Reviews for Petersons Armidale Winery and Guesthouse

Review 1:We were not directed to our room on arrival and after parking our car we trudged around in rain for quite a while before another guest came to our rescue.

Review 2:Charming old homestead with very comfortable suite. Enjoyed talking to other guests. Excellent meal but quite expensive. Lovely breakfast.

Review 3:A few annoying flies. A problem I know with many people going in and out. But some solution for fly wire doors would be good. In the restaurant the windows were open (good) but that revealed many dead flies and other bugs on the sill. Should be cleaned when windows are opened.

Review 4:The ambience. The lounge and pre dinner drinks. The breakfast and dinner

Review 5:Dinner was good but not exceptional. One had the feeling that portions were very measured, we had to ask for more bread. The room was comfortable but no easy chair, and in summer even with the fan provided, would be very stuffy.

Review 6:Homestead atmosphere, friendly and very helpful staff.

Review 7:One of our rooms had not been cleaned properly & had to be vacuumed. We sat down before dinner for a drink & were served WARM champagne..The manager Kimberley flitted off at this time & left the chef in charge. He didn't even know how to pour champagne!! Other guests arrived & she was not there to greet them. Poor performance overall from her.

Review 8:Love the location & the atmosphere of the property.

Review 9:Hmmmm, need a lot more time to find an answer to that, other than our stay was too short. We'll be back again

Review 10:The Guest House, Staff friendliness and hospitality, Quality well prepared meals, Relaxed atmosphere

Review 11:Dinner menu was a little restrictive. There weren't options for non-meat eaters such as vegetarians or those who didn't feel like meat on the night.

Review 12:Stately manor with large, luxurious and comfortable rooms, and lovely gardens with with a relaxing, sunlit yard.

Review 13:Beautiful Property. Helpful Staff. Lovely room, Best hotel bed ever. Deep bath. Wonderful meal then sitting by the fire in the Great Hall with cheese platter and Muscat and Port. We will be back

Review 14:The warm reception. the marvellous living room fires on a cold night. Being able to stay in for a nice dinner after a long days drive. The grandeur of the house itself and the very fine room we had.

Review 15:From the very welcoming and obliging hostesses, simply devine meals and absolutely gorgeous accomodation; our stay in one of Armidale's most opulent homesteads was exquisite!

Review 16:Wonderful guest house with limited rooms, dinner onsite if desired, period architecture and furnishing, serene grounds with established trees, cattle and horses in the paddocks, vineyard with cellar door in converted horse stables, would come again without hesitation.

Review 17:Ordered medium rare steak for dinner it was good but more medium to well.

Review 18:Location away from the crowd. Beautiful reception/lounge with wood panelling.

Review 19:There was a lot of dust on the blinds in the bedroom and bathroom. Also a lot of dust on the doors in the breast room. Otherwise, we could not fault it. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 20:House was charming. Big log fires, comfy sofas, beautifully furnished bedroom. Dinner was very good, again a log fire in the dining room. Breakfast was excellent. A complimentary bottle of house wine on departure, a nice touch.

Review 21:Nothing bad. Would definitely recommend if staying in Armidale or surrounds.

Review 22:Relaxed atmosphere. Quality of facilities. Excellent dining. Service and staff.

Review 23:The staff are warm and friendly, the manager - Alysha give us a lift to UNE on her way to the airport. The room is very comfortable, food are great and during check out we got a bottle of wine as complimentary. Overall very positive experiences :)

Review 24:Nothing

Review 25:The setting was fantastic And the guesthouse was beautiful. The service was personal and the food was great. Thoroughly recommend this place to all. One look and you will be sold.

Review 26:Nothing.

Review 27:Friendly and welcoming staff, fantastic lounge and appealing bedrooms. Even with only two other guests a fire was made up in both the lounge and dining room for our stay. This was a very pleasant experience and we will return to enjoy the local surrounds.

Review 28:Not an efficient heating system in the room. The grouting in the shower needs to be stripped and reapplied as it was black. It would have been nice to have had a cappuccino machine.

Review 29:The large room and the heated floor in Bathroom.

Review 30:Location good but not easily signposted

Review 31:This wonderful spot draws you into it's homely feel with the facilities you expect from a high class boutique hotel. Fresh home cooked food, a shared camaraderie with the other guests and a stillness that just means you have no choice but relax. Staff great and very helpful.

Review 33:Heating in the bedroom left something to be desired. The serving of breakfast seemed to be a little disorganised and took a long time.

Review 80:Everything, the accommodation, the atmosphere, the grounds, the winery and the wine - especially the Pinot Noir.

Review 81:Everthing

Review 82:We liked the guest house, the grounds, the wine, the food, the staff.

Review 83:Very relaxing and welcoming

Review 84:Most relaxing sitting in the 'hall' by the lovely big fire. We enjoyed our two night stop over, everything from the period building to the outside grounds was wonderful.

Review 85:Lavatory seat in bathroom not secure.

Review 86:Staff helpful - good to excellent. the ambience of the drawing room, breakfast room and the terrific garden. The secluded location away from Highway and town proper.

Review 87:The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom had a beautiful claw bath, just the best. When we arrived we were shown around and said we could relax in the lounge area with with the warmth coming from the open fireplace and a drink provided. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. When we go to Armidale we would not stay any where else in the area. This is on our favourite list.

Review 88:No television in our room.!!!! Breakfast disappointing, chef got eggs wrong, (over cooked) and cold each morning.

Review 89:Dinner was of a high standard. Staff pleasant and helpful. Lovely setting.

Review 90:Dinner was a little disappointing, not very creative and a bit more like a dinner party meal. Adequate but not exactly fine dining.

Review 91:Lovely gracious old building and a good place to stay if travelling down the New England Highway from Qld to NSW

Review 92:Because we booked so late, the dining room was not open so we couldn't sample the beautiful menu.

Review 93:The beautiful house. The delightful girl who greeted us. The grounds. The friendly girl who served breakfast and took us to the winery. The bedroom. The history. (We would love to have found out more)

Review 94:No air con or bar fridge (it's a winery, where do I keep my wine chilled?) or TV.

Review 95:We liked having strong water pressure in the shower. Breakfast was lovely. The grounds and interior were impressive.

Review 96:The home and grounds were just beautiful. The meal we had in the dining room was as good as you would get in a fine dining restaurant in Sydney. The breakfast served in the breakfast room was also one of the best I have had. It was just wonderful sitting on the expansive verandah taking in the view of the garden, reading and drinking wine with a background of soft piped music. The only fault is the distance from Sydney.

Review 97:An Architectural gem, wonderful grounds, good food and discreet relaxed service. As a regular visitor to Australia an amazing find, can't recommend it too highly.

Review 98:Historical building, well maintained, modern rooms, beautifull gardens, guaranteed quiet relaxing time, wine tasting during day.Friendly attentive staff, by far best available rooms in Armidale about 4/5 k from town centre.

Review 99:There is nothing we do not like about Peterson's Armidale Winery and Guesthouse.

Review 100:Geoff and I love staying at Peterson's Armidale Winery and Guesthouse. We are repeat visitors and appreciate the ambience, the great staff, the food and the beautifully appointed rooms. The staff were very understanding when we couldn't arrive by 2100 because of a detour because of bushfires and were more than willing to make us welcome by leaving the key and fresh milk for a cup of tea when we arrived.

Review 101:We did enjoy the food, but if we were going to pick anything it would have to be that it was fairly standard.

Review 102:Amazing place, wine, room, facilities, staff, location.

Review 103:A very fine ambience in this delightfully restored winery. Complimentary port or muscat in the Great hall with two wood fires blazing was a relaxing way to end a day's driving. The restaurant meal was excellent, as was the breakfast in the sunny morning room. All the staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms were comfortable, and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was an added luxury. I would unreservedly recommend Petersons Winery at Armidale.

Review 104:There was nothing to dislike - everything superb

Review 106:Was relaxing and quiet, meals was of very highstandard, maybe someof the best meals I have tasted. Bit more reading matter about the Guest house would be good.Over all excellent,

Review 107:A very relaxing place to visit. The service was great but recognized privacy of guests. The food and wines were great. Well heated for an old Armidale homestead.

Review 108:There is nothing I could say to improve the venue.

Review 109:Gorgeous home with lovely ambiance. Dinner was first class and very reasonably priced for the quality of the dishes served. Free bottle of wine on departure is a nice touch, as is the wine tasting before dinner. Comfortable bed. I really liked the quiet surroundings for a excellent rest. Breakfast first class.

Review 110:Bath towels very small and worn dreadful hangers in the wardrobe Staff not visible Had to ring and wait at a door for staff. Rather a strange arrangement

Review 111:Lovely location extremely comfortable bed excellent food at dinner and breakfast. Loved the spa bath. Bottle if wine when leaving a very nice touch

Review 112:Nothing was too much trouble. We checked in effortlessly and asked for a bottle of wine and cheese plate on arrival and it was delivered quickly. The evening meal was delicious and our son and two friends enjoyed it very much.

Review 113:The historic house is beautiful and a must see. The staff are also friendly and welcoming. The rooms are well appointed, spacious and gorgeous relections of a byegone era while offering all mod cons.We enjoyed dinner which was delicious and sampling the vineyard's wine was also very enjoyable.

Review 114:No air conditioning in room (only fan).

Review 115:Comfortable and friendly. Excellent food (breakfast and dinner). Could select wine for dinner after tasting at winery.

Review 116:Leaving!
