Reviews for George Boutique Hotel

Review 1:Couldn't get into restaurant for dinner as no tables and large queue so had to get room service as didn't want to go out again.

Review 2:Staff were lovely and bed was unbelievably comfortable!

Review 3:nothing

Review 4:The rooms were nice and clean and has loads of coffee and even a caffetiere so great there. Heather in recepetion was great when I parked in the wrong car park and without any fuss said she could arrange to still stamp it so great there. The restaurant owner and staff were fab, passionate and obviously held a lot of pride in what they do.. Even after us having to delay our main courses they still managed to provide an outstanding meal.. Big shout out to marta who was a beautiful waitress.

Review 5:reception staff rude hotel hard to find ok if you dont take a car. breakfast poor up against its rivals and over priced.if you book it on line. bar music loud could not hear to talk. would not use it again.

Review 6:the bedroom was quite comfortable.

Review 7:Found a pair of underwear under our desk but also work in hotel so know how easily it can happen.

Review 8:Lovely bar area, seating outside bar in lobby also nice. Lovely outside smoking area and owner of restaurant very pleasant to talk to.

Review 9:The walls are paper thin. I had 2 sets of very noisy neighbours that kept me awake for a few hours in the middle of the night. The area for breakfast wasn't very clean. The breakfast was very, very poor.

Review 10:The lady at reception that checked us in was lovely. Comfortable bed.

Review 11:Great Location, friendly and helpful staff, fantastic Italian restaurant in-house that's well worth trying out, Nice comfortable cosy rooms, Will definitely revisit this hotel

Review 12:I booked a single room. It was cramped and certainly didn't feel like a 4* hotel. The bed was pushed up against a wall. It was a double bed but a single headboard. 4* is pushing it

Review 13:Excellent central location so getting back to the hotel late at night is safe

Review 14:The cot was not in our room as requested. However it was brought within minutes of our phone call to reception.

Review 15:Great location. The bar/ restaurant was ideal for meeting up with friends. We stayed on the 6th floor and had no issue with noise. The room was clean and had a cafetiere (a bonus!).

Review 16:Breakfast

Review 17:Breakfast poor it was cold and greasey.not enough choice in the cooked breakfast also the lay out for breakfast is all over the place and hard to follow. It didn't help that I found a piece of plascic in my fruit bowl

Review 18:I was kept awake for 2 hours during the night by what seemed like a tap constantly running. Nobody's fault really but we had gone there to get a nights sleep as our baby keeps us awake most nights!

Review 19:Loved how close it was to everything. Bed really comfy. Lovely fresh hotel.

Review 20:Nothing.

Review 21:The room we got was absolutely amazing! Excellent value for money stay at a luxurious hotel in the city centre. It was perfect could not ask for better. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Cannot wait to go back.

Review 22:We had stayed here seven years ago and thought it would be ideal for New Year's Eve (stayed two nights)!! Bad idea, reception when we arrived wasn't pleasant at all!! Got to our room which was ment to be a king size bed, comfortable in description.. two single beds together, not impressed! Furniture was dated too.. We opted to have New Years in the hotel to avoid the hustle and bustle expecting something special. Very disappointing, one bar staff member snapped every time I ordered and I was always polite as I knew the night that was in it. No complementary drink to ring in the new year. Overall very disappointed with the hotel! Boutique??? I've stayed in plenty boutique hotels this is not one anymore.

Review 23:The restaurant, Its was very impressive and great food. The staff were so pleasant definitely go back to the restaurant!

Review 24:I found the new bar and restaurant ridiculously overpriced with a glass of wine starting at 7 euro, it was the one big negative about this hotel.

Review 25:The location of this hotel is perfect for getting around town. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean and the staff are excellent.Great breakfast too.

Review 26:A little noisy that evening due to people returning after Christmas parties. Could be better sound-proofed.

Review 27:Spotlessly clean room exactly as described. Very pleasant, helpful staff, excellent location. Have stayed here several times and would recommend this property.

Review 28:The room was too hot The shower was too hot ..we couldn't reduce the temperature of the shower

Review 29:Really good location ..lovely looking room ..comfortable beds..nice coffee maker in the room

Review 30:Staff member at reception was very sour towards me & was annoyed that I had booked at Booking.com and not directly through the hotel. I had cancelled one of the rooms and she couldn't see it on her system which made her very frustrated with me. She kept asking me when did I change it & I had the email on my phone & offered to show it to her but she wasn't interested. My hand is broken & in plaster cast, they have no porters or at least no one offered me any assistance with bags.

Review 31:Really tasty Italian restaurant within the hotel, with lovely manager & good value for money. Cocktails at the bar were lovely.

Review 32:My only complaint is that the room was a bit stuffy. The hotel location also doesn't offer much in the way of views

Review 33:Good location with a delicious restaurant in the foyer. The staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 34:As our stay was during the Christmas holiday party season the hotel was rather full, other guests were loud & woke us up on a number of occasions We did complain on check out but not much the hotel could have done about it to be honest.

Review 35:Food in Restaurant was good, Staff were friendly & helpfull. City Centre location is excellent

Review 36:The music in bar at night is so loud you have to shout to be heard, we were woken at 5am in the morning with shouting outside our room and then scratching at our door. Very disappointing stay.

Review 37:The hotel is very convenient for the shops

Review 38:The hotel is so central and convenient to everything no need for taxis you can walk everywhere , the rooms are spotless, and there is always great crack in the bar at night .

Review 39:Our room was located above the smoking area and it was still very noisy at 2.00a.m.

Review 40:The hotel was very centrally located great atmosphere and food was excellent. We only had lunch there as the restaurant was booked out and we hadnt booked in advance.

Review 41:Parking garage was quite far from the hotel

Review 42:The rooms were quite clean and comfortable, meal in the dining room was very good and so was the enthusiasm of the chef!

Review 43:6th time staying at this hotel, and can't fault , always get what I ask for. Quite room on a hi floor ,and this time I was very pleased to get a free upgrade to a King Room ,many thanks and look forward to returning next April 2016 .

Review 44:I did not like the hotel "policy" to demand prepayment because I was paying with cash. I would assume that the hotel pays some fees for accepting credit cards and I would think they would want to encourage payment in cash. Perhaps they are worried about people skipping out but they should have access to my credit card through Booking.com, and in any case, this means they presume their lodgers are criminals. This is just a bad policy. I rated the hotel "facilities" down because of this even though the facilities were quite nice. I didn't know where else to register my concern.

Review 45:Once again I enjoyed my stay here, the staff, hotel, fantastic and really nice, loved our room twas perfect, that's why I keep coming bk to this hotel...can't wait to come back again...

Review 46:It would be nice if there was a place to relax. Lobby is very busy and tables seem to be for diners.

Review 47:The food in the restaurant and the service was excellent. We ate there both nights and we're very impressed.

Review 48:Overnight roadworks prevented a good night sleep. Also I had breakfast on my last stay since its been refurbished and I'd say its the only low point of the George Hotel - work to be done on improving the selection of food and service during breakfast please.

Review 49:Great large airy room with comfy surroundings

Review 50:The restaurant has changed from my last visit and it is less welcoming, more 'forced down your throat'. Also the TV in the room had bad signal so kept cutting out.

Review 51:The room was really clean and the reception and bar staff were really friendly.

Review 52:Nothing

Review 53:Very comfy bed, good size room, location is excellent. We ate in Da Vincenzo's & even though we were under pressure timewise, the food & service was fab. We will be back!

Review 54:Perfect location, fantastic bedroom. So comfortable and clean. Very quiet... Brilliant nights sleep!!!! Fantastic range of cocktails within the hotel bar.

Review 55:Myself and my partners 3rd time staying here this year, would not stay anywhere else, we love the location Ånd the Italian restaurant, rooms are modern and nicely decorated. price always reasonable and we always know what to expect from this hotel. we will be back!

Review 56:Not a thing!!

Review 57:Everything about this hotel was perfect for us!We stayed on a Sat night & the hotel was very busy-not an issue for us tho.Great atmosphere & the staff are quick & efficient.

Review 58:Linen had a chemical smell, especially the towels. Cheap toiletries in the rooms, considering the hotel is marketed as a boutique. When I wanted to add a camp bed to my room on the evening (I had a twin room and an extra friend turned up) I was denied even though I offered to pay extra to have it in the room. I was told I would have to forfeit my current room and book a new triple room at full cost. From experience of not only working in hotels, but also staying in hotels frequently with my work, I know that if it is possible to accommodate a guest in another room, then it is possible to accommodate a request for an extra bed in a room with plenty of space.

Review 59:Centrally located, clean and pretty rooms.

Review 60:I paid for a king, but room was very small. Was not told when checked in that hotel only used a particular car park, the one I parked in had very similar name but on check out I was told they didn't use one inparkrd in, so I had to pay 15 euro.?

Review 61:Modern. Nice bar.

Review 62:Very noisy at night. A lot of noise from the smoking area as the room was above it. Also a lot of noise from the neighbouring room through the night. Also regular noise from people talking loudly in the coridors

Review 63:Good central location.

Review 64:I have stayed in the George for yrs which had a lovely bar the new bar is very bad I mean plastic chairs in a hotel come on the tables are like a play school and I booked a king size room which was no as big as when I stayed before

Review 65:Location

Review 66:The entrance was hard to find. The address on the website was given as O'Connel Street but the entrance was in a side street.

Review 67:The location of the hotel was convenient for shopping, dining and site seeing. The rooms were comfortable and clean.

Review 68:The doorman (Jason, i think) was very welcoming and a true gentleman with fantastic knowledge of the city and its attractions, he really made us fell welcome which was a great. The bar staff and reception staff were also so nice and helpful, we loved the bar and the food, the room was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed.

Review 69:On a Saturday night stay, hotel staff placed us in a room on the second floor which was one floor above the lobby and restaurant. An extremely large and extraordinarily loud drinking/dancing party was held in the restaurant beginning at about 8:00 PM with a live band and continuing until 1:00 AM with an equally loud disc jockey playing dance music. We were not informed of this extremely annoying event when we checked-in, or we would have searched for another hotel. We requested a room change but the staff would not permit us to change rooms. Do not stay here when the hotel is hosting a dance party unless you can sleep in the midst of a "dance club" atmosphere! We did request a refund of our payment but the hotel did not respond to our request.

Review 70:Rooms were physically comfortable and well appointed for the cost, but this became irrelevant in view of the dance party held in the hotel's restaurant. It became impossible to rest/sleep until the noise ended at about 2:00 AM.

Review 71:The parking was down the street and there was no pull in to register before parking

Review 72:It was quite central - liked the internet station in the hall as we got out of the elevator on our floor

Review 73:A lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff very well situated in the centre of Limerick. The George has a wonderful Italian restaurant, Da Vincenzo: the chef is a character, and the food is superb and very well priced. I will certainly stay here again!

Review 74:Stayed here 3 weeks ago and booked a single room, last week booked a double room online and got the EXACT same size room. Confused as to how a single room and double room are the same size when prices were different.

Review 75:quick check in and check out.. clean hotel and spotless bedroom.

Review 76:No bad thing to say about anything got my money's worth Keep up the good work

Review 77:First time staying in the hotel as its in a great location staff was fantastic and extremely helpful, the king size bed was huge spotless room food was fantastic

Review 78:Nice rooms close to all the local sights. Easy access to restaurants and pubs. Restaurant in the hotel has a nice breakfast for about 8€ and good bartenders

Review 79:A bit noisy from the street. Windows could be better insulated. The double room was quite small with studded partition.

Review 80:Very central location with a good atmosphere about it. Breakfast 1st class with friendly staff.

Review 81:Everything was good, from check in to checking out.We had booked the weekend special with a 4course evening meal which was excellent value, and served with a glass of wine. Breakfast was one of the best ,lots of choice and served to your table, a welcome change from a buffet which is cold by the time you get to your table. I would definitely book and recommend this hotel for a weekend in Limerick. All staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful during our stay. We were a group of 8 people and everyone was happy with our stay. Thank you .

Review 82:I loved the overall ambience of the hotel, along with the heated seat in the garden bar! My sister was thrilled there was a laundry. The staff were very pleasant and very helpful. We planned to head out for dinner, but stayed in the hotel because it was so lovely. The room was very comfortable, with plenty of room for two people and all our stuff.

Review 83:There were a lot of hens so quite busy in lobby all afternoon. A lot of sharp corners in bedroom and furniture was all to one side of room. Parking costs €7.50 per day. It is close to hotel though.

Review 84:Nice hotel in the city centre. Good buzz and reasonably priced. Housekeeping staff were friendly.

Review 85:The staff on arrival were fantastic. I had stayed there a week previous to my last stay and the receptionist a blonde lady remembered me which was a nice touch. Spotless rooms would definitely return.

Review 86:The staff at reception were very rude. We asked for an invoice becausewe were travelling for work. They did it wrong four times and even afterfive days they still did it wrong. We asked to be placed in quite rooms, instead they put us right over the smoking area. When the wifi wouldn´twork the receptionist spoke to my employer like he was dumb. The wifididn´t work because there was a problem with the router yet she took twodays to tell anyone to fix it. Then, when we tried to park, the parkingwas closed. A waitor had to come and open it. This hotel had a goodreputation but since it changed owner it has gone down. The main problemwe had were two blonde women at reception. Possibly the rudest people wehave ever encountered. We will not be returning.

Review 87:The staff in the bar/ restaurant were friendly.

Review 88:Smoking area a little noisy at night time - our rooms were over the smoking area.

Review 89:The staff were very helpful and friendly. We could not fault the hotel

Review 90:Room was small.Shower gel was broken and phone line didn't wiork the 2nd day.But it all compensated for the location and price

Review 91:Receptionist was so good.Gave us good info.

Review 92:Had no dislikes. .

Review 93:We stayed 2 nights at this hotel rooms were lovely clean .food was great and staff very friendly and helpful will defnately be visiting this hotel again and would recommend to anyone

Review 94:Lady at reception with blonde hair was very rude and dismissive, her attitude does not apply to the rest of the staff. Other lady at reception called Sinead was very kind and friendly. Didn't like the unavailability of rooms as we arrived 1 hour before the regular check in time. (When booking was made I requested for early check in)

Review 95:Perfect location. Beautiful hotel. Good value for money.

Review 96:We were lead to believe that the parking $ would be added to our final account, however, when we left the public car park, we were charged additional 5 euro.

Review 97:No one would help us to find out where we could park. Out of all the staff we were dealing with during our stay there was only one nice and polite girl who actually cared.

Review 98:Good location and great looking hotel.

Review 99:Poor staff customer service Noisy at night The bar sounded like a nightclub even though there was hardly anyone in it. Think twice Not very boutque at all

Review 100:Central

Review 101:The WiFi was incredibly slow and the shower was like a pop-up version that left a giant puddle on the bathroom floor when used.

Review 102:The beds were very comfortable

Review 103:It had advertised for a smoking room so I booked one. When I arrived I was told all rooms were non smoking. So please do not advertise for smoking rooms when there not. I even put on my special requests I wanted a smoking its very annoying to arrive at your destination to find out that they have only non smoking

Review 104:Everything except my complaint outlined below

Review 105:Very helpful staff, excellent location!!! A little loud on Friday night, but we had our windows open. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Limerick

Review 106:Situated right in the centre within walking distance of everything. Our room was clean, comfortable, smart and stylish. The restaurant had great atmosphere and delicious food, served by friendly staff.

Review 107:The music front the bar could be heard until midnight. While it was great to have a guest laundry facility on our floor, the machines didn't work very well.

Review 108:Good location and the restaurant was very good.

Review 109:Parking was only covered until 8am next morning. Had to pay extra & wasn't informed in advance? Bed frame badly designed for small room, kept hitting my foot on cornrt

Review 110:There was nothing that I didn't like or enjoy about my Stay.

Review 111:The Location of the Hotel was Great, Staff could not do enough forGuest's, nothing was any trouble for them. The Irish are the mostwelcoming, friendly people I have ever met, can't wait to return.

Review 112:The room we were booked in was tiny compared to the Savoy twin room.. But everything else is superb

Review 113:! Location is great! Felt secured coming in too as our names were checked by the staff before they let us in

Review 114:The bed was so so uncomfortable it had a dip in it once you lie down you fall into the dip that we could not sleep. They need to replace the mattress but other wise it's a lovely hotel

Review 115:Hotel location is excellent

Review 116:Only fault would be that the room was bit to small for 3 people. But the rooms were lovely an so clean.

Review 117:The George boutique hotel was a lovely place to spend a weekend with my friends. Central, friendly and offered everything that made our stay wonderful.

Review 118:Breakfast was only ok

Review 119:A young red haired boy who bought us our drinks and was flying around working hard all evening was so pleasent n obligeing we thought he was excellent and the lady on reception and james all fantastic

Review 120:too short a time in Limerick!

Review 121:Great location, lovely staff, great city. Wish we had more time to explore. Loved King John's castle and the Gunning antique shop.

Review 122:Internet in rooms was very poor. Hard to connect and then mostly didn't work and when it did it was very slow

Review 123:Quick and easy check in. Pretty good location offering free parking in nearby station.

Review 124:The behaviour of 1 member of staff to another member of staff in front of costumers which should not happen

Review 125:What a fabulous hotel to stay in would highly recommed it to stay in clean friendly staff well worth a check if visiting limerick

Review 126:Room was too hot and air con wasn't very effective

Review 127:Very central location, the reception staff were very friendly & helpful. Room was very clean, good selection of teas & coffee in the room.

Review 128:Room was small but made even smaller by some of the furniture being too large for room I.e circular table being placed at end of bed & obstructing passage. While the rooms in boutique hotels are typically small attention is required in selecting appropriate sized furniture

Review 129:Central location

Review 130:Double "standard" room is laughable. Tiny room, tiny bed and TV- claustrophobic but would be fine for a solo traveller. I guess u get what u pay for. Luckily staff were very nice and moved us to a king spacious room. Parking is not included.

Review 131:Modern, clean. Nice staff.

Review 132:This wasn't a bad experience because we noticed it all the hotels we stayed in on our visit to Ireland but.....there were no face cloths in the room. Hand towels and bath towels but no face cloths. In any hotel we stayed at in Ireland. I found it a little different as were used to having them everywhere we've ever stayed. I will remember to bring them next time!

Review 133:Nicely decorated. I loved the fact that my maiden name is O'Connell and my husbands name is George. That's how we picked the hotel. We said it was meant to be!!! And it was a lovely hotel! We will definitely stay there again.
