Reviews for Colbourn Hotel
Review 1:The Hotel is ideally located just off the seafront and a short walk from the Town Centre. Mike and Leslie were very friendly and helpful and recommended places to eat etc., nothing was too much trouble. Room and ensuite spotless. Would love to stay here again.
Review 2:We love Mike and Leslie, so welcoming! The toad, a pub next door, was brilliant! You must try the lamb shoulder with mash! We went to zip world on the Sunday and the hotel was well placed for this! Thank you Mike and Leslie!
Review 3:Everything about this accommodation especially the hosts Michael and Leslie certainly make you feel very welcome and always willing to offer advice about the area and where to visit would stay here again if back in Colwyn Bay!
Review 4:Not a massive deal but separate bathroom from bedroom, although the owner did say they would be making it into the same room soon!
Review 5:Friendly welcome, lovely quiet room, comfortable bed, really good breakfast
Review 6:Nothing
Review 7:The hosts were extremely pleaseant. Nothing was too much trouble. From giving hints and directions to local attractions, to advice about the best places to eat. The food was excelent.
Review 8:Everything. Owners were both welcoming and hospitable. Our room was clean and beautifully decorated and we had a great breakfast. Would definitely recommend to others.
Review 9:No negatives what so ever
Review 10:Place was modern, comfortable and spotless. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming people, breakfasts were beautifully cooked. Overall a lovely place we wouldn't hesitate to visit again
Review 11:Minor grouse was shower - being on top floor probably doesn't help - it was difficult to get temperature right and then little more than a trickle. No bath so this would be annoying after more than one night. We are used to a power shower though.
Review 12:Made very welcome on arrival. Room was spotlessly clean, lovely decor and very comfortable bed. Plenty of tea and coffee, also biscuits. Breakfast was very good. Excellent value for money overall.
Review 13:The shower was really poor. No power and very little spray. Would strongly suggest changing them if they are like this in all the rooms.
Review 14:Very friendly welcome. Our host was chatty and always offering assistance if needed. Good hearty breakfast with vegetarian option if required which is always a good consideration that I approve of.
Review 15:There was very limited on street parking on Sunny Days.
Review 16:The owners were polite, friendly and always happy to help. The rooms were nice and we felt relaxed almost as soon as we settled in.
Review 17:Building work opposite Bed a little bit worn
Review 18:Beautiful modern clean facilities, very close to beach. Good location for nearby Snowdonia. Very friendly welcome. Adequate street parking
Review 19:The hosts went out of there way to be helpful could not wish for better. Room was ideal with a first class bathroom adjacent. Breakfast was perfect with a of choice of eggs.
Review 20:Nothing!
Review 21:Lovely couple running a lovely (and very efficient smooth) b and b in a fab location with a scrummy breakfast and a very comfy bed. Will definitely come again!
Review 22:I did not complain about these niggles because I was too busy and tired, so they may have been resolved. All in all, these really are minor issues, as the quality of decoration, furnishing and fittings was very good. Comfy couch too. So, other than having to rush out of the room (no flexibility on check-out times or breakfast) I would strongly recommend the Colbourn Hotel to friends and will stay there again...just maybe not on the 3rd floor. In more detail: Breakfast finishes an hour too early for me, with last orders at 9am. I would prefer 10am, certainly on weekends. 10am check-out is also far too early for my liking. 12pm would be much more reasonable. I had to pack the night before and was still struggling to get out on time. The shower in my room on 3rd floor was luke warm at best (I think a faulty valve caused it, as the sink tap was piping hot) -but that was probably repairable. It was also a very weak, slow flow rate, so it took a long time to actually do the business of showering (again probably due to the reduced gravity flow, since the tank was likely only a metre or two above the shower head). The TV was stuck in audio description mode and had no main audio channel, except for BBC1, but I wasn't there to watch TV really. I also banged my head on the low beams in the bedroom (my own fault - I was warned about them).
Review 23:Lovely room, period features but well appointed, and with modern en-suite, plus tasty biscuits come with the tea & coffee tray! Nice cooked breakfast, good choice of other menu options, great friendly service, well managed and efficient. The lovely couple who run the place are an asset. Location is very close to the promenade - 30 second walk! Helpful local knowledge from proprietor was a bonus. I hope they have continued success so I can visit again in future.
Review 24:Lovely owners and staff made myself and my young son feel really welcome. Very helpful carrying our bags upstairs when we arrived. Nice breakfast. Great location near the beach with lots of free parking close to the b n b.
Review 25:Friendliness and help of the owners, who made us both very welcome when we arrived, and helped me when my partner unexpectedly had to go on to a business trip leaving me on my own!
Review 26:Nothing really, enjoyed our stay entirely
Review 27:The staff were absolutely wonderful. They helped us find things to do during the day, recommended a lovely pub to eat at and even bought us flowers when we said it was our honeymoon.

Review 33:It's a shame had to go out of bedroom to use bathroom and a shame about the building work but overall very good.
Review 34:Staff very good and breakfast very yummy.
Review 35:We only booked for one night, but the owners could not do enough for us, the whole experience was so refreshing, it made us feel part of their family. 10/10
Review 36:The only thing we didn't like was the fact that across the road from the hotel there was building work going on and it spoilt a beautiful view. However, the builders did not make noise early or late in the day so we were not disturbed at all.
Review 37:Breakfast was lovely and gluten free as requested! Staff couldn't be any more helpful and they were very good at recommending places to go and things to see nearby. The hotel was clean and the room and bathroom looked newly refurbished.
Review 38:Offered vegetarian breakfast without being asked. Easy walking distance of the town centre and train station if required. Lovely facilities and room size. Owners willing to help with luggage and had locked room downstairs for storage instead of bringing everything upstairs, out of car, overnight.
Review 39:Easy to find B&B located quite near to the sea just outside the busy town center(s) with enough places nearby to grab a bite. The staff was friendly and the room just was perfect for us. A seperate bathroom was located a little outside the room but this was no problem. The breakfast was served with joy and was superb.

Review 60:Friendly hosts Comfort Cleanliness Location
Review 61:If I had to make one suggestion it would be to provide better showerhead as water strength not so good.

Review 67:The location is lovely right opposite the beach. The room was large and comfortable and the gentleman who took me to my room and served breakfast was welcoming and friendly without being over the top. I ate at the Toad pub next door in the evening and the food and service here was great. A great place to stay in Colwyn Bay, fully recommend it.

Review 71:The hotel was situated beautifully just off the main road along North Wales's shoreline, so waking up to some stunning sights helped me relax before work, the staff were exceptionally friendly and offered help throughout my short stay, even going as far as planning my trip and offering advice, stories and jokes about the area, all in all, they were awesome and the room was almost perfect (slightly noisy bed)
Review 72:Mike and Leslie were really friendly and welcoming. The location is great and less than a minute walk from the beautiful Colwyn bay beach. The room was cozy and very clean and modern.

Review 92:close to seafront and town centre large bedroom and bathroom very good breakfast very welcoming hosts clean and tidy rooms.
Review 93:It feels churlish to say anything but a water pump for the pressure on the shower upstairs would make this place without flaw.
Review 94:It was generally great, an enjoyable, private hotel experience.
Review 95:Being on top floor water pressure low so not much of a power shower but that's the laws of gravity!!!
Review 96:Great service and breakfast. Able to recommend a great place to eat to, which is always handy, especially since its 3 doors down. Very comfortable no complaints, would definitely recommend and also re book when visiting again
Review 97:Going home
Review 98:The location was fantastic The hotel was lovely Mike was very friendly and gave you a warm welcome and he was always happy to help in anyway possible Would highly recommend staying here
Review 99:The b&b was lovely and clean. We had a nice sized room from which we could see the sea. The owner, Mike was always available to help and to advise on local attractions and where to eat etc. The breakfast was lovely and the attention to detail (Eg a highchair being ready and being aware I was a vegetarian) was impressive.
Review 100:Location just one building from the sea. Lovely breakfast. The host was very helpful printing off information for me about local area. The area is close for sightseeing excursions but a quiet place to return at the end of the day.
Review 101:Breakfast on Saturday Sunday ends at 9 am check out at 10 am which is mean. They said you could ask for later but did not encourage conversation on matter. Breakfast was limited and had very poor sausages when there is good local produce in North Wales? With 25 years in the business and a high booking .com score. I don't know if they have to take this feedback on? But it is meant to help you out there make a choice for yr £70 a night

Review 108:We were greeted with open arms at the colbourn by smiley happy helpful hosts! We were showed to our rooms through the gorgeous house to our rooms where we were amazed at the size, furnishings and cleanliness! 5*s all round excellent stsy
Review 109:We thought the cooked breakfast was a bit on the small side, but otherwise the quality was good.
Review 110:The owners were very friendly. The superior room (1) was lovely, really liked the en-suite with the lighthouse wallpaper! Everything spotlessly clean. We went on the strength of previous reviews, and they were all well deserved.
Review 111:There was nothing I didn't like
Review 112:The owners were friendly and welcoming. As I am a Coeliac (Gluten free) The hotel advertised themselves as Gluten free which made the breakfast more interesting for me. The room was big, clean, comfortable and quiet and with a veiw of the sea. Couldn't ask for anything more for a few days stay.
