Reviews for St Mary's Inn

Review 1:Only down side is lack of mobile phone signal in the hotel. However landline means can keep in touch and free wifi means you can Skype if required.

Review 2:This was my second stay at the St Mary's Inn and, as the first time , the staff were friendly, room spotless, comfortable and has great decor. Beds are very comfortable.

Review 3:There were no complaints about anything mentioned to me.

Review 4:I booked two rooms for friends and they told me everything was really good. The staff went out of their way to make their stay the best that could possibly be,and were very welcoming and friendly. Our friends were very happy with their stay.

Review 5:This is the second time we have stayed here as it is close to relatives, we were staying on New Year's Day evening, the hotel rang to inform us of the kitchen closing times and also when I was there we enquires about a suit I had just discovered I had lost , the last time it was worn was visting the hotel in October, I left it whilst checking out, the hotel managed to repatriate me with it,

Review 6:The staff is so accommodating and warm, food is consistently lovely, and the rooms are modern, clean and spacious. We've decided that we'll stay here every time we come to visit family in Morpeth!

Review 7:There was nothing about the hotel to dislike. The only glitch was that as the hotel is in an area which is being developed sat nav is not reliable at the moment. Directions provided on the hotel web site overcome this problem.

Review 8:Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Care and attention to my wife's food allergies and staff product knowledge was excellent. Building was full of character with lots of small and interesting public rooms. Very comfortable bedroom with large spacious bathroom. Both breakfast and dinner menus offered wide choices. Food was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. Outside there was ample parking. Good range of real ales to suit all tastes. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would book again when visiting the area.

Review 9:No complaints!

Review 10:The staff, manager included, were overwhelmingly accommodating when we were stuck in traffic and arrived 6 hours late, in the middle of the night/early morning! Rooms were modern and spacious, yet cozy and charming. Food was very nice.

Review 11:Management went out of their way to ensure we had an excellent stay. When we returned late each afternoon it was just like coming home to a warm fire and warm hospitality. The bedrooms were roomy, well-appointed and comfortable.

Review 12:Didn't enjoy walk outdoors from Annexe room (Swinbourne) to main building but not a great problem. Didn't like wobbly bed and the fact a neighbours dog woke us up barking early hours. Carpets could be nicer in rooms. Bit way out in middle of nowhere. Unsure about drive through housing estate to get there...but again not a great problem. Didn't like the old wardrobes and old chairs in room which made me think they may have belonged to an old 'inmate'! Not sure about the old bed throw either?!!!!

Review 13:Cosy/friendly place with efficient and very pleasant staff. Service was good.

Review 14:Extensive building works still on going around the Inn itself, so approach roads, grass verges and pavements are extremely muddy right now. Noisy extraction fan on patio outside several of the bedrooms - avoid if possible when you book, or ask staff to switch it off when you go to bed. Rooms are minimalistic and very well maintained but bring a step ladder with you to get into the bed (very comfortable once you've made the ascent). As a seasoned traveller, all I can say is that, taking everything into consideration, room prices are a bit on the high side, charges being more in line with a 4 star hotel (swimming pool, sauna, fitness room, 24hrs service, etc..) rather than an Inn.

Review 15:Fantastic staff and great ambience about the place. Dogs are very well catered for and warmly welcomed. Food is good but not a huge choice in the evenings. Free Wifi with decent reception. Home from home in many respects.

Review 16:The location you had to use a car everywhere you went too way out to walk anywhere to isolated.

Review 17:The hotel and staff very nice the rooms were also very good , the veiw not so good but that wasn't the hotels fault work was being done outside .

Review 18:For the price, the accommodation and quality of food was excellent. The rooms are beautiful and the bar/restaurant is very welcoming. Very good food.

Review 19:Nothing

Review 20:Beautifully appointed hotel - lovely bedrooms, dining rooms and lounges. Quite remote location but Morpeth is only a couple of miles and is a great little market town.

Review 21:the staff were very helpful and accomodating, with great food and local ales. One of the best full English Breakfasts we have eaten this year, faultless.

Review 22:The bed, though very attractive, was not good to sleep on. Poor design means that the slats drop out if you sat on it at the wrong angle, the whole thing wobbled constantly. No good if you're 6ft+ as you can't stick your feet out of the foot of the bed, so it feels as if you're in a coffin.

Review 23:An atmospheric, stylish, well converted building that oozes history serving excellent food and drink with good, friendly staff.

Review 24:Noise of kitchen extractor fan in the bedroom. Should inform customers before booking of the building works behind the inn.

Review 25:Spacious room, helpful and friendly staff, excellent food.

Review 26:The staff made us feel at home instantly. We asked if we could change our room as i have a disability and cant get in & out of a bath. Without any question they found us a room with a shower after about 10 minutes of chasing around on their behalf. The room was amazing and we had a great weekend. Thank you.

Review 27:The convenience and comfort of the location as a stop on our journey, and the friendly and helpful people. Dinner and breakfast were alike excellent.

Review 28:The location is a bit random. Near a housing development and not really a "rural" area like we had imagined. Was also right next to a building site

Review 29:Lovely place and food and so glad they were pet friendly and yet still maintained a high standard.

Review 30:The room had noise from music in bar at night but when asked they did turn it down. Our room was directly over bar.

Review 31:Everything. Lovely converted hospital. Only 11 rooms. Been open a year. The food was good. Breakfast huge, two of everything which was toooo much. Large super king bed (Bakethin room). Big walk in shower.

Review 32:The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was huge! The artwork displayed in the hotel added to the experience. The restaurant was excellent and the staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Review 33:The hotel is in the countryside. Just beautifully presented with wooden beams and fire places. The staff were excellent as were the rooms. Big rooms and beautifully decorated. We had an amazing breakfast in the morning, in what feels like a farm house. I generally stay in budget hotels, and being up for the rugby World Cup, the accommodation was not the main focus. We arrived late not knowing what to expect and were blown away. It's not often one's expectations are significantly exceeded. I intend to return in the future.

Review 34:Friendleyness and efficiency of the staff Also personal memories of the building as worked 20 years as a nurse there, Impressed at its excellent conversion whilst still maintaining the architecture of the building

Review 35:Currently a Building site behind hotel. Sheets had small rips and marks. Bergomot Smell over used

Review 36:Spacious room (deluxe), good new facilities with old furniture. an excellent breakfast with a good range of continental and cooked breakfast.

Review 37:Not being able to stay longer, next time though I will be.

Review 38:I had a fantastic stay, from the pleasant staff on arrival which in my experience is essential to staff being very helpful with luggage to & from room with a smile. Nothing was to hard or out there way. Beautiful rooms with everything you need for a very relaxing staff & very peaceful surroundings. The food is exceptional so yes for me 100% I will definitely be returning in future...keep up the good standards because please trust me it stands out by a mile & thanks for lovely stay.

Review 39:.the fact that we were only there for a few hours (business - Great North Run) ... next time will book to stay longer

Review 40:The friendliness, the luxurious spaciousness of the room, the top end fittings and quirky decor - the mosaics in the room, the wire dogs and cartoons in the public space

Review 41:Inn was beautifully restored with great attention to detail, keeping a sense of place and heritage. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent: locally sourced and even the breakfast granola home-made.

Review 42:Our room was beautiful, we had the most amazing bathroom with a walk in shower and free standing bath. The staff were excellent and so helpful as my best friend was getting married we had some unusual requests, the staff were more than happy to oblige.

Review 43:Help with bags would have been an advantage- but I'm sure if I had asked for help the staff would have obliged. (Lots of stairs with dog, dog bed, cases bags etc)

Review 44:Friendliness of all staff, including housekeeping. Very welcoming of my dog. Bedroom so very spacious and luxurious. Breakfast was fantastic, such a vast choice. Loads of parking. Dogs given water in restaurant and little blanket in our room- nice touches.

Review 45:There was nothing which displeased me.

Review 46:Great atmosphere and superb attitude from staff. There are just 11 bedrooms, so it is a personal kind of place. My room had a terrace. The restaurant is excellent.

Review 47:Quite difficult to find. Not well signposted at the entrance to the estate.

Review 48:Excellant friendly staff. Building renovated to really high standard. Bathroom to die for. Massive breakfast with everything you could want.

Review 49:We were initially given the Hallingdon room, this is over the kitchen and has and enormous extractor fan chimney at the side of it. The noise from it is loud and disruptive even though it's turned off at 9.00pm. The kitchen cleaning noise goes on till 12.00pm. Following my complaint we were moved to another room on the front of the property which was great.

Review 50:This turned into a good break but it could have been bad. The staff worked hard to sort out problems early on in our stay. Had our room not been changed I would have been writing a complaint letter.

Review 51:The only problem was that the old hospital directly behind was being demolished and this was a bit of an eyesore and a bit noisy too.

Review 52:Great decor and huge room, comfortable and very clean. The breakfasts were really good with plenty of choice and generous portions. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 53:Only minor niggle is if using a single bed was quite narrow and high so was worried I would fall out.

Review 54:outstanding 5 star service from start to finish, full english was best ive had in a hotel.

Review 55:There is still some work in the immediate vicinity. Rooms to the front are excellent, but to the side one cannot escape seeing the work site.

Review 56:Good comfortable very spacious rooms, clean newly furnished, good meals and helpful staff. Very quiet location.

Review 57:The access to the room, had to go outside to a square roof terrace then back into a lobby for to the room . The Main Extractor fan for the kitchen runs through the middle of this courtyard and out via the roof space and you get a loud drumming from the Fan 24hrs a day. The Extract fans should exit the Kitchen etc through the kitchen wall and not run up through the middle of the Hotel ?

Review 58:Comfy bed and room lovely. Food was very good. and staff very good.

Review 59:The view and location will be greatly improved when the nearby building work is finished. However, this would not put us off visiting again in the meantime.

Review 60:The facilities, food and staff were all excellent.

Review 61:Everything was great from the food, drinks, room, staff.....lovely hotel and deserves a lot of success! The only tiny thing is that it would have nice to have a sofa to chill out on in the main bar area

Review 62:Everything! It was peaceful, beautifully maintained, the staff were so lovey and attentive. The room was huge, spotless and the bed was heavenly!

Review 63:A real surprise in the heart of nowhere. Very modern but retro feel. The bedroom was stylish and comfortable. The food was very good though the cereal and fruit choice at breakfast was limited. Great place to stay.

Review 64:room size a bit small, but ok would have liked a bath as an option menu size was good, but when 2main courses were not available, it made the choices too limited

Review 65:size of bathroom was good, shower was excellent. staff were lovely

Review 66:The checking in arrangements could be clearer. We weren't sure where to go. We were told we had no booking which caused a bit of inconvenience although this was later found with no issue by another member of staff.

Review 67:I loved everything! The food is fab, the rooms luxurious. The lady who made up the rooms was really friendly. Loved the outside terrace - so much going for this place.

Review 68:Beautiful room with characterful old furniture, amazing bed, absolutely delicious breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff, couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay.

Review 69:weak cell phone connections for smart phone users

Review 70:Everything from simplicity of reservation to checkout was second to none....Food was excellent...service and housekeeping were top notch. Bathroom was super modern

Review 71:Not much really. Slightly slow service at the dining area but when one is relaxed and so well looked after, one doesn't care! There is still a construction site at the back but no noise or dust. It only means that the site will only get better. If a playground is also made, this will become a paradise!

Review 72:Great rooms, very good food, excellent breakfast options and very friendly and caring Staff.

Review 73:When I was shown to my room, the scent from a room diffuser was gorgeous, it gave the hotel a luxury feel without being over powering and without being over priced.

Review 74:Nothing though the area is in the middle of being developed and will be great when complete

Review 75:Sensational food, very comfortable, beautifully decorated and helpful friendly staff

Review 76:Food very good friends joined us for evening we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal.service excellence.breakfast was to die for.room well presented, lovely toiletries.good location for Northumbria coast.

Review 77:Everything at this hotel was wonderful. The welcome and friendliness of staff was unexpected and great. The facilities and presentation of our room was amazing. Our stay was quiet and the bed comfortable. Could it get better? Well wait until you have breakfast! They offer an unusual selection of dishes, so nice we are going back for another visit this week!

Review 78:It was hard to find. The sat nav took us to some houses in a wood using the post code provided and it wouldn't accept the coordinates! We phoned the place and they gave us an alternative post code which is NE16 6AT! That took us straight there! There is no lift/ elevator so if you have a lot of luggage, it would be a tiring experience!

Review 79:I Loved the design, decor, friendly staff, size of the rooms, large bathroom., very comfy bed. The Breakfast was excellent! Great feeling in the building. There were interesting nooks and crannies and the wire dogs strategically placed throughout the public rooms were both lovely and amusing!

Review 80:Mobile phone signal (Vodaphone) not the best but Txts fine. Rather slow at breakfast - but all freshly prepared.

Review 81:Very nice rooms, some accessible, nice dining areas with good menu and quality food. Quiet rural location. The Bar ares had the feel and atmosphere of a friendly country pub. Brown direction signs helpful and loads of easy parking. WiFi good. Staff great.

Review 82:A bit difficult to find not knowing the area.

Review 83:Everything new with high-quality fittings and furnishings. Owner chatted with us for some time over breakfast.

Review 84:Slight grumble! I'd prefer a pit of coffee on the table rather than having to ask staff to refill my cup each time

Review 85:Enjoyed dinner with friends and then a very comfortable night in a well equipped room followed by an excellent breakfast - recommended

Review 86:Located well out of town in a housing estate. Lift was always locked. When we asked were told the man with the key for the lift was not in the hotel.

Review 87:Size of room, food, staff friendliness, and facilities in general

Review 88:Just a bit hard to find in the dark - which is when you will get there if you go form the south!! Maybe it was me.

Review 89:I liked the staff, the menu and the food is excellent. The ambience in the bar and alcoves of the restaurant. Great stay.

Review 90:A better signage depicting location would be less confusing.

Review 91:Staff made you feel special and nothing was too much trouble giving the impression they took a pride in their work. A lovely one night stay with comfort, relaxation and good food.

Review 92:We wouldn't have paid the price but it was a gift and we couldn't fault the experince!

Review 93:Food was excellent, staff very friendly, bathroom was stunning & the bed was beautiful!

Review 94:Didn't enjoy the cooked English breakfast. The bacon was all fat, mushrooms and black pudding tasted strange.

Review 95:Very spacious and pleasant room and bathroom. Enjoyed our evening meal in very nice dining room.

Review 96:My husband and I were travelling to Edinburgh and somewhere close to the A1 to break our journey. Staff told us that this hotel had only opened in November. It has 5* and is really fantastic. All the staff were helpful, breakfast was lovely and we will definately be returning.

Review 97:The hotel is a newly refurbished building worthy of a 5* rating with excellent décor. My wife and I often visit the north east which is a truly beautiful part of England and rich in history. The local produce is of very high quality and the people of the region are warm and friendly. would definitely stay at this hotel again and is recommended.

Review 98:Excellent hotel, rooms were amazing especially the bathroom. Staff extremely efficient and friendly. Food amazing Overall I would definately recomend this hotel .I look forward to returning.
