) blaring out throughout breakfast was a minor irritation which management should do something about

Review 129:Nice pub, very central with good food. The staff were very pleasant.

Review 130:After i found the Car Park @ the rear of the Property & obtained a Token for the Barrier it was fine, it's a Pity it was not mentioned in the details when i Booked the Hotel.

Review 131:The Food & Service.
