Reviews for Grand Hotel La Batia
Review 1:Our first room had a broken shower, we got another room when we asked, this room was way bigger lighter and prettier. It would have been nicer if we had a nice room from the beginning. Pay attention if they give you room 303 :)
Review 2:Pool, staff, cocktails
Review 3:Mosquitoes. Soundproof quality of walls.
Review 4:Giuliano at the reception has been super helpful. Cleaning ladies were kind and helpful when we hoped the room cleaned without disturbing the sleeping child.
Review 5:When we booked we requested for a family room (2+1) with a small bed for our 10months son,and at the check out the staff told us we had to pay €10 per night for the small bed (€20 tot). After that we also had to check the bill because it seemed to hight, and in fact they charged €13 extra by mistake.
Review 6:Nice pool and very large room.
Review 7:The hotel is great - very stylish and clean, in a very good location, with parking. Rooms are fine, very good looking. The best part is a swimmingpool with a view. I will highly recomend this hotel and for sure I will come back. Not to mention the very friendly staff there, and a good breakfast :)
Review 8:We've got nothing for money payd. Very noysily place - next to hotel is crowdy road. No working WiFi, else TV. Our room was practically unfurnished - no place to sit, nowhere to hang clothes. The breakfast was the same every day, the food looks not fresh.
Review 9:I escaped from this place, finaly
Review 10:we booked half board but there is no restaurant in the hotel instead it operates by a system of vouchers for local restaurants, which is fine when its next door but less fine when its a mile or so away and you are given poor directions. Wifi was dreadful even in the foyer, impossible in the room.
Review 11:Spacious room nice pool . Food at the restaurant next door was exceptional. Good value overall
Review 12:locked doors to the bar and pool deck, needed to ask daily for them to be unlocked. Front door locked on one occasion. Unable to exit hotel until key card reader found on wall. Dangerous if you were caught in a fire without your door key. No facility to get a drink through the day, bar not open and no drink facility in rooms
Review 13:Nice hotel clean
Review 14:The bathroom was too small for a family of 4 and needs an upgrade. The breakfast was poor (omelette and sunny-side-up eggs on the buffet were cold). Room heating wasn't working properly (heaters stayed on regardless of the thermostat setting). The breakfast area was very cold during our stay (April).
Review 15:The WiFi was good. The room was quite large. The price was reasonable. The decoration/artwork in the public areas is nice.
Review 16:- great place if you travel by car, otherwise it's quite far from city center and near busy road.
Review 17:- restaurant in the hotel - traditional Sicilian cuisine, their pasta and almond halava-like ice cream was delicious - friendly and helpful staff - big, cozy room (and pretty, if you like vintage-rural decor) - the best breakfast we've had in Sicily! (large selection of cheese, fruits, pastries, etc) - spacious parking area
Review 18:Staff was kind but only the owner was on duty at reception. Breakfast was poor, not at 4 star level. Wifi was a pain. Panorama around is not nice, unfortunately. Maybe it is better during summertime
Review 19:Room design is interesting, good value for money. Good to visit Alcamo.
Review 20:The surrounding patios are dirty and ill-kept. The outdoor furniture needs paint. The furniture in the bedroom was marred and stained. The shower area needs re-tiling and the grout was disgusting. The fridge was empty. The walls need paint. The wall was damaged from the room's main door opening...big hole in the wall with stucco falling out...no repair. The air conditioning was required because it was so hot, but it made so much noise one could not sleep. The windows were not screened, so this was not an option to stay cool either. No bedside table or lamp beside the second bed, so impossible to read or turn on a light to head to the bathroom in the night. The internet connection could not be maintained...we needed to log in again and again. The extra pillows in the closet did not have pillow covers. We had to leave early for a flight the next morning, and the reception had said there would be a night attendant on duty who could open the locked front door to let us out. Nobody on duty, and we finally figured out we could open the front door with the room key-card. Thank goodness we had not left the card in our room or we would have been locked in and missed our flight. Don't go near this place. It was a lousy end to an otherwise great trip in Sicily.
Review 21:I cannot think of anything I did like. After 5 really excellent accommodations based on booking.com recommendations and reviews, this establishment came as a shock. The only think I liked was getting out of there.
Review 22:We hated the noise that the room door does when you open it with your card. It sounded like in a prison! Especially in the evening, when you're trying to fall asleep and other hotel guests are trying to get into their rooms... "bzzzzzzzz.." Also we're VERY upset that there was no gym or spa, even tho on booking it says the hotel has those facilities.. that was actually our main reason for choosing this hotel as we wanted to have a quiet and relaxing stay combined with some morning and night trainings. We didn't hear neither about horse riding nor solarium... Also, don't get too excited about the sea view! And the beach is not just 10 min away. If you are going there, take some anti-mosquito spray. There is a lot of dead mosquitos marks all over the room, it would be nice if they paint the rooms from time to time, so next guests don't have to look at the marks on the walls. Of course the mosquitos themselves are not hotel's fault, but just something you should keep in mind if you're going there. Don't try to walk to the town! First of all it's not just as it says on the hotel profile "900 metres away" and there is no pavement. City is not that nice anyway. The hotel is way nicer, so better just stay in and chill by the pool :)
Review 23:We loved the hotel restaurant, the pool, our room, breakfast buffet, great coffee, friendly staff, cleanliness and quiet atmosphere. We were extremely surprised by the beautiful food served in the hotel restaurant! Also the staff and live music on Thursday night. Portions were massive and meals soooo good! Probably best food we had in Sicily!!!!
Review 24:Beautiful hotel with a lovely swimming pool and gorgeous views of the mountains and sea. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great selection for breakfast. We would recommend this hotel.
Review 25:Nothing we didn't like. Would recommend to anyone.
Review 26:Friendly staff, gorgeous artwork and décor, lovely pool and garden surrounds, fantastic restaurant, lovely large peaceful room with good aircon and stylish bathroom. Nearby Alcamo town has loads of atmosphere. Short drive to the beach even though you are high up.
Review 27:Draw backs are if there are lots of people round the pool it can get quite noisy. They insisted on playing the radio which i thought was unnecessary! Wifi is not the best but we managed. The rooms are not really soundproofed and I was woken a couple of times by our neighbours early morning ablutions - not the most charming of wake up calls!
Review 28:I travelled with my 21yr old son for a quick week away We adored this hotel - its charming interesting and unique. The staff were lovely and friendly - really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. When we arrived late at night and asked for more hangers at midnight they went and got them immediately. This became typical of the stay - nothing was too much trouble. We ate next door and the food was fab - full of locals and just delicious. You do need a car because there is so much to see and visit. Our room was perfect - large and spacious, clean and comfortable. We even had two bathrooms which was above expectation but made the stay even more relaxing. I would go back again - loved it!
Review 29:staff where busy with private party's, pool food was rushed at these times, not a location for a family with older children, car is required to be able to get about eg to the town or beach, fridge provided but no outside drinks or food allowed on health and safety grounds. with the heat and a young child very difficult to get hold of bar staff at times for drinks
Review 30:The staff where very helpful, rooms where cleaned everyday as was the pool, the food was fair, good place for a couple or young family looking for a pool holiday good restaurant next door to hotel, but you need to walk around the corner from main door and look for it but very good
Review 31:Breakfast options are limited. Wifi connection really poor, up and down every 5 minutes.
Review 32:Staff were really helpful and friendly, always ready to help. Hiring a car is best option to move around, Alcamo Marina, 15 minutes driving from hotel, has a nice sandy beach and perfect temperature for a bath. Castellammare del Golfo, 20 minutes drive, has plenty options to eat.
Review 33:The note itself is beautiful, the surroundings are those of the outskirts of a town , so not pretty but the location is perfect for many beauty spots and beaches, so it makes up for it. The service is excellent, the people so nice and helpful, they all go out of their way to help . Absolutely gorgeous. Will come back again !!
Review 34:I missed a Gym but I have to say that I found a very pacefull corner outside, near the breakfast area .
Review 35:I couldn't find a more friendly and professional staff ever. They are like your family while you are there looking after anything you can need. The Hotel, is amazing, great design, a good finished and details making you feel like part of Games of Thrones!! The restaurant is GREAT! and the sizes of the dishes massive!
Review 36:Outside... Around the pool was a bit rundown. Evening meal was ok, butthe menu was very simple and not very good value for money... When wewere there only appropriate prices were give for the food. Watch out forthe "the restaurant is run by others so we can not tell you whatthings cost " story !!.... At checkout we were a bit shocked tofind out that a 330ml local beer cost us 9 Euro!!!
Review 37:Friendly easygoing staff. Good breakfast. Our room was big enough andeverything worked. (Roo 304 and 305)
Review 38:The food needs to be improved. All 3 meal options were were very average in terms of taste. It was the only let down.
Review 39:Great looking hotel and great, accommodating staff.
Review 40:Truly beautiful hotel both inside and especially outside. Rich breakfast table. Polite and helpful staff.
Review 41:Nothing!
Review 42:Everything!
Review 43:clean hotel with friendly staffs, good food in the pizzeria
Review 44:Beautiful building and clean comfortable rooms. Good location to drive to sites - car required and definately recommended.
Review 45:Airco was broken. Relatively small room. Staff didn't make you feel very welcome. On a busy road without pavement; difficult to walk to the town
Review 46:Lots of art in an old monastery. Breakfast is OK. Nice pool.
Review 47:I would suggest to have shutel bus from marina side to hotel and back. This will make the hotel selection more attractive as marine and the charm area "La Batia" will be experinced
Review 48:Evry thing, people are so supportive and try to do their best to faciliate person trip. break fast is god, not to my expectation. I would suggest to have shutel bus from marina side to hotel and back. This will make the hotel selection more attractive as marine and the charm area "La Batia" will be experinced.
Review 49:No WiFi in room, no air-conditioning. Room was quite hot despite not hot weather. In hot weather it would be unacceptable.
Review 50:Staff very friendly, good places to relax outside
Review 51:The hotel offers great rooms and services for a good price. It is ideally located for both sea and city advantures. The adjecent restaurant has excellent food.
Review 52:The location is not so good, next to a busy road.
Review 53:Breakfast was the best I ever had, all fresh and original. We had a beautiful and very large room and staff was very helpfull and friendly.
Review 54:The double room we had was smaller than expected with little space to move around the room. But the design was unusual and interesting particularly the bathroom. The walking distance into Alcamo was about 900m as expected but the pavements were very narrow so not a pleasant walk along a fairly busy road. We didn't hire a car, deciding to use public transport but the buses to the beach weren't very frequent and could take a long time to get there. The buses were always on time however. Good bus service to Palermo.
Review 55:The design of the building, décor, pool and terrace. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent and the outdoor eating area lovely. A great restaurant attached to the hotel. Wide ranging value for money menu and friendly staff.
Review 56:Love the staff, very friendly and helpful. Love the deco and design of the room and hotel by itself. Love the swimming pool and restaurant closed to the hotel. I would definitely recommend this place!!!!
Review 57:Little to fault in terms of the hotel, we stayed 4 nights and our experience of Alcamo and the surrounding region was good. Worth exploring Monreale cathedral, the artwork reminds you of Hagia Sophia.
Review 58:This is the second time we stayed at La Batia, and it has definitely got better. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were excellent. The neighbouring restaurant, also called La Batia, is excellent too.
Review 59:Alcamo not ideal tourist destination... Not much to do.
Review 60:Staff really friendly and welcoming. Really helpful providing car hire amongst advice about local areas. Breakfast nice and good pool bar service.
Review 61:Located very closely to a road and industry area. Very noisy at nights. Does not comply with the standards of a 4 star hotel and the attribute "grand hotel" might be misleading. We canceled our stay after one night.
Review 62:Lovely staff and best 3 bed room we have ever stayed in with separate levels provided privacy for our adult daughter. Beautifully decorated rooms throughout good pool.Great restaurant next door.
Review 63:The fist room was on the third floor and very small and dark (303). however the moved us the next day without and issues
Review 64:The staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful, they could not have been better. Having a restaurant next to the hotel is useful and it is not expensive. the food is Ok if chosen properly. good location to get to the western side of Sicily as it is near the autostrada
Review 65:Some of the rooms significantly differ from what Hotel advertises inthe photos. Our room was small, very dark (one small windowoverlooking plastic roof) which was very disappointing, especiallyafter our futile attempts of changing it. Localization of the Hotelmight be also a disadvantage to some people, as walking on foot to thecity center (however close) is practically impossible and you reallyneed a car for that.
Review 66:Design. Very good breakfast. Good Parking space.
Review 67:Our room was too small to have space for a chair or bedside tables. Itwould have been useful to have information about bar facilities andrestaurant menu in the bedrooms.
Review 68:Staff were very helpful and it was convenient having the restaurantattached to the hotel as it was a little out of the centre.
Review 69:The pool was closed (April time), you needed the car to get to Alcamoto eat ...
Review 70:The hotel was nice and the room was big for 4 of us. Well refinishedinside the room and outside. The staff at breakfast was nice and thefood was good quality.
Review 71:the hotel is nice but lacked basic comforts which you might expect in a four star hotel. eg.showerhad no door so all the bathroom floor has a shower with you ,even the toilet basin! bathroom was small , we had no balcony and the window was very small ,not recommended for claustophobic persons, the room was also small , AC was out of order in all the hotel thangs god the weather was not too hot but we had to sleep with windows wide open.our room number was 403 do not know if all the rooms are the same!
Review 72:hotel staff were excellent, brekfast was very good and the common areas such as pool area breakfast room and gardens were lovely,
Review 73:We had a fair few mosquitoes in the room. Luckily the hotel staff was nice about it and gave us inspect spray. Alcomo is not a typical Sicilian town-very industrial. There are not many places to eat within walking distance so you definitely need a car if you dont want to eat at the hotel's restaurant. It is conveniently located if you want to be close to major highways for a fast exit the next morning. Breakfast was OK, but couldn't drink the coffee. My husband and I both thought the coffee tasted off dishwashing liquid. It might be that their machine leaves a residue. We reported this to the front desk but instead of saying they'll look into it, the response was: 'maybe you are not used to Italian coffee'. By then we were reaching the end of our 2 week stay in Italy (ave 2-3 cups of coffee a day) so I don't believe our uneducated taste buds were to blame. OK stay, but I wouldn't recommend. Also request a room on other than the 3rd floor. There is a gap in the wall between our room and the next room so you can hear their conversations (and see into their room).
Review 74:Nice bathrooms.
Review 75:View from front of hotel could be a lot more desirable Got probably the last room in the house and it showed in the fact that the room AD 19 I
Review 76:Very nice ambiance Good quality breakfast Very helpful lady on reception named Juisey?
Review 77:The location was very disappointing. The hotel appears to be in an industrial estate. From its architecture ( which is very nice) I had expected it to be in the countryside on the outskirts of the town. When we asked about restaurants in Alcamo we were told they all shut for the summer - sadly this was true. The pool was not as large as the photograph appeared to suggest. Consequentially I felt this was not good value for money
Review 78:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar food was very tasty and good value. The rooms and common areas were well furnished
Review 79:It's not that we didn't like, but we were just disappointed that the bar/terrace was under used. This was mainly down to lack of use, rather than La Batia not opening up. It would have been nice to have had a drink on the terrace at night but it was often closed and lacked atmosphere due to lack of use.
Review 80:The hotel was beautiful and very romantic. The pool area, gardens and small details of the hotel were all very special. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating.
Review 81:Location nearby main road, so lots of truck cars passing by. But in the rooms perfect quiet.
Review 82:Beautiful and clean rooms, designed with a lot of care and good taste. Good breakfast.
Review 83:Although the hotel is designed and decorated by an artist, you can see that they lack maintenance. The swimmingpool is not cleaned thoroughly and has a green edge already. The waterfall and fountains were not working anymore. If they keep up with this neglect the hotel will be in bad shape in no time. Although the bathroom is very nice, it is impossible to shower without making a swimmingpool of the floor.. And last but not least the rooms have thin walls! We also had a lot of noice from the restaurant when people left at midnight.
Review 84:La Batia is a beautifull restored building. It has nice design throughout the hotel and friendly staff. The breakfast was tipical Italian, not overloaded and very nice. The swimmingpool is ok too to relax. Also the restaurant next door is good quality for lunch and dinner! We had a room for 3 which was superb (304). A nice place to stay and to get to know the environment. Do visit Erice, lovely mediaeval village! Castellemare is ok for a beachday.
Review 85:The staff was very helpful and friendly. The swimming pool area was verynice and it was not too hot (the pool is on the hill). The restaurant atthe same building was a good place to eat good Italian food for a decentprice, always fully occupied. The hotel was not very close to the centerod Alcamo but on the way to beaches. The whole hotel is designed in agood modern style.
Review 86:la habitacion es pequena.
Review 87:Desde el hotel se pueden visitar varios lugares de interes, como Segesta, Palermo, Erice, etc. La piscina esta muy bien decorada, Personal muy amable.
Review 88:Our room did not have any windows. Or just a very small one at the entrance stairs. But apart from that, room was nice decorated with easy temperature control during hot summertime.
Review 89:Nice hotel with a good restaurant. If you have a car, location is ok. 10 minutes drive to the beach and easy access to main roads.
Review 90:This is not a 4 star hotel. It is a unique hotel, location is initiallydisappointing - but helpful staff and good service make up for theinitial disappointment in location and rooms.
Review 91:It was very good value for money - the staff were very friendly andhelpful, the breakfast was excellent for the price.
Review 92:We had booked a triple room and were initially offered one with amezzanine level which would have been dangerous for our toddler. TheGeneral Manager couldn't have been more accommodating when I raised theproblem and showed me a couple of other rooms to choose from. The service at the hotel was superb from all staff. And although a buffet breakfast, it was probably the nicest I've ever had at a hotel and included fresh coffee each day, as well as freshly baked rolls and fresh fruit salad. The pool was very cold but refreshing when it was hot. The cleanliness of the hotel was outstanding - really good value. I'd highly recommend it.
Review 93:You need a car to everything - nothing in walking distance
Review 94:Nice hotel with nice pool area og very friendly staff. Good view of the bay area. Very spacy rooms for a family of four. Good location for visiting both beaches and Palermo.
Review 95:This is a gorgeous hotel - the only problem for us was the location - you NEED to have a car if you dont want to be getting taxis everywere, and even when we went into alcamo we found it hard to find places to eat. but the staff were lovely and the pool is gorgeous - it would be ideal if the weather was nice (which we were a bit unfortunate with) The rooms were lovely and it was very clean.
Review 96:It wass difficult to find the hotel when we arrive on the first night. When you exit A29 to P55 turn left to alcamo. Then turn left on S113 .Then turn right on the first exit ,after 100 meters you will see the hotel on your right.
Review 97:We had a wonderfull stay in the hotel. The stuf were very kind and helpfull,in the reception and in the dining room . The breakfast was very good. The parking is free with a lot places. Don't miss the ice cream at bar 900 in corso 6 aprile105 in alcamo.
Review 98:Hotel personnel is very friendly. Brekfast is excellent. Fresh fruitsalad was very refreshing. We were impressed with bathroom design, verynice decoration. Highly recommended :).
Review 99:Just like most of Sicily, if you overlook the trash and industrial buildings it is really beautiful. The views to the water and Vito de Capo were fabulous. Restaurant closed on Mondays.
Review 100:We biked around Sicily and Hotel La Batia was, by far, the BEST value for the money. It was fabulous and filled with personality. Our room had so much character and unique features. Shower was wonderful, bed very comfortable and the staff were so friendly and nice. I highly recommend this hotel. The breakfast was awesome too. We had four bicycles that the staff insisted that we lock away in their garage so we wouldn't worry. I loved this hotel the best from the twelve that we stayed at while touring Sicily. The restaurant attached has great food. Plenty of off street parking.
Review 101:We had some very nice days at the hotel. The restaurant is great, andthe hotel is very beautiful decorated. It´s not fare away from abeautiful beach, but car is recommended.Eli Kristensen
Review 102:Beautiful hotel. Every room is unique and decorated with the utmostattention for detail. Bathrooms are very nice also. Very classy!!!Absolutely loved it.
Review 103:Internet could be improved
Review 104:one of the best hotels I've been to
Review 105:Staff Restaurant Rooms Quality
Review 106:Very nice complex Good pool Delicious breakfast!! and good restaurant!!
Review 107:The staff are very helpfull
Review 108:Extremely noisy in (our, 404) room. You can hear everything what your neighbors are doing... Not good for your night rest..
Review 109:Poolbar not open til 13:00 Would be Nice if it opend at 11:00.
Review 110:Nice pool area for both children and adults.
Review 111:This is a unique hotel that I do not hesitate to return back to. Excellent restaurant, very nice room and pool area...
Review 112:Beautiful place, profesional staff and very good quisine in the restaurant. We will for sure come to Grand Hotel La Batia again!
Review 113:Excellent value for money. The historical building has been refurbished with great attention to details. Very kind and professional staff.
Review 114:difficult to get around. driving very traumatic
Review 115:very good hotel
Review 116:The breakfast was excellent (self-made pastries etc.), the quadruple-room was clean and spacious and it was easy to park the car.
Review 117:Extremely nice staff. Wonderfully restored and very relaxing. Great pool area with a small separate pool for toddlers.
Review 118:We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The restaurant was also very good, unlike many hotel restaurants. I would recommend to all my friends.
Review 119:Room was very big, but not good decor or wall coloursafe did not work
Review 120:Breakfast was very good.
Review 121:All perfect - beautiful place - great staff - faultless - I can't saymore
Review 122:Wi Fi very poor and unreliable. Only available from certatain partsof the hotel
Review 123:Clean good staff reasonable price
