Reviews for YHA Beer
Review 1:Late check in, washing facilities in need of modernisation. Very small room, four beds were squished in.
Review 2:Lovely town, very pretty location. Good, clean self catering facilities and lounge area.
Review 3:Only just competitive after hike of dormitory night rate from £15 to £24 in 2 years. (£31 including breakfast)
Review 4:Good facilities and staff, heating and breakfast
Review 5:The cost, as I found a B&B for a little more cost which included and en suite, so not impressed by the cost. The heating was on full blast and made it uncomfortable to sleep.
Review 6:Location and the building.
Review 7:- not cheap for a family room (£80+ a night) - lack of parking spaces (we all had to triple park, which wasn't a problem in itself, but caused some anxiety driving back at the end of the day wondering if I would be able to park), few alternative parking spaces available in the village - terrifying hairpin bend in the narrow road leading up to the hostel (I would not stay here again for that alone!) - only 2 options for kids meals, pizza or pasta, - if they wanted the same as adults I had to pay full price - and no free wine beer or soft drink as in some hostels - so this was disappointing and we ended up eating out which I hadn't budgeted for - plasticky mattresses gave us night sweats (YHA please do something about these, they are horrible! Had this at YHA York too)
Review 8:- price was cheapest in the area, must be a pricey area to stay in - fantastic area, Beer is beautiful, Lyme Regis is 20 mins away and lovely - lovely arts and crafts house - self-catering kitchen, albeit small, which was really handy for making up packed lunches or cooking meals for yourself - Washing facilities are shared (some rooms are en suite) but spotless, and although the hostel was fully booked when we stayed you never had to wait for a shower or toilet.
Review 9:All water except in kitchen unsafe to drink. This made having a drink of water awkward. Breakfast was cold. Method of puting it in glass bowls before serving not good. Hot water, cereal, etc all running out and told there was no more. Bike shed inadequate. What was that huge box taking up the room? Damaged my bike trying to get in into/ out of the shed, due to number of other bikes.
Review 10:Wonderful location. Lovely room.
Review 11:we were in room one, very noisy. There was a big group of people staying - 4 families with kids and it felt as if they had taken over the place e.g. the dining room and the TV lounge AND they were really noisy saying goodbyes outside our bedroom too for ages.
Review 12:friendly, helpful, informative staff.
Review 13:I had to park my car down in the village to be sure of not being boxed in because I had to be away by 8:15 each day
Review 14:The cooked breakfast good food well cooked The bar in the evening although I only had soft drinks Friendliness of the staff The place was spotless the other guests were friendly
Review 15:no wifi but given the price it wasn't expected. i was unfortunate to share a dorm with a very loud snorer! a few lockers for luggage would be good (perhaps the sort that you can put your own padlock on too) to save having to take valuables with you to the shower or the beach.
Review 16:Friendly helpful staff. good breakfast clean and not run down like one or two youth hostels i've stayed at
Review 17:Some books in the lounge would be welcome.
Review 18:The person on reception was very welcoming and helpful. The location was terrific. It was also very quiet.

Review 40:Nice, clean place to stay. Family friendly
Review 41:Suggest to extend the reception operating hours to earlier in the afternoon.
Review 42:This was the second time we stayed at the hostel in the span of 11 months. That should explain why we chose YHA in Beer, again. The staff was helpful and resourceful. The best thing was we get to meet other people from around the globe who loves the adventure. The view from on top of the hill was great.
Review 43:The steep twisting drive up to the car park in the dark :P
Review 44:Had to phone last minute as arriving late due to car breakdown. Not a problem for Griff, the manager. He sorted us out no problem. The sleep 5 dorm we had booked was great. Clean and comfortable. The building itself was beautiful. Breakfast was a full English with cereal, toast, juice etc. for £4.99 a head- reasonable price to fill your boots first thing in the morning. It was very relaxed and friendly, and we enjoyed our first stay in an English Youth Hostel.
Review 45:Could have done with a seat in the bedroom (but not really the space) and some board games and local info books. Small insignificant notes.
Review 46:Room to ourselves. Room was only one occupied on our floor so had sole use of shower/loo. Very family orientated, although at 12 & 14 ours were the oldest and least hippiest! Location brilliant - 5min stroll into Beer village (pubs, shops, stony beach) and 2 miles over fields or along undercliff coast path to neighbouring Branscombe. Griff the hostel manager was relaxed and friendly
Review 47:Can't think of anything wrong
Review 48:Excellent value accommodation and food. Also self catering. Comfortable lounge, friendly staff and guests. Great garden and BBQ area. Only 6 in a dorm, private rooms also available
Review 49:drawn out checking in process. beds not made up. only 2 towels to hire in the whole place (3 of us stopping). Not good value for money. Breakfast poor.
Review 50:Second time visiting. It is just a lovely hostel. Great building and great garden for the kids to run around in. Really relaxing. Won't be the last time we stay there!
Review 51:Arrived late and staff were very accommodating. Same applied to the chef who made breakfast the following morning. Bargain at £4.99. Also puchased half-price YHA membership whilst there.
