Reviews for The White House B&B

Review 1:Shower room style bathroom, slight musty odor. Optional breakfast a bit pricey (we did not opt for the breakfast).

Review 2:Great location outside Wells. Lovely property. Renovated to a high standard. Host's daughter folded bath towels in the shape of swans....nice touch.

Review 3:We had such a warm welcome from everyone, very good facilities (an extremely comfortable bed), lovely breakfasts and the shortest of drives to get into the centre of Wells, whilst being in a village. We unreservedly recommend the White House and hope to return ourselves!

Review 4:Great place to stay fir a couple of days in a small village just outside Wells. Spacious bedroom with separate living room. Very nicely decorated. Gracious owners. Offered us a welcome cup of tea in their home. Most important parking on site!

Review 5:No issues.

Review 6:The facility was excellent, spacious and very comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and helpful with guidance on local activities. A short walk into Wells via a good path across the fields. Parking on site.

Review 7:Although the accomodation is advertised as an apartment it does not have cooking facilities. Accomodation can be difficult to find as not clearly advertised, however we were aware of this prior to arrival and phoned for assistance which was immediately provided. Best to arrive in daylight hours.

Review 8:Host very helpful in meeting our accomodation needs. Facilities very clean and tastefully decorated. Easy walk into the village on an off road track through nearby paddock.

Review 9:Only thing I would have changed is that we stayed a little longer.

Review 10:We arrived worn out from our flight into London and a long drive through unknown roads only to arrive to the warm welcome from Mary at the White House B&B. She had a nice cup of tea and the most delicious banana bread ever. As for the room it was everything lovely. The bed was comfy, the room was spacious, and the shower was wonderful after our long day. We had homemade cookies along with everything to make a cup of tea including milk. Everything was so well thought out even down to homemade hand soap. As for location, it was away from the hustle and bustle and yet a pleasant walk to Wells and easy driving distance to Cheddar Gorge. We stayed in four places in the UK during our 11 day stay and the White House B&B was by far our favorite.

Review 11:We had a lovely experience. Terrific for our short stay.

Review 12:Mary was absolutely lovely and very supportive when we had an unexpected family issue back home. She went above and beyond to help us which was so much appreciated. The house is located in close proximity to Glastonbury and has a lovely pub nearby for dinner. The loft was beautifully decorated and terrific for our day trip to Glastonbury. The homemade cookies were delicious! Thank you so much Mary we are so grateful!

Review 13:- not really suitable for self-catering (there was only a kettle and mugs) - used it for 3 people, the 3rd person had to sleep on a sofa bed which was not comfortable, plus the room layout does not make it easy for 3 people to use (need to walk through one room to get to the bathroom, walk through bedroom to get to front door) - could do with a bigger sign out front, as it's not easy to find

Review 14:- very friendly hosts - beautiful gardens - attention to detail - spacious and modern

Review 15:From our arrival to our departure we have nothing but praise for this excellent property. Mary the proprietor greeted us on arrival with tea and fresh homemade cake which was delicious. She gave lots of info about the house and area and some recommendations for places to eat, which we used, and can recommend The George Inn at Croscombe. We stayed in the Barn, original beams, yet with nice modern touches. The accommodation was very clean, well furnished and very comfortable. The location is ideal for Wells and the surrounding area. The breakfast was very very good, lots of local ingredients, home made jams, all well cooked and served with a smile, the perfect start to the day! We have no hesitation in highly recommending The White House, you will not be disappointed. Thank you for a great stay Mary. Dean, Olga and Sofiya.

Review 16:We received a very warm welcome from the hosts. The upstairs flat - (we were were just expecting a room) was absolutely beautiful - spotlessly clean, comfortable and a wonderful place to relax in. Setting was so peaceful . Just wished we had booked to stay longer! Thank you for a lovely stay :)

Review 17:We had a lovely warm welcome from Mary and her family. The place we were staying in was even lovelier than the photos. I hadn't indicated on the form that I would need the sofa bed but Mary soon sorted that out. Nothing was too much trouble. Lots of hot water and a very comfortable bed and sofa bed. Couldn't have asked for more!

Review 18:Delightful host who made us very welcome and although we were only there for a very short time, we would love to return for a longer period. The house is in a pretty village, very easy to find, and the accommodation has more than adequate facilities for a B & B, with some very thoughtful touches; the home-made cake and cookies were delicious and although we didn't have an opportunity to sample breakfast, we were left in no doubt it would have been excellent. The location is perfect, being surrounded by pretty countryside and Wells, within walking distance, is a small but beautiful Cathedral city to explore. Our host's 12 year old daughter was quite delightful, and we wish this lovely family every success in their venture. We will be back!

Review 19:Breakfast was good but £15 a head was a bit steep. I doubt even a top hotel would charge that. We assumed that as it was a B&B breakfast would be included in the overall price but this was charged separately.

Review 20:Lovely location.

Review 21:Wells is a lovely city to explore and the White House is an excellent spot to stay for a relaxing and comfortable holiday or short break. Lovely touches on arrival - homemade cookies and tea with Mary the owner, her daughter Lucy and the very cute addition of Bob! We stayed in the Loft - clean and spacious with the addition of a separate room with a table, two chairs and a fridge and kettle. Tea/coffee and milk supplied daily.

Review 22:Immediately felt very welcome. We had a very comfortable and relaxed stay in a lovely location with a beautiful garden. We enjoyed being able to get into Wells by a short walk, scenic walk through the fields. Hannah says she is Bob's biggest fan

Review 23:Rather difficult to find the hotel. In spite of the fact, that it is situated very convenient on the main road, which goes through the village, and is one of the first buildings on the left hand site, if you move from Wells, it is difficult to find it, since the sign with the name of the hotel is very small and is not visible from the road.

Review 24:Location is great - 15 minutes walk to Wells, road in beautifully surroundings through green hills, picturesque views. We had nicely decorated room with small kitchen, containing fridge, kettle, tee, coffee and very tasty welcoming cookies). The breakfast (we had English breakfast), was the best of all breakfasts which we had in England. There was spacious parking place near the hotel. Special word we would like to say about our hostess-she is extremely nice. When we arrived (rather late) she offered us tea and homemade delicious cake with banana. She is so radiant and happy person and was so glad to see and help us as her guests, that it lightened our trip very much! It was a pity that we stayed only one night there.

Review 25:Difficult to find as the whole village has the same postcode and signs are not permitted on a listed property.

Review 26:The warm welcome, the comfortable apartment and close proximity to Wells city centre by car. Excellent breakfast with home cooking.

Review 27:Car parking was a little tight with three cars.

Review 28:Helpful and welcoming owner of the property. Lovely cookie on arrival. Comfy bed. Lovely 20 minute stroll over the fields into Wells.

Review 29:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 30:Very pleasant hosts, very welcoming. The loft is an excellent quality room, very quiet and the most comfortable bed ever!! I would have no problem recommending this B&B.

Review 31:The standard of accommodation in the Loft Room was first class. It provided a totally private experience combined with very friendly and helpful hosts. We will return again.

Review 32:Not a bad experience, but the White House was not signed making it a little hard to find.

Review 33:We had a wonderful brief stay at the White House. We received a very warm welcome, and were particularly impressed with the standard of accommodation. Though we did 'accommodation only' I am sure that the breakfast option would be faultless - this will be confirmed later in the year! We have booked for later in the year, and have no reservations in recommending The White House to friends. Good luck to Mary and her family with their new business.
