Reviews for Chinthurst Guest House
Review 1:Having to leave
Review 2:The warm welcome and the very friendly atmosphere. The proximity to the town centre and the good local knowledge. Excellent breakfasts!
Review 3:Thoroughly enjoyed hostess Hazel'e humour and personality and her historical knowledge. Also we enjoyed a great breakfast with a mulitude of choices. Would definitely stay here again when next in the vicinity.
Review 4:Indifferent landlady, very curt, and her dog actually came with her in our bedroom. Average hospitality tray.
Review 5:Excellent location, free parking, nicely furnished
Review 6:The wifi didn't work extremely well, but it did the job.
Review 7:A lovely accommodation - felt like a big, warm house and very cosy. Breakfast was great and it was nice to see that they used local produce. Nice range of food and very tasty. Comfortable sized rooms and very clean. They made a mistake with or booking for the 3rd night so we got an upgrade to the executive suite! That was nice!
Review 8:We did not give a time of arrival so there was no one at the guest house to receive us. We were told (after a phone call was made) to go for a walk round and someone would meet us within the hour. We were then told by the owner that booking in time was between 4 and 6 (we had arrived at 11.30!! ) for a 1 night stay and at £135 an expensive stay for short time we were there, which would have been even shorter had we booked in at 4 or 6!! We also found the attitude of the owner very curt towards us. The property is for sale, but that is not an excuse for rudeness!!
Review 9:Location was great with a 5 mins walk into Skipton Very comfortable bed and a lovely breakfast.
Review 10:Excellent friendly welcome, super bedroom and en suite, great breakfast. convenient location with off road parking a bonus. Definitely would recommend.
Review 11:Not easy to find if you walk from the train station. Take a taxi! On the other hand, it is in a great location to walk to the local historical sites and do some shopping.
Review 12:Hostess was welcoming despite our sodden state and somewhat late arrival. She was very helpful despite our short stay (a single night). She is clearly a lover of the local history and talks about it eloquently. The room was wonderfully appointed and the breakfast was superb. An atmosphere of luxury throughout.
Review 13:Nothing to complain. This is our second bisit!
Review 14:The location of this B&B to Skipton town; excellent breakfast; excellent comfort of room and amenities.
Review 15:Would have liked a good light to read by. Would have liked a blind for bedroom windows but really everything was great
Review 16:Superb breakfast Great spacious bathroom with a bath
Review 17:Rather impersonal with keylock entry after 6.00, so saw no-one until breakfast. Wi-Fi connection intermittent in bedroom.
Review 18:Excellent breakfast choices. Easy walking distance to town Spacious room
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:It is only a short walk into the centre of Skipton. The rooms are delightfully decorated and clean, the bed lovely and comfortable. There was a good choice for breakfast and the lovely Yorkshire hospitality completed a good nights stop-over. There is also plenty of free parking and the wifi worked very well
Review 21:Slight problem with the T.V in our room but that was soon remedied.
Review 22:The cleanliness, breakfast had excellent choice, staff can't do enough for you.
Review 23:We had a lovely stay at the chinthurst it was very clean and comfy and the hostess could not do enough to help us enjoy our stay, highly recommend the chinthurst
Review 24:Lots of plumbing noises from room above.Needed more choice on cooked breakfast
Review 25:Nice room on ground floor with easy access to town centre and eating places.Good choice of starters at breakfast, cooked breakfast nice and hot.
Review 26:The beds were uncomfortable - very firm! The towels didn't smell very nice when they were wet and when I dried my face with them, I could smell a smelly wet dishcloth smell. I had to wash again and dry with towelling bathrobe which smelt ok. Also, we had 2 mornings of breakfasts and each time we both requested poached eggs but was given fried eggs - we have been in catering and know the difference!!!!!
Review 27:Good location and very clean.
Review 28:Very warm welcome from the owner. Service is attentive but never intrusive. Accomodation has personality and is spotlessly clean and comfortable. The well stocked honesty bar is a nice touch.
Review 29:Because reception is only open for a couple of hours and we arrived at 8.30pm we didn't like the system of getting into the house. We were trying to get in for a good 5 mins. Couldn't see the numbers to put in the code as there was no light and it was dark. If I'd been on my own I couldn't have done it. In fact we were about to give up and start banging on the door when eventually my husband managed to get the numbers lined up correctly.
Review 30:It was clean and comfortable with a queen size bed which for us was a priority. The owner was very helpful and unusually kind.
Review 31:Good location five mins away from main street. Traditional furniture and fixture gave the property character. The staff were very friendly and the little extras were very thoughtful such as a bottle of water each and a cabinet full of DVDs to play if weather was bad.
Review 32:all was very good no dislikes
Review 33:A lovley bedroom with a 4 poster bed which was huge, all the furniture was Victorian .A good clean bathroom with all facilities.Bathrobes was provided.
Review 34:My only problem was the bed. It was too soft.
Review 35:Great location on edge of the town, easy walk to shops and restaurants. excellent staff. Very friendly. Stayed in room 4 which was amazing. Great view of the sunset from the room.
Review 36:wasn't sure what to expect of a 5 star guest house, but I did think there would be face flannels supplied. A bit of a nuisance having to serve our own coffee- would have been a nice touch to have had the first cup poured, at least. Tomatoes in full english were served raw, which I have never come across before
Review 37:nicely furnished good variety of breakfast items fresh milk for drinks in room warm, quiet room use of bath robes
Review 38:Disappointing that wi-fi not in rooms. No lounge room to sit and access wi-fi.
Review 39:The very welcoming attention given on arrival. Very good accommodation and clean. Breakfast excellent.
Review 40:Would have liked a later breakfast time for a weekend stay.eg 8-10am. Pet dog poohing on hall carpet.

Review 43:Ha Ha,The Butter !! Awful !!!! but was informed by our Hostess that it was a locally made speciality !! Think he must of dropped his wellies in it !!
Review 44:Nice, pleasant B+B well situated, wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Review 45:I know I'm super-sensitive but perhaps new pillows?
Review 46:We were made to feel very welcome. Chinthurst is a lovely old house furnished in period style with all mod.cons. The breakfasts were excellent even for me who just has a continental breakfast. We would certainly recommend staying here if you want a quiet place yet only 5 minutes walk into town.
Review 47:Being put in a conversion at the back of the house which should attract a cheaper price.
Review 48:Stayed last year in a beautiful luxury room in the main house and decided to go back again this year. Although we booked a luxury room in accordance with the website and we assumed in the main house we were put in a converted outhouse round the back with no view and windows in the ceiling. General cleanliness in this room was not up to last years standard in the main house. The emergency lighting on the ceiling glowed bright green at night affecting our sleep. Would not go back again.
Review 49:Hard towels should be put indryer to soften Haveing to do your own toast in morning and pouring your own coffee we have stayed other b&b in skipton four times this year but chinthurst was the dearest but we were waited on in the other places perhaps furniture not so beautifull but would rather stay at the other places for homelyness and friendlyness.
Review 50:The room was lovely and cleaned to perfection funiture beautiful bed not to bad house lovely.
Review 51:Very friendly, large comfortable rooms, walking distance to all the sights. Splendid breakfast choice, quiet location, proprietess with marvelous sence of humor and a nice eye for 'extras'
Review 52:Bed mattress was too soft for our liking, most places seem to havemodern firm ones now, we were asked to pay in advance which we foundodd, so I paid by credit card just in case there was a problem, butactually good B&B would stay again

Review 54:Very uncomfortable chairs in the dining room.
Review 55:Great location, Great breakfast with extensive choice. Very comfortable bed. Lovely room and lovely bathroom. Beds were made each day. Good selection of dvds and books to use. Plenty tea, coffee biscuits in the room.
Review 56:This guesthouse is superb & we would definitely stay again. Incredibly comfortable bed with wonderful egyptian cotton sheets, crystal wine glasses, flutes and bottle opener supplied in the room (never had that before!), the most amazing breakfast including homemade bread and 9 different types of delicious homemade jam and a really cheery, welcoming hostess. Also less than 5 minutes walk into the centre of lovely Skipton.
Review 57:Everything An ideal Bed & Breakfast, close to town with parking for several cars. The Owner was friendly and helpful and the accomodation was ideal.
Review 58:Small thing- the emergency exit light made the room glow green and was irritating as it was too bright.

Review 60:Nothing, would stay there again.
Review 61:Room was very comfortable and clean. We were made very welcome. It was an easy walk into the town and parking was good. Breakfast of a high quality.

Review 70:It was a very hot day and the window didn't give enough air to the room. But willing to accept that the weather was exceptionally hot.
Review 71:Absolutely first class welcome.Room was spotlessly clean and quite adequate for our stay. Loved the white company toiletries. Breakfast was outstanding.Have sourced the granola and are having it sent to us.
Review 72:Bathroom needed more shelves - we ended up with washbags on the floor. The shelf over the sink was at an akward height so you hit your head. Disliked the mixer tap design as it was right over the plughole
