Reviews for The Trout Inn
Review 1:The room was slight too warm
Review 2:Arrived tired after a long journey. Even though it was 9 pm we were provided with food. The room was excellent and breakfast arrived at 8 30 as arranged
Review 3:Bed was a bit lumpy but not bad enough to put us off going again!!
Review 4:Genuinely friendly staff, who couldn't do enough for us, the food is excellent and the hotel is in a very pretty location
Review 5:No wi-fi in the room (there is in the bar), so if you can't live offline beware !
Review 6:Very spacious room in a lovely out of town location by the river. Historic old building with oak beams and creaky floors. We didn't eat dinner at the pub, but the breakfast was excellent. Very friendly welcome.
Review 7:Over priced accommodation, internally needs renovating. Needs to decide what it is , a pub, a restaurant or children's play area. Did not eat there apart from breakfast. ( which was good ) was put off by dowdy decor ,children's toys and pool table. Shame lovely location.
Review 8:The location
Review 9:Extremely friendly staff & an exceptionally clean room & bathroom made this a step above the usual British pub. The breakfasts were amazing, & the bar food & drink selection good too, we really enjoyed our stay here.
Review 10:No complaints at all, Maybe the lighting in Dining area a little dark, (but that may be our old age)
Review 11:Very well selected Main meal menu, well presented and cooked. Very pleasant and helpful staff. We enjoyed our stay and would recomend you to others.
Review 12:Wi-Fi is only available in the bar.
Review 13:The staff were pleasant and professional. The view across the main road to the thatched cottage opposite and the river beyond is lovely. Sunday lunch was good.
Review 14:Wifi didn't work in the room but did in the bar downstairs. The room was quite hot ( thick walls) and we were unable to open the window, but minor issue.
Review 15:Very friendly staff running the pub. Room huge and we had views of the river from the window. Nice bed/and bedding and very good modern bathroom. Excellent breakfast and resident dog, Jess, a sweetie! Despite being on the main road, we were not bothered by traffic noise.
Review 16:The greatest asset the Trought Inn has is that it is family run and all the staff look after you and are very friendly and helpful. Good good and excellent full English breakfast.
Review 17:Too much fabric conditioner in the towels, so that they didn't actually absorb any water. Busy road outside. Bar area dark.
Review 18:Room quite big, nice decoration, view of the river. 2 chairs! (Unusual!) Easy to find.
Review 19:It can be noisy in the room with noise from the pub dining area until closing time and also with noise from the next door room.
Review 20:The staff couldn't be more helpful and the food is very good.
Review 21:We had a wonderful stay at the Trout Inn. The staff were helpful and friendly and even made us a special take away breakfast as we were up early one day! Would recommend having a evening meal here as the food was superb.
Review 22:Would benefit by having wi fi available in room, have to go to bar area to send business e-mails.
Review 23:Great and Friendly welcome from Emma. Excellent food and at a reasonable price. Nice and clean place to stay.
Review 24:Everything was perfect..although we only stayed for 1 night...the room was lovely..spotlessly clean and very comfy...the food was excellent and the breakfast was yummy.....even the family dog made us feel welcome....will certainly return.. Many thanks to Fiona :-)
Review 25:The television was to far away to watch it in bed
Review 26:Every thing, it would be a lovely place to stay in the good weather, the scrabbled eggs at breakfast were out of this world
Review 27:Lovely country pub, very easy to find. Staff really friendly and helpful. Bedroom warm and comfortable. Bar quite cold but apparently they were having heating problems. Food very good and reasonably priced.
Review 28:Maybe need to lobby council to put in a Zebra Xing and slow sign for traffic on this very rural road, no issue for us but care crossing.
Review 29:Location Excellent, Owners / Staff so pleasant, Room very comfortable and spacious, breakfast to die for, cannot fault anything, thanks for a most pleasant and welcome stay
Review 30:Nothing other than no bottled water in the room, although this wouldn't stop me from staying here again.
Review 31:The friendly welcome, which is always much appreciated when travelling alone. The room was clean with plenty of refreshments, it would have been nice to have a bottle of water as well. Food was excellent and served promptly, although it wasn't busy. My room was at the front of the hotel next to the busy road, however I didn't hear it at all.
Review 32:Warm welcome. Good to see dogs welcomed too. Efficient friendly staff. Lovely bedroom with view of river. Food excellent ... certainly not pub grub. Fresh fish a must.....yummy.
Review 33:Towels too small. No heated towel rail (important). WiFi non-existent in the room.
Review 34:Totally friendly atmosphere. Great staff with real and justified pride. Comfortable. Good food and wine. Good country music.
Review 35:Fronts on to very busy road, and car park canonly be accessed by crossing the road.....life in ones hand time!
Review 36:Spacious and comfortable room; fabulous breakfast; very friendly staff.....excellent
Review 37:There were problems with the WiFi connection - which was only working sporadically on the evening.
Review 38:Great bar - real ale - and meal facilities Staff very welcoming and accommodating - I had to leave early in the morning and they kindly arranged to put out a breakfast for me (ice cooled to keep fresh)
Review 39:Bath towels need to be bathsheets. Wifi happened to be out of action when we were there.
Review 40:Staff could not have done more to make the stay enjoyable. Food was very good quality and the menu was interesting. Room 4 was big beautifully/tastefully decorated. We would recommend to friends.
Review 41:The traffic crossing the road to the car park but it was manageable with care.
Review 42:The hotel was comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. This made our stay relaxing and just what we expected for an overnight stay.
Review 43:Nothing!
Review 44:We stayed at The Trout Inn overnight on the 12th Oct 2014. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome. The room was excellent with everything needed for an overnight stay. The evening food we had at the Trout was fantastic. The steak was cooked to perfection and the host even created a surf and turf, so we shared steak and monk fish - Fabulous! The breakfast in the morning was also fantastic (huge), it kept us going all day! I cannot recommend this little gem of a place enough and will certainly try and return. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay in a beautiful location.
Review 45:The car park is on the opposite side of the road to the hotel.
Review 46:food was excellent and with variety. staff were excellent and very friendly. bedroom was a good size and with modern walk in shower. enjoyed our stay,we will return.
Review 47:From the moment we pulled up and walked in we loved everything about The Trout Inn. It's location, it's quaintness, the staff were all so helpful and obliging, the room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was WOW thanks to Fiona for her excellent service. We only wish we could have had a longer stay. Would definitely stay here again if ever we are in the UK.
Review 48:Excellent service. Went above and beyond to make our stay with two young children stress free. Large spacious room. Lovely food. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 49:I thought the variety in breakfasts was small. I would of liked a yoghurt and some fresh fruit but both unavailable. It's on a busy road.
Review 50:The hotel was lovely and comfortable with a small play room for small children & a pool table for adults down stairs. Our family room was lovely facing on to the road which was noisy.
Review 51:Noisy road outside which meant an early wake-up call. This of course can't be remedied!
Review 52:Lovely room, very clean and comfortable. Owners and staff very helpful and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent food.
Review 53:Could not fault the Trout Inn, staff very friendly and helpful, evening meal was great as was the breakfast, the room was clean and comfy. would definitely recommend and would most certainly stay again
Review 54:No wi-fi reception in bedroom Had to leave the wardrobe doors open to stop them rattling while walking in the room
Review 55:Excellent Breakfast & Dinner Very friendly staff Spacious room
Review 56:Only downside was parking was opposite the trout which was a little tricky but not a huge deal.
Review 57:The staff where very friendly and very helpful. Our room was spacious for four and the food was lovely. Emma was so helpful and the children loved her.
Review 58:It was absolutely gorgeous, the hosts were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The room was large, comfortable and very modern but with an old world charm. The food was superb. Would definitely recommend it!
Review 59:It is next to quite a busy road so you might be disturbed. Would still go again though as the positives far outweigh the road.
Review 60:Spacious room for four if us with lovely views of the river. Emma (the owner) couldn't do enough for us & was friendly & welcoming. Great for kids as well as adults & the food was excellent.
Review 61:Unfortunately the beds were a bit small particularly the double bed and the mattresses had certainly seen better days. Also the traffic from the road outside could be very noisy at times with the window open but not so bad with it closed.
Review 62:The reception from the staff upon arrival made us feel instantly welcome, and they were very accommodating as they had even provided an extra bed to allow four of us to sleep in the one room although there were only three of us who finally came. The service throughout our stay and the breakfast were superb. We were never rushed and always made to feel relaxed as we were on holiday which provided a real homely feel. There was a lovely view of the river from the room and the historic nature of the pub gave it a real traditional rustic feel. A good choice of hand pulled beers also for the more discerning beer drinkers out there.
