Reviews for Royal Orchid Metropole

Review 1:Dinner very slow. They forgot mine and I only wanted a kebab. Got it half an hour after husband had finished starter, main course etc. At 2000 rupees for his dinner and my starter two cocktails which had no suggestion of alcohol in them it seemed pretty pricey given the rather unexceptional nature of the food.

Review 2:Lovely room. Balcony and old world charm. Service very good. Great location. Loved Mysore though. Clean and beautiful city.

Review 3:We took advantage of the laundry service the hotel provided. Unfortunately, we signed off on the returned/cleaned laundry before checking with our kids to see if all of their clothing was properly returned. My daughter ended up losing her jeans and the hotel was unable to find them.

Review 4:The hotel is in a great Mysore location, close to the train station. The breakfast was very good. They front desk upgraded our room which was a pleasant surprise. Our rooms each had a nice outside porch area. The outside dining was wonderful in the evening. Never able to visit the lounge/bar area. No alcohol In Mysore for two days due to local elections.

Review 5:* The restaurant service staff was very lethargic. * We were visiting with our nephew who had travelled to India to celebrate his Birthday and we took him to Metropole. For the dinner, the restaurant manager plainly refused to provide us a seat without "reservation". We never knew that even the paying hotel guests needed to reserve(?). After much request and escalating to the front desk, we got a place to seat. * However the service was very pathetic and lousy. The kids were bored/tired/ sleepy after the appetizer itself. We had to ask 5 times or more to inform that we were ready to offer. * Mr. Kumar N in restaurant provided great service later when we really got annoyed.

Review 6:Mostly everything was good apart from Restaurant.

Review 7:the service was pretty poor, very slow and the managers always looked grumpy. Nothing organised on Christmas day and very average food.

Review 8:The wait staff are very friendly and the rooms comfortable.

Review 9:Cleaniliness of the bathrooms no way upto the mark. Not provided with a room suitable for a couple initially. But corrective actions were taken the next day.

Review 10:Look and feel of the hotel is nice.

Review 11:Need to be more flexible With guests genuine request regarding meals. It took front desk staff quite some time to understand the need and do something about it.

Review 12:Manager upgraded us to Maharaja Suit

Review 13:Wi-fi was expensive whereas the whole world has made wi-fi free. Food is just ok and definitely not value for money.

Review 14:I was upgraded to heritage room. Really appreciate the gesture. Overall happy about the experience of staying at royal orchid.

Review 15:No WIFI that worked. It was very tricky that the hotel did not have a high chair or baby cot we could use to the extent we ended up having to go out and buy one at some expense when we would rather have been enjoying our holiday.

Review 16:The staff were very helpful and the food was delicious

Review 17:The internet didn't work all and the double check of the Frigobar was such a lack of respect with the client as it was done for several time by different personal of the hotel.

Review 18:The old building and the garden.

Review 19:Had to change rooms because the air conditioner did not work properly; the safe did not work. The new room was the best room in the property, but it had no Internet; I had to do all my Internet work in the hotel lobby. The shower flowed like a trickle and hot water lasted only 10 minutes, every day. The staff ignored my requests to fix the Internet.

Review 20:Architecture, old-world ambience of the facility. The food was pretty good. The price was right.

Review 23:continental menu had limited variety and breakfast had mostly indian foods!

Review 24:Hotel building is very nice,it is a heritage building. We stayed in a deluxe room it was huge and comfortable with a lovely decoration and huge terrace.

Review 25:Shower was a BIG disappointment. There was no pressure, tub clogged and getting in and out of the tub was a circus with only a rickety stool as a step. This aspect needs some serious improvement.

Review 26:Location, staff, heritage hotel, lovely property with spacious rooms

Review 27:Service at the restaurant is slow. We sat down for a while, no one came to wait the table.

Review 28:Greetings with a cold towel and drink are nice! Rooms are spacious! Reception staff are friendly!

Review 29:The bathroom was old and not so comfortable I in the other hotels were I was in my stay. The room was small.

Review 30:I liked very much the breakfast and the nice restaurant inside ot the hotel in a nice garden. Very nice was the staff of the restaurant.

Review 31:Majority of the staff were not particularly helpful (except doorman) and service was very slow when waiting for drinks and food. Bathroom did not look like it had been cleaned on arrival.

Review 32:Good food and good location.

Review 33:They didn't had one of the rooms I had booked (through booking.com), when I arrived. The rooms offered where not nice, and the bathrooms really small and uncomfortable.

Review 34:heritage hotel. The food was nice, and the atmosphere in the restaurant at night.

Review 35:Paid wifi didn't function Bathroom water intermittent. Static bike and cross trainer in tiny gym didn't work. Weight station pulley system didn't work. Food average.

Review 36:Staff mostly pleasant

Review 37:I felt that Wi-Fi should have been included in the cost of the room. We stayed in far cheaper accommodation during our time in India and this was the only place that had internet as an added extra.

Review 38:The staff really make this hotel. They were always keen to help and very friendly. The food in the restaurant was outstanding and dining in the courtyard in the evening was very enjoyable. The hotel is in a great location and it is the perfect place to relax after a hectic day sightseeing in Mysore.

Review 39:We were a group of 6 females traveling around Karnataka. This hotel was our absolute favourite. Fantastic rooms, staff, service and food. Cannot fault this hotel at all. Nothing was ever a problem. Cannot recommend enough to singles, couples, families or groups.

Review 40:The room is nice, but if I have one complaint, it is that the bathroom could have been nicer. It has a tub with a shower overhead, but the hot water runs out quickly. It is a small thing and I really enjoyed the rest of my experience.

Review 41:The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. The location is close to the main attractions (palace, zoo, etc), but it is not so close that the hotel is noisy. In fact, the room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant is also quite nice - we had dinner and breakfast at the main restaurant.

Review 42:Nothing

Review 43:Room was very spacious and clean, we got a free upgrade to a deluxe suite which was fantastic. Food and service were superb. The outside restaurant was really nice.

Review 93:Ambience, antiquity, and service

Review 94:The coffee was bad n food was jus okay..

Review 95:The ambience was beautiful n serene..

Review 96:Heritage

Review 97:Mini bar prices

Review 98:Nice location friendly staff

Review 99:Check-in staff was not welcoming. Didn't seem like he liked his job. When I checked out it was the same guy - Mr no personality. Also I had asked for a wake up call and didn't get it. When I said something his response was it was the night staff's fault.

Review 100:Dinner was very good. Room was clean. Had a great balcony.

Review 101:Steep price

Review 102:Historic building, airy, open, lovingly preserved, excellent service. Charming ambience, large room with verandah - very inviting and relaxing. AC worked well in peak summer heat.

Review 103:Everything! Probably the best hotel we've ever stayed in. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous and the hotel itself was beautiful.

Review 104:The bed was a bit small in size and the mattress sagged in the middle so night was a bit uncomfortable. The toilet window glass was broken so people from next block first floor could look in. Minor issues but other wise a superb city hotel with old world charm.

Review 105:The room was clean and service was good. They upgraded me without asking which was nice. The food is fabulous.

Review 106:The pool cleaning needed a little bit more attention - a touch more chlorine was needed!

Review 107:We loved the Old Colonial feel to the hotel, the open courtyard to eat dinner under the stars by candle light. The helpful staff.

Review 108:Breakfast was only fair. The pool was tatty and the water hazy. Expensive internet.

Review 109:Old world charm. Excellent dinner menu, good cooking and presentation.

Review 110:Pool is small and was closed most of the time during our 2 nights stay (for repair on Saturday afternoon or cleaning on Sunday afternoon!)

Review 111:Lovely Heritage Hotel close to City Center and Palace but not too close so it is quiet!

Review 112:Surroundings were wonderful but swimmingpool area could have been a little better as for opening times and deck chairs.

Review 113:Beautiful rooms with balcony. Excellent restaurant and an ever smiling and most helpful staff.

Review 114:Charging for WiFi internet is unacceptable in a hotel of this standard. The pool closed at 5pm so we missed the chance to have a swim.

Review 115:This is a good quality hotel with good facilities in a fairly central location (20 minute walk to the palace). The food in the restaurant was excellent, and although expensive by Indian standards was well worth it.

Review 116:Internet is very expensive. Throughout our trip in India we had free wifi even in the most basic cafes and homestays. I think it is totally unacceptable to charge for what is a basic service these days, as basic as hot water and AC in this type of hotel.

Review 117:Pre flight night so a rest near international terminal. All excellent, lovely staff, complimentary airport shuttles and divine pool to swim in before leaving for the airport. Beautiful food, v pricey but worth the treat!

Review 118:Very nice and comfortable htl, with a pleasant old fashion atmosfhere. All staffs always smiling, very gentle and helpful. Food excellent.Great place.

Review 119:Love the style, the food, both dinner & breakfast, the dining room, the room and bed are very comfy. Love the pool but it is noisy by the road, but it doesn't matter really, maybe put a fountain in to mask the noise. I like the Metropole a lot and will stay again in the future. Thanks, Sarah

Review 120:This is a beautiful heritage hotel and we enjoyed every moment there. Weenjoyed probably the best meal we had in 3 weeks in India. Not thecheapest but the best! Staff were very attentive and professional.

Review 121:nice antique bathroom that could a bit modernized (running warm wate taxis ordered overpriced: 850 roupees instead of 450 when ordered from outside for the same ride

Review 122:good restaurant nice setting

Review 123:wifi connection not adequate, business centre basically not working

Review 124:impressive building and rooms with terraces, extremely kind and caring staff, excellent food, very good location close to city heart even if on big road. an incredibly enjoyable staying, great experience.

Review 125:Internet was fast and reliable, but it could be a bit cheaper. Also, hot water was running out after 8-10 minutes and if you take longer baths/showers, then this could be a small problem for you.

Review 126:The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was large and comfortable, the position of the hotel (close to the railway station) is great. Also, the food was very good and well prepared and cooked. It does not make you sick (at least worked for me). I have to mention that the reception staff were super nice and helped a lot (general questions, taxis, even booking the train ticket for me). Also Shyvana was a great guy (hope that I don't misspelled his name) - cheers mate!!! Hope to be back soon.

Review 127:Lovely old building and good restaurant, but the hotel is only successful because of these factors. Rooms need minor improvements (I stayed in delux). Service was bad, safe didnt work and no one tried to fix it. We booked a delux room and they told us they had given us a free upgrade...to a delux room. When i challeneged and said I had already booked a delux they disagreed...Delux was written on my Booking.com receipt.

Review 128:Tiger Trails restaurant is great. 12pm check out useful if you go for a tour in the morning. Nice colonial building.

Review 129:Small rooms. Fair to poor service - I was asked to go get my coffee myself when I asked for one! Swimming pool closes at 5:30 pm.

Review 130:Charming hotel with very original architecture. Friendly staff.

Review 131:We booked for 4 nights in royal orchid metropole and they softly forcedus to move for the first 2 nights to The royal orchid brindawan. Inspite wonderful but too isolated and for this reason almost empty ofguests: 25km from Mysore 50minutes to drive. Both Hotels are in thesame groupe.

Review 132:A very nice and good situated hotel in Mysore. Friendly and helpfulstaff and very very good an romantic outside restaurant. We enjoyed ourtoo short stay and hope to come again.

Review 133:The drains smell from my sink waste which despite several requests for a solution was ignored. Quite unpleasant. The service was extremely slow - it took 3 hours to accomplish a two course dinner on our second night having forgotten part of the order.Front desk staff were less than knowledgeable - not helpful and somewhat offhand.

Review 134:The Metropole is a restored maharaja's palace - attractive building but still plenty of work to do. My roomy was damp with peeling wallpaper.
