Reviews for Hótel Lækur
Review 1:Having stayed in hotels that facilitated well for your chance of seeing the Northern Lights they give you wake up calls no matter what the time is which increases your chances of seeing the northern lights. Unfortunately we did not get that at this hotel as their reception closes at 10.00pm so can only notify you of any activity prior to this time.
Review 2:A beautiful Location next to Ranga Hotel, with beautiful icelandic Horses. The hotel is very cosy however having stayed at Ranga the few days prior the facilities did not quite match up however the price for this hotel was a lot more competitive than Hotel Ranga. We had to catch our flight early the next day so they kindly made us breakfast boxes. The staff were friendly. Nice small family run business
Review 3:Absolutely incredible spot. Perfect for northern lights viewing. The food was absolutely delicious! Staff were so helpful and friendly and the hotel itself generally had such a lovely atmosphere! Ideally located for going to see the spots.
Review 4:Dinner was good, but pricey and there is no choice of dishes.
Review 5:Gorgeous views, secluded and quiet location. Very comfortable beds. Gracious and helpful staff.
Review 6:dinner on the expensive side... though i understand this is the case in all of Iceland!
Review 7:very nice welcome although we came late at night. also some good touristic advice :)
Review 8:small room
Review 9:Beautiful stay. Room had a television with some English channels, a nice shower, comfortable beds, and a desk. Rooms were very clean. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The lobby has a kettle that can be used by guests and a dining area. The hotel also has a hot tub.
Review 10:Perfect B&B with delicious dinner course, quiet environment surrounded by the farm. Excellent service and made you feel cozy and warm. Catch the northern light on our last nite and its stunning. It would be your first choice to stay if you looking for a cozy family run B&B with a beautiful country side scenery.
Review 11:Meal at night - one sitting, no choice, and vegetarians got the same without the meat !
Review 12:Location, location, location, the hot tub, clean modern rooms, just the feeling of waking up there and getting back there after a long day trekking
Review 13:The hotel is in a beautiful location. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the hotel has a hot tub, which we loved. The dinner we had there was among the best we had on our trip. The staff was so helpful, and even held dinner for us when we were running late. They also made arrangements for us to ride their horses, which was a blast. They couldn't have been more helpful!
Review 14:The stairs to our room from the outside were steep and would be a problem in wet weather. As it is in a rural area there were house flies in our room, when I asked for fly spray the staff member told me they did not have any.I therefore had to resort to using a rolled up magazine. The roof does slope in the bedroom and it is difficult to avoid bumping your head.
Review 15:This hotel is located in a fantastic setting with extensive views to the surrounding area. The room was well equipped and we liked the balcony. Breakfast was very good.
Review 16:Nothing.
Review 17:The 3 course dinner were good! Never expect the lamb fillet (as main course) to be so delicious. We did not regret having our dinner at the hotel. The terrace room was spacious and clean. We just loved the room. The ideal location of the hotel was a perfect place to view aurora but we were not blessed with clear sky.
Review 18:Drive to and from the hotel is rough. Breakfast and dinner are served but no food was available for lunch.
Review 19:Beautiful grounds! Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Horse ride was amazing. Food was fantastic. Hotel was very clean.
Review 20:There is nothing I didn't like
Review 21:The place is in the middle of the nature with a river nearby and the horses. The hotel is really well taken care of and we were able to see the northern lights still it was begining of September.
Review 22:The hotel is very far off Route 1 down a gravel road. It's a beautiful setting but we were very unsure of where we were going! There is a sign on the main road and one at the driveway, but we would have appreciated another one along the gravel road to boost our confidence that we were on the right route!
Review 23:The setting was gorgeous. Our two rooms (5 and 6) at the rear of the property had a wonderful view of Hekla. The staff was great, especially the adorable young woman at the desk (I wish I could remember her name!) She was beyond helpful with any questions we had. She was truly a delight! The rooms were great. The dinner was unbelievably delicious...an appetizer of local arctic char and salmon with an entree of lamb, potatoes and salad. We''re so glad we ate right there at the property! Hotel Laekur was our favorite stay in Iceland!
Review 24:Very accommodating staff - very pleasant surroundings, and location was a bit off the beaten path and very beautiful - and very open, with outstanding views. Staff very professional and friendly, and very helpful and knowledgeable regarding surroundings.
Review 25:Walls between rooms are a bit too thin..as rooms are small - you hear your neighbor easily..
Review 26:The hotel is a beautiful farm amidst nature with a great kitchen - dinner was excellent - although rooms are a bit small- our stay was very enjoyable
Review 27:Remote location down a 2 kilometer gravel road, 10 long miles from restaurant options. You eat what they serve or if you go into Hella, you can't drink any wine and find your way home again.
Review 28:The horses. It's a horse farm.
Review 29:Our room was upstairs at the roof: very small, standing up from the bed / moving to a bathroom you can easily hit your head (what I successfully did), bathroom was super small
Review 30:Location is nice (just road to the place is partially gravel, not pleasant for those without a 4WD car) for those who love tranquility and countryside, you can also rent a horse for an extra amount; breakfast is nice; lovely rest area on the 2nd floor
Review 31:A rural setting. Clean, modern rooms. Good breakfast buffet. Excellent set evening meal which was home cooked and changed each evening. Good location for exploring the Golden Circle and parts of the south coast.
Review 32:None!
Review 33:Beautiful and comfortable room, very clean and welcoming. Gorgeous view of Mount Hekla and other mountains. Lovely hot tub!! Friendly hosts. Good wifi and nice hot showers!
Review 34:The carpets in the entrance hall and corridors are dirty, creating an uninviting atmosphere
Review 35:Spacious clean room and bathroom, excellent dinner and breakfast, friendly staff
Review 36:Hot tub was a little unkempt, but the owner apologized profusely and gave us compensation for non-usage. To be fair, it was shoulder season and there were few guests.
Review 37:A lovely location out in the middle of nowhere - the mountains in full glory on the horizon. Great for hikes and wanderings. Lambs, horses, dogs... all the critters an animal-lover would want to see while traveling.
Review 38:Beautiful, out of the way location. We arrived late and the excellent staff made us dinner even though we did not expect them too. This made our night because we were starving and worried about finding food. The beds were comfortable. We even got to pet the baby sheep the next day.
Review 39:hmmm. nothing
Review 40:The hotel itself is very nice, felt like home. The staffs were so friendly. Oh! dinner was great! I had this lamb curry and it was amazing! love it! We went when it was still snow and cold but the bahtroom was so warm even the floor!
Review 41:Hotel offers an evening meal but thought this was slightly overpriced and decided not to have this.
Review 42:Very comfortable and warm. Great hot tub. Tasty breakfast. Free hot drinks on tap. Lovely secluded location but not difficult to find or get to even in the snow. Very friendly and a great place to stay for our first night in Iceland.
Review 43:The hotel is nicely designed, with a lovely lounge on the second floor where we spent our night there waiting for the northern light (no luck for us otherwise it should be a perfect spot with its remote location). We were lucky to be the only guests that night to have the hotel all ours. Owner is extremely nice and friendly, he gave us advice on the road condition and travel plan as there was a severe storm the next day which was a great help!
Review 44:We had an outside room and with a 10 month old baby it was hard work getting to the dining room and back in the blizzard conditions we had for part of our stay. One couple had a room with a door directly to the dining room. It would have been helpful if we could have been in that room. Also no kettle to warm bottles with. Thankfully the owner loaned us a thermos flask.
Review 45:The food was fantastic!! It was lovely spending a couple of quite hours in the communal lounge.
Review 46:We arrived at 7:30pm and the rooms do not have a kitchen. Only option is to have dinner in the guesthouse. Single menu and very expensive.
Review 47:The position is amazing. The location is very clean and comfortable.
Review 48:None
Review 49:Staff exceptionally friendly and welcoming, particularly Gunnar. Hot tub and 5* hotel quality meals, very modern and stylish lodgings, very relaxed atmosphere and comfortable stay, northern lights alarm.
Review 50:Can't think of anything bad to say.
Review 51:We had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Laekur and it was exactly as we had hoped after reading the reviews. We had breakfast and dinner there both nights and the food was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us advice on driving conditions when a strong storm came in. The room was clean and warm with good wifi.
Review 52:Friendly staff who are more than happy to help with any queries you have about room, location, trips etc. Lovely warm and cosy rooms. Great rural setting - perfect for Northern Lights!
Review 53:Nothing, if you dont mind being in the middle of nowhere with fantastic scenery this is the place for you.
Review 54:Staff were very friendly, gave guided tour on arrival and were shown to room which was on the outside of the building. This was an old farm and the barn has been converted to a hotel and rooms to an extremely high standard, it was gorgeous. Rooms were lovely with a massive bathroom and great shower. Breakfast was served in a lovely room and there is a lounge upstairs which we didnt use but wished we had as it was amazing. Wifi was free and good. Hot tub was lovely to sit in.
Review 55:A bit far off the beaten track. No selection at meals. Small rooms, not any storage for clothing or bags (and we travel with only an airline carry-on and a backpack each.
Review 56:Beautiful country and countryside. Quaint Scandinavian hotel. A minimal experience. Your 200 character minimum makes it difficult for me to give a review.
Review 57:Basic Breakfast Please get someone to look after the breakfast also at 9.30 when most guests have passed
Review 58:Nice and decently priced Location in the middle of nowhere Friendly Owner
Review 59:too short stay ;(
Review 60:Staff is very friendly, dinner was great and we recommend everyone to taste it, horseriding is good for beginners and more experienced - gave us a lot of fun, lava fields just across the river, hot tube available for guest.
Review 61:We stayed at Hotel Laekur for one night on our trip across Iceland. It was so beautiful and peaceful there, we wished we could have stayed longer. The rooms were spacious and clean with all the comforts of home. The kids loved the hot tub, even though it was cold and fiercely windy. Breakfast was delicious! The owners and staff were very informative and interesting to talk to.
Review 62:The access road to get to the hotel involved driving the last 5 km through an unpaved road. This may be fine with a larger vehicle, but we found it a bit nerve-wracking in our 2WD.
Review 63:The staff was extremely hospitable, very helpful and accommodating (last minute room change for us due to a snafu I made with my reservation) and provided very helpful tips for visiting nearby places. The facilities were excellent (clean rooms, comfy beds) and a nice breakfast platter.
Review 64:Breakfast was ok, not huge choice Breakfast room compared to the rest of the hotel felt a bit "cold"
Review 65:Very friendly and helpful staff Great location in beautiful landscape Nice relax and seating area for guests
