Reviews for The Green Hotel
Review 1:The staff was always busy, and I stayed only 2 days in the hotel, during those days I could not ask one single question to the reception because they were always having problems with other guests. Staff from the restaurant was also very rude and didn't like when you ask questions about anything. I wouldn't stay there again.
Review 2:The hotel has a beautiful property. Food was good.
Review 3:The hotel is by a major road and is quite noisy from the nearby traffic. Annex rooms in particular are not that soundproof but it is an old building full of charm
Review 4:The hotel & rooms were lovely and located around a garden where you could dine al fresco. Staff were all very friendly and immaculate in their uniforms. Also the profits go to a number of local charities.
Review 5:Hotel rooms (we had 2) were dirty and dusty. 2 of us in separate rooms got rashes and bug bites from the bed. It was truly a miserable experience.
Review 6:Garden was nice.
Review 7:Maybe we expected a bit much, but the overall experience was mediocre for the price. Also, we were asked to pay more than the Booking.com price (on top of the tax, which we were expecting.). Ultimately we were given the Booing price, but only after tense conversation.
Review 8:We loved the coffee shop. Very good coffee and excellent baked goods. (We only wish the quality and management of the hotel was as good.) We like the Eco and social justice commitment of the hotel, although the overall vibe did not match this positive vision.
Review 9:Stay in the main house. It's sooo beautiful. Don't miss the atrium cake shop. Go upstairs too. Lovely garden. Loved the breakfasts. Ahmed, a driver there, is very kind. The staff are all lovely. Wasn't too interested in seeing Mysore as happy to relax there!
Review 10:Just noisy Mysore traffic outside, but not hotel's fault.
Review 11:Beautiful former royal residence, then film studio. We stayed in two rooms in main house and had liads of georgous space, serenity and traditional colonial architecture. Wonderful staff, so helpful. The place has soul and is an oasis in a busy city. Loved the breakfasts (indian & Western) but their cocktails were rubbish. Maybe the bartender was out that hour.
Review 12:Beds are a little hard. Softer beds would be a little more comfortable for the traveler. Also, they declined to provide the discounted rate that booking.com had provided me.
Review 13:An old property which used to be a film studio. Property is quite well maintained and the huge lawns are quite an attraction for kids.
Review 14:The hotel is situated on a busy road which results in a lot of noise and honking that can be heard well in the hotel.but you get used to it after a night!
Review 15:The hotel is beautiful with corteous and friendly staff. Beautiful setup with lovely garden and restaurant.
Review 16:Traffic noise.
Review 17:Lovely garden. Building originally a palace and then film studio. Very friendly and homely, safe place to stay. Staff always helpful.
Review 18:Wonderfully elegant property. Like living in another era. Lovely garden to relax in. Staff very friendly and helpful. We like the ethos and profits going to charity.
Review 19:Iffy wifi. A bit hot in midday -no ac.
Review 20:Green Hotel is a lovely property. The decor is inviting. The rooms are colorful and comfortable. Good hot water and shower pressure - westernized bathrooms. Good variety of choices for breakfast. Excellent dinner. Our guide/driver, Ahmed, was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The entire staff was like him: friendly and helpful. Don't miss the carrot cske from the bakery
Review 21:Internet is iffy, but that's true in most of India.
Review 22:The staff is super friendly and attentive, the grounds and main building are lovely. The food is excellent. Our rooms were comfortable, spacious, and spotlessly clean. Best of all was our driver and tour guide, Ahmed. He was kind, helpful, knowledgeable, caring, and friendly. The best we encountered in a 17 day stay in India! We love that the bakery supports women bettering their lives.
Review 23:A lot of families we saw had young children.A Play area of a games areawould help
Review 24:1.Minimalistic philosophy, much reduced wastage (no free newspapers, shampoos etc ,most of which gets wasted anyway )2.Good upkeep and development of the green areas, flower beds, ivy creepers etc 3Simple down to approach of the staff, helpful but not effusive 4.Friendly ,trusting reception staff 5.Fairly good selection on the restaurant menu 6 Good upkeep of the period furniture and ambience 6 Understated style, hard to locate the hotel when you drive by at night
Review 25:Breakfast needs attention.
Review 26:Excellent staff and quick responsiveness well done to the hotel owners for a fabulous hospitality arrangements. Food is exceptional.
Review 27:The WiFi reception is truly awful! WiFi is described as 'Free WiFi' it is almost WiFi free, this won't do in 2015! Some guests could not book or download tickets.
Review 28:The quality of the food and the staff is high and there is on one area to sit outside.
Review 29:a bit outside the city center, pricey
Review 30:Great garden, comfy rooms with hot shower (not so common in India :) ), peaceful stay, absolutely fabulous food, helpful staff
Review 31:The noise! Situated on a very busy junction, barking dogs throughout the night.(bring ear plugs) We felt the room was overpriced, very uncomfortable beds. Service was also extremely slow, we ate in other establishments in the end which was a shame as the food was really good.
Review 32:We thought the main hotel building was full of character. The food was very good for sensible prices. The cafe was very pleasant with good home made produce. Staff were very friendly. Good internet.
Review 33:The Internet connection was never very good during our stay. Only worked at 4am.
Review 34:I love the room and the breakfast and the monkeys! The whole place is great and really good for kids who need to run around a bit. I love it so much!
Review 35:Barking dogs (confined somewhere nearby) every night from 10pm - 6am. Having open screens (no glass) on top third of windows and doors exacerbated the issue.
Review 36:It is an older hotel with the spirit of the new: it's green and apparently non profit. We liked the old India atmosphere knowing that we supported something positive.
Review 37:There could be a small television. The kamode needs to have the facility to for wash without using hands. Mobile charging points need to be handy preferably closer to the bed. Most important, need to address the noise pollution. The vehicle noise is too loud and doesn't let you sleep. The howling of dogs during mid night is too scary and very annoying.
Review 38:We liked the overall heritage ambience. The breakfast was really good. The staff were extremely polite and caring.
Review 39:No A/C No TV Bath Room shower curtain(short)- wet floor Room Rent high for value of the property
Review 40:Greenery--Flower garden Staff Food Location
Review 41:Nothing
Review 42:The property has horticulture done at its best, the array of flowers is so beautifully done. The staff is very cooperative. Food is excellent Overall stay is very pleasant and refreshing with the green environment Everything is just perfect
Review 43:The food was mediocre. The worst was the noise in that place. The basic purpose of a hotel is accommodation and sleep. With the traffic noise you just can't do that it seems to be more to do with the acoustics of the place rather than the traffic itself. Some serious work on sound proofing is required
Review 44:The service and demeanour of the personnel was excellent. We were made to feel at home right from the start. They agreed for an early check in and were welcoming. The manager mithun was great
Review 45:Food was very average.
Review 46:Ambience and location Living in a palace Go for the premier rooms which were the prince's rooms. The lower cost rooms are the erstwhile travellers quarters. Cramped bathrooms.
Review 47:A little out of town (about 15 minutes with a rickshaw).
Review 48:Lovely room, friendly staff and a beautiful garden area for meals and drinks.
Review 49:Overpriced, noisy, food so so, front desk gaming us about reservation, not honest in dealings
Review 50:Architecture and garden
Review 51:Super nice and helpfull staff.
Review 52:The Hotel had lost our booking and could only offer a more expensive room (at a larger cost).
Review 53:The noise of the main road.
Review 54:Excellent shower and comfortable beds. Food also very reasonably priced and delicious, lovely Al fresco dining.
Review 55:No air conditioning. Room not in the main building.
Review 56:The hotel has a rustic charm of old times. Big rooms. Good campus.
Review 57:not clear from the website/booking side which rooms are in the heritage building and which rooms are in the "new" building.
Review 58:great garden
Review 59:Nice people staying and the charity status and what they did seemed a good thing
Review 60:Eating in the garden restaurant after dark.
Review 61:Need to provide TV in the rooms
Review 62:Hotel with lush greenery and serene surroundings
Review 63:I was initially over charged for our stay, but they call me back to give me a refund once they'd realised. Honest people.
