Reviews for The Kings Head

Review 1:The location on the seafront opposite the pier is good and it is only a few minutes walk - ten I suppose straight down the road - from the station. The staff were very friendly and obliging and the bathroom was amazingly good - best shower I have been in for ages.

Review 2:Bed too soft & "lumpy" - not comfortable. Over-priced for season/facilities available in my opinion...

Review 3:Good location, and the room was very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 4:Only drawback is parking. Same for all establishments in Deal. Public car parks unless you lucky enough to get a space on road, and you have to move car every morning. Bit of a pain, and not cheap. But DONT let it put you off, Deal is lovely as is Kings Head.

Review 5:Location, atmosphere of pub, sea view room, brilliant and very hearty breakfasts. Staff absolutely brilliant, landlord and landlady have a chat at breakfast time too! Beer kept beautifully and good pub menu( the ploughmans is more like a plough family meal!!!)

Review 6:It can be a bit noisy on a Saturday night on the ground floor at the front - but not so much that it kept us awake!

Review 7:Friendly staff - the son of the landlord even drove us to a party when the taxi failed to turn up.

Review 8:Check in it felt we were an inconvenience Check out we were ignored, left key on bar Room was very small, double bed tiny and uncomfortable Dreadfully overpriced for what it was

Review 9:From the helpful young ladies who booked us in then showed to our rooms in the annexe to the great service at breakfast next morning the whole experience was great.

Review 10:Nothing to dislike

Review 11:Lovely room with sea view , fantastic shower room ,pub is just what every pub should be ,cosy with open fire, friendly staff ,great pub grub and great beer :)

Review 12:Nothing

Review 13:The friendly staff and the quality of the food. I was recovering from a knee operation and need to "ice" my knee frequently. Not only did they freeze my ice pack but it was always available when I entered the bar. I would recommend it to anybody who likes a cosy atmosphere, not for those who like the staff to be seen but not heard.

Review 14:Great location, friendly staff, good interchangeable English breakfast in the morning, no parking but you can park at the train station just round the corner for £4.50 for the full day, so all good! Will return! 'Sea view chip shop just up the road is possibly the cleanest and freshest fish and chips Ive ever had!

Review 15:We had a wonderful one night stay on the way the way to Calais - just wish it could have been longer. We most certainly be staying there again -for longer next time.

Review 16:We stayed in the guesthouse part a few doors away from the pub so a little quieter. Good size room with newly fitted en suite. Very comfortable. Excellent breakfast taken in the pub. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location with room overlooking the beach and very central for shops and bars. Deal was a lovely place to visit even in November!

Review 17:It was noisy at night, as our room was just over the pub and there was music till late. Would ask for a different room next time.

Review 18:Great location. Nice staff

Review 19:The place does not have parking and there is no long-term parking nearby - two hours max which means we were having to constantly move the car during our stay. I appreciate that is not the fault of the pub but it was annoying. Breakfast is not included in the room price if you book through Booking.com but is if you book direct so it cost us a further £19.50 for breakfast per day (based on 3 people).

Review 20:Clean, modern room (we were in the Annex), good facilities and friendly staff. Reliably informed by other half that the Guiness was good!

Review 21:Staff very friendly and efficient,we ordered a taxi at midday for 7 o clock and although the pub was very busy the girls took the time to make sure are taxi would be on time. Also excellent breakfast.

Review 22:Small room at back of hotel without sea view.. Mattress too soft and skimpy bed-linen. Loud kitchen noises.

Review 23:Room was very clean and private. Staff very friendly and helpful e.g. after vacating the room they rang me quickly to say I had forgotten my small computer and charger.

Review 24:noisy at night with staff throwing bottles out, felt a bit harassed by cleaner turning up early and asking when we were leaving!

Review 25:good location,nice pub.

Review 26:The twin room was excellently situated slightly away from the public house itself, in separate property, recently refurbished to very modern standard, particularly the bathroom, very clean and well furnished and decorated, very comfortable beds and included a beautiful sea-view. The pub itself is excellent, original from the 19th century or earlier, food & services were excellent too, nothing could be faulted, fully recommend anyone to stay here.

Review 27:I think a 10.30 a.m. check-out is too early, especially on a Sunday (I had been down to Deal for a party, so wanted a lie-in!); however when I asked, the staff were accommodating.

Review 28:Friendly staff and a nice room with all I needed in it - very warm too.

Review 29:Warm bathroom, excellent shower, comfortable bed, plenty of drawer space, excellent views over the promenade and sea. The pub was a few doors down from the Guest House where we were staying and served an excellent breakfast and dinner.

Review 30:A great location facing the beach, and a wonderful first impression with all the flower tubs and hanging baskets. I stayed there as an overnight stop before catching a ferry from Dover.

Review 31:The Landlord was exceptionally friendly and helped us find a car parking space. The room was lovely and we woke up to a sea view with sun streaming though the windows. The bed was comfortable and the staff were super friendly. Breakfast was delicious.

Review 32:we stayed in room 1 on a Saturday and the music was so loud in the pub until 2am that we couldn't sleep. This is just isn't acceptable for a b&b! There was no warning and the pub is advertised to shut at midnight.

Review 33:Friendly team, good view & comfortable room.

Review 34:We would have liked a larger piece of soap and also we would have liked breakfast included in the price of the room, also it would have been nice to have had a nice view.

Review 35:Very friendly pleasant staff

Review 36:Booked hotel because we thought we could have a meal. Went to restaurant just after 7 and were told they were fully booked. When we asked if we could book for later we were told that they had no idea when there would be a table. We got the impression that they just wanted us to get lost. We went elsewhere and waited an hour for our starter and gave up. We wandered round the town looking for a place to eat but with no luck. We had spotted a fish and chip shop so we went back to get a bag of chips. It was closed at 9pm! We went to bed hungry. If the management had warned us that the town shut down so early and that the restaurant was fully booked, we could have made other arrangements.we

Review 37:Bathroom New location good

Review 38:Booked the last room available which had a private bathroom next door to our room. The hotel kindly offered us a free breakfast in return for booking the only room with no ensuite which was a lovely gesture.

Review 39:Excellent stay comfortable, lovely staff, ideal location.Watch out if you are tall top rooms have low ceilings, parking bit inconvenient but free parking within 10 mins walk.

Review 40:Nice quiet room (with a sea view!), lovely setting and very pretty with lots of flower baskets etc outside. Didn't manage to have an evening meal there as all tables were full, but breakfast very good. Staff all very friendly and helpful

Review 41:I didn't mind at all but on the Saturday night they did have a band on and a full pub till around 2am ish and this did prevent my partner from sleeping

Review 42:Beautiful pub right on the seafront, very friendly and helpful staff!! Very lively in the evenings

Review 43:The room needed a proper clean. There wee quite a few substantial cobwebs and it amazed me that the cleaner had not noticed and dealt with them. It tarnished an otherwise most promising venue for my frequent stay overs in Rye.

Review 44:Nice bar and restaurant area and a friendly welcome. Room very pleasing on first sight. Good evening meal which was perfectly good value.

Review 45:The landlady was charming and genuine. Her and her husband are knowledgeable locals and run a nicely organised pub. Fantastic location on the sea front.

Review 46:Room was on ground floor and a little bit noisy suggest upper floor would be better. But apart from that was fine.

Review 47:Location great, staff friendly - smiley

Review 48:It can be a little noisy so secondary glazing would be good. But if you won't this location it goes with the territory! You won't piece & quiet go into the country!!

Review 49:Fantastic location, friendly, clean & modern rooms with all that you need for the price. & we were told our room was due to be re fitted ( the last room to be done )

Review 50:Noise from live music right outside my window until very late at night. Someone in room above up at 5am walking around on floorboards constantly with TV on quite loudly. Difficulty finding car parking nearby loading/unloading luggage.

Review 51:Sea views. Bed comfort.

Review 52:The stairs. The window box and bunting blocking the sea view. Looks like it needs rewiring.

Review 53:Situation, comfortable bed, spacious room and bathroom. All the staff were friendly, approachable and efficient.

Review 54:Not really a bad experience on our behalf. Wi Fi went down, BT was at fault, nothing anyone could do.. Not your fault Graham.

Review 55:All staff so friendly and helpful. Perfect nights sleep. Food very good.

Review 56:Shower gel sachets are rather old fashioned and annoying (but I got a nice bottle when mentioning it... ;))

Review 57:Friendliness and helpfulness of everyone behind the bar Location and size of room (I staid in 1 and 5 in the main house)

Review 58:Only slight down side was poor wifi reception on the top floor where my room was.

Review 59:Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Big comfortable room with view of the sea.

Review 60:Rooms 1-4 are above the bar area and there is a live band on Saturday night until 11pm.

Review 61:Large room with all facilities. Beds excellent. Good breakfasts

Review 62:I expected noise in a room above a busy pub but went on well past midnight so definitely not for young families, ask for a room in the annexe

Review 63:Lovely view and large triple room. Staff very good

Review 64:No bad experiences; car parking a minor inconvenience and it would have been nice to have had a couple of herbal teas on the tray.

Review 65:Location near the centre of Deal

Review 66:Room wasn't dirty but had things left in drawers from previous guests - just needed a bit more attention to detail is all.

Review 67:Friendly staff - loved the old 'boozer' style pub where the daytime food and drink were good value. Didn't take up the breakfast option but no reason for that other than timing.

Review 68:People in the room next door woke me up coming and going but that can't really be helped in a small guesthouse. Also, never enough of those little milks. One cuppa and they're gone! Small niggles. Wouldn't stop me returning.

Review 69:The people that run The Kings Head are really lovely and went out of their way to be kind to my dog with sausages and cuddles. The food in the pub was very good. Perfect location - I will definitely go back in the summer. I would recommend it.

Review 70:Very friendly welcome. Asked for a newspaper at breakfast and host went out to shop just to buy me one! That's what I call service. Fantastic poached eggs and comfortable surroundings.

Review 71:Its not a good place to stay on a Saturday night when there live bands performing right under your room until 1am and then there was a karaoke until around 3am so didnt sleep very well. And for £75.00 for the room that's just a no value Rip-Off! Staff weren't very good at pointing out all the entrances and exits including any night entrances.

Review 72:The room was nice and large with plenty of space to move around, a very comfortable double bed and an extra bed to put my bags on. This was my first stay at this accommodation so was glad to have a good room.

Review 73:Called to cancel a single room (We booked 5 rooms in all)expecting to pay as it was 24 hours before but wanting to make the room available and was told after the person went to check that there would be no charge. I was then charged for this room therefore communication could have been better on their part.

Review 74:Family funeral they hosted went very well. Good breakfast and great coffee.

Review 75:I left a lovely blouse hanging in the wardrobe, and I rang up the hotel as soon as we were home. The blouse was unfortunately never found, it is a mystery to me as to how it can have been lost, leading me to assume that it must have been possibly taken.

Review 76:Generally the hotel was excellent but was spoiled by the loss of a lovely blouse.

Review 77:A very welcoming welcome, clean room and an abundance of lovely white towels, excellent breakfast together with a team of friendly staff and sea view - and value for money..... we look forward to returning!

Review 78:Bar was very noisy till late at night - make sure you take earplugs No on site parking available No wifi in the bedroom only in the bar Room was comfortable but basic and would be a little cramped for two people Nowhere to sit except in the bar Service in the bar was slow and staff seemed bored and unfriendly

Review 79:Breakfast was excellent Room very clean Nice hot shower

Review 80:In the main the room and bathroom were adequately clean, however attention needs to be paid to the smaller details - cleaning the corridors, dusting behind bedside cabinets and cleaning shower controls. We had a nice time and sheets and bath towels were clean but we felt the room was overpriced for what was on offer. Perhaps £15 cheaper would have been about right.

Review 81:Location, staff polite and attentive. When a cleanliness issue was brought to the Proprietor's attention he was very apologetic and said that it would be dealt with which it was. Pub area was very cosy and evening meal very good, as was breakfast.

Review 82:The location of the room meant that we couldnt have the blinds open as people walked past the window. The comings and goings of people in the next rooms using squeeky doors that needed oiling was annoying I didnt think the total outlay for breakfast and the room was worth it.

Review 83:The location of the hotel was excellent. the staff were very helpful. The breakfast was tasty and well presented.

Review 84:Know this is a pub so expect some noise however loud talking and music into the ealy hours so not a lot of sleep. when booking was told ensuite but facilities on shared landing out side the room

Review 85:Happy staff

Review 86:I had problems with the WiFi, but i usually write with a feather, so it was probably my technical incompetence...

Review 87:Friendly attentive staff, wide selection of food, & beers. Lovely building, & very pubby decor, in a good way. Nice locals to chat to too. The room was top B&B standard, I had a damn fine time.

Review 88:Friendly staff great value and location

Review 89:The mattress

Review 90:The shower! The breakfast!

Review 91:Superb location, delightful friendly owners and staff. Breakfast was fresh and delicious and the pub is super cosy. Will go back for sure.

Review 92:no wi fi password displayed in the hotel side of business.

Review 97:Had fun with friends and we all stayed in the same hotel

Review 98:Pricey for what you get. No parking. Breakfast not included. Very basic rooms.

Review 99:Friendly staff and excellent atmosphere. Very clean rooms.

Review 100:Parking on road or in public car park

Review 101:Location, price

Review 102:Location was great for me as I arrived by train

Review 103:rowdy locals on a saturday night out! lack of parking facility - only parking on metered road side

Review 104:excellent customer service & food
