Reviews for Eastbury Hotel
Review 1:Nothing that I experienced
Review 2:It is a lovely hotel that fits in with the the persona of Sherborne without lacking in comfort or everyday needs. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the breakfast was superb.
Review 3:Our bedroom was somewhat 'tired', particularly the bathroom. In fairness to the hotel the room info stated that some areas were to be given a make-over. If this is done in the manner of the rest of the hotel, it will be of a high standard.
Review 4:Wonderful location. A happy feel to the hotel with outstanding staff
Review 5:Really good location, friendly and helpful staff, considerate. Lot of thought has gone into this hotel and its services. Proprietors personal touch and hands on approach really shows.
Review 6:Water pressure in the shower was quite low.
Review 7:Very friendly and helpful staff. Extremely good breakfast with a wide range of hot items all made to order. Scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. Very nice single room with a good selection of cable TV channels and free wi-fi.
Review 8:The room, like every hotel room I have ever been in any where in the world was too warm for me---That's just me. I opened the window that was better. .
Review 9:Good staff, good atmosphere, good food, decent price-very good value for money. I was in the area for business but I will return for pleasure.
Review 10:However...I don't like background music when having breakfast!
Review 11:The friendly professional and helpful attitude of the staff and the peaceful feel of the dining area and garden.
Review 12:The curtains were not light resistant in the early morning. We could not turn off the television using the remote control. We were told when we complained that it would cost some £75 to replace them . My wife asked for crispy bacon but this was not served.
Review 13:Very good location
Review 14:Initial rooms facing the road partly above the entrance, led to a very uncomfortable first night due to the wedding guests coming and going. Wifi unfortunately also inconsistent .
Review 15:Willingness of staff to accommodate us after we had no such a great experience the first night with a wedding going on till late. Quiet superior rooms thereafter were a real treat. Staff generally friendly and helpful.
Review 16:Very noisy for a weekday stay. For the price and location one expects a peaceful stay. Instead we had proms on the Monday and Tuesday night.
Review 17:Location and breakfast
Review 18:I think it is 10-15% overpriced - but I will stay there again because of its location and staff and friendliness
Review 19:The location, staff, garden, bar and breakfast are all excelwnt
Review 20:Only one very minor comment - the water pressure for the shower in my bathroom was a bit low. Didn't matter - just took longer!
Review 21:The hotel has been extended and improved since I was last there about 7 years ago. The atmosphere, friendliness of the staff, breakfast & dinner all first class
Review 22:not a bad experience, but the bed was very hot,- it was duvet or nothing. My husband found the bed hard and woke with a sore back.
Review 23:we met a friend in town and the hotel gave the three of us tea in the lounge -good, quick and friendly service
Review 24:N/a. First room in the first leg of the visit was a little small but it was a short notice booking, so understandable.
Review 25:Very helpful staff. Excellent food for dinner and breakfast, generous to include breakfast in room rate.
Review 26:There wasn't anything that I didn't like. Except for the fire alarm going off at 6.30am on Sunday morning!!
Review 27:The location and feel of the hotel was perfect. Bought bags of the wonderful Muesli. Staff were excellent and friendly.
Review 28:For a de-luxe booking the bathroom was a joke with no separate shower, a bath with an old fashioned tap in the middle of the bath,a broken drain stopper and little water flow from the cold tap.
Review 29:Staff very attentive. Food excellent
Review 30:Nothing
Review 31:The welcome. The friendly staff. The lounge and bar area.my room. The ease of obtaining pots of tea. Nothing was any trouble for the lovely staff.the central location was ideal a short walk to the charming high street and historic castles.in the summer it would be wonderful to sit in the gardens.
Review 32:WiFi unavailable in our room Bathroom a bit dated and plumbing was a little problematic but hotel did fix it quickly
Review 33:Very peaceful location and handy to the town Excellent breakfast and huge! Large, comfortable room
Review 34:My mother is not very mobile & there were lots of steps everywhere! No problem for those who do not have walking difficulties though.
Review 35:Proximity to the town Beds were extremely comfortable Beautiful gardens Attentive helpful staff
Review 36:We used two delux double rooms, neither had shaving mirrors.
Review 37:vicinity to town centre excellent, relaxed atmosphere, clean, well appointed rooms with tea coffee and homemade biscuits etc. attractive walled gardens, good local produce breakfast menu , service was efficient and polite.
Review 38:a little bit of creaky floorboards from room(s) above at night
Review 39:ease of parking good location for access to town facilities helpful staff - esp receptionist staff helped with our enquiries re town and surrounding areas quiet at night time
Review 40:In this age of expected instant communication, this lovely hotel sadly lacks easily established WiFi connection. As did I, I overheard a number of international guests/businessmen saying how difficult it was to even connect....a problem simple and cost effective to remedy...Mike.
Review 41:Most everything!!
Review 42:The staff were very helpful. Made us feel at home, we travel with our young daughter and she was made to feel very welcome at all times, especially in the restaurant. Great food and great staff happy stay
Review 43:The bathroom was small and we had to keep our wash kit bag on the floor.
Review 44:It was end of August and outside was freezing. We arrived from the rainy campsite of Sherborne castle after the Sealed Knot re-enactment event and the room was kept very warm. Splendid tea selections so we dived in the cups!
Review 45:The bedroom was a little small for the price, However the bed was very comfortable.
Review 46:Pleasant helpful staff. Good choice at breakfast, nice setting and gardens.
Review 47:Parking was tight and disorganised. Another guest bumped our car, and didn't own up! Some taps in the bathrooms open with an anti-clockwise turn and others with a clockwise turn, but nice powerful shower.
Review 48:Queen size bed. Friendly staff. Cooked breakfasts were good, with choice of standard cooked, smoked salmon and scrambled or ham and cheese.Dining room overlooked gardens. We were in the attic and could open the skylights, when it wasn't raining, for extra ventilation.
Review 49:Really comfortable and nicely fitted out single room. Had expected an indifferent garrett at the top of a building. The reality was so different. Would highly recommend the Eastbury to other single travellers.
Review 50:Door key to "Geranium" was temperamental. Car park at rear meant long walk along gravel path with luggage to reception.
Review 51:Quiet location with extensive grounds yet near the town centre. Breakfast room overlooking the large garden area.
Review 52:Single rooms are small and the walls quite thin
Review 53:A good quality hotel with nice touches of refinement and luxury

Review 79:The Staff. They couldn't have been more friendly or lovely.
Review 80:Location Comfort Staff really helpful
Review 81:Lily room, would have preferred a proper shower rather than a hand held one.
Review 82:Our bathroom/bedroom needed some tissues.
Review 83:The hotel was homely, not too big, & not "glitzy"!

Review 93:Sleeping bed is ok
Review 94:Can't say I had any dislikes
Review 95:Good quality food, lovely ambiance
Review 96:Room key was temparamental at times.
Review 97:The location, room and extensive gardens.
Review 98:I nearly got caught out by the step in the single room in the middle of the night - between the bed and the en suite bathroom. It is lit though and I did know it was there! That said I'm sure there are many rooms without a step and I certainly wouldn't let this put me off from definitely booking again
Review 99:Great location - 5 - 10 minute walk from the railway station and just along the road from the shops, Abbey and Castles. Very comfortable bed and great breakfast. Lovely garden too - particularly so on a sunny day. Staff very friendly and helpful
Review 100:bar was closed after 1am to guest as well, but it was new years eve/day.
Review 101:the staff could not be more helpful! super kind and helpful in all our needs.
Review 102:Windows at the front rattled a bit in the wind and traffic noise but got to sleep ok as traffic stopped around ten ish.
Review 103:Lovely staff. Big breakfast. Only there for one night but was fine
Review 104:We had a room at the very top with a tiny window. Was slightly apprehensive in case of fire. I imagine the other rooms are more easily accessible with bigger windows. we were unable to have evening dinner because of a party so unable to give a fair comment. It was still a pleasant stay - thank you.
Review 105:Lovely location. Clean and comfortable. good breakfast. High standard thank you.
Review 106:The friendliness of staff, breakfast was lovely, dinning room staff were wonderfully welcoming , liked the fact that there was no disturbance of noise from the kitchen, lovely views of the garden and beautiful way to start the day. Staff was very helpful in booking us in at a restaurant for dinner as the Dinning room was booked for a function both nights of our stay, they rang us when we booked and notified us of this which was a lovely touch . The room was beautifully clean and very comfortable. The dressing gowns were very much appreciated We loved every minute of our stay, we will return.
Review 107:Single room was very small and had a very low ceiling. Bathroom needs modernising, had to duck to get under shower
Review 108:Car Park round back is a massive bonus
Review 109:Lovely building, well kept and clean, everything you need, staff extremely helpful. Beautiful garden - breakfast room looks out on it. Extremely good breakfast selection. Better single room than one often finds!
Review 110:Price, staff tried to be helpful and friendly but young and rather informal for or taste. Dinners rather fanciful, too much interst in presentation father than food which israther typical of award winning restaurants
Review 111:Bed room, nearness to centre of Sherborne, breakfast the best choice I have ever encountered (second best is in a feiendly guest houe in Southampton), gardens.
Review 112:One evening the dining room was a little busy and the young staff were struggling to keep up. We waited ages for drinks. They could have done with one of their excellent more experienced members there to support them.
Review 113:Nice relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Breakfasts were the best. Room was traditional and very comfortable and well equipped. Price provided a very good package dinner b and b. The hotel is well located and parking was easy outside the hotel / hotel car park and we could walk into town.
Review 114:Bar dident seem that intrested in customers, no Draft bitter maybe understaffed in bar ?
Review 115:very good food, room clean, nice outlook, town center (but you dident know it|)
Review 116:Didn't like the ceiling height while in the shower. Hairdryer in the bathroom or trouser press did not work.
Review 117:The receptionist was very friendly and professional. The room was over priced
Review 118:Room at front of hotel, noise from road sometimes intrusive particularly in early morning
Review 119:Staff friendly, breakfast superb, room spotless and very comfortable (though small, being a single) - liked the extras such as a jar of biscuits to go with tea
Review 120:Quaint placement and movement of taps in bathroom Very small shower Over fancy and very expensive dinner menu Generally pretenscious
Review 121:Central location Large bedroom - I think we were very lucky others looked really small Excellent breakfast
Review 122:A comfortable and friendly hotel created by tastefully modifiying a range of old buildings to provide well appointed but individually styled rooms. It is close to the town centre but still manages to have a large garden and feels tucked away and cosy.
Review 123:All good!
Review 124:The room was very comfortable, and the ensuite was excellent. Thewelcome was warm and friendly, and went that extra mile to make you feellike a welcome guest.
