Reviews for The Four Seasons Hotel
Review 1:As a vegetarian, would have liked some exciting vegetarian options. Some variety.
Review 2:Friendly, helpful staff. Location good, close to Centre, but just far enough away from hustle and bustle.
Review 3:The staff to a person were courteous and obliging - especially Diane. From the moment we arrived Diane took care of us and was especially helpful in getting us settled in a lovely newly refurbished room.
Review 4:Beautiful hotel with a relaxing atmosphere. Staff were very helpful and attentive. It was such a good experience we decided to stay an extra night to enjoy the hotels facilities and the nearby village. Will definitely return very soon!
Review 5:fry breakfast not great - cold hash browns, terrible tasting sausages and bacon. We had 1st room in corridor so very noisy throughout the night with people swiping in and out and the doors banging together - would advise people to ask for a room further down corridor.!
Review 6:Fab new decor and furniture in foyer. Bar trendy and inviting. Continental breakfast very nice especially fruit salad. Perfect location to pubs. Lovely hotel!
Review 7:I expected it to be a much nicer hotel. I felt it could have been nicer for the name of the hotel!
Review 8:The bar staff were lovely. Had no problem cooking for out intelorances. Bar area was nice
Review 9:The food was not great. Ie the breakfast very oily
Review 10:Staff where great. We where at a wedding and at the wedding the bar staff where a little slow to saver people so you where loosing out on money there
Review 11:There was nothing we didn't like, in fact we can't wait to go back!
Review 12:Our room was lovely, and staff were very helpful. We loved the swimming pool and gym and used the facilities every day. Food was great too. We had a great visit, it was our second, and hopefully it will not be the last.
Review 13:Bar and Restaurant menu with only five main course options, the food was well below standard. No wifi connection in bedroom, building work
Review 14:Cleanliness, location, spacious room
Review 15:hmmmm nothing really can you complain about the weather here ?:)
Review 16:Perfect for a night stay. Got brekky to the room for€3.50 so you didn't have to be up and de-jammied at 10am :) Short distance into the town perfecto
Review 17:the only thing that i could complain about was the fan/heater in bathroom was extreemly noisy.we had to keep bathroom door closed all the time.
Review 18:the view was amazing.rooms very spacious. really comfy beds.
Review 19:Room seemed a little ratty, given its a Four Seasons it's the little things noticed such as noisy bathroom fan, broken shower body wash dispenser and saggy mattress. Broken button in lift felt dangerous too
Review 20:Great location and easy checkin, friendly staff :-)
Review 21:Excellent hotel with great staff. I stayed at the Four Seasons in October for a wedding and was very happy. Thank you to all at the Four Seasons for a great week end!
Review 22:Hair dryer lead too short!
Review 23:From the minute we walked in, we felt cosy and relaxed. The rooms were excellent and the staff all seemed very happy to help. Definitely coming back
Review 24:Terrible breakfast , sausages are too disgusting to describe and the rest was poor, service ok but required lots of prompts just to get tea/coffee.
Review 25:Location
Review 26:Steps to lobby are tricky when dealing with suitcases. No temperature control to room. It was a little stuffy. Could open balcony door for fresh air - but only a short-term solution since balcony was not a secure area.
Review 27:Proper hotel in a world of B&B's
Review 28:Joint room 112, paper walls. Little sleep due to noise. Had to change room at 6am. Shower dangerously slippy. Rooms very warm.
Review 29:The beds were very comfortable. The food was amazing, beautiful location.
Review 30:Location and the staff were so nice they went out of there way to be helpful. Best team of people as a over all group I have come across in a while. Nothing false about them just friendly and ver helpful
Review 31:The bed was very uncomfortable. We have stayed here before and this seems to vary from room to room. Checkin was very very busy and would have benefitted from more staff at reception to help out.
Review 32:Location is perfect for a break in Carlingford. Staff were lovely and very helpful
Review 33:I think I just did
Review 34:staff very god food not great breakfast one of the worst ever had didn't ever bother going down after first night the worst was getting a price of £333 but paying £361 .53 and not getting an real answer when I asked what's the extra for
Review 35:That I had to come home.
Review 36:Really friendly atmosphere loved everything about my stay.Great breakfast and evening meal nothing was too much bother for staff.I have already booked to stay again.
Review 37:No proper orange juice for breakfast 2 days and we were left waiting to be served at the bar a couple of times
Review 38:Nicely laid out hotel with lovely garden
Review 39:Myself and two friends had requested a room for 3 but we're told we couldn't and had to book 2 rooms but when arrived we discovered each room was for 3 people a double bed and single. I wasnt sure why we couldnt have just booked 1 room it would of saved us money.
Review 40:This hotel is so handy to the town
Review 41:Would have prefered room with bath...but the shower was powerful.
Review 42:Everything......most friendly staff.....warm and comfotable a lovely atmosphere and made very welcome on arrival
Review 43:We had small baby with us so are in hotel bar both evenings and food was not great I would not recommend! Booked this hotel particularly because it had a pool but the pool was quite run down and the water to me did not seem clean it was quite murky/cloudy you could not see down to the bottom and not great changing facilities if swimming with a baby!
Review 44:Beautiful views comfortable rooms!
Review 45:I was not informed while booking or upon checkin in that the changing rooms at the pool were being decorated. The staff did not tell me that there was an alternative room, therefore on the 1st day my children came up to the room still wet from the pool.I was unable to use the pool and other facilities for that reason. If i had known there were no proper changing facilities i would not have stayed in the hotel during the time of decoration.
Review 46:The locatoon
Review 47:Very noisy Friday nite, wedding on, doors banging etc.
Review 48:The Mourne room, lovely view, quiet mid week. Barman with the beard very friendly and pleasant. Singer on Tue p.m very good, 7th July.
Review 49:I didn't think it was the calibre of a four star. Breakfast wasn't the best I've had. Staff were hard to get hold of and there were limited choices.
Review 50:Lovely location, lovely foyer and gardens.
Review 51:My partner is on crutches at mo,staff could not do enough for us. We decided to stay an extra night and although hotel was fully booked they facilitated us.
Review 52:Nothing about this hotel that I didn't like.
Review 53:Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Allowed us to change rooms without fuss. We had booked doubles instead of twins.
Review 54:Squeakiest bed I've ever slept in. Breakfast ordered to room didn't arrive. Made some rubbish excuse. Was ok when delivered by 2 unsmiling harried ladies. Reception staff very pleasant but need a bit of welcoming oomph.
Review 55:Stunning setting. Bar and resturant staff lovely. Great big room and bathroom. Spotless. Evening meal very well priced.
Review 56:No air conditioning in the bedroom which was a bit hot at night for our preference - we do like a cool bedroom at night.
Review 57:Friendly staff, good food, great location.
Review 58:Breakfast was not great. Surprised and a little disappointed that i was refused wedding discount because I booked ourselves and the grooms grandmother myself.
Review 59:Location, facilities, staff all excellent, dinner. Perfect place for perfect wedding.
Review 60:While the food in the restaurant was tasty the menu was limited and the service was a bit disorganised. The free Wifi is only available in common areas and not the bedrooms.
Review 61:The room was pleasant as was the swimming pool and leisure facilities and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 62:The breakfast was not great the quality of the produce let them down, as did the service, no staff on our first morning, Cheap sausages, shame!!
Review 63:Spectacular setting for a relaxing stay easy access to all sites and town Helpful polite staff and comfortable big room.
Review 64:The room was so dirty and we could hear everything being done or said in the room beside us!! The rooms are not worth the money.
Review 65:The staff were really nice and friendly.
Review 66:For the money we paid, I really assumed there would be bathroom products. After a long day and night I would have liked to wash my hair or even soak in a bath but there was just the standard squirt bottle of poor quality soap in the shower with no conditioner. I mentioned 'tired' in the title as you notice things like broken tiles, frayed bedspreads etc. Finally I was very surprised that there was no hotel directory in the room and no local information.
Review 67:Carlingford is a great location and the hotel is very well situated. We had a partial view of the Lough and a partial view of a flat roof! But overall a pleasant aspect
Review 68:The walls were so thin we could hear the couple next door, the bed was really uncomfortable, the breakfast was of very poor standard.
Review 69:The location was beautiful carlingford a lovely heritage town
Review 70:that there was no iron in the bedroom and the wifi didn't work when we where here due to electrical faults at the time but i know this couldn't of been helped
Review 71:I loved the food and the staff where friendly and the surrounding gardens are beautiful
Review 72:We didnt have a bad experieince though I did e mail the hotel in advance to ask about entertainment in the hotel on St Patricks Day or evening and got no reply. Surprised there was little happening in the hotel itself when we did arrive. The town was very busy which was great but we were part of a party of 8 therefore found it difficult to get a seat in any of the pubs. If entertainment had been on in the hotel, we likely would have stayed there.
Review 73:The hotel was easy to find and was clean, rooms all a good size and food - carvery and breakfast - both excellent. The bar area was lovely but not many in the hotel so not much atmosphere without music. We used the pool, sauna and jaccuzi and loved it!
Review 74:No bath and no table service to take your order food was good tho had lovely steak. Book a double room and got a family room leaving double bed small
Review 75:Attention to detail, no lid on toilet bin, towels tired looking, tiles in bathroom badly cracked needed repairing. its the little things that make a difference.
Review 76:Staff very friendly and welcoming and a superb breakfast.
Review 77:We had room no 100 this time which was right beside doorway which was quite nosey at night time, there was quite a bit a noise an we were woken up several times, it wouldn't put us of as it was just an inconvenient part if the hotel.
Review 78:Third visit at four seasons carlingford we go every valentines now an will definitely be back
Review 79:We love the Four Seasons. We got married there 3 years ago. The setting is next to none and hotel and staff are fab. Got upgraded and lovely strawberries and chocs and happy anniversary message. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Will see yas next anniversary if not sooner!! :)
Review 80:The leisure facilities not.the cleanest. I was told.to buy a swim hat yet there was people.in the.pool not wearing any.
Review 81:The. Bed was very comfy, great room. Breakfast staff were.great.
Review 82:our room was above pool and ther was very loud noise started at 11.30 till 3am. no way anyone could sleep throu it. staff on duty moved us to another room but they obviously aware of noise said it was water siphon or something not good enough!
Review 83:location,pool, good breakfast
Review 84:Breakfast totally disorganised system and quality of food was very poor indeed - worst we have ever experienced in Ireland and drowned in dreadful baked beans - truly awful! Ran out of OJ by 9.00am. Cheap/poor selection of food. Common areas uninviting. Clearly "resting on laurels" because of good location! Not up to star rating really.
Review 85:Comfortable bedrooms. Leisure centre quite good. Good location. Good security system - but no room safes.
Review 86:not staffs fault. having to wait 15 mins to get a pre dinner aperitif is long. staff were busy carrying and delivering .there was no one idle but no bar person was there to take my order.
Review 87:We liked everything!!
Review 88:Service at the Ft desk was superb! Met the general manager Maraid and she was just super!! and all the staff made our stay very enjoyable. Derek at the pool was very helpful... and a beautiful touch of a lovely bowl of fruit in our room!! We will definitely be back..
Review 89:We were in a room just above the gym (222). The music from the gym made the floor vibrate & it felt like you had a private disco in your room at 10am, if you wanted a nice relaxing lie in, wasn't happening!
Review 90:Very close to town centre, drink was cheaper in the hotel than some of the local bars.
Review 91:Had to go to reception to ask for the room to be made up and get clean towels
Review 92:The staff very friendly and the breakfast was very good and the location was excellent
Review 93:It's a very good value for money stay. The interior hallways could do with being freshened up however.
Review 94:Staff are very friendly, professional and helpful. Food is very good. Very good leisure facilities.
Review 95:Were not enough choices for breakfast.
Review 96:Loved the location great view of Carlingford Lough and lovely places to walk. Very close to pubs and restaurants. Hotel was very comfortable and very welcoming staff when we returned at night time and a last drink before bed time.
Review 97:Great location, very friendly helpful staff, had lovely carvery lunch, breakfast was ok. The room we stayed in was adequate, basic but clean. We got a good price for a sunday night stay so thought we got what we paid for. We would return.
Review 98:We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel, perfect location just metres from the town centre, staff were pleasant and helpful and the room upgrade was a lovely touch !! And laughter at the breakfast --what more could you want ! ! We will return ! Martin& Tina xx
Review 99:For a four star hotel the standard of the room was very poor eg the bedwas the smallest we double we have ever slept in and the adjoining doorto another room we had to ask the staff to lock. Also this was the firsthotel in Ireland or any other part of Europe that we have stayed in thatdid not have a room safe.
Review 100:The staff where very good ,and the location was excellent
Review 101:Didn't like the phone call saying we didn't clear our bill before checking out we had settled our bar tab in full that evening and even left the staff a tip that really let you down
Review 102:I placed the breakfast tab on door at 7pm to inform staff we wanted breakfast in our room and they never collected it! So no breakfast arrived.
Review 103:Great food, staff, facilities and location. Small issue re: breakfast in room but nothing to cry about.
Review 104:Not many shelves in bathroom or places to put shower toiletries.
Review 105:Very pleasing surroundings. Hotel in prime position. Staff very friendly and pleasant, nothing was too much trouble for them, made us feel very welcome. Food excellent.
Review 106:The music in the bar. Awful stuff. Would drive you to drink!
Review 107:The room was excellent, friendly and helpful staff and a fantastic breakfast, all for an excellent rate. Will definitely be back there. And Carlingford is such a beautiful place.
Review 108:Food had to be sent back as it was under cooked. Staff seemed to be young inexperienced , maybe never studied hospitality. hotel is dated and not value for money. I was very disappointed.
Review 109:Hotel was clean.
Review 110:Hotel, no bath, no room services from 10pm, no fridge, breakfast disgusting many items stale or not fresh, rooms dated and can visually tell its main income is from stags and hens. It looks tired and dated. All furniture needs up dating.
Review 111:I liked carlingford its such a beautiful place, well worth a visit. But next time I will drive straight by the Four Seasons and stay in the BayTree the locals strongly recommend it,
Review 112:My husband and I enjoyed our stay it was our anniversary it's my birthday in January next so we will be back down again lovely breakfast and the staff was so friendly thanks a million
Review 113:Loved the location and staff. But hotel looking rather unloved. Lots of dead hanging baskets at entrance and various dead plants on balcony and elsewhere. Our balcony door neither closed properly or locked. Very large spiders in curtains in bedroom. Silk flowers in bathroom extremly dusty. Jacuzzi broken. Despite all we are hoping to return in the near future !
Review 114:No air conditioning!! Couldn't charge electronics while I was out due to needing key for electric and to get back in.
Review 115:The guys in the bar were excellent!!
Review 116:The breakfast area was very dull with no access to natural light and windows. Sky news was piped throughout the speakers which was very annoying. Who want to listen about people being bombed while eating breakfast.
Review 117:The facilities were great
Review 118:We arrived after midnight, tired and having suffered major airport delays. On finding our room, we discovered that the tea and coffee-making facilities had not been fully replenished. We asked reception for some tea and coffee sachets and were pleasantly surprised to receive not just what we asked for but a freshly-made pot of tea with biscuits, delivered to our room immediately. We were even more pleased when returning to our room the next day to find a complimentary bowl of fruit and chocolates with a note of apology for the "inconvenience" of the previous evening. The "inconvenience" was minor, the response impressive, hitting exactly the right level of service.
Review 119:Room was a little cold. Thin walls meant we could hear all the noise from those in next room. Fortunately they must have retired to bed early so our sleep was not disturbed too much.
Review 120:Nice big room with spacious bathroom. Plenty to eat for breakfast, though the toaster was very slow. Reasonably priced.
Review 121:Lovely room, four poster bed, balcony with sea view, couldnt be better. Nice friendly staff and great facilities, perfect location for busy little summer town and amazing walks/views
Review 122:Some of the waiting staff at wedding reception very rude Room was beside carpark and road so a lot of noise from passing cars and people
Review 123:Lovely location, beautiful grounds, friendly reception staff, warm room, nice bar/restaurant area
Review 124:The bed was way too small. I'm almost 2 meters, so I'm used that beds are not long enough, but bed was also not wide enough. A bit of a bummer for such an expensive hotel and there was enough space in the room for a big bed.
Review 125:Hotel looked better than some reviews said, maybe they did up the rooms lately, because it seemed rooms were renewed not so long ago.
Review 126:Keys had to be reissued 3 times for room access. Too many unattended children running around hotel/grounds. Room phone did not work. Bathtub and jacuzzi were difficult to operate. Waitstaff appeared at times. Room door difficult to open: carpet cut too tightly.
Review 127:Location. Grounds. Coffee. Staff.
Review 128:The shower was awkward to operate and shower curtain a bit grotty although the bathroom itself had been updated.
Review 129:Had a spacious room at the front with lovely view of the lough. The garden area was very attractive and well tended. Great area outside bar/restaurant for eating or drinking. We found the staff very friendly and attentive.
Review 130:Room was adjoined to another family room very noisey, Ordered breakfast in bed didn't arrive,re-ordered from rec. and when it did arrive late no cutlery, had to get dressed and get knives and forks ourselves ( hotel didn't charge for service charge when we complained)
Review 131:Food,locaton,leisure center, clean and excellent staff
Review 132:It was very hot in the room and could not find any air conditioning. The hotel does not have proper maps for the walks around the mountains. It would have been very helpful to have an accurate map of the Slieve Foye and Barnavave walks, as the route markings are really bad.
Review 133:The location is very good, so close to everything, but still far enough to not hear to street noise around the pubs. The availability of the swimming pool is a big bonus, really enjoyed that. Staff was friendly.
Review 134:Cracked tiles in bathroom Spa facilites not clean & very dated Breakfast poor, undercooked & limited choice.
Review 135:General hotel Room very comfortable Staff
