Reviews for Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel
Review 1:No wifi, lot of renovations work and sound. Pool was not upto the mark. Rooms were filthy smell. No proper maintenance. Management is also not good.
Review 2:Breakfast was better.
Review 3:The management have neglected this place and it is becoming ramshackle. Dining and room service hours were inflexible. Cups and plates were left in the corridors for days at a time. The gardens were neglected.
Review 4:It was wonderful to be able to stay in a palace. Our room was quiet and spacious. The interior and character were amazing. The pool was lovely and refreshing. The food was nice, but they only had a limited breakfast selection.
Review 5:Breakfast - Pathetic !!! Repairs and noise on room above took long time to stop. Very sad looking ancient CRT TV !!! No balcony chair / table Indifferent staff
Review 6:Good location and great view from the room ! excellent well manicured lawns !! lots of space for morning walks and to chill out !!
Review 7:The upkeep of such a marvellous property has been neglected. The bathroom facilities are particularly in need of repair. It will be a shame to let this palace go to ruin.
Review 8:The historic connection draws one to stay here and this is maintained to a certain extent.
Review 9:Ever stayed in a real Palace? Well here is you Chance. When you approache the Hotel for the first time, you maybe think you will reachbthe capitol. the room er stayed in had pool\garden view. After the hectic in the centre of Mysore , you will find a place to relax. The Restaurant was good. The pool was good (real swimming). The staf was very friendly and helpfull. Fellt like king and Queen.
Review 10:Room was stinking, very poor breakfast. Booking.com mentioned 24 hours checkout, but the hotel had 12 noon checkout which messed up our travel plans.
Review 11:Heritage hotel
Review 12:Staff offering unrequested services
Review 13:The character of the hotel The food was very good with a big choice of dishes The setting and only a short drive into Mysore and up Chamundi Hill
Review 14:Poor maintenance, expected more for the cost paid, Ordinary complementary breakfast - Not much buffet options.
Review 15:Location , Staff , Ambiance, Peaceful and Serene environment.
Review 16:Buffet lunch not valuable for money and very expensive. No children's pool. Not much activities. Wornout furniture.
Review 17:A heritage property with lot of antiques. A vast property. Centrally located.
Review 18:Charming hotel with real charachter. Peaceful loation on the edge of town provided a quiet rarely found in indian cities. While in some places the building was lacking a little finish for me this enhanced the feel of the place as a lived in heritage hotel
Review 19:Though the morning buffet was delicious, the a la carte menu wasn't very good
Review 20:The palace is a really nice place to walk around and discover old nooks and stairways. The rooms are beautiful and the bathtub is a bonus.
Review 21:Everything except the location. The food was terrible, service was horrible. Room plumbing was badly in need of repairs. Beds were uncomfortable. There was no choice for breakfast. Except at the reception staff was not very friendly. Area near swimming pool was dirty
Review 22:Nothing except the location.
Review 23:this is a awesome destination location. the place looks and feels like a badly kept government office! (Which is what it actually is)Apparently central govt. of India has leased the property from the State govt. of Karnataka(Go figure) they have run the place to ground. They need to get out of the hotel business and lease to a pvt organization.
Review 24:Staff is incredibly friendly, courteous and helpful.
Review 25:Staff are not professional, when we went there they thought we are there to just see the hotel and treated differently, expected better hospitality.
Review 26:Fantastic bulding and hotel facility is good
Review 27:Breakfast wasn't to a 5 star level, they could improve it. Need instant cab facilities and auto facilities since it's located out of city.
Review 28:Great comfort, cleanliness, staffs were very cordial enough, a feel tat we are staying a palace.
Review 29:There was so much that I didn't like I don't know where to begin. This hotel should not be rated more than a 2 star hotel. The shower didn't work properly, I had to shower with a bucket of water and a cup. There was no hair dryer available, we requested a king size bed, they accomplished that by pushing 2 single beds together. It was just old and unacceptable.
Review 30:I liked the paintings on the walls and the staff in the dining room were very attentive to us,
Review 31:- Poor maintenance. - At night I could hear huge mice running in the bathroom's ventilation shaft. Morning was the real low, dust failing from the ventilator above the bath tub because of the mice running around and the bathroom was filled with awful smell of the mice.
Review 32:Location, heritage building, friendly staff
Review 33:Room service can be better, They gave only two bottles of water per day.Breakfast is standard with less variety (idli, upma or pongal, poori)They can introduce more variety.Price was more for the value offered. They can have flat TV's Too many power cuts in last three days
Review 34:I think the room was good Staff are generally good, they have lot of newstaff who don't know Kannada (which I think is essential), They haveto be trained to speak in Kannada
Review 35:Interiors are in a sad affair. plumbing requires an urgent need. Could not sleep as the bath tub made sound entire night :-)
Review 36:liked the service rendered by the staff. The location is a great place, exterior looks good.
Review 37:Staff had to be prompted to replenish toiletries n towels. Vegetarian food not too good
Review 38:The palace...the old world charm and grandeur Non vegetarian food in restaurant fresh n authentic flavours
Review 39:Typical government hotel, Food was expensive and poor quality, Location a drawback as no transport available
Review 40:The scenery around the palace and the feel of staying in one.
Review 41:Its actually not bad but you feel sorry to see the state of affair. Its falling apart. Wish that they give it to a private hotel very soon.
Review 42:Only location and the majestic building
Review 43:Shame to see maintenance being neglected. Disappointed that tours seem to avoid this atmospheric venue in favour of hotels inside the city. Tourists miss a treat.
Review 44:Ambience is good and all facilities, except wifi, worked well, but this was helped because I had a free room upgrade!
Review 45:you need your own wheels to get there as it is a bit on the fringe of town
Review 46:After 30 odd years I returned with pleasant memories. It remains a stunning property at absurd low prices.
Review 47:Old room not in good condition staff wasnot attentive room needed a lot of renovation and maintenance pluming was leaking in the bathroom and there was water all over we will not recommend this place iris like ONE star
Review 48:None it was not a good sperience
Review 49:I liked everything. Total luxury. Quiet, away from noise of Mysore. But that obviously adds to costs as you have to get there and back each time. Staff clearly proud of the place: took us on an unasked for tour of the maharajah's suite.
Review 50:Facilities need to be renovated. Wifi and power did not always work. No wifi in rooms as advertised. Spa and fitness facilities were very poor.
Review 51:The people were generally very nice and the restaurant was very good.
Review 52:Everything. It was not very well looked after. breakfast options were poor. Coffee was terrible. the state of this beautiful place was appalling. It requires serious upgrading. We waited for too long for our pick up taxis. Charges were very high. rooms need serious attention and upgrading. It is soulless. and the location was not great.
Review 53:The architecture is nice. it is a heritage home.
Review 54:Food inside hotel is very average but expensive. Complementary breakfast is pathetic. In the night you can't go out by walk to buy something nearby.
Review 55:Staying in palace itself is wonderful experience. Rooms are very spacious. Locality is very good. With 10-15 mins I could reach Mysore palace and Mysore Zoo.
Review 56:the reception area is a bit small... there are groups of visitors from outside having lunch in the restaurant....sometime noisy.
Review 57:we loved the all over beauty of the palace and the surroundings.the staff was very friendly specially Mr Joseph head of the restaurant who showed us fabulous rooms like no 555 and 333 222...he has nice stories to tell about his work 36 in this place. our room 24 had a four poster bed...very nice bathroom and the outside view from the corridor was very special
Review 58:Maintenance is lax, being a government run hotel. The carpets and all smell a bit musty. The bellboys and let night front desk staff was quite indifferent and least interested in helping us.
Review 59:The place oozes history. It just makes you feel special to live in a Palace. And the dining hall is just gorgeous. Overall facilities are great and it's worth staying there at least once.
Review 60:They can modernise on the electronic appliances and accesories. TV was still a small old TV. Toilet accesories & Taps are old and its like any time would come off. Coz of which there was a continuous noise of some airflow through the taps like a haunted noise. Its good that they maintain it well. But if they could bring some modern technological facilities would be a value of money indeed,,
Review 61:Infrastructure,View,Interiors,Palatial feel are all its plus points. It was a royal feel. The staffs were good. The rooms were just nice. The Ballroom Breakfastroom was awesome feel. We had an Indian Bfast. Wish they had some good Western options as well..
Review 62:Monkey menace - cannot go out on the balconies during the day as monkeys will come flocking to you. Dull lighting in rooms - not good for children. No activities in the evening in hotel - very dull after sunset. Bathroom - water leakage in bath tubs. Extra bed costs 1500 per day plus taxes which is hugely overpriced.
Review 63:Buggy ride within palace premises. Food is good. Housekeeping prompt
Review 64:There are a lot of monkeys. So you cannot done outside nor leave your balcony door open as the monkeys came in our room. The hotel was a bit out of town but luckily we found a reliable driver that was there within ten mins of texting.
Review 65:Everything was gorgeous, definitely run down, but overall beautiful. It was quite the experience staying in a palace. The staff were incredible and took exceptional care of us.
Review 66:Very badly maintained bathrooms and floors. Service is very poor. Overall hotel needs drastic improvement in every area.
Review 67:Canopy Bed, Excellent Location.
Review 68:The price of lunch was far too high for the variety provided. Range of fruits at breakfast was very limited. Exhaust in bathrooms was not working.
Review 69:Peace and quiet of the location
Review 70:They can improve the bathroom conditions and wifi connectivity in the room would be greatly appreciated
Review 71:It was a business trip with my colleagues from China, Germany and USA and had an absolutely mind blowing experience while staying at the Royal Palace. First of all, we have to set the expectations right.. As the palace haven't been renovated to the modern living standards, that gives a perfect charm and beauty as if we were living in a real palace couple of centuries before. The palace gardens and the well maintained swimming pool is stunning and we had good time enjoying the facilities. Staff were well trained and their hospitality at the best, i felt like a real king while being in the palace.
Review 72:room furniture was dated and dirty. Door and windows cannot be securely closed, whilst few monkeys jumping around in the corridor! toilet is dirty and seemed to have not been cleaned or maintained since ages; dirty smelly WC and dirty bathtub with broken taps and drains. No hot water. Terribly dirty towels. Noisy nearby shooting range until late night. Felt very scared and had to call my driver and cut my stay even though I have paid in advance. I suggest that this hotel should be removed from booking.com site, because information provided are misleading.
Review 73:- the external appearance of the building and the surrounding landscape
Review 74:Minor problem was that the stored selling artifacts dint have attendants.
Review 75:The experience of staying and using the facilities was truly royal. Right from the welcoming until departure we were very well treated. Felt like a king and the palace my own.
Review 76:Pathetic management by the Ashok Group.. They have successfully ruined the property by their bad management and operations. My recommendation will for the the government / Ashok Group hand it over to a more professional hospitality operator and save it's history.
Review 77:Such a lovely property which spellbounds us with its rich history..
Review 78:Palace is in dire need of proper maintenance. Bathroom fixtures leaked and plaster work all around in the bathroom. Bathroom was an upsetting experience. Breakfast menu had no change in 3 days. Main course menu needs versatility of food items.
Review 79:Heritage. Experience of staying at a palace. Location. Calm. Historical artefacts at the hotel. Good staff.
Review 80:Cons: Shower was not maintained. Hair drier needs maintenance too.
Review 81:Pros: Rooms were clean and interiors was ethnic and cosy. Booked for single room, but got double bed room. Clean and dry bathroom. Toilet kit including tooth brush paste, etc were provided.
Review 82:Cost of the hotel was not worth it.We would have got better hotel for Rs.7000 + Tax.

Review 112:Needs rework. Everything is broken or outdated.
