Reviews for The Kings Arms

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:Staying at The Kings Arms was an absolute delight. The cuisine was exquisite the room extremely comfortable and the Manager and Staff could not have been more attentive, without being overpowering. If you are in the market for modern and contemporary original artwork there is an excellent display for sale throughout the building.

Review 3:would help to have long mirrow in room plugs for kettle & hair drier need to be above level of unit. Very poor having to get on floor to plug in.

Review 4:Evening meals excellent. Moor fish courses/or starter wld be good Portion sizes large good wine list but as always not cheap Staff v good and friendly Would be very happy to return

Review 5:My partner found a chicken bone in his dinner and told the waiter who was tall and worn glasses who replied yeah it's from the chicken!!!!!! And nothing else was said The owner however was very nice

Review 6:En suit was very nice.

Review 7:The bed was slightly low for our liking and not as firm as we would like.

Review 8:The accommodation is modern and was set in a lovely tranquil, beautiful village with a lovely outlook onto farmland. Our room had the added bonus of having plenty of windows that we could open, as we do appreciate a cool room for sleeping. All produce used for breakfast was of good quality and local.

Review 9:Quite noisy in our room which was above the bar, very small bathroom sink

Review 10:Lovely outdoor area for early evening drink in the sunshine, great shower, large fluffy towels, very clean, good food, very friendly and efficient service

Review 11:A very good bright and comfortable bar area. The food (dinner and breakfast) was excellent. The requests we had after our first night were resolved immediately and to our total satisfaction.

Review 12:Room was above main door of pub, so quite noisy from the bar and door closing, people leaving the hotel/bar and as we stayed over a weekend it was busy.

Review 13:Lovely food served, relaxed place. Comfortable bed and clean room.

Review 14:We really enjoyed our stay. Our room was excellent, the food top class and the staff pleasant and friendly. We would recommend this hotel and will definitely go back.

Review 15:No faults.

Review 16:Very friendly & helpful staff Excellent food and service Clean tidy and pretty much up together though the male W/C was in need of a refurb. Car parking was free and close by but not secure.

Review 17:- Dated TV

Review 18:- Excellent friendly staff - Very well maintained - Excellent service - Clean rooms - Comfortable beds - Good quiet location - Beautiful surroundings

Review 19:Room was very small including bathroom. No where to put toiletries. This was the only thing that spoilt an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Review 20:The staff were very good and dinner was excellent.

Review 21:Dinner in the restaurant was very good in every way but by contrast the breakfast was a let down. The food itself was short in both quality and quantity and the service left a lot to be desired. Having recently stayed in a Thistle Hotel in London I am afraid this hotel fell a long way short as far as the breakfast was concerned.

Review 22:Friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, as was the service. The room was of a good size and everything you would expect was provided. The bathroom was fitted to a high standard.

Review 23:I would have liked to see more vegetarian meals on the menu.

Review 24:I thought the room looked great. The staff were friendly. The shower room was nice to use. The location was very good. I would definitely go back or recommend the Kings Arms to a friend.

Review 25:Noisy, particularly when staying above the bar in a room close to the surprisingly busy road. Not much choice for the buffet breakfast offerings: well below expectation at this price level. Restaurant food looks better than it tastes - some way away from its aims and price level. Rather small room. At least 50% overpriced for the experience delivered: we paid not much more per night for one of the best hotels in Bath.

Review 26:Good base for exploring region. Clean and comfortable.

Review 27:Lovely old building with smart updated look inside.Interesting range of artwork displayed. Good breakfast. Relaxed feel to the whole place.

Review 43:Great place lovely staff highly recommended

Review 44:Room was a bit on the small side.

Review 45:General ambience, decor, friendly staff, cleanliness and excellent food,

Review 46:the food and the staff also the location

Review 47:very friendly hotel

Review 48:Room hot, but Air Con supplied second night

Review 49:Fabulous food

Review 50:The kitchen vent was disturbing but we got used to it. Everything else was very good.

Review 51:No complaints - all good.

Review 52:Breakfast was very nicely cooked. The patio area very pleasant for drinks on a warm afternoon.

Review 53:Helpful staff, comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast!

Review 54:Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, and the food was fantastic.

Review 55:Had expected a king size bed and a room to fit it so found room a little cramped as a result.

Review 56:Comfortable room and good bathroom and extra facilities

Review 57:Friendly welcome very well trained staff and excellent home cooked food

Review 58:Bed was rather average

Review 59:Food was great for me as a meat eater but limited for my vegetarian wife.

Review 60:Leaving!!!

Review 61:Great staff, lovely food, very comfortable. Can't fault it in anyway. The breakfast was fabulous as was dinner!!!

Review 62:Excellent restaurant

Review 63:Everything I will be back...

Review 64:Nothing bad to say

Review 65:Staff friendly and efficient Great food Nice and quiet Nothing too much trouble

Review 66:Staff

Review 67:Mattress not very comfortable

Review 68:Beautiful location

Review 69:Excellent restaurant Excellent accomodation

Review 70:The attentive staff, the en-suite facilities are superb, the food is marvellous, the ambiance of the place is great.

Review 71:Staff very friendly. Food excellent. Room very cosy with a great (!) shower.

Review 72:The room was very small. In place of a wardrobe (which there was no room for) there was a peg rail with three hangers on it which all felt very cramped. The other room was also very small & you had to get in the shower to enter the bathroom. Having told them it was two of our parties' birthdays there was no acknowledgement of this, even to say happy birthday.

Review 73:The staff were very friendly and the place was spotless. The food was good too.

Review 74:Sold as 5-star but didn't feel like it. Expensive for what you got. First room sold as a double but was two twin beds pushed together. We asked to move for second night and room was much better. Some fittings a bit tired. A couple of times when staff seemed uninterested. Wi-Fi almost non existent in some rooms. This was more money than we would normally pay, but our expectations were not met.

Review 75:Some staff v friendly. Second bedroom (see below) was much brighter and comfier.

Review 76:Our first room was very small and not suitable as a double for more than one night. But we were offered another one which was more spacious and capacious. The radio signal is erratic -which is not the fault of the hotel but did mean that sometimeswe had to go outside to receive or make mobile calls.

Review 77:The service and attitude of all the staff from owner downwards. Calm, friendly and very accommodating. We arrived very stressed from a long journey and were instantly made to feel at home and welcome.

Review 78:The wet room was excellent but the sink was very small and not easy to comfortably access.

Review 79:The food was outstanding in content, quality, presentation and service. The room was calmly furnished and the bed very comfortable.

Review 80:Because of the food being so good in the restaurant that we had on the Thursday evening on Saturday we were really looking forward to breakfast but the full English was not up to quality as the other meals we had at the hotel. Unfortunately we had room 6 which was above the kitchen and the noise of the extractor fans was like being in a ships engine room I did mention this when we arrived but we were unable to change rooms. I thought they may of changed us on our 2nd night but that was not to be.

Review 81:The staff were very pleasant and very professional. The food in the restaurant was very good and good size portions. The room was very clean.

Review 82:Nothing - we had a fabulous stay here.

Review 83:Beautiful setting. Outstanding facilities. The hosts and all staff are extremely attentive and accommodating. Rooms have been refurbished to a very high standard and are very comfortable. We stayed for lunch and evening meal, then breakfast the following morning. All were excellent.

Review 84:rather expensive.

Review 85:very accommodating staff. we needed to move our reservations back one day and get a roll out bed for one night - no problem. Specific requests for breakfast - no problem. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Pub downstairs closes at around 10:00-10:30 with no noise after that.

Review 86:There was nothing we could fault with this hotel.

Review 87:This hotel ticked all the boxes the room was very comfortable, clean and a wet room we would have liked to take home. The staff were very friendly and polite the food was superb. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again.

Review 88:Parking across a busy road. Noisy in bar and restaurant.

Review 89:Meals good. Rooms comfortable, although our friends washbasin was very small and said hit their head on shelf when cleaning teeth! Clean and friendly.

Review 90:Our room was rather small. The kitchen extractor fans made a lot of noise in our room (5) and didn't go off until nearly midnight.

Review 91:Superb restaurant, food is of a very high standard. Bathrooms are very well appointed.

Review 92:Wifi was a little show. But that is rural England, I suppose.

Review 93:Great ambiance and food. Very helpful and friendly staff. Very high quality shower - often this is an issue in UK pubs. Quiet location. Very busy dinning room - worth booking a dinner table when you book the hotel. Good menu range and wine list.

Review 94:it was more pricey than you would expect to pay in a pub, but it was delicioius and the service was very good.

Review 95:a most delicious meal, we had 3 courses and each one was fantastic if not a little too generous. Very good wine selection too.

Review 96:The room was too hot and did not appear to have working controls to reduce the temperature. We stayed only one night if we were staying another would have said so and asked to fix.

Review 97:Lovely place, great ambiance and friendly service. Bar and restaurant relaxing and enjoyable. Room was very well presented and had all the facilities.

Review 98:Room lacked adequate surface space for belongings. Croissants etc wouldhave been a nice alternative to a cooked breakfast.

Review 99:Very good friendly staff. Good food.

Review 100:small thing - no full length mirror in room, the one that was there was small and too high on the wall. The hairdryer did not stretch to the mirror.

Review 101:amazing rooms, the one we had had a fantastic view out to the countryside the bathroom was way above expectations with rain shower and marble. The food was first class, venison and lamb as good as any London restaurant. Friendly staff, very accommodating. Would return in a heartbeat

Review 102:Failure of Booking.com to convey reservation to The Kings Arms.

Review 103:Outstanding help from Wendy the Reservations Manager in arrangingalternative accommodation due to failure of Booking.com to convey fiveday reservation.

Review 104:Very tiny low sink in bathroom as its set up for disabled guests. However for able bodied guests it's very difficult to use because of it's size and low position on the wall.

Review 105:Very quiet location off the beaten track. Good quality food products used. Very tasty breakfast Comfortable big bed Very roomy bathroom Helpful friendly staff

Review 106:Only minor irritations - a shaving mirror that was loose. so as not to be useful; the absence of a mat in the shower.

Review 107:The relaxed attitude of the staff; the spacious dining room; the fact that the kitchen was visible to residents; the shower.

Review 108:Not too keen on seeing the toothpaste splashes on the wall around the sink area we assume from previous occupier(s), otherwise the room appeared clean.

Review 109:Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, the staff are welcoming. The village setting is lovely.

Review 110:View from the room was a little disappointing but room as such was nice.

Review 111:A really nice location if you wish to get the feeling "being away from it all" in a very comfortable environment. SItuated in a very small village in a wounderful surrounding. Beautiful Sherborne easy to reach by car. Very nice staff. Excellent kitchen.

Review 112:Welcome , and then the additional help in getting an emergency repair organised for our car . The evening meal was excellent , and the breakfast well above average . The doom bar bitter rounded off the experience !

Review 113:No mobile signal anywhere and only one place in the building where Wi-Fi connection possible. We chose this hotel as air conditioning was mentioned in the description and it was very hot. However this turned out to be a noisy freestanding unit which, in order to use it, you had to trail the outlet pipe out of the window. Hence had to have window open and then got the road noise. Otherwise nice but not good value at £125 per room per night.

Review 114:Staff very accommodating and a lovely building. Nearly very good but....

Review 115:Noisy air condition machine in room with pipe out of the window.

Review 116:Friendly staff, good location, excellent breakfast, easy parking.lovely hot shower. Overall Excellent Place to Stay.

Review 117:Dinner in the restaurant was wonderful and the setting is beautiful. Extremely comfortable bed & great shower. It seems like the perfect place to relax for several days.

Review 118:We were on our way to a Wedding, so it was perfect for what we wanted, staying after the Wedding, very relaxing, clean and very good staff, attention to detail was very good.
