Reviews for Gascony Hotel

Review 1:The only channel on the TV in the room was BBC1 SW. Bit chilly when we arrived though it was abnormally windy at the time.

Review 2:Good location, friendly hosts and staff, comfortable bed and a good night's sleep followed by a good breakfast. Nice to park the car in the middle of Minehead and forget about it for a day. Short walk to the station and beach (and just about everything else).

Review 3:Our room was above the kitchen and there was quite a bit of noise coming from there very early in the morning. Also breakfast on a Sunday could be slightly later 8.30 to 9.30.

Review 4:Nice room and great breakfast

Review 5:Cold room at night, bath not shower and the veiw next door out the rear window very untidy!

Review 6:Pleasant freindly staff very clean! Good position, good breakfast,

Review 7:A very pleasant stay, again. Very nice helpful staff. I will be going there again. A very good breakfast and the food available in the evenings is well up to standard. I enjoyed every meal I had.

Review 8:We did not have a bad experience but the mattress could have been more comfortable.

Review 9:The staff were all very friendly & helpful, & the full English breakfast was delicious. Being in the high street & very close to the beach was ideal.

Review 10:Th staff were so attentive and were so eager to make sure everything was pleasant in regards to our trip. The rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard and the food served was delicious - especially as we had fussy eaters within our party.

Review 11:The mattresses were rather hard.

Review 12:A reasonably priced hotel in a very convenient location close to the beach, shops and restaurants. Our room was not huge but the bathroom was large with choice of bath or shower. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice to suit all tastes and appetites.

Review 13:The room was very spacious with a fantastic en-suite, my only slight criticism would be that the shower is not very powerful.

Review 14:Lovely spacious hotel in an ideal location, close to sea and steam railway and bars and restaurants. The staff are friendly and the food served is first class.

Review 15:En suite shower essentially unusable (we coped for two nights) either cold or too hot, water spilt over onto the floor in some quantity. Reception desk very obviously "aged" and was off-putting when arriving.

Review 16:Location is convenient. Room comfortable and clean/tidy. Staff were friendly and helpful but we thought should have worn some basic uniform (white blouse?) to distinguish them from guests. Minehead is a struggling "resort" and is not helped if hotels lack professionalism - we think.

Review 17:Hot water took a bit of time to run hot

Review 18:proximity to sea front and town centre, friendly staff, nice room, handy car park, bar available, nice breakfast

Review 19:No negatives!

Review 20:Really well appointed room. Great position to all facilities in Minehead. Lots of free parking. Lovely staff and excellent food. Wonderful value.

Review 21:The bed was close to the shower room, and the shower room was very narrow to the point you could not dry yourself, and also the sliding door

Review 22:Nice location, good food,

Review 23:The only thing we could find fault with were the pillows, they are very hard, like sleeping on a bag of sand.

Review 24:It was a lovely stay. Everyone were so caring and friendly and everything was so clean!!!

Review 25:The bed was very bad, definitely not suitable for the disabled. The noise outside into the early hours was very off putting.

Review 26:Nearly All was very good, Staff NO complaints at all, very helpful always on hand. Dinner was very nice, breakfast room was very clean and the staff could not be more helpful/

Review 27:Very noisy outside so had to sleep with windows closed at night. Got a bit stuffy. But not the hotel's fault.

Review 28:Clean and comfortable, good central location for beach, shops and attractions. Friendly staff.

Review 29:Booked a family room but was allocated a standard double. Narrow window for breakfast, 8-9am, with two young boys up and hungry at 7!

Review 30:Good location, close to the seafront and shops on high street. Friendly staff, family run hotel. Made every effort to solve problem with room on first evening. Very clean and comfortable.

Review 31:wifi not available in rooms, I wanted to relax in my room and use my laptop and was very disappointed when I couldn't.

Review 32:the daughter of the owner was very helpful and very friendly the room I had was very nice I was in room 10 I brought my mum and dad and they loved the hotel,

Review 33:The hotel is well situated at the seafront end of the town. Our room was fairly spacious, had a comfortable bed and was very clean. We particularly enjoyed the ample breakfast. All the staff were very friendly.

Review 34:Ordered evening meal for two adults. I received mine and nearly eaten it before my friends arrived. Also meat was tough. Not over friendly but polite except young dark haired female.( nice smiley and polite

Review 35:Cleanliness, comfort of bed, aquiped with toiletries, hairdryer and wifi throughout. Near to everything in area.

Review 36:we were in one of the non refurbished rooms, decor a bit tired.

Review 37:Excellent location, very clean, very good breakfast choice, plenty of parking, most staff very friendly.

Review 38:The mature lady was quite abrupt on a number of occasions. The breakfast window is also too short; 8-9 am. There are quite a lot of people staying and it made breakfast too busy and we felt rushed. On one occasion our cooked breakfast was delivered before we had finished our cereal!! This needs looking at.

Review 39:The hotel is perfectly situated for the beach, the harbour and the steam railway. The Avenue on which is stands has loads of shops and places to eat.

Review 40:Need a Hand rail, in the shower area Also the bed, mattress , could be up-dated. Also ,telephone, in the room, not every one, has a moblie

Review 41:The staff.

Review 42:Lovely pretty hotel, in great location, everything on your doorstep, very clean, staff were very friendly, breakfast good. would definateley come back again.

Review 43:Room 24 Only a hand held shower with no curtain.A shelf over the sink which made it impossible to lower your head over the sink. 3/4hr wait for Sunday breakfast due to a strict time limit on breakfast 8-9am making it impossible to serve everyone. A barrack room type dining room. All these points were made on leaving

Review 44:The comfortable room and the car parking

Review 45:No bad experiences, which does not surprise me, as I have stayed at the hotel before - although not for some years.

Review 46:Food has always been excellent at this hotel, together with friendly and efficient staff. It was nice in the shower to have a proper container for keeping shower gel and shampoo. Other hotels, please note.

Review 47:Very narrow breakfast time (8-9am). Bar closed early. Door locked at 10pm. Very weak shower above the bath.

Review 48:Good location on Minehead's main street. Free wi-fi with no password.

Review 49:could only stay one night as we had to move on and would have liked to have stayed longer

Review 50:The place had all we wanted and needed with a really nice room a joy to stay in

Review 51:I enjoyed it all and would look forward to visiting again.

Review 52:I noted Wifi was available which is good. I am not disabled but a visitor staying there at the same time said she found the facilities good for her wheelchair access, although I presume of course that you need to clarify your needs to have the right room booked.

Review 53:Toilet flush was very poor, used Sanifold system whatever that is, and had trouble just with Toilet paper alone, needed to use brush all the time. Pillows need to be firmer. Tv very tiny, but as I didnt watch much during my stay not too much of a bother

Review 54:Comfortable Room, Clean and Tidy

Review 55:The ensuite was very smal and the shower would have been impossible to use if you were on the big side. I am 6ft and not over weight and still had to get out of the shower to pick the soap up when dropped or to wash you feet

Review 56:cleanliness and upkeep of the decor. Breakfasts very nice. Staff all friendly Good location very near the sea and beach

Review 57:Access to car park was off a one-way street and on arrival, having seen the hotel, I turned the "wrong way" to get to it. Advice on the booking form or hotel information page would not go amiss.

Review 58:Friendly reception. Comfortable bed apart from pillows being too hard. Free w-fi was excellent with no messing around for passwords etc. Very good breakfast. Normally stay at Premier Inn for such visits but there is none within 20 miles; this was a very favourable alternative.

Review 59:The interior was looking tired .my room was a bit cramped.the TV was tiny and the remote did not work very well. The shower was new but the water pressure was so low it only dribbled The food was plentiful but am quality only average The interior walls were not soundproof so one could hear the noisy occupants in the next room.

Review 60:The location was good for my holiday needs.

Review 61:I have a cronic back condition so I found the seating in the bar and chairs in my room uncomfortable. It would be quite expensive for the hotel to deal with this.

Review 62:My bed was excellent. Perfect for my back. I slept like a log. The staff were all very friendly but allowed you your space - perfect combination.

Review 63:nothing

Review 64:Staff were friendly and the hotel was very clean. The full English Breakfast was cooked perfectly and was a great start for a day's walking on Exmoor.

Review 65:For a hotel at this time, price and location - nothing.

Review 66:Very friendly family run hotel, just right for our needs, not too swanky. 4 and 5 star places can often be too pretentious with staff expecting tips, for just doing their job. We will happily visit again.

Review 67:only minor , could not find radio channels on the digital TV, i.e. 702=radio 2 normally, no big deal just whatched TV

Review 68:Room was completely spotless and fresh, quality finish , not at all claustrophobic quite roomy , fabulous car park, ready early which is always nice

Review 69:The hotel rented many rooms to a band playing at the near by Butlins site. Therefore coming and goings at 4 am through to 8 am sunday morning, banging of doors, shouting and swearing with no regard for other guests. A naive apology from staff did not make up for lack of sleep, slamming of doors and shouting and foul language throughout breakfast. A weekend of relaxation ruined.

Review 70:The hotel was in a great location, spacious with lovely rooms. The breakfast was very nice. Our first impressions were good

Review 71:Our only criticism was that breakfast time ought to be extended from 1 hour (08.00-09.00) to 1.5 hrs (08.00-09.30)

Review 72:Warm, helpful, friendly staff. Good, well prepared breakfast Central Minehead location Comfortable and spacious family room WiFi access in room Complimentary toiletries

Review 73:I felt the dining room was dated but this is a minor detail as I would definitely stay here again.

Review 74:The location was close to the seafront and the town and there was parking. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel was spotlessly clean. The breakfast had everything you could ask for and the quality was good. We were out of season and so for us it was great value for money.

Review 75:Very cold heater not bif enough for the size of the room and no heating at all in the bathroom not even a towel rail to dry the towels

Review 76:Good location with parking Clean and breakfast was good

Review 77:Hotel next door. Had a party on and disturbed my sleep.

Review 78:The guscony was a very pleasant hotel and had no complaints whatsoever. Planning to return at some point.

Review 79:Our room was very close to the next bedroom, the people next door to us kept us awake most of the night by very loud talking and closing the door, which spoilt it for us,they had no consideration for people sleeping.Apart from this the room was very clean and comfortable.

Review 80:Staff very helpful and friendly.Lovely breakfast.Good location Hotel rooms were very clean. Margaret Curry Rivel,Somerset

Review 81:Staff were very friendly and helpful, beds were VERY comfortable. Breakfast was yummy. They were happy to let us leave our gear while we went out for the day. The car park was safe and secure. Loved that we were close to a few restaurants and pubs.

Review 82:Although my wife and I had to cut our stay short due to family illness,we were more than satisfied with the Gascony, and will definitely stay there again. If they'll have us!!

Review 83:Room was very small, there was no place to stand or move. Bathroom even smaller and no locks inside the bathroom!!! The room smell of oil paint and no room freshner was available, asked to change the room and was told none available. Very small bed, didnt have comfortable sheets ( they didnt appear very clean..a bit dusty).

Review 84:The breakfast served was good and breakfast arrangements were good. Friendly and welcoming staff and good neighbourhood. Cant fault staff at all.

Review 85:The staff in reception were welcoming. The hotel was clean and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The meals were excellent. The rooms on the small side but everything was there that you required. Very near to the sea front and reasonable prices, Just remember there is a one way system to the car park.

Review 86:Thought evening meals were expensive,so didn't try them.Would have used them if the price had been under £10.

Review 87:Friendly and helpful staff, clean room and excellent location. What more could you want.

Review 88:Evening meals stopped very early (but there are plenty of places nearby to go to). It would have been nice to have Wi-Fi in the room as well as downstairs.

Review 89:We were made very welcome. The room was comfortable and spacious with a good sized bathroom. The breakfast was excellent.

Review 90:Having to wait for breakfast, after order being taken and then others who entered dining after us being served first, on enquirying why told a pack of lies.

Review 91:Good location

Review 92:We were staying with our 3 year old (who doesn't understand volume control!) and would have preferred some background music in the breakfast room, which would have made us feel a little less self conscious - a very minor point, I know!

Review 93:The hotel is in an excellent location, just a couple of minutes stroll from the beach and close to shops and places to eat. The rooms are spotlessly clean and provided all we needed for our brief stay. We arrived late, having called ahead when we realised we wouldn't arrive before 10pm and the gentleman that we spoke to was very accommodating. The breakfast was very nice and freshly cooked.

Review 94:Shower was awful kept going hot and cold. After 15 mins trying to fill the bath gave up. Not what you expect.

Review 95:Bedroom furnishings, comfortable bed, very nicley decorated.

Review 96:Coffee was instant and sometimes a bit cool..

Review 97:Staff were friendly and helpful especially with a disabled friend. The room was clean and well appointed. It was very near the sea front and also local cafes and restaurants. The breakfast was good.

Review 98:The walls were really thin and I was kept awake all night by a man snoring in next room. You could hear other people's televisions too. Take ear plugs!

Review 99:It was clean, comfy beds and nice breakfast.

Review 100:Nothing

Review 101:Stayed in the family room for one night, we found the staff to be very friendly and the breakfast was of good choice, would recommend the hotel and stay there again

Review 102:Street noise when windows open but what you would expect with town centre location.

Review 103:Very comfortable and clean, staff extremely friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend

Review 104:Not applicable!

Review 105:Newly re-furbished bedroom, location, friendly staff. Able to park all day on arrival and the day of departure if needed! Excellent value for money!

Review 106:Noisy Fan that stayed on for a long time in the Bathroom, but understood had to be there for ventilation due to no windows. Due to the time of the year the room window was left open and during the night you could hear the window fan below in the Kitchen, maybe could be turned off at night.

Review 107:Friendly helpful staff Rooms had all the requirements Available Bar meals or Dinner if wanted Suitable Bar area to sit and have a drink Car Park at the rear of Hotel A mixture of guest age groups

Review 108:Climbing to the gods to get to our room but the room was excellent

Review 109:The Hotel was great, secure free parking also to the rear. Close to the beach and local shops etc etc.

Review 110:Could of had a shower curtain over the bath.

Review 111:We had a couple of nights stay here which we couldn't fault, the room was nice and clean and friendly staff. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 112:It would have been nice to have Hot Chocolate Sachets and Biscuits in the Room, along with the provided Tea / Coffee. Also, with the particularly overwhelming hot Weather during my Stay, no Windows were open for Air to come in the Dining Room at Breakfast

Review 113:The Peace The Provision of the Fan in your Room

Review 114:Bedroom adequate for one night stay. Decor a little "tired" but general cleanliness okay.

Review 115:Breakfast good, Freshly coked. Staff very pleasant and consideration taken of my needs for easy access. Car park handy. Location excellent for local eateries etc, Downstairs areas well decorated and pleasant.

Review 116:the sound of noisy late-night revellers in the road outside (although in fairness this is something the hotel can do nothing about).

Review 117:The location was very convenient for shops and seafront. I liked the fact that the hotel had ample secure parking and that you could leave your vehicle until 5 pm on day of departure. The food was appetising and the dining room inviting.

Review 118:Finding the car park was a little tricky due to the one way system. Easy once you know where to go.

Review 119:The location close to the sea front is excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. The staf were cheerful, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was quite good

Review 120:Corridor light went out too quickly. The path between the car park and the entrance was cluttered. It was easier to use the footpath!

Review 121:Quiet location Large car park Good choice for breakfast

Review 122:Friendly staff, central location, nice breakfast.

Review 123:The helpful staff

Review 124:Dinner only until 7.00 pm
