Reviews for Rendezvous At Skipton
Review 1:The room was nothing special and was out dated. The bathroom was very basic and a bit grubby.
Review 2:The location was very nice on the canal. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 3:As a family of five, we arrived on a rainy Sunday for a two night stay, checked in and went to our adjoining rooms only to find that the wi-fi wasn't working. Given that we were travelling through Yorkshire and beyond without a GPS-equipped hire car and relied on the advertised wi-fi for maps and general tourist information, I immediately went down to reception to ask what the problem was. Apparently there was a modem/similar issue. When I asked if it could be resolved that evening with the service provider, I was told that resolution of the issue would have to wait until business hours the next day. ISP troubleshooting is surely available at all times; however, I don't believe the hotel staff were sufficiently motivated to instigate this course of action. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay in Skipton.
Review 4:The location.
Review 5:not much atmosphere in the lounge area and felt more like a waiting room. Was happy to stay for one night but would not have liked to stay longer
Review 6:comfortable room, good tea and coffee facilities and nice size tv in room, very good breakfast
Review 7:At least 3 sets of double doors, each opening in a different direction, between lift and room. Sink in bathroom too low. Lots of plates/dishes in the restaurant were not 100% clean.
Review 8:Excellent breakfast in restaurant overlooking the canal. Very big room (had a double and 2 single beds in it)
Review 9:On Monday 14th December ,I was booked in for a double room but was switched to a small open plan suit on the 4th floor, the room was tired, the velux window had clearly been leaking for some time ( stain on the carpet) ,The window leaked/dripped all night and I ended up placing all the towels on the floor to stem the dripping noise. There was also a incident outside my room at 4.00pm where the fire alarm went off as the roof ceilings collapsed outside on the corridor, due to a leaking valve( yet they failed to evacuate me or even knock on the door). I reported this in the morning to the duty manager Leann, and was astounded by her attitude , total disrespect and dismissive, She didn't accept that the leak from the window was a previous long term issue, as she hadn't received any other complaints, I told her that I was a building surveyor and he response was "to come back later as clearly I was tired and irritable". I had to request a room transfer and when told to collect my belongings myself and move them myself ,I told the manager I was late for work and she had to move my belongings ,she was more abrupt stating that she had been called in at 3.00pm to deal with the room flooding's. This manager then went on to insult a member of my staff the following night over a totally separate incident ( witnessed by 11 other guests). I and my staff were due to stay for 4 nights but checked out after 3 .I spoke to the general manager when checking out and she was very professional and assured me she would look into the incidents. As a regular business traveller , I have never met such a rude manager ( Leann) who in my opinion, requires totally re training in her manners and job role . .
Review 10:I enjoyed the gym facilities
Review 11:My Mum who was moving to the area stayed here whilst moving into her new place and they could not do enough to help her. It was very reassuring for us both that they were there to help with anything on hand. I am very grateful. Above and beyond normal service thank you.
Review 12:the rain !!! everything else was great.
Review 13:Staff cheery and helpful. Evening meal very good and waiters excellent. Room very comfy. Underfloor heating in bathroom. canal view was good.
Review 14:Nothing
Review 15:We were able to have early check-in at noon at no extra charge. The staff both on reception and in the restaurant 'Baby Swan' were very friendly and helpful. We were given a lovely room overlooking the canal. Use of the facilities ; indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were included in the price of the room and were open until 10 pm!
Review 16:waited 90 minutes when room wasnt ready..room was dated, noisy, two unlocked doors to attic?..and not the cleanest ive seen.def not worth the money, wont be staying there again
Review 17:good breakfast
Review 18:25min walk to town along road - alternative towpath very boggy. Shower leaked. Car park very busy.
Review 19:Swimming pool good. Room good, clean and we'll equipped. Skipton very nice place to visit and walking possibilities very good
Review 20:We had no hot water for two days I couldn't wash my hair was having it done by stylus , we had cold showers , it was dirty in the rooms not cleaned hair in draws ..most of the main family members had cold water we had a wedding there no heating in few rooms no of rooms o hot water and we needed the water at 4 am as the wedding started at 8 .., was so dissPointed waste of money waste of Haurdressers time I had to pay felt dirty at the wedding ,no hand towels on the rooms very disappointed
Review 21:The staff were brilliant as attended s family wedding well most of them
Review 22:No one can predict the weather ,but it would be wise to take the tables from the front canopy, they rolled around in the wind all night ,our room was above that canopy
Review 23:We loved everything about the Hotel as we have stayed previously , unfortunately we had a very uncomfortable bed ,which we have not had in the past room .
Review 24:The indifference to my complaint I just was not taken seriously
Review 25:I was charged two different prices for the same round of drinks i.e. first round 10 pounds second round 8.90 I complained nothing was done no apology or redress
Review 26:One particular receptionist was very rude The fact room service charged 5.00 to carry a tray one floor up from restaurant Attention to detail of cleaning in room, and evening porters choice of words to describe his life when lifts broke
Review 27:Room was of a fair size so not cramped
Review 28:We liked the rRestaurant situation (overlooking canal and countryside). There was plenty of car-parking space. The public lounge areas were pleasant and comfortable.
Review 29:Nothing,although fire alarm went off at midnight but that's not a bad thing.
Review 30:Very helpful staff food and drink well priced, room clean and comfortable, lim from skipton born and bred so vist family often and will stay here from now on.
Review 31:Absolutely lovely hotel... I little bit outside of Skipton but no more than a 20 minute walk. Right next door to Omar Khan's (yummy Indian food) and there is even an ATM there. But the best part... the SPA! There is a large pool, a shallow pool, a jacuzzi, a steam room, and a sauna! It was absolutely lovely and not too crowded! We had a top floor room which was very large! And was so bright with 2 sunlights! The bathroom was big with a shower and a tub... perfect! It was perfect! Thank you so much :)
Review 32:Nothing to dislike, staff all well drilled an experienced
Review 33:Dining in this hotel is an experience to behold. The Chef should be congratulated along with the serving staff for the excellent cooking and presentation of the food
Review 34:Booked two rooms as we are a family of five - however, although on the same floor, they were as far away from each other as was possible to be (one room being in a newer annexe). To be fair, a slight inconvenience only!
Review 35:Quirky hotel, like that it is independent and not part of a chain. Clean and comfortable rooms and beds. Quiet, although there was a function happening on the same floor as our rooms. Staff were welcoming. We didn't eat there so can't comment on the food.
Review 36:Each room card key didn't work every time we tried it. We had to be let in by star on each occasion. Very frustrating.
Review 37:breakfast, bar, entertainment looked good although we didn't use it.
Review 38:Leaflet Said pool was open till 9pm & last in at 8pm when in fact we arrived at 7 pm and had to get out at 7.45 so felt rushed.
Review 39:Quiet room overlooking canal
Review 40:The location suited the purpose of our short walking holiday. It's lovely after a long day walking to be able to use the leisure facilities eg the pool, sauna and hot tub.
Review 41:We were in a top floor room overlooking an industrial estate with roadside noise from roof light ventilation slot. Get a back room overlooking the canal for a fantastic hill view.
Review 42:The staff were very helpful and responsive to particular requests. There is a pleasant canal side walk into the centre of Skipton. Be careful if it is wet.
Review 43:Very friendly efficient staff who were extremely pleasant. Evening dinner was of a great standard and the breakfast buffet was very good too. We had a canal view room and were able to watch the narrow boats sailing past.
Review 44:Reception staff and bar maid didn't crack a smile or make us feel welcome.
Review 45:Nice view of the canal in the restaurant. Room was quiet even though close to the road.
Review 46:no complaints at all
Review 47:The room was modern and had everything easily at hand. Staff were really helpful and we had a fantastic time. The breakfasts were spot on with quality products, the braised tomatoes were lovely - thanks we will return.
Review 48:After a 6 hour car journey I arrived in my ground floor room to discovertwo huge skips filled with builders rubbish directly outside the Frenchwindows. I was then told the hotel was full, so I asked for a reductionin price. I was then moved to a fourth floor room with road noise and anancient and difficult to open velux window. Cooked breakfast was justwarm. Coffee good, bed good, price extortionate for what I had received.
Review 49:The countryside and view from dining room.
Review 50:not BAD, but inconvenient... we needed an early call, which was booked, but not received.Staff said they would look into this, but the second day the same happened. Otherwise, everything great.
Review 51:friendly helpful staff. Beautiful location
Review 52:The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the room was spacious with a very comfortable bed . will recommend to family and friends, look to stay again in the future.
Review 53:Lovely views from dining table overlooking canal and hills. Same table each day with good service. Nice staff. Large rooms with king size bed. Lovely reception and bar areas.
Review 54:Bar price's where disgustingly over priced,a pint I can live with at £3.30 but a double Vodka with tonic £9-30 absolutely outrageous its daylight robbery, but also a shame as I would love to stay again but I wont be ripped off
Review 55:The location, the hotel in general
Review 56:There was a wedding party at the hotel and they seemed to fill up the hotel with not much left over for other guests The food in the restaurant looked good on the menu but a bit disappointing on the plate
Review 57:The room was comfortable with a view of the canal Twenty minute walk along the canal to the town and station was nice, until it rained The pool and leisure centre was good.
Review 58:ask for a back room front and side are noisy from the road.room was too hot and window only open a fraction . so we requested a electric fan.
Review 59:has great leisure facility. bar snacks were good
Review 60:No bad experiences.
Review 61:The location as a base for touring the surrounding countryside. Large enough room to stay in when weather was inclement. Facilities in the room were good. Top floor overlooking the canal & countryside brilliant.
Review 62:we know you were busy but all we got was sorry room not ready although we arrived at 1.15 we never got checked in till 2.30 and it wasn't the girl on reception who sorted us out it was a co llege of hers who was superb.
Review 63:have stopped there about 4 times now and always enjoy even the walk into Skipton don't care if it rains
Review 64:being in a room overlooking the canal was just perfect and we also ate in the conservatory overlooking canal superb. Hotel was perfect. Would have been nice if the piano had been used during our stay. A quiz in the bar would have been good on rainy evenings.
Review 65:Staff under massive pressure in bar area took ages for someone to come and serve us. The bed was so uncomfortable and could not get a good nights rest. The water was discoloured. The music in the hallway played until late at night which made it difficult to sleep
Review 66:The Location
Review 67:We consider it rather dangerous not having a well defined route on the stairs in case of fire etc..We could not find our way down the stairs from floor five & had to ask a member of staff..VERY DANGEROUS INDEED!!
Review 68:Good location
Review 69:Continental breakfast was limited no fresh fruit, bread, cheese or ham or danish pastries. but English breakfast was very good.
Review 70:The view over the canal across the hillside
Review 71:Unfortunately, we had to wait for a table to be free at breakfast time, but apparently there are plans to enlarge the dining area which will improve things. The hotel décor looks a bit tired, but this didn't spoil our stay.
Review 72:The bed was very firm.. and hotel didn't even have mattress topper to help.. they did try a duvet on top but didn't help
Review 73:Food, staff & location all excellent.
Review 74:Pool out of action but we were made aware before arriving. Parking was full when we arrived but sorted fairly quickly. No air conditioning.
Review 75:Nice room, good views, quiet. Lovely location. Walk into Skipton along the canal.
Review 76:We stayed here as a family and loved it so much I treated my mum to a night there too. She was impressed too and had a lovely relaxing time. Would highly recommend this hotel - staff were absolutely fantastic
Review 77:Bathrooms and some of the hotel is tired looking and out dated. Had to run hot water for a long time and not enough toiletries for 2 people.
Review 78:Staff very friendly and breakfast good and plenty of it.
Review 79:Check in was disappointing , no conversation,no information provided, asked about changing room option to be told we should have requested this earlier. Check out was a much better customer experience with the staff chatting to you.
Review 80:Receptionist unfriendly at check-in & check-out, uncomfortable bed, swimming pool very crowded.
Review 81:Room good size, clean & tidy throughout, breakfast staff very helpful & friendly.
Review 82:In my honest opinion this has to be the best hotel I've stayed in. I can't fault it at all. As a woman on my own, I felt very comfortable and at ease. I enjoyed using the leisure pool and the breakfast was wonderful - it set my up for the day.
Review 83:The hotel is dated, mould was highly prominent in the bathroom. Room smelt, no heating, extractor fan didn't work and wallpaper was peeling. Hygiene was worrying and we left as soon as possible. Very overpriced... travel lodge is of a much higher standard and lower cost. Never again! Would have left on arrival if we hadn't been so tired from travelling.
Review 84:Staff tried to help as much as possible and admitted fault.
Review 85:Big old hotel, with a dated feel to it. Quite a maze and not easy to find your room. Named function suites are signposted all over, but bedroom numbers are less easy to find.
Review 86:The welcome was friendly and all staff I spoke to were unfailingly polite, cheerful and efficient. My room was big and clean, with a well fitted bathroom. Promised canal view was surprisingly close, and the hills beyond were scenic. The bar was not expensive, though sometimes you had to ring for a barman. The restaurant was good with a lovely view from the conservatory tables. Staff managed my expectations well - I was warned that there may be a ten minute delay, because many of my fellow guests had decided to ignore their booked times and all arrive at the same time. I settled back for a long wait but the staff coped well with the surge of guests and I was served speedily and efficiently. A good choice of menu, and a good range of wines at moderate prices. Hot breakfast was buffet style and good.
Review 87:Felt that the Leisure complex needed an upgrade and definitely a good clean. Rather depressing with poor light and outdated window motifs. Just needs to be updated. Changing facilities likewise. One of the showers was broken (couldn't regulate the temperature) so un-usable (in Ladies).
Review 88:Lovely setting alongside the Canal. Really good sized bedroom with two seating chairs - thanks for that.
Review 89:Bathroom dirty, dated. Leak on floor carpet wet. Windows dirty. Extremely noisy. Bar glasses dirty. Advert free parking but no spaces on site.
Review 90:Staff really friendly. Breakfast good. The place let the staff down.
Review 91:Morning member of staff on reception didnt look like she was enjoying her day
Review 92:Location great pleasant and friendly staff. Only stayed one day and was out all that time so didnt get the chance to take in all the hotels amenities. Was aware of gym facilities and bar available but didnt get chance to use them
Review 93:Room dirty, access to the roof space not blocked off from our room, opened the little door to find it was full of rubbish files and paperwork. Room boiling. Noisy from function below.9:35 for a gin and beer. Absolute rip off! No parking spaces. Stayed 516. Avoid!
Review 94:Nothing.
Review 95:Not very close to town. Staff polite but not very friendly. A bit pricey - bar expensive. Breakfast should be included in price.
Review 96:Comfort and cleanliness. Quiet beside bedrooms.
Review 97:There was a member of staff on the desk when we checked in who was very poor and unable to answer the basic questions. He was very unhelpful especially when there was a mix up with the room/booking.
Review 98:The rest of the staff were excellent. The location was superb and the facilities were great. The rooms were clean and even though there was a mistake it was rectified quickly. The Leisure centre was ace.
Review 99:Asked for lower level and paid extra for canal view but was given the 5th floor!! which had extra steps to access it. A small window roughly 3ft sq so could not see the canal, an attic room!!! What a rip off!! Room was changed to a 4th floor but at least we could see the canal. Bathroom toiletries were minimal. If one needed a shower cap you had to ask reception there were none in the room nor was there any shower gel and if you needed a rubber bath mat guess who you asked the Reception!! They do not supply them only on request, never known that before. The tinsey bar of soap was about an inch round and two little phials of shampoo and conditioner wouldn't even wash one persons hair. Our bill showed 2 different prices for the same room, when I asked the girl she said it was because they were busy and so the rate went up. The menu wasn't very inspiring either. You could get the same food in a café for half the price. It was a very large hotel which I felt catered more for corporate clients not for ordinary member of the public like us. As my mum would say all fur coat and no knickers!!
Review 100:Close to Skipton and its bustling market. 20 minute drive to Haworth to see the Brontes family museum. A must!!!
Review 101:Having to wait for around in the middle of a wedding party for room to become available.
Review 102:The location was great. Staff were friendly . Room very clean, facilities good.
Review 103:Window was a skylight which only opened a few inches. We couldn't breath as so hot - so could not sleep. Could not find air conditioning switch as obviously not one - nor was there a fridge for a cold drink or ice. We phoned housekeeping and got a voicemail to leave a message so we didn't bother. Very expensive when you only need a bed for the night as out all day. And breakfast not included!!
Review 104:Parking and pool although not very upmarket
Review 105:asked receptionist if she was enjoying the sunny weather and she replied"what in here?"
Review 106:lovely location charming helpful staff. lovely room. fantastic views. there was a wedding party one of the nights and the room was totally soundproofed and never heard any noise at all.
Review 107:There was no air conditioning. The window was too difficult to open wide. Not keen on the roast vegetables, some ordinary boiled ones would have been nice Wardrobe far too small.
Review 108:Nice bedroom Pleasant and helpful staff. Luxurious feel to the hotel Indoor swimming pool
Review 109:Road side room- very noisy traffic noise weekdays from 5am to 9am - liveable Canal side quieter . No effective air conditioning.
Review 110:The restaurant food was simple, very good choice but brilliant- nice canal side views from restaurant and reasonably priced. Room size was very good.In room facilities tv etc good. All staff very good. Leisure facilities inc pool excellent.
Review 111:The room was very clean but outdated the window was difficult to open and found we could not get any air in to cool fown
Review 112:Relaxing having our meals by the canal
Review 113:Noticed road noise but not really a problem. may consider paying a little more for a canal view room next time.
Review 114:Friendly staff and personal touches you would not get with a large chain. The little swan conservatory restaurant provides a lovely setting overlooking canal and great food.
Review 115:Booking online was not the best experience since we needed a 3 day over the weekend. So this had to be accomplished in two bookings. The actual change of rooms was fine and the housekeeping excellent.
Review 116:Very friendly staff who provided excellent service, always with a smile, and very good food. Fabulous location, with the dining room overlooking the canal and the hills.
Review 117:Out of town but a great walk in on the canal.
Review 118:All the Staff were friendly and helpful, many thanks to the girls on reception for arranging the early check in, much appreciated.
Review 119:We had over an hours wait to book in even though it is advertised as book in at 2:00pm. This meant we were then late for our party event. Also we had to wait for breakfast as the tables weren't ready. Several couples waiting for breakfast. 2 members of staff shouting at each other from the corridor into the kitchen area.
Review 120:Most of the staff were lovely.
Review 121:Having to leave!
Review 122:Very quiet spacious rooms with extremely comfortable beds, could not fault them at all. Excellent food, both at breakfast and evening meal, staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, even getting us food at 9.50 pm when we arrived late on the first night.
Review 123:thought your Bar prices were a little high.
Review 124:we were allocated a very nice and well appointed room, facilities at hotel seemed very guest orientated. Wi Fi is an important inclusion today.
Review 125:Did not like slates instead of plates for some items on dinner menu. I found this inconvenient.
Review 126:A lovely view frm our room on the canal side. Free use of gym and swimming pool much appreciated. All ages catered for.
Review 127:On arrival cleaners were still cleaning even though we only turned up at 3.30 one tv wasnt working. The main tv we could only get bbc1 and 2 the excuse was its the wind. The nextday check out was 11 but we had a cleaner knocking on door at 10.15 then again at 10.30 it felt like they was kicking us out. There should more communication among staff.
Review 128:Food was good. It was fairly comfortable.
Review 129:My hubby and I felt very itchy on our feet once we entered the hotel room. Not sure if there are fleas on the carpet or what.
Review 130:We enjoyed the view of canal when we had breakfast.
Review 131:Very small room that was too hot with no air-con. It was also on 3rd floor (had requested ground floor), it was only accessable by stairs from 2nd floor - which my elderly, disabled Mother struggles with. Glass see through door to the loo!!
Review 132:Nice bar area
Review 133:The window was locked in our room staff tried to find key to open it but couldn't open window so room was too hot
Review 134:Hotel was in a good location not too far from skipton, great Indian restaurant next door
Review 135:The hotel is in need of redecoration, it is looking tired. The restaurant staff were very keen to get us out of the restaurant as quickly as possible.
Review 136:There was nothing that made me pleased to be staying there.
The Fine Print
