Reviews for Speedbird Inn Aberdeen Airport
Review 1:Room was cold when we arrived, fine 30 mins after we switched on heating.
Review 2:We were able to book last minute at a very good rate. Would do this again for early flights. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 3:Receptionist answered phone while checking us in and kept us waiting while taking another booking.
Review 4:Warm welcome from Helen. Impressed with bar/kitchen staff coping with a very busy night.
Review 5:Restaurant very poor quality. Did not feel welcome. Too many men hanging around in bar and no healthy options. Front desk not very helpful. Expensive accommodation for what it provided.
Review 6:Room was quiet
Review 7:I would like to see a 4 oclock cancellation policy for offshore workers. Price for an overnight stay is not competitive with surroiunding hotels.
Review 8:Location to the airport
Review 9:The staff are very welcoming and helpful. There are often good prices on offer. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and very quiet in spite of being at an airport and near a main road. Food helpings are very generous.
Review 10:Food, Risotto was tasteless, too much of blue cheese with no other type available Sausages taste very cheap Bacon was nice
Review 11:Reception staff where excellent
Review 12:The only thing not so good was the shower, it was poor, and also the shower head was fixed on wall, so not user friendly.
Review 13:The room was very quiet, no noise from other rooms or traffic or aeroplanes.
Review 14:The restaurant was external and would not charge back to the room. This made an extra charge on my credit card which did not please me.
Review 15:The receptionist was exceptionally pleasant. The driver of the shuttle bus was very kind and helpful.
Review 16:I did go for breakfast and omg what a waste of money, first the staff are absolutely rude, the food is not worth the money, definitely won't be eating breakfast here again!!!
Review 17:The speedbird is a decent hotel I use it before going to work and I've never had a problem with the hotel ever.
Review 18:It would have been a great help if there were signs showing to the path between hotel and airport. When arriving after dark it was very difficult to find the way - I'm happy it did not rain! Bed is 3/4 - a bit narrow when you are used to kingsize. Restaurant in a separate building and the young waiter was not too friendly...
Review 19:Ok for staying overnight when arriving late in Aberdeen Airport. Nice staff in the reception.
Review 20:We were only there about eight hours. Didn't have any issues.
Review 21:Ideal for a stopover before / after a flight. It's a relatively easy walk from the airport but there is a transfer bus if needed.
Review 22:There was no lift
Review 23:The overall convenience right by the airport was great. The staff (especially Billy the shuttle driver) couldn't do enough for us. Thank you to them
Review 24:the charge of £3.50 just to drop people at reception.
Review 25:staff very friendly and helpful, very comfortable room, had lovely meal, once again bar staff excellent-comfortable surroundings
Review 26:The computer systems were down for booking in. The food was not great. Breakfast was not great too
Review 27:Room was decent and confy. Location is always a bonus. Staff were friendly.
Review 28:Reception staff were really friendly and gave my daughter a colouring set which she was thrilled with. Bar staff were exceptional chatting to my little girl and even putting kids tv on for her. Can't recommend it enough for young families. It was also excellent that they provided us with a free taxi to the airport at 4am! Excellent well done to all the staff for running such high standards in such a busy hotel!!
Review 29:The very noisy bed springs were irritating.
Review 30:Efficient, friendly staff. Good food and great location for morning fights from Aberdeen with the bonus of a free courtesy bus to the airport!
Review 31:its price was way above what i would like to pay , i have had way cheaper in Glasgow airport and included dinner and breakfast
Review 32:it was close to the airport
Review 33:none
Review 34:location with free shuttle transfer upon our late arrival, cleanliness, value of money for what we spent for and helpfulness of staffs. We were also offered a free ride to the car rental company nearby!
Review 35:I wish there is triple room with three single beds and single room....
Review 36:I have been using this hotel for pre-night before traveling to Findhorn foundation with my arranged group. I always welcomed friendly smile and reception by front staff as well as some of senior staff.
Review 37:Guest in room above stomped around a good part of the night. I slept very little because of the noise.
Review 38:The friendly, helpful, staff. Location and shuttle service very helpful
Review 39:the food again was disappointing a simple dish to prepare which was cold in the middle the menu is tired and needs new vigour because there is a lot more choices around you and soon there will be more i overheard bad language coming from the kitchen range which is not a good impression i am a very frequent user so i feel its best coming from me and not another user.
Review 40:pleasant staff always a welcome on arrival
Review 41:Sink was a bit small n low but no real issue.
Review 42:We arrived around midnight and on the way up the driveway there were about 10 rabbits on the different patches of grass, so cute but they all scurried away when we got closer. Staff were really nice and friendly.
Review 43:One night was rather cold and the duvet too thin....would have liked extra blankets to be visible.
Review 44:Helpful, friendly staff, nice quiet rooms, sensible soap dispensers
Review 45:Service in bar was non existent 3 members of staff doing everything else except serving customers in bar. Adjoining restaurant busy but no excuse 30 minute wait at bar then gave up. Do not advertise a bar if you won't serve the customers.
Review 46:Normal airport hotel, nothing special except location to airport and airport shuttle
Review 47:No heating source in bathroom - very chilly. Towels still damp in morning.
Review 48:Convenient for airport with courtesy bus only really needed in bad weather (it was snowing!) excellent reception staff, helpful and efficient.
Review 49:We have a 3 year old who would have gone bonkers in the room all evening, but aberdeen city is a short drive away and pirates cove at Codonas is open till 10 most nights. Fabulous child heaven where we could also have our dinner. Kept us all sane even if it is in a noisy arcade.
Review 50:40 minutes for burger and chips and told by the restaurant staff this was a normal waiting time. Bathroom had been basically wiped clean with corner areas especially on the shower door not been touched for a long time.
Review 51:Bed comfortable, towels soft and clean.
Review 52:I expected much more from a Hotel charging premium rates. Probably ok if you are a north sea worker on expenses but it's a rip off for leasure traveler mid week
Review 53:Proximity of airport
Review 54:Noisy Room Cleaners (as in loud talking along corridors) outside my door at 6:30am. I had set my alarm for 8:30am only to be woken by these ladies. Not too keen on the breakfast staff either - I stood waitng to be seated only to be stared at for 5 mins then one girl came up and said from 5 yards away ' if you want breakfast then just take a seat' quite abrubt.
Review 55:Pillows.
Review 56:Distance from airport beneficial, made start of journey easier. Also closeness of car park to Speedbird in a real asset. Friendliness of staff great.
Review 57:Poor wifi The bars last orders about 11:30pm Tryin to get food when it said it only shut at 11:00pm, (this was 10:30pm) and they said the kitchen was shut. The price of a room for a night £100 including breakfast
Review 58:Handy with the airport. Facilities OK Friendly staff Breakfast really good (extra £10)
Review 59:very busy for breakfast, had to wait in line for about 10 mins, first time for us,usually straight in, certain member off staff seemed "stressed"
Review 60:proximity to airport, good staff, free wifi and airport shuttle.
Review 61:The rooms were excellent value for money. No frills but everything required for a comfortable stay. Very fast WiFI. Extra pillows and blanket. Great to be at the airport. Asked for 2 rooms together as no interconnecting rooms available. End of corridor was very quiet. Restaurant had good food and service.
Review 62:Restaurant service was very poor. Young waiting staff not well trained and kitchen failing to cope with demand. Waited 1hr 20 mins for our basic meal...and mine was a salad!
Review 63:Closeness to airport for early morning flight. Shuttle bus driver was very cheery at 5am!
Review 64:Could here the people above me walking about and people switching lights on and off all night, this could be down to the individual rather than the norm for the hotel, but at £135 for a night, I expected better. As I had to be up at 5:30 for check in , it was a bit annoying
Review 65:Close to airport , clean , nice staff
Review 66:Room smell like an ashtray. Though it is non smoking hotel, probably carpets and the wallpapers were not changed since smoking times. Room smell of old cigarettes.
Review 67:Walking distance from the terminal.
Review 68:The hotel is usually full, so book in advance.
Review 69:Free shuttle bus to my required heliport at the time I requested. Staff were very helpful. Rooms were very clean and bed was comfortable. I will definately stay there again.
Review 70:Very poor breakfast for the cost.
Review 71:Proximity to airport, also complimentary taxi to the airport, as the shuttle does not start till 5am. Very professional and helpful staff.
Review 72:Nothing.
Review 73:It was much quieter than we expected which was good. A relaxed start to our short holiday. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Will recommend to friends.
Review 74:The restaurant could offer waffles or pancakes.
Review 75:While I was there on business the staff was beyond helpful to my wife giving her directions and tips to maximize her time in Scotland. They were superb and excellent! We would recommend this facility to any travelers seeking a economical hotel with a staff who go out of their way to be helpful.
Review 76:Noise from 7:00a.m onwards sounded like rotorblades non stop. Better double glazing.
Review 77:Bit of a mix up with breakfast, my paperwork showed I had paid for breakfast but hotel bill did not include breakfast. Rather annoying although the staff were very helpful. Only other comment the airport bus was great but it might be an idea to have a small step available as it was very difficult for my elderly Mother to get down from the bus.
Review 78:Impossible to escape the television in the bar.
Review 79:Very friendly staff. Entirely adequate if unremarkable bar meal. Courteous and efficient airport transfers.
Review 80:No lift so had to carry bags upstairs to the room - but I realize that it probably wouldn't be feasible to install a lift. Also, the bed mattress was so uncomfortably soft.
Review 81:Convenient for the airport, a free shuttle bus to the airport, very helpful and friendly staff and we were able to check in early. Good sized room and quiet surroundings.
Review 82:Nothing
Review 83:I needed to freshen up for a meeting after the flight before checkin time and was delighted that the girls on at the time were able to accomadate me.very friendly nice staff.
Review 84:I was on the first flight to Shetland in the morning. The hotel is so well placed that I could get up, shower, breakfast and walk to the airport terminal to catch my flight at 6.40am without getting up too early. I have used the hotel several times over a few years but I am not a regular. Each visit has been a positive experience.
Review 85:Terrible food, bog standard hotel which is over priced like the rest of the hotels in Aberdeen. Freezing cold shower in the morning, staff didn’t seem to care when complaint was brought to their attention.
Review 86:Good WIFI and location.
Review 87:Would recommend that the hotel has a minibus shuttle between Dyce train station as majority of personnel going offshore and staying close to departing heli ports
Review 88:Close proximity to airport.
Review 89:just noise from the helicopters through the windows but this is a difficult fix
Review 90:everything was good all the staff as well its my favourite place so central for what i have to do
Review 91:the restaurant was very busy which meant a long wait for food and there are no nearby alternatives
Review 92:close to the airport with a free shuttle service, even at early hours
Review 93:The low level that the receptionists sit behind a high counter, causing a problem for people with hearing difficulties to get a face to face view as I use lip reading to supplement my hearing aids.
Review 94:I suffer from hearing loss and the receptionist was patient and courteous to me as I struggled to make out what she was saying as I checked in, due to the layout of reception desk
Review 95:would have liked a shower cap and a facecloth in the room.
Review 96:Front office staff and the ability to have transportation to the airport The restaurant and again the staff there, excellent.
Review 97:Had to wait an hour in the restaurant for dinner which consisted of a simple steak and chips, was not informed of any delay nor was given an apology when it finally arrived. Was woken at 6:30am by the maids clattering about outside my room, this persisted so just decided to get up 2 hours earlier than I'd planned to. I appreciate this hotel caters to offshore staff (of which I am one) who will often have an early start, however, just because a room has been vacated doesn't mean it has to be turned over there and then! Feel this place has gotten greedy and let standards slip, I appreciate it's a captive market but they've taken it for granted to the extent that I won't stay here again. You wouldn't pay these prices if it was coming out your own pocket (£4.75 a coke anyone?) Better nearby options are available!
Review 98:Noise at 5am of Oil rig workers departing for their offshore helicopter flights. The hotel is geared up for single Oil & Gas workers, not couples on holiday. Breakfast was served by a girl who looked as if she were sucking on a sour lemon. Beds not as good as Premier Inn.
Review 99:Good wifi - quick Disabled parking
Review 100:Location as need to be check in at Heliport 0600 hrs. Sevice: arranging taxi without charge to Heliport. Nice and clean room internet free of charge
Review 101:Breakfast not included and expensive for what it was.
Review 102:Room was spacious, clean and comfortable for the family. Location was minutes to the airport and shuttle was included.
Review 103:Reception staff were very friendly and volunteered helpful advice and good information without prompting. The accomodation was of a high standard and the breakfast first class and fast service.
Review 104:The main issue that I had was that the door to the room had a large gap at the bottom of the door and because of the large gap the light from the hall way shined onto the bed like a spotlight - I had to place my suitcase in-front of the door to resolve the problem. In the morning I did inform the reception about the problem and they did state that they would try to resolve the problem (because I only stayed in the hotel for 1 night I cannot comment on whether the problem was resolved)
Review 105:The location and the helpfulness of the staff
Review 106:The restaurant next door was a bit pricey and food could have been better. Staff were nice tho.
Review 107:The reception staff were friendly. Close to at the airport and hire car facilities - you can walk from the Speedbird Inn to the airport in a couple of minutes. The free wi-fi is convenient, with a computer in Reception to use free of charge.
Review 108:I booked the wrong date and called up once I'd realised my mistake! This was quickly addressed by the efficient staff and I was re-booked for another date at short notice.
Review 109:Breakfast was poor and over-priced. Sausages so poor that one had health concerns. Difficult to understand how this is in interests of hotel unless breakfast is seen as main profit generator
Review 110:Clean environment, efficient staff and handily located with onsite car parking
Review 111:Even with half northsea crew being paid off, hotel prices don't seem to drop in relation?
Review 112:Close to the airport terminal
Review 113:Internet speed not enough.
Review 114:Nothing at the Speedbird however I didn't like finding out my wife was having more sex than me...
Review 115:Very efficient and polite staff. Very helpful.
Review 116:THE FOOD CHOICE OF DINNER MENU AND THE QUALITY AND PRESENTATION WAS POOR AND OVER PRICED
Review 117:CLOSE TO THE AIRPORT
Review 118:Bar can feel a bit intimidating with offshore workers
Review 119:Location, cost of room and airport transfers
Review 120:Cooked breakfast could be better will leave it out Next stay.
Review 121:Excellent hotel, Near airport, Clean room.
Review 122:Proximity to the airport.
Review 123:Perfect location for airport terminal. Friendly helpful staff. Nice meal. Very clean. Great value. My only choice when flying from Aberdeen.
Review 124:Bar meal was excellent value for money
Review 125:Friendly staff, location for travel and being able to have a meal without having to go elsewhere.
Review 126:very clean and most comfortable
Review 127:The convenience at the airport
Review 128:Situation . Value for money . Good breakfast and cheery staff.
Review 129:Nice comfortable room. Clean with plenty of room for all of us.
Review 130:Perfect location for overnight stay prior to early morning flight from Aberdeen Airport.
The Fine Print
