Reviews for The Oystercatcher Lodge Guest House

Review 1:Word's dont explain this place you have go there and judge it for yourself

Review 2:Lovely people,home cooked food,made welcome,great Irish crack,need i say more,

Review 3:We had a fantastic return visit to The Oystercatcher Lodge..a group of 8 friends in four twin rooms. The facilities were excellent with generous rooms which had lots of leisure space/armchairs/couch and kitchenette space as well as en-suites. Denise was welcoming and accommodating -nothing was too much trouble and she and her assistants helped to make our stay a great pleasure. Location is excellent and local restaurants and pub life made for a spectacular Christmas trip for us! Parking was provided which made our stay much easier as local parking is tight. Thank you!

Review 4:Nothing bad to report.

Review 5:Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits - a high priority when we're travelling! Room was very spacious and clean. Guesthouse is in an ideal location in the centre of Carlingford, with private parking just down the street. Host was friendly and welcoming.

Review 6:Great friendly staff. Very helpful. Really central location. Room was big and had everything we needed. Loved having a fridge and facilities for making tea. Would definitely go back here.

Review 7:Very expensive €80 for 1 night on a weekday (Thursday) with no breakfast included. No bath, very small bathroom.

Review 8:Rooms are very spacious. Good location right in the middle of the town. Staff very nice let us have a late check out until cleaning staff came in (which was half 12)

Review 9:Nothing really, a cobwebs on the ceiling but that didn't bother me.

Review 10:The owner was friendly & very helpful. We forgot some clothes & it was no problem to post back! The beds in room 8 were so comfortable!

Review 11:Excellent location, corner room on first floor overlooking the square, very generous size, high ceiling. Breakfast not included but local coffee shops are in abundance

Review 12:It's a pity that breakfast is not in the offer.

Review 13:Place at the centre of a village, near pubs, restaurants and views worth to see. No problem with a parking place for guests:)

Review 14:Ask for the room upstair in order to avoid to be in front of the Street (traffic in the morning, noisy at night when pubs close)

Review 15:Large and clean rooms. Kettle available (since breakfast not included). I reccomend you to have dinner in the Bistro (same name)

Review 16:advertised as B and B but there is no breakfast provided which was disappointing. But a list of local food establishments was provided in the room and the one we went to was excellent.

Review 17:It's only a small thing is theroom we were in was really big and a lovely but the only thing I would do is put a bigger TV in the room coz the small one in the corner u cant see it coz the room is so big u mite as well have just a radio on if u moved it out of the corner and out in the middle of the wall and a bigger one would be good

Review 18:The room was really nice good shower and the view of the mountains were really nice

Review 19:Housekeeper could pay better attention to hoovering as there was a lot of dust in places, & I picked up a bottle cap beside the bed when I entered room. This wouldn't deter me from staying there again.

Review 20:Oystercatcher has a very big bedroom with a king bed. Bathroom is spacious . Towels & toiletries were changed every day, but I do think that was unecessary.

Review 21:We were told that there would be a card in the room with details of how to use the wifi but there was no card.

Review 22:Very nice hotel in a very nice location.

Review 23:The general cleanliness of the room was poor. The curtains were very dirty as was the throw rug on the bed. There was also. A black mark on the duvet and paintwork was grubby.

Review 24:The large bedroom and great location

Review 25:It was very central in village, the staff were so friendly , large room with fridge, toaster and tea and coffee facilities. Excellent shower, I could go on and on !! Loved it

Review 26:Slightly noisy as revellers got their late night take-aways but balanced out with location.

Review 27:Central, with walking distance of everything. Good comfy bed, great shower, towels changed each day, bed made, fridge, toaster etc.

Review 28:Do not go to the Oystercatcher Bistro next door ! The tables are so cosetogether a quiet intimate meal is out of the question. My husbandslobster was the size of a large shrimp. The atmosphere was horrible asthe owners friend started behaving loudly and offensively . There aremany lovely places to eat give this place a miss.

Review 29:Nice cozy room and comfortable bed. So close to all the lovely pubs andrestaurants that no taxis are needed.

Review 30:Reception was closed when we arrived for check in even though it was after 3pm. (Check in time)

Review 31:This accommodation is centrally located. Room facilities are adequate and bed was very comfortable. It is room only accommodation which is fine as there are lots of places to have breakfast close by.

Review 32:On arrival no staff were available, we had to walk around to try and gain entry to guest house, asking a local man for help.

Review 33:The accommodation was in the centre of the village.

Review 34:location was excellent. rooms were brilliant and very spacious. rooms equipped with fridge, kettle, toaster, mugs, wine glasses...couldn't have asked for more :)

Review 35:Nine of us stayed in 3 rooms in the Oystercatcher for my friend's 40th birthday. The staff were so friendly and helpful - the rooms were very spacious, beds very comfortable and the accommodation was very central. There was even off road car-parking available upon request. Would definitely recommend :)

Review 36:Bathroom seriously needs updating . Shower had dark mold in corners and drain did not work well. there were holes in the wall where railings must have fallen out and it wasn't v clean. Bed comfortable but quilt cover was old and in need of replacement . Tea cups were v dirty and had to be replaced for which the owner apologized. For the price we paid it was not good quality . There is no breakfast either.

Review 37:Great location in center of town

Review 38:Described as B&B, in fact has this sign outside but no such thing. Had to go to a cafe down the road which, fortunately, served an excellent breakfast

Review 39:Room was clean and bed comfortable

Review 40:The lady that runs this is fabulous. I found her very helpful and offered a wide choice of recommendations of where to eat. The room was massive and had a fridge kettle, toaster and microwave. The location is perfect its right in the middle of town. Parking is provided free 50 yards down the road beside her house. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 41:Nothing I didn't like. (One lamp had a broken lampshade but that hardly affected our stay).

Review 42:Fabulous guest house in wonderful Carlingford. The rooms were very spacious and clean with a fantastic power shower. Ideal location, close to everything.

Review 43:I couldn't rate the breakfast as there wasn't any included.

Review 44:The Oystercatcher is a clean comfortable place to stay. I would have no difficulty in recommending it to anybody, and would stay again.

Review 45:The service we received was great. There was no food served at the b&b but they were very helpful to offer some good places to go. The shower was unreal, no issues with weak power.

Review 46:duvet was very thin and furry, not very comfortable but we slept well, could only be improved by the addition of inclusive breakfast

Review 47:perfect location, everything very easy to walk to, carlingford is very picturesque, great local cafe - food for thought nearby, really tasty and delicious food here

Review 48:Visited in January, able to warm the room up using the thermostat but the bathroom and bathroom floor were freezing!

Review 49:Very convenient, beautiful location, very spacious room.

Review 50:In fairness to the owners, we booked through here and they didn't realise it was still online as they were closed for the winter. But they still took our booking. The room was cold, there didn't appear to be any breakfast! It was expensive!

Review 51:Great location lovely large room.

Review 52:Was situated across street from Chinese carry out. as it was new year eve young folks congregated there for food and waiting for taxis. Very noisy got no sleep till after 4am. am told this is a regular occurrence every Sat night. so we would only be interested in this guest house sun/mid week but not weekends. a mat on floor inside door would be great when entering when it has been raining. without leaves floor very slippery and as I use crutches quite dangerous.

Review 53:good size room convenient to all shops ,pubs restaurants etc. Was great for me as I suffer with arthritis and my mobility is poor. I use crutches and mobility scooter to get about

Review 54:N/A

Review 55:We stayed over on New Years Eve. The lady that runs the guesthouse is absolutely lovely and the parking provided is so handy in a tight wee town like Carlingford. Our room was huge and the shower was really impressive. Would heartily recommend to anyone

Review 56:Denise was so helpful and accommodating. She provided extra glasses and items to facilitate our having a Christmas gift exchange gathering in one of the lovely spacious bedrooms. Kitchen facilities and extra seating was an appreciated extra in the rooms. Large generous room sizes and immaculate throughout. Top location!

Review 57:The noise from outside our window from the hoards of stag and hen dos that were in Carlingford that night. Plus one of the guests hammering on the main door at 2.30 as they had no key. Also we booked B&B but never got breakfast as dining room was closed???

Review 58:The location was good as it was handy to restaurant we were meeting our family at. Secure place to park, nice big room

Review 59:Noisy at night with hen/stag parties coming out of nearby pubs No one at reception on arrival...teaming wet day! No indication as to where to check in

Review 60:good size room microwave, fridge in room

Review 61:Disappointed it wasn't a B&B. Would have enjoyed getting my breakfast. But there was places to eat close by anyway

Review 62:Excellent location, staff where lovely. No complaints

Review 63:Eighty quid for a room and no breakfast is expensive. I slept well after a hike up slieve foye and a few drinks but my partner was woken up multiple times by pubs and club emptying and my snoring added to the annoyance!

Review 64:Great Central location. Basically roll out the door and into any of the bars or restaurants. Lovely welcome from the lady up the street. Grub downstairs is fantastic, don't think they're the same owners.

Review 65:None available,so had to leave accomadation and go out. But on flip side menu in room for food for thought, which we went to and was excellent and great value for money with lovely staff

Review 66:No breakfast included...booking room only

Review 67:The room was spotless, spacious and comfortable...tea & coffee facility and small fridge in room the location very good...the owner very nice friendly lady...I would stay here again...love Carlingford

Review 68:didn't include breakfast so i thought in terms of value for money could have been a few pounds cheaper, but would still go back and would still recommend.

Review 69:Location and proximity. Staff we spoke to were very friendly and nothing was a problem.

Review 70:We did not realise there was no breakfast included as I looked up B & B's so thought it was a bit expensive as we had to go out to breakfast which cost us €10.00 each each day we were given muffins by the Lady of the House but we had no toaster to toast them.

Review 71:The room was lovely and comfortable.

Review 72:Found a pair of ladies socks and 2 chicken balls in a brown paper bag in separate drawers of dressing table. This was at 17:40 hrs on Sunday 31st August 2014. We reported this to the owner on Monday 1st September at 11:00 hrs.

Review 73:For the price I would have preferred a breakfast. We assumed it was a B&B but were told on arrival it was not. We were told several people had made this mistake in the past. In fairness when we checked our reservation it did indeed say there was no meal with the room so it was our own fault that we overlooked it. The price was a bit too steep for just an overnight stay that did not include a breakfast and for that reason we will not be back.

Review 74:Bit noisy but thats to be expected as carlingford attracts the younger crowd.

Review 75:Great place very central location !!! Room spacious and clean, will diff be back

Review 76:The facility was a self catering room - not a hotel room. The room was separate to the rest of the building. The room was cold and uninviting. It was on the ground floor and noisy - traffic. (The room was opposite a take away and although this did not affect us as it was a Tuesday night - I imagine it would be a problem at the weekend)

Review 77:Location was central Room was spacious and clean

Review 78:Tea and coffee facilities could be improved.

Review 79:Location was excellent!

Review 80:Location and value for money Size of room
