Reviews for Rockwood House

Review 1:No free toiletries unless you count the liquid hand was in the bathroom. Like a lot of previous posters I didn't like the fact that fresh milk was in the room but no refrigeration so no early cuppa

Review 2:Strange welcome. Hearing people upstairs complain about room being cold and being told by owner it couldn't be and that he would be bringing a thermometer up...very odd!

Review 3:Can't really think of anything.

Review 4:The landlady was not very engaging! Had to ask for milk and no selection of drinks in the room just tea. Not much variety of cereals No complimentary toiletries No help yourself juices and had not accomodated for a vegetarian.

Review 5:Lovely house just north of Skipton Very clean and lovely deco

Review 6:Friendly and welcoming. They gave us great directions on a drive around the Dales which was very scenic. We only stayed 2 nights as we were traveling down to Wales. We recommend staying there and enjoyed the B & B.

Review 7:The friendliness of the owners Mr and Mrs Stead they helped with places to go and walks, also the grilled breakfast by Jean Stead was brilliant she could not do enough to please her guests chatty too.

Review 8:The property was a little too rural for me in that the final turns were tricky to find at night. Having to ask for toiletries (which were provided according to the info.) Better selection of teas etc. Fresh milk for tea and coffee a good idea but no alternative meant there was no milk on the second day when we returned late at night and didn't wish to disturb our hosts.

Review 9:Fabulous view of the crag from our window, good breakfast, comfortable room.

Review 10:little things like being given a small glass of fruit juice instead a jug being left out to help ourselves. No glasses in the room. The room being next to the front door so hearing all the coming and going

Review 11:position

Review 12:We were made to feel very welcome by our host. She offered plenty of ideas about what we could see and visit in the area. Quiet location, exactly what we wanted.

Review 13:I admit it; I arrived early, which evidently disconcerted the host, who greeted me with "Where did you come from?" All I wanted was to sleep after the stress of driving the Dales one-lane roads. Then I was told not to use the dining area - available to guests only during breakfast, because, after all, this was a bed & breakfast, not a hotel. I've been in B&Bs and usually they give a warm welcome and tour of the property and its common areas. Rockwood staff seem to not want people in the building between 10 am and 5 pm, so don't bother arriving then.

Review 14:Nearby quality pub and convenient free public parking across the street.

Review 15:Nothing to dislike.

Review 16:A lovely B&B in great location. Wonderful breakfast. The owners were very friendly & couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was a good one. I would definitely recommend.

Review 17:Bedroom could have done with a blackout blind as there was an orange street light on all night. The shower was not at all good.

Review 18:Bed was comfortable and a good breakfast

Review 19:I really enjoyed the period features, large room, comfortable bed and the hospitality and beautiful breakfast. The owners ensure you are treated the best of everything.Highly recommended and the views from the front and the walks up the crag and the 2 pubs within easy walking distance all make for a wonderful stay.

Review 20:There is nothing to dislike.

Review 21:Location , comfort, quiet, easy parking , excellent room, delicious breakfast, beautiful views, lovely lovely lady who owns rock wood.

Review 22:The room that I thought I booked on line was different to the attic room, with low ceiling, that I received There was no outlook, just 2 small windows in the roof. Had I known this, I would have stayed elsewhere. It is suitable for a child. Other rooms looked very pleasant. They don't like you to arrive until 5 Pm, and leave by 9.30, preferably

Review 23:Jean was very pleasant lady, breakfast was very good.

Review 24:TV was complete rubbish played for a while and then froze, after asking twice for it to be fixed (and it was but went again) we gave up! also we asked for milk on the Friday and didnt get it til Sat! neither of which was a deal breaker and the owners were really nice but it was a little annoying!

Review 25:Comfortable en suite room and bed, nice owners. Close to an excellent pub too!

Review 26:The atmosphere of this lovely place makes it special. Located in a village outside Skipton, less than 5 minutes by taxi, with a bus route few steps away. Quite and relaxing place. There is a pub near by which serves good food. The owners are welcoming and very attentive to the needs of the guest, five stars for that one. Would definetely stay here again.

Review 27:Typical B&B that caters well for the leisure traveller but unable to offer breakfast before 8:00 for business traveller.

Review 28:Fair sized room, clean and tidy, comfortable beds, well kept. Pub with typical pub food a stones throw away from the B&B. Good parking. Good view from the bedroom, pleasant and friendly owner.

Review 29:Shower on the wee side, pressure and hot water a bit hit and miss but doesn't detract from lovely stay

Review 30:Excellent location, ample parking, owners very friendly and accommodating. Good breakfast with fresh local ingredients.

Review 31:We loved the quiet village location, with convenient parking and friendly pub with fab food nearby, the accommodation was very clean and breakfast was lovely, the people were so friendly and helpful, would defiantly go back and recommend to others.

Review 32:Rather close to the road, which made it a bit noisy to sleep with window open. There was also no mirror in bedroom, only in shower room.

Review 33:Both were very nice and helpful, and easy to have a conversation with about the area and things in general.

Review 34:Nothing.

Review 35:The staff were very friendly. The room was very clean and the view was brilliant. The next day I had a lovely cooked breakfast.I would definitely recommend a visit to Rockwood House. An excellent B&B.

Review 37:I booked Rockwood House for a couple of nights prior to a wedding in Burnsall. Location, service and comfort were all exactly what I needed. The staff were really accomodating and I felt able to explore the area at ease.

Review 38:didnt like being told breakfast would be between 8 and 9 and on saying i would be there for 9 being told to come earlier because the landlady had to go to play golf! was told there would be a view and there was a car park! kettle arrangement in room was dangerous.

Review 85:Breakfast

Review 86:Car park was across the main road, making access with luggage slightly more awkward.

Review 87:Standard of accommodation and the breakfast.

Review 88:friendliness of owner.

Review 89:Excellent value for money with great hosts and a delicious breakfast

Review 90:Mixer on shower may need attention...not mixing well!..But a minor issue.,

Review 91:Jean and her hubby are excellent hosts.

Review 92:nothing

Review 93:friendly welcome very homely

Review 94:Clean, comfortable and friendly

Review 95:Bathroom rather small, and glazing of bathroom door does not provide full privacy. Shower takes a long time to warm up, and the flow of water is not very strong. No fresh fruit provided with breakfast. The bread used for toast was not of particularly good quality.

Review 96:Friendly people. Plenty of free parking in car park across the road. Staircase to bedroom was quite grand and spacious and not at all steep. Good quality jam and marmalade at breakfast.

Review 97:Quiet village location, but also only a short drive to Skipton town. Convenient public carpark opposite. Large room with good view, and fresh milk for tea/coffee. Pub a stone's throw away serving good food. Good breakfast.

Review 98:Although (like the hosts) I prefer fresh milk in my tea/coffee, and this was provided when I arrived - I think it would be good to provide some long-life milk so that guests do not need to request more milk. The hand towels in my room were rather old.

Review 99:Very friendly hosts. Great breakfast, just what I asked for, very well cooked. Very clean and comfortable. WiFi a bonus.

Review 100:The overnight stay for two people was £72.00 for B and B . We arrived about 18.15 and the owner was a little slow in answering the door and we received a retort about us being impatient bearing in mind our arms were full of luggage. Our bedroom was at the front of the house with a large window with no nets or blind so if you were change the whole street could see you. The room was clean the shower was box in the room very old fashioned there was no bath mat or a glass for water the toiletries were half a liquid soap and shower gel the owner did warn us that the shower would take 3mins to get warm she was right. The tea and coffee to be fair the owner did bring fresh milk but the box of coffee was a few teaspoons of granules in a discoloured plastic box. Breakfast the owners husband served this and he was pleasant the breakfast selection was poor there was no fruit or yoghurt the main event was nice but I the felt that everything was portion controlled . As for value for money I thought this was expensive and poor quality compared to city centre for less

Review 101:No complaints but the shower was quite cramped.

Review 102:The location was stunning - especially the view of Embsay Crag! The footpath began directly in front of the house. Everyone we met in the village was very friendly, including the landlady of the Cavendish Arms and our hosts, who were also very helpful.

Review 103:A lovely very well presented guest house with fantastic hosts. Our bedroom was clean and very nice. The owners are friendly and chatty and helpful and the breakfast was also very good. Definitely go again Top marks and thanks for a lovely stay

Review 104:Property opens onto the main road.

Review 105:Enjoyed the Guest House in a quiet village location. Good location for the Dales and surrounding Towns and Cities. Staff we're very helpful and polite. Breakfast was well prepared.

Review 106:Just one thing: the en suite was not as private as is usual. The wall did not extend right up to the ceiling.

Review 107:The room was well furnished, the bed comfortable and the view of the hill from the window was inspiring, along with a typical Dales' barn. We were also pleased to find a Bible from the Gideons in the drawer beside the bed. We read from it and found it helpful. The breakfast was of a very high standard.

Review 108:the bathroom could benefit from a slip mat in the shower tray as a little bit slippy. The addition of a dressing table mirror would be beneficial as it was difficult applying makeup using the bathroom mirror because of the harsh light.

Review 109:very homely and comfortable. lovely cooked breakfast. owners were hospitable and welcoming. room was bright, clean and the en-suite was new and modern.

Review 110:The welcome was very friendly, everything else was extremely good, especially the breakfast. We will certainly book again when next in the area.

Review 111:Breakfast time between 8-9 suited us, but I can imagine it would be restrictive for some. But hey ho it is a b&b a and not a hotel.

Review 112:Very helpful couple, beautiful views from the bedrooms. Spacious room on the ground floor. Great breakfast.

Review 113:We did not get the room we booked on line ,shower facilities werepoor. When you left the house you walked straight on to a busy main roadwith no path a bit dangerous,we were going to stay another night in thearea but decided to go home. The owner did not know much about who wewere or payment

Review 114:We liked the location for access to the Dales and also to the town of Skipton. We particularly liked the friendly but unobtrusive welcome. Rockwood House is a very clean, comfortable hotel.
