Reviews for Sunnycroft
Review 1:Being charged to use a debit card.
Review 2:Very friendly welcome and helpful information about what was available. Dressing gowns were provided - bathroom was across the landing. Gluten free breakfast provided. Easy to find and ample parking.
Review 3:The people who owned the bed and breakfast made us feel really welcome. The room was cleaned daily with tea/coffee/water/biscuits topped up daily.
Review 4:Absolutely nothing!
Review 5:The welcome was extremely friendly. Karen even carried our bags up to our room and offered to make us a hot drink, even though there were tea and coffee making facilities in our room. She then brought an iron and ironing board up after I said that the shirt my husband wanted to wear that evening was creased up in the bag. Karen also took the time to explain the way into town and where to find good places to eat. Our room (number 2) was lovely. It was extremely spacious and had a comfortable sofa, so that we could sit and relax, as well as a really comfortable double bed. The en-suite bathroom was very large, with a bath and a separate shower cubicle. The two cosy, fluffy bathrobes provided were an added bonus! Breakfast was cooked to order and followed cereals that we chose from a large selection of quality brands. My husband was impressed at the individual cafetiere of coffee he received. We didn't want to leave this B&B and will definitely return. We look forward to seeing Karen and Phil again!
Review 6:The B&B itself is absolutely lovely. The couple who run it are just the nicest people and we felt very well looked after! My friend has certain dietary requirements and the B&B owners went out of their way to accommodate her needs. The room we stayed in was absolutely lovely - so much so that we were half tempted to stay in it instead of going off to see the friends we were visiting! They gave us a key so that we could stay out as late as we liked and in the morning we had an absolutely lovely breakfast. I can't speak highly enough of this absolutely lovely B&B :) Thank you so much, Kat X
Review 7:Whilst everywhere was very clean and tidy the house overall still needs a lot of love (i.e breakfast room and hall). However, this in no way spoilt our stay.
Review 8:Lovely people running this B&B. Made us fill quite at home! Excellent breakfast and great facilities. Thank you!
Review 9:The bed was too soft for our personal taste, although we slept well.
Review 10:We were impressed by the warm welcome from the owners. The off street parking was very welcome. The breakfast was excellent.
Review 11:Everything was excellent
Review 12:Friendlybut unobtrusive owners who took great care of the property. Thus attitude was reflected throughout the services and amenities provided.this made fir a relaxing, comfortable stay
Review 13:We were going to a wedding so we needed a long mirror, but there wasn't one. Difficult to see in the dressing table mirror to put make-up on as it was too low. Loose shelf above wash basin meant stuff kept falling off. We could not lock the bedroom door, nor could the landlady, so we had to go out leaving the room unlocked.
Review 14:Good breakfast.No traffic noise.
Review 15:Initial impression of outside affected by scaffolding and work in progress.
Review 16:Good size bathroom with plenty of amenities, excellent shower. Comfortable bedroom. Friendly and helpful welcome.
Review 17:The only thing I found strange was being asked to pay the balance on arrival and being charged a fee for using a debit or credit card. Neither of these things have ever happened before in any hotel, guest house or holiday cottage I have stayed in and it made me feel uneasy at the start. Some shampoo, would have been useful. It would have been nice to have some sachets of herbal teas in the bedroom. Having to bend sideways to avoid sloping roof when getting in and out of bed!
Review 18:The bedroom and bathroom was spotless and the bathroom roomy. Willingness to modify standard English breakfast to meet individual preferences.
Review 19:Very friendly couple hosting the B & B carried our bag upstairs, and offered to bring tea or coffee up to us, as well as the hot drink facilities in our room.
Review 20:I thought being on a main road there would be an adequate bus service but it was only hourly and as the property was some distance from town this was a minor nuisance. (local taxi firms did well from me!)
Review 21:Phil and Karen were very keen to make sure the stay was pleasant. The room was spacious, clean and tea coffee etc were well provided for. Breakfast was well- cooked and presented.
Review 22:On arrival, a warm welcome by Karen with offer of hot/cold drink....really nice touch. Warm welcome by Phil in the morning, followed by a great breakfast. The bedroom and beds were really comfortable, with everything you needed, plus sofa and plenty of power sockets to ensure our devices could use the free wifi. Biscuits replenished and room tidied beautifully. Floorboards are screwed down properly, so you can move around without disturbing others....quite rare in an older property. This helped as we had the room with the bathroom across the hall, which wasn't an issue at all and gave us the chance to wear the luxurious robes.
Review 23:Attention to detail in the room, even down to dressing gowns supplied and at breakfast with leading brand condiments, nice friendly owners, made to feel most welcome. Note there are some stairs to the rooms, these were not a problem for us.
Review 24:I liked everything about Sunnycroft. The only problem was the stairs. Other than that it was perfect.
Review 25:Everything. Philip and Karen could ,t have been nicer.
Review 26:Lovely room, fantastic breakfast. We loved this guest house, unpretentious and very friendly, Everything you could wish for, very comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay again.
Review 27:Traffic noise from adjacent main road prevented us sleeping well
Review 28:Very welcoming owners Excellent location for Deal & Walmer Comfortable bed Superb breakfast
Review 29:All rooms are on the top floor, 3rd floor and I wouldn't recommend this to elderly people, or anyone who struggles with stairs.
Review 30:Owners of the B&B are very attentive and informative about the facilities and area. Nice homely feel to the property.
Review 31:We would not have booked if had realised the the room is in the attic up 3 steep flights of stairs
Review 32:The bottom line is we had a reasonable night and a good breakfast
Review 33:If to mention at least one thing, everything comes with a price: The very good connection comes with the fact, that the B&B is located directly at the main road to Deal, so it was a bit noisier.
Review 34:Great room with everything we could think of. The cooked breakfast was excellent. But first and foremost to mention is how warm, hospitable and welcoming Karen and Phil are. We really felt "at home". The location of the B&B is to be recommended, as it takes only a short walk to Walmer Castle and the beach and only a few minutes drive into Deal.
Review 35:A warm welcome and a very much needed cup of tea brought up to us upon arrival. The room was clean, comfortable with a lovely view over Deal. Phil and Karen made sure our short stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as it could be, putting up a free cot bed and cooking our preferences for breakfast. We would recommend to anyone.
Review 36:No bad experiences here. Many thanks again for all your help.
Review 37:There was nothing we could fault about this b@B. First class couple whocould simply not do enough for a couple who arrived unwell. We woulddefinitely return if we are ever in England again.
Review 38:A long-ish walk (30 mins) to reach restaurants in Deal as there is little nearby but the walk is pleasant enough.
Review 39:Large room with a large ensuite bathroom. Good breakfast, friendly hosts, close to Walmer Castle and Gardens. Off-Street (just)parking.
Review 40:Hosts Phil and Karen couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful (carried our bags to our room!) and were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent and the whole place was spotless and bed was one of those ones you just don't want to get out of. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in visiting Deal or the surrounding area.
Review 41:Friendly welcome and a cup of tea to greet me. Useful information from the hosts. Room was fine with everything you need and despite location on a busy road, with the window closed, no traffic was to be heard and I got a great night's sleep.
Review 42:The shelf above the sink was loose, but this wasn't a major problem.
Review 43:My hosts were very friendly and helpful. Both bedroom and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and warm. I would recommend this B & B to anyone staying in Walmer or Deal. I could tell from talking to other guests that they felt the same.Well done Karen and Phil!
Review 44:Bit dodgy pulling out from car park at front of house onto main road but every thing else about this B&B is excellent.
Review 45:My daughters got aultistic spectrum she was catered for in all aspects even her fussy eating at Breackfast. Highly recommend this B&B. Hosts go out there way to make you feel welcome & nice little touches in your room dressing gowns lots of towels, shower gel , tea coffee, orange juice bottles of water all for £65 a night. Home from home... Beats premiaire inn all round Lenny
Review 46:A lovely welcome, beautiful home with excellent ensuite bedroom. Breakfast was plentiful and top class. On our last morning even though we were leaving very early we were given a light hot breakfast. All round it was like home from home, which contributed to a lovely holiday.
Review 47:Having to pay an extra GBP 10 for arriving after 8pm. Bathroom across the hall.
Review 48:Room was comfortable, breakfast excellent and host very helpful and attentive
Review 49:The noise from the room below kept me awake and didn't end until just before midnight. Karen said it was her son and she has told him off several times for making too much noise.
Review 50:I was running a marathon the following day and requested breakfast at 6.00am. Much to my delight Karen agreed. Karen was also very helpful in pointing me in the right direction for the start of the race.
Review 51:Had to pay £10 to check out late but this wasn't a problem and we were warned in advance.
Review 52:A short walk from Walmer station. Very accommodating owners with lovely spacious room and bathroom. The breakfast was very tasty and the place was only 20 mins away from Deal center. Also good wifi reception even on the third floor and easy access with no curfew which came in handy when we went out for an evening meal.
Review 53:A little bit pushy about being paid on arrival. Made us feel a bit uncomfortable. Not first time we've experienced this with small B&Bs. Do many people do a runner?
Review 54:Spacious room. Spotlessly clean. Lovely separate but private bathroom
Review 55:Leaving on Monday morning.
Review 56:We were welcomed on a cold and windy evening to this lovely house by Karen & Phil who also brought us a cup of tea to enjoy while we unpacked. Breakfasts were something to look forward to - fresh local food, beautifully cooked. The location was perfect for the town and the beach. The lovely big dressing gowns were a welcome surprise(things you don't pack). We look forward to returning.
Review 57:The bedroom with additional heater was fine but bathroom was a bit chilly.
Review 58:Nice large room with huge bathroom, lovely shower, soft towels, everything we wanted.
Review 59:A little far from the centre of Deal.
Review 60:Scrupulously clean, very friendly and an excellent cooked breakfast which kept me going all day. The proprietors really do go all out to provide a very pleasant stay. Recommend.
Review 61:Not having en-suite bathroom, shower luke-warm, mirror in bathroom far too high for someone of 5'2"!!
Review 62:Lovely warm house, warm welcome from hosts, excellent breakfast
Review 63:Comfy stay, lovely large room and bathroom(room2) really appreciated "little extras" eg.bottled water, sweeties and cosy bath robes. Hosts very welcoming and breakfast was delicious.
Review 64:Our room did not have an ensuite bathroom but it was only across the corridor and was private to us so it wasn't a problem otherwise everything was good.
Review 65:Very friendly and welcoming owners. great cooked breakfast. very comfotable bedroom.
Review 66:What's not to like?
Review 67:Excellent cooked breakfast which kept me going all day, clean good-sized bedroom and bathroom. Easy to find, ample parking. Downside of being on the main road is the inevitable traffic, but I slept well with the help of earplugs.
Review 68:Very nice and cozy place. The breakfast was great and the bed was super comfortable. Karen and Phil are lovely hosts, showing real interest in their guests, and always good for a laugh. Would definitely stay there again any time.
Review 69:Friendly welcome. Karen carried my bags upstairs and made me a cup of tea while I settled in. At all times she and Phil addressed me by name, making me feel individual.
Review 70:Phil and Karen are very friendly and helpful. You are welcomed with a pot of tea, very nice. They offer recommendations on where to eat, gave directions and were very helpful. Fabulous breakfast each day.
Review 71:My back didn't like the bed ... but I am a very bad sleeper at the best of times !
Review 72:Almost everything - the welcome, the room, the excellent (and large) en-suite, the location and the breakfast !
Review 73:The only downside was the proximity to the main road so there was some traffic noise; but no more than we are used to at home.
Review 74:The house is beautiful and interesting and our hosts were very friendly and helpful. We needed a very early breakfast and they obliged without a murmur. The location was excellent for our purposes (stopping over on long journey and taking early ferry from Dover); Deal is a great little town with good places to eat.
Review 75:That we only stayed 2 nights ;-)
Review 76:Everything :-) . The rooms were great and the bathrooms very spacious. The beds were more than comfortable. Even though it is so close to the street you hardly heard the traffic. Breakfast was awesome after a early walk along the close beach.
Review 77:nothing negativ
Review 78:Kindness of the owners ; excellent wi-fi ; easy parking before the house . We had the room with the private bathroom outside the room but with the bathgown it was o.k. Easy to reach Canterbury.
Review 79:clean sizeable rooms lots of little personal touches-water,sweets, biscuits, coffee making facilities. Spotless bathrooms, fluffy towels. Good breakfast Helpful couple Very professional and terrific value
Review 80:Very friendly, kind and helpful hosts. Spacious room and bathroom. Our private bathroom was at the opposite side of the corridor just a few steps away. Should you find this is a problem, two decent dressing-gowns are present in the room. No noise of your partner using the bathroom! Next time again!
Review 81:Our room was a little tired , it could be improved with a bedding/decoration update and the provision of a flat screen tv to replace the cathode ray tv.
Review 82:Welcoming hosts, fair price , excellent bathroom towels. Due to the late booking we took a twin room with a separate, exclusive bathroom. This would not have been our normal choice , having said that the bathroom was clean and tidy and just across the corridor from our room.
Review 83:We enjoyed our stay, room very comfortable and clean and there was a lovely breakfast every morning. Karen and Phil lovely people and very helpful and friendly. Would recommend and will stay there again.
Review 84:nothing.
Review 85:The friendly greeting after a long drive. The parking area. Our room on the top floor with everything provided, lovely comfortable bed, and excellent bathroom. A well presented cooked breakfast. They clearly aim for, and achieve, a very high standard.
Review 86:The room was facing the very busy main road which was slightly disturbing, especially early in the morning.
Review 87:The room was very clean with a newly renovated bathroom. Great breakfast and the host and hostess were very friendly and eager to help in every possible way.
Review 88:The policy says they accept credit cards, but the don't. The owner informed me immediately after I booked, but it would be fair to update informations on the website.
Review 89:Clean room. Excellent breakfast.
Review 90:Very friendly welcome, lovely room and handy location but most of all my sister and I are particularly grateful to Karen for getting up extra early to make us breakfast on the day of our departure. (We had to leave at 0700 and Karen had breakfast ready for us at 0640 which we felt was above and beyond the call of duty)!
Review 91:Only a 'good' for the facilities as I couldn't see in the bathroom mirror - being 5'2" tall!
Review 92:Spacious and light room with excellent ensuite. Good breakfast. Karen and Phil were extremely welcoming and very helpful.
Review 93:Very welcoming couple who attended to all our needs. Perfect location for a short drive to Canterbury and just a short walk to the nearest beach :) would definitely recommend it.
Review 94:The road was a bit noisy at night with the traffic from the Dover Rd. but we needed the windows open as it was a very warm evening and was quite hot in the room. I suppose we should have asked for a fan instead.
Review 95:I came to Deal for a sailing regatta. Sunnycroft is only 5 minutes from the beach and sailing club and was ideally located for my daughter (10yrs) and I. The owners were very hospitable and the breakfast excellent. Lovely, huge bathroom with a tub and shower!
Review 96:The fact that we couldn't stay longer.
Review 97:Confirmation of booking had a friendly approach as did the welcome on arrival. Light, Bright, Spacious en-suite room ( No. 2 ) in spotless condition. Breakfast described as 'Full English' - well it was fuller than full and delicious.

Review 102:Very handily placed to visit Walmer and Deal castles on foot. Dover castle was also in easy driving range. A friendly and helpful place to stay

Very comfortable room with big bathroom (a little bit noisy from the street, but ok with closed windows), well decorated, tidy, huge bed, private parking, place to leave bikes, nice everyday's gifts, great breakfasts ;), but what's the most important - home atmosphere and very friendly people there! Thank You Karen & Phil! :)
Review 104:All we can think of is the room could do with a full length mirror, but that is being picking.
Review 105:The friendly reception and attention at all times, the nice big, light room with a spacious bathroom and the breakfast. Excellent.
Review 106:The duvets were too thick for the summer weather.
