Reviews for Boutique 25
Review 1:Had to telephone the hotel to get entry. Smell of drains in the bathroom. Very poor TV signal. Inadequate breakfast for the price - get someone who knows how to fry an egg.
Review 2:Nice building, near to plenty of places to eat. Good coffee for breakfast. Wifi fast enough for a Netflix movie (used because TV was unwatchable).
Review 3:Lack of parking, although pay and display car park is only a short walk.
Review 4:Very friendly staff. Room we stayed in was nicely decorated. It was very quiet. The breakfast was good (vegetarian) although a vegetarian sausage would have enhanced it!
Review 5:The best room is at the front but the hotel fails to explain that at the weekend the excessive noise from the bar downstairs will prevent any sleep until around 2am, consequently I had a miserable time deprived of sleep.
Review 6:The owner had a stained shirt which straight away put me of breakfast day after. He was sat in the dark no lights on which was odd. TV in room didnt work and on leaving made a comment to my husband about me which was very disrespectful asking did he pick me up last night very rude
Review 7:Location
Review 8:Alas, having booked for 4 Adults and 2 Children (Age 5 and 3) there was no mention at all that the Suite we had booked is not suitable for small children due to the Very steep spiral staircase up to the rooms which does not have any way of being blocked off to save them falling down, so having paid for the whole suite, only 2 of us stayed and the rest of the family had to head back home.
Review 9:Very centrally located and beautifully decorated rooms.
Review 10:Paint coming off the wall and cracked floor tile but these are only minor things!
Review 11:Lovely hotel, comfy bed and love the jacuzzi bath. Love the little touches with the radox bath & shower gell gel provided. Great location and friendly manager. Would definitely stay here again and recommend too
Review 12:The tv only had one channel that worked and that had a fluctuating reception. The hot water ran cold after 3 or 4 mins so I had to share a luke warm bath after my wife had finished , but the worst point was that the mattresses were past their best and it felt like I was always rolling towards the side of the bed. I did ask for a refund within an hour of being there as I wouls rather have gone home, but was told this wasn't possible and was offered a bottle of prosecco instead . I took it so the stay would feel less painful.
Review 13:Hmmm???
Review 14:Parking! Luckily there was public parking about 1 minute away.
Review 15:The staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Food was good and the bed was comfy.
Review 16:Reception closes in the evening and my partner had gone to the room before me. Calls to both numbers on display had no answer and I had to wait for guests to exit before I could get in. I received a call that woke me at 12am from the guy on reception who was supposed to have let me in at 9pm. The quality and quantity of breakfast was poor. 1 sausage, 2 bacon, 1 egg and a tiny portion of mushrooms. Bacon wasn't freshly cooked and the mushrooms were hard. A restaurant is advertised but there isn't one at the hotel. Rooms on the front (rooms 2 & 3) have no double glazing or sound proofing so it is very noisy in those rooms. No biscuits in the room but we were given 1 pair of used slippers! The atmosphere of this hotel feels more like a hostel. It is void of any character and we were very disappointed as we had visited before. There are obviously new owners who have stripped this hotel of everything that was good about it. They have even turned up the volume in the "Below 25" cocktail bar.
Review 17:Good location, cheap price, clean room and crisp, quality linen.
Review 18:Being shoved in a lift with no heating, the room pictures were different to advertised, we reserved a three bedroom suite which we did not get, the decor was tired, cold and plastic. We handed out key back and decided to go back home. I have added a photo of the advert compared to the actual room!
Review 19:The location and decor upon arrival
Review 20:Halfway home, discovering a parking penalty notice on the windscreen (bottom left) for parking in the hotel car park and paying £3 per night. Hotel supposed to be dealing with it but have heard nothing.
Review 21:Room, location, helpful proprietor.
Review 22:The breakfast was little small.
Review 23:The staff in the hotel were very friendly and we thought they were welcoming to the hotel. The hotel was clean, and comfortable with a good location.
Review 24:Only downside was that the fridge was empty! There was a list of contents of what you could have on front, took my time to read what was available, only to find empty once finished reading, did laugh about it afterwards! This wouldn't put me off going to this hotel.
Review 25:The rooms where all clean, comfy bed & pillows ( which is a bonus for me as I normally take my own pillows everywhere!)
Review 26:Coffee with breakfast was instant coffee rather than cafetière or filter.
Review 27:My fiancée is unable to eat gluten or dairy and after we'd emailed to check if we needed to bring anything for breakfast the hotel had gone out of their way to buy soya milk and gluten free bread. This was much appreciated and something that seems to be beyond other larger and more expensive hotels.
Review 28:No real shower in the bathroom, had to hold the shower head and it went all over the bathroom floor. TV wasn't working properly and very dusty. Old décor, not at all as portrayed in the website, very disappointed. Hard to find and parking a good walk away.
Review 29:Although the bathroom window had frosting on the lower window pane, it really should have a privacy blind.
Review 30:Staff were very polite and happy to help. Comfortable bed.
Review 31:Not so much bad experience but we found the hotel a little on the cold side. No heating on. Although the weather was good each afternoon with warm sunshine the evenings were very cold.
Review 32:Owner/staff very welcoming/friendly. Could not do enough for us. Room very spacious and everything we needed in the room.
Review 33:Nothing bad at all really, I wanted an iron but there wasn't one in the room and I couldn't find any staff to help - not the end of the world by any means!
Review 34:The manager was very friendly and allowed us to check in early which was much appreciated!
Review 35:Most of it! Had to ring a telephone number to get in! Shown to room which was ok Went out for meal On return at 8 pm Nobody there so when our television didn't work, nobody at al in hotel to sort it out Rang number three times before a response Man arrived tele on one station only Went back to reception Guess what? Nobody in hotel at all!!!! Gave up! Breakfast served from8.30 Guess what? Nobody there! nothing laid up Nooooo body there! If I had been a single woman I would have felt really vulnerable in this hotel.Totally unacceptable Health and safety does not exist in this so called hotel I am going to research the legal side of this I
Review 36:The bed was clean Room ok shower good
Review 37:little Problem in the bathroom, could have been repared before our arrival
Review 38:very helpful and friendly, nice large rooms, parking available for 3 pd per day
Review 39:had to ask for fresh towels on 3rd day, no one at reception and hotel locked till also very noisy on fri and sat night as also stairs to room , no elevatorbar is in hotel3pm so dont arrive early
Review 40:the location was good
Review 41:We could not find the hotel straight away! as the council will not let them put a sign up with the name of the hotel on, with it being a listed building, which is a shame for them. They have got a name above the front door. but trying to visually find it in the car is hard.
Review 42:Very helpful staff and they have a fantastic cocktail bar down in the basement. Food was lovely and nothing was too much for the owners. lovely pubs opposite too, and a fantastic shopping area with lovely old shops.
Review 43:Had some trouble with tv in room.Stuggled to tune it properly.
Review 44:Good breakfast,Bathroom good with powerful shower.Nice people who cared that our stay was pleasant.
Review 45:Found out that the only rooms available to those booking this hotel through 'Bookings. Com' are at the front of the hotel (rooms 2 and 3), these rooms suffer from road noise and noise from the cellar bar directly under these rooms. The manager told me that the quiet rooms which are at the back of the hotel are only available to those booking through the hotels own website. When I complained about the lack sleep due to the cellar bar noise, i was told that there is a disclaimer on 'Booking.Com' website, when i researched this, yes there is, but it does not mention that this refers to the rooms at the front of the hotel, or to rooms only available through bookings website. The room we had (number 3) was tired and dated and in need of serious upgrade. Also, the photo's on bookings website are totally misleading.
Review 46:The location was good.
Review 47:A sign outside would have been helpful, although this was not the fault of the owner but as a listed building needed planning permission which was awaited.
Review 48:Convenience to the town, a few minutes walk.
Review 49:bed a little too hard for me & despite having tea & coffee in the room I would have liked a bottle of water
Review 50:location very pleasant, friendly & helpful staff who went to Tesco to make sure I had porridge for my breakfast ! Many thanks
Review 51:Not a bad experience but note hoel has no parking. The bathroom seemed a little tired but for minimal cost could be brought up to scratch. (Eg a couple of floor tiles replaced and a few tiles along bath and basin would prevent paint peeling.)
Review 52:Friendly staff, good breakfast, and central location in Skipton.
Review 53:The state of the room, although clean and modern, looked a little tired (cracked tiles, paint coming off the walls) and not quite as high spec. as I would have expected from the photos. There was also no proper shower in our room. The bar wasn't open which was a shame,as I would have liked to see it.
Review 54:The building was lovely, high ceilings and nice sized rooms. The staff were lovely and attentive. Great location.
Review 55:The reception staff and owner were really helpful and caring and. Just a few minutes walk to town centre. Clean. Breakfast delicious.service with a smile.
Review 56:All in all very nice experience however I did think it was a tiny bit over priced for what it was. Also no free parking and £20 early check in fee. Wouldn't put me off staying agian but would probably look for something a bit more reasonable.
Review 57:Staff very very helpful and the location is great.
Review 58:Only downside was some areas where in need of a little tlc through wear and tear. Not bad enough to put anyone of staying here.
Review 59:10/10 for location, service and breakfast. Excellent shower. Super clean luxurious towels and robes.
Review 60:- On closer inspection of the room it was let down by scratches on the table as it was glass and the chair for sitting on was needing replaced as it looked out of place and was stained.- Due to the way the bath had been plumbed in you had to run the hot water tap in the bathroom sink to get hot water to the bath this was not explained to us on check in- Had to call owner later on to get the wifi password as it was not given on arival- Room was right next to laundry room and even with room window opened the room was still very stuffy all night-Upon leaving the window open as it is right next to a main road the traffic noise from 6am to 10pm was very unpleasant-Parking was shocking as you had to go through a very very narrow gap to get into we had to fold mirrors in and had to reverse back onto the road that is very busy and right next to a zebra crossing this took nearly 5minutes and the owner had to walk across the crossing before i could even reverse my car back onto the main road the traffic was that busy. upon entering the car park lots of the cars were also dented scratched due to how narrow it was.- When we parked the car up there was alot of old junk lying around the back of the hotel that was very off putting.- When we did eventually get parked in the car park and went to check in we were told after damaging my car that we had to pay to park my car at £3 per night this was not explained to us when we booked.- Wifi was debatable at best with loads of getting chucked on and off.- Tv picture was very fuzzy and sound quality was poor.- Bathroom was not very clean as there was soap scum around the glass and tray and the shower head could have been doing with a good clean aswell.- When we booked the hotel it was advertised as having the jacuzzi bath this was not the case when we arrived it was just a normal bath and was one of the reasons that made us book the hotel.
Review 61:- Shower was really good as it had consistent temperature and strong water pressure the big shower head was great. - Room looked very modern and up to date -Bath in bedroom next to tv was great for relaxing after a long drive. - Very welcoming and couldn't have done more for you at breakfast time. - Great location as it is just a five minute walk to the town
Review 62:Overpriced, long wait for Breakfast, confusion and delay on check in, narrow gap to park, TV didn't work, Safe didn't work, poor wifi.
Review 63:Attentive Staff, Nice Room, Comfortable, Good Shower, Good location
Review 64:too noisey needs double glazing taps on the sinks not secured to wash basin area (when you turn the tap all the water cables/pipes move with it) breakfast needs looking at cheap sausages, brown bread for toast(i like white) mushrooms small quantity bacon over done
Review 65:staff went out of there way to help who where polite and curtisious
Review 66:They are new to this business but tried really hard
Review 67:The owners were lovely they couldn't do enough for us. It was my husbands 60th and I asked for chocolates and Prosecco in the room which was there when we arrived followed by a card and baloon such a nice touch.
Review 68:Noisy on a Friday due to bar, but would stay again during the week.
Review 69:excellent staff, room and fact they'd kept most of features from original building.
Review 70:Excellent location, two minutes from the town centre, Friendly and Welcoming, Spotlessly clean room with large tv, cd player, bathrobes, slippers, tea & coffee making facilities, free wi- fi etc. Excellent breakfast. Highly Recommended.
Review 71:Slightly more than I would regularly pay for a off-the-cuff night away (only living 6 miles away) however I do appreciate the location and cost of hotels in the market town.
Review 72:The couple (presume owners) couldn't do enough for us. It was a surprise for my partner and was the perfect stay. They were exceptionally professional, polite and the breakfast was lovely.
Review 73:could not get the television nor radio to function.Lot of traffic noise in the morning.
Review 74:Friendly and welcoming staff and provided with freshly cooked breakfast.
Review 75:Nothing, loved everything about it
Review 76:The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was lovely, breakfast was great and the location was perfect, will be booking to stay here again
Review 77:Very convenient for everything we needed to do in Skipton. Lovely building , with lovely staff. The room contained everything we required for our weekend, even a fridge at no extra cost. I'm always a fan of free WiFi.
Review 78:poor choice of breakfast, several lights in room and bathroom not working, very noisy until early hours due to bar downstairs
Review 79:it was convenient for restaurants
Review 80:Arrived latish and the male person who greeted us didn't seem to know what he was doing and also he was confused when he asked us to pay there and then we said we usually pay when we leave in other establishments .he then said he wasn't sure there would be any one to do the transaction .this din;t give us a very confident feeling about the place it seemed a bit 3rd rate not boutique
Review 81:Next more we actually met the lady owner who explained that she was very new to the business and that explained a lot.She restored our confidence in the place .However as experienced hotel uses we feel she needs more support the poor lady we feel won't be able to keep the pace her brother (based in Birmingham) seems to need her to.
Review 82:check in is from 3pm but our room was not cleaned and ready untill 4.40 pm. The room was by no means to a luxury standard, curtains were creased(unironed) ,bathroom floor tiles were cracked, paint was shabby around the bath. Volume on the tv did not work. Only 2 hangers for our clothes.
Review 83:Location, Breakfast
Review 84:No hot water. Car park entrance was very tight and was pay-to-stay (although only £3)
Review 85:Staff were friendly and welcoming. Location is perfect - right in town centre.
Review 86:The room was cold (heating didn't seem to work) and bathroom felt 'tired' (cracked tiles, loose taps etc.). Shower wasn't very hot. Wires hanging out around the TV. Recent new owners, so contrary to their website, there is no restaurant on site.
Review 87:Staff friendly and helpful. Great location. Clean.
Review 88:2 night stay with uncleaned room. Poor breakfast in a uninviting dining room.misleading pictures on website maybe was a boutique standard 10years ago.unhelpful staff when you could find them !!!!!
Review 89:Didn't think that it was really value for money...... Pictures of the rooms make it look so much better.
Review 90:The cocktail bar was lovely staff really friendly and a great atmosphere was a lovely place to stay
Review 91:A little bit shoddy, cheap fittings are showing wear eg tiles in bathroom and grouting cracked. Has potential to be more welcoming and homely
Review 92:Great building, stylish and tasteful...
Review 93:If you don't want to be up til 1:30 with the shouting from outside the basement wine bar, ask for a room at the back. We got the front room, single-glazed, on a Saturday night. Not good! A few items in the room didn't work properly (tv, sink taps) or were broken (window shutters) and this place generally seemed to be style over substance. Someone else's trousers were still hanging in the wardrobe when we checked in. Poor breakfast too.
Review 94:Four poster bed, good shower, good wifi, great location, friendly staff.
Review 95:This is a perfectly fine, comfortable hotel, but I wouldn't class it as 'boutique'. The staff are all lovely and helpful, but reception isn't manned all the time. It has a good cocktail bar in the basement called '25 Below'.
Review 96:Room was rather pricey at £128. Dining room was cold (no heating on) and uninviting. Tables + chairs needed updating. Linen tablecloths and napkins would have been a bonus and perhaps the staff shouldn't really be polishing tables when guests are eating. Also background music or more soft furnishing might go some way to absorbing sound so that guests can speak privately without fear of being overheard.
Review 97:Staff were friendly; room was clean + comfortable; breakfast was good.
Review 98:We found the noise from the down stairs bar/club disturbing though the music did go off at a reasonable hour
Review 99:The location was well placed for getting our and about. The breakfast was very good
Review 100:They gave us a price then they said they had emailed me to say the room would be 20.00 more for early checkin which I never received what I did receive was an update to a better room at the cost 20.00 very disappointing
Review 101:Found out on arrival that there wasn't a restaurant in the hotel, was really looking forward to a nice meal with my partner.
Review 102:The staff were lovely, very welcoming. The room was nice & location was spot on for what we wanted it for.
Review 103:Suite booked, 3 rooms but only used one for my husband and I and then put the travel cot in another so that we could watch TV etc on the evening and wouldnt disturb our 21 month old. Lots of space and roll top bath in our bedroom. Breakfast lovely and owner too.
Review 104:It just needs some tidying up round the edges, odd things could do with a touch up.
Review 105:Large room, great roll top bath in bedroom. Nice & clean, great location & lovely building.
Review 106:Down side car parking while a good feature,, parking was very tight for a small car so I think a bigger one would struggle. While accommodation wasn't as luxurious as shown very good value for money.
Review 107:Excellent location, very friendly staff would definitely go again.
Review 108:Very narrow alleyway to the car park at the rear only just got my car in
Review 109:Great location , very friendly helpful staff, breakfast excellent , our room was immaculate with all expectations as advertised.
Review 110:Looks good, some of the fixtures and fittings are not quite there from a quality point of view. The TV reception was a bit dodgey however some tinkering sorted that. The extractor fan in the bathroom was broke, but no such an issue for me but more the owners.
Review 111:Staff were friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable and the shower was excellent and slept well. Breakfast was good and had a decent choice on offer. The room was warm and bright.
Review 112:Very cold, particularly in dining room, radiators lukewarm at best, breakfast ingredients on the cheap side. Dusty in room
Review 113:Very nice welcoming owner, large room, quiet at the back of property, good rain shower, wifi good.
Review 114:Breakfast cold or microwaved heating in dining area and room on timer which needs adjusting but owner did explain just taken over so these may only be teething problems once this is sorted would consider staying again.
Review 115:Location good very friendly staff and room good.
Review 116:Gloomy hotel with few lights on. Chipped bathroom suite. Wires dangling from TV. Hot water ran out in the morning. Terrible breakfast as if in transport cafe.
Review 117:Nothing
Review 118:there was no menu for breakfast and when paying £100 + for BB you expect a bit of choice. We payed more for a better quality room as a treat and bedroom was clean but The bath in our room was cracked and need replacing the bathroom units had holes / cracks in and the shower gel and shampoo looked like hadn't been changed in a while and when your paying extra you expect better.
Review 119:The location in skipton was fantastic, the staff was very friendly
Review 120:Tight squeeze to get to the private car park at the back of the hotel.
Review 121:Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and bed so comfortable that we slept in and missed breakfast! Would definitely stay again.
Review 122:The location was perfect. The staff were wonderful, professional and approacable in the right measures. Their main priority is to ensure that their guests feel welcome and enjoy their stay.
Review 123:Small things that could have been improved upon. There was a half used bottle of Radox to go with the bath, which was situated in the bedroom - not very "boutique" like. The en-suite door dragged on the carpet, and the extractor fan didn't work. On arrival we were informed that there was a cocktail bar, should we wish to use it. In reality, this turned out to be a bit of a nuisance, as the music was very loud coming from under the bedroom we were stopping in. Were it summer, and you wished to have the window open, this would be a major issue. We asked for coffee with our breakfasts, which was served in a teapot and tasted like it was the instant variety!
Review 124:The bedroom was large and the bed comfortable. The shower was good in the en-suite. Breakfast was nice, and the staff were very obliging.
Review 125:1. bed too low in Room 5 2. rubbish from refurb (old bath, cardboard box from the new) left visible to dimning room on decking area. 3. Dining area is barn like where every sound carries due to table cloths/place mats and hard floor. 4. There was no breakfast choice offered (for comparision checkout 'Woolly Sheep' for choice).. 5. Hot water temprature/radiator heat was intermittent - switched off seemingly by accident (should not be at expense of enjoyment to the paying guests). 6. No bottled water or biscuits in the room
Review 126:location
Review 127:There was a used wine glass in our room upon arrival (under the bed) and one of the posts on the four poster bed was beginning to snap.
Review 128:Friendly helpful staff, almost in the centre of town, lovely breakfast. Nice decor.
Review 129:We booked this hotel specifically because we wanted to stay in the room with a jacuzzi bath - which we did but the jacuzzi and attached shower head and radio were broken! There was a rubber shower hose attached to the main bath tap which flew off everytime you turned the water on, we didn't get told it was broken on arrival - there was a piece of paper stuck to the wall in the bathroom so it was obviously an ongoing problem, but we would have chosen to stay somewhere cheaper if we had known in advance - and we were not offered a reduced price because of this.
Review 130:Couldn't be better located to explore Skipton town centre, right off the main high street, across the road from a Wetherspoons pub. The cooked breakfast in the morning was lovely and the staff were friendly.
Review 131:Parking wasn't good, but found parking over other side of road only until 8.30am but we left early for meetings so it did not worry us.
Review 132:Very clean and comfortable Parking car up to 8.30am over road to Hotel otherwise difficult to park. Breakfast was nice. Hotel overall was really good for the money although we were not sure from outside when we arrived, we would stay there again. Great value.
Review 133:was a bit cold few of the radiators did not get warm. few lights did not work especially on the stairs bit dangerous, banister was wobbly also dangerous needs securing asap. no tv in the twin room even though says tv in all rooms
Review 134:impressed with the room , breakfast was also good
Review 135:The only negative we had was that we were in a front bedroom which didn't have double glazing so was rather noisy throughout the night.
Review 136:The hotel couldn't have been in a better position. Ideal for the town centre and bus service, which we used to go to the Grassington Christmas market. Also handy for the numerous pubs/restaurants in Skipton.
Review 137:there was no shower or use of a bath because the plug wouldn't go in. there was a short hair rinse shower but wasn't really useful for freshening up properly
Review 138:location, the staff were friendly and it was clean.
Review 139:the parking was ok for our car as it was small but a bit of a squeeze, larger cars will struggle. i thought a few extra touches like better napkins and a fresh table cloth at breakaafst table would be nice little thing sbut make an impact!
Review 140:we liked the location so close to the toen centre the bedroom had just been redcoreated aso that was good
The Fine Print
Please note that some noise from the bar may be heard in certain rooms at weekends.
