Review 1:Nothing to complain about!
Review 2:Central, close to sea. Good pub atmosphere, good food at good prices. Just the job for someone exploring Seaton and surrounding area. On site parking a bonus.
Review 3:The bed in our room was well past its sell by date. Needs to be replaced.. Heating seemed to be on full blast, to hot! Finding sweets from another occupant on the floor, not great but overall the room was clean.
Review 4:The helpful staff, always wanting to help you, pleasant atmosphere. Good ale in the bar, splendid breakfast. Just a few improvements would make this a excellent place to stay..
Review 5:Place needs redecorating, blood on bed and pillows not changed, hot water out of cold tap shower to small no hand rails or clothes pegs in bathroom customers allowed to smoke in bar no facilities for disabled which was asked for, evening meal very poor.my partner had m s which the hotel was informed but no facilities to help her
Review 6:Location excellent. Staff very friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. They obviously have a very good chef, as food was really good. Would definately go again, in fact we are hoping to,again in the new year.
Review 7:The Malt House next door lacked hospitality and was a disappointment.
Review 8:We stayed here to be able to visit River Cottage and we were made to feel welcome, breakfast was great and the room was very comfortable. Seaton is a lovely town. We enjoyed the very friendly kebab shop. River Cottage was awesome too!!
Review 9:TV needed up dating - couldn't get ITV1, but not too bothered wasn't there to watch telly. Decor little tired.
Review 10:Close to town centre and sea front. Service was good and staff brilliantly helpful. Bed extremely comfy - suggest bigger quilts maybe, single quilts don't really cut it. Breakfast very nice.
Review 11:Super friendly staff, very good location. Even though the building is old, and it shows on the paintwork in some places, it really only adds to the charm. Being impeccably clean is much more important to us, and we were very satisfied overall.
Review 12:1. difficult to access by car 'cos of one way system and dead ends! 2. I love my bath but the room had a shower
Review 13:comfortable bed, good food and a parking slot
Review 14:the bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in. You could feel every single spring. The bathroom and decor need renovating.
Review 15:The location was good
Review 16:The tv in the room was way to small and the wifi was hit and miss and didnt like the security light being on all night as it lit the room up considerably ,sometimes parking was an issue
Review 17:Breakfasts were excellent although a choice of fruit and muesli wouldnt have gone a miss .you could come and go as you please and staff were excellent
Review 18:If I praise too much they may be full next time I need to stay.
Review 19:The convenience of the hotel to all local facilities. The quality of the food. The friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff we encountered. Would recomend to anyone
Review 20:Cleanliness of the room was poor. Dust on carpet under dressing table. Bathroom was very unpleasant, toothbrush holder was very dirty. Family room placed with window overlooking very large kitchen extractor which was loud. No chance of little ones getting to sleep if you need the window open. Very uncomfortable beds, needed general TLC.
Review 21:Lovely friendly staff. Good cooked breakfast with generous portions.
Review 22:It was quite complicated to find how to turn the lights on in the bathroom as well as the shower (pull certain strings) and the electricity socket was not the same as usual, so that took some working out as well.
Review 23:Pleasant staff, pleasant room, good meals available
Review 24:The family room is actually 2 decent size rooms, really good if you're travelling with kids as you can shut the door on them in the evening! The staff were very helpful.
Review 25:The bed and room were small and the hotel was very shabby and uninviting. The bedroom carpet didn't appear to have been hoovered during our three-night stay. No offer of help with bags up the stairs.
Review 26:Its location is excellent and the breakfast was good. The staff were courteous.
Review 27:We didn't try eating there in the evening, so can't comment.

Review 32:The location is perfect, lovely spacious room, comfy bed, parking, reasonably priced drinks, lovely to be able to sit outside in the sun!
Review 33:Unfortunately arrived early afternoon but no food served until 6pm. Looking a bit tired needs bit of decorating and tidying. Charged for extra bed for 2 year old grandson.
Review 34:Staff very helpful, breakfast choice and quality was excellent. Room size good.
Review 35:Bed and bedding left something to be desired, clean but very poor pillows and a winter weight quilt.
Review 36:Good location, staff very pleasant. Good breakfasts and meals in the evening were good value.
Review 37:Our bed was the worse one we have ever slept in, in any hotel that we have stayed at. Springs were felt all over the mattress. The pillows were flat, no substance to them.
Review 38:Not much
Review 39:I think this place has could have a huge amount going for it!! If they modernised it a bit more! The whole hotel and bar looks and feels from the 90s. Which is fine but it's 2015? Should have been a budget price. It WASN'T dirty, just very out dated.
Review 40:The location was brill, right in the town centre. The staff were ok, friendly. But could have been more welcoming. Room was very large.
Review 41:We stayed in room 2. The mattress was dreadful, very lumpy. Four flat pancake pillows. The room was also a little dated and in need of a refurbishment. Room was clean though. Same rates as many hotels in Devon and Cornwall but not up to the general mark. Seaton cannot compete with other close proximity resorts.
Review 42:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Gave a good informative welcome. The hotel was central to all areas of the town. Good breakfast though portions were quite large. Meals were also good quality and very large portions.Good central place to stay in Seaton.
Review 43:During my last night did not have heating. Don't know why.
Review 44:The room. The bed was comfortable. The staff was quite helpful. The full English breakfast was one of the best.
Review 45:Looking a little tired, no continental breakfast although advertised very little choice for breakfast if you can't eat eggs
Review 46:Nice staff Bar menus and food good
Review 47:Had a very uncomfortable bed for our first night, but they had changed the mattress by 2nd night; better.
Review 48:Good place to stay - staff friendly and helpful; food good.
Review 49:The bed in our room had a hard and lumpy sprung mattress which needs replacing. Also had to ask directions as sat nav couldn't cope with one-way system.
Review 50:Friendly and helpfull staff. Food was homely and well presented.
Review 51:The TV was difficult to work and a bit too small to see; shame the WiFi coverage did not extent to bedrooms. The cold water tap was very squeaky and loud.
Review 52:The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was plentiful and with good variety. The bed was really comfy, and there was lots of storage!
Review 53:Lack of wifi access Limited breakfast options for vegetarian (but not a big deal)
Review 54:Hospitality of the owners - very accomodating despite the late night arrival
Review 55:nothing was too much trouble for the staff spending time to answer questions about the local area, what could be found, assuring our short stay was fully utilised to get a true picture to assist us in determining if the area is right for our future retirement.
Review 56:The hotel showing it's age a bit and the mattress really needs replacing.
Review 57:We stayed Ssturday night for The Grizzly run. The staff were helpful with parking for the next day and breakfast for the morning. Evening meal was very nice.
Review 58:wifi not very strong in room, had to use bar for a good signal. Mattress springy /old needs updating & small tv
Review 59:Clean good-sized modern rooms, excellent location, service and breakfast great. Lots of good variety for tv channels.
Review 60:I would prefer a bigger bathroom but you cannot have everything.
Review 61:The staff are friendly & happy whilst remaining professional at all times. We enjoyed both breakfasts & dinners on our too short stay. Very central situation with car parking.
Review 62:A simple towel rail and a couple of hooks on the bathroom door would have been very useful. The shower temperature was difficult to regulate.
Review 63:Pleasant and helpful staff. Good food. Comfortable room. In centre of town close to seafront.
Review 64:The walls were paper-thin and I could hear too much of anything happening in the bathroom next door.
Review 65:The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very tasty
Review 66:Negotiating the one way system of the town makes it tricky to find the hotel. Very easy of access on foot.
Review 67:The landlord was extremely kind, funny, chatty. The staff we met were very friendly. Their policy on allergies is taken seriously and they bent backwards to accommodate me. The food was unpretentious, tasty and generous and the wines reasonably priced. The room was very cosy. The hotel car park was very convenient. YES, we would go back.
Review 68:A great hotel, good location and welcoming. Live music every Sunday afternoon it doesn't get much better. Food was great, try the steaks... Beer well kept. Will go again.
Review 69:This was our second stay and is well located to the town and beach. The room was comfortable with a good breakfast and great evening meals. Parking on site was very convenient.
Review 70:WiFi was bad in my room, but fine in lounge bar. Shower a bit weak. TV too small for easy watching.
Review 71:All food was freshly made, very generous and good value. Choice of real beers. All staff went out of their way to be welcoming. Spacious room.
Review 72:the negatives *thin threadbare towels * uncomfortable mattresses * poor decoration
Review 73:the positives *location *friendliness of locals and staff *quality of breakfast
Review 74:wifi was really bad , tv in room needs updating kept going silent and going colour to black and white really annoying.matress on bed needs changing felt well worn and constantly creaking with every movement.
Review 75:breakfast was fantastic and staff couldn't do enough . separate entrance to pub . nice and close to sea front and town.
Review 76:The only drawback in the room was the mattress which felt uncomfortable and springy. I would suggest adding a mattress topper.
Review 77:The owners and staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The room was quiet and clean and had good tea and coffee making facilities. In the morning, we chose the continental breakfast which was lovely. The portions were very generous, the service discreet and efficient.
Review 78:Room was clean but in need of a little refurbishment & redecoration. As the beds were so uncomfortable we stayed for only one of the two nights that we booked.
Review 79:Friendly & helpful staff and good location.
Review 80:Breakfast was fine evening meal was very poor steak was supposed to be rare but came out well done complained about this to staff offered us a free drink .floor boards very sqeaky needs a upgrade a.s.a.p
Review 81:The only thing i liked about this hotel it was right on the beach
Review 82:The staff were very friendly lots of locals very homely food excellent on Sunday entertainment the chap was very good Shame we only had one night but we will definitely go back and soon
Review 83:Lumpy bed meant we didn't sleep so well.
Review 84:The friendly staff, nice atmosphere and enjoyable dinner. Well situated for a short stay. The prices were reasonable especially for high season.
Review 85:Bed and pillows could have been much better. Restaurant (pub) food only average for dinner, but breakfast was very good.
Review 86:Good location. Good breakfast. Clean.
Review 87:the shower cubicle was small and not so easy to get into the bedroom carpet needed a clean as there are a few stains on it
Review 88:the overall relaxed yet professional way that the hotel is managed. breakfast was very good and good choices
Review 89:Very outdated decor and ornaments (just don't need bits and pieces) in bedroom but it was clean.
Review 90:Friendly staff Good breakfast Close to the sea Quiet on a Friday evening Biscuits, coffee and toiletries were nice.
Review 91:The bed was too hard The seagulls were very noisy early in the morning Breakfast only served between 8am to 9am - I would have liked a longer window
Review 92:Clean Home-cooked breakfasts (I recommend the mushroom omelet) Friendly staff I couldn't hear the bar from my room
Review 93:We booked a family room for two adults and a child and were actually given two adjoining rooms each with their own television. Our six year old daughter was very impressed! Great value. The food was extremely good - I would return for the breakfast omelette alone!
Review 94:Room was a little dated but still very acceptable, the TV was amongst the smallest I have ever seen!
Review 95:Live music, careing and attentive staff, good choice of 'normal' food and fantastic breakfast
Review 96:Only one thing - they had live music all day which was so loud! I wish hotels/b&b's would advise people of this sort of thing when booking. Had our daughter been with us we would have probably had to leave as she would struggle to sleep through it. Thankfully she wasn't with us so it was alright.
Review 97:The location was great Clean and functional room Nice breakfast Friendly service
Review 98:Room, furnishings and curtains very dated and in need of redecoration and replacement. Furniture shabby, scruffy needed re-waxing or repainting. Shower very small for such a large room and not very well cleaned. Noisy patrons leaving at end of quiz and chatting very loudly below room window. Windows only single glazed and very dilapidated. car park scruffy and old rubbish piled at rear.
Review 99:Excellent location, friendly staff, very accommodating with breakfast requests. Lovely big room with good views. Parking and dining on site, with beer garden and terrace
Review 100:The room was very hot and the hotel was in need of a good refurb. The outside was beginning to look a bit tired although Seaton was generally a bit run down and needed some investment.
Review 101:Staff were friendly , the bar served good real ale and prices were fair. The breakfast was good and it was a good location near the seafront.
Review 102:The bed was a bit tired, but most importantly: the dinner was quite apalling. The scalops were raw and the plaice was overcooked, and that was accompanied by giant size dry fries. By all means have an English breakfast there but skip the dining.
Review 103:Nice hotel with a good pub run by friendly staff. Seaton is not the greatest beach town but it was a pleasure to be there.
Review 104:The shower had mould and needed a thorough clean as did the bathroom in general. The needed a new mattress as you could feel the springs.
Review 105:The friendliness of the staff. The room was a comfortable size and view. The breakfast and dinner were excellent.
Review 106:Plenty of things to find if your looking to complain. For location and comfort you cant go wrong. Brand new shower in our room and im sure given time it will get better.
Review 107:Location is perfect. We stayed in Seaton then spent the day in Weymouth.
Review 108:Television not working (did not seem to be an aerial Poor fittings (bare wires showing of main room light Mirror too high in bathroom Very very squeaky floors and thin walls
Review 109:Friendly/Helpful staff
Review 110:Noisy seagulls!! They never sleep! Seaton is a bit run down in general & room is in need of a spruce up - get rid of the horrible chair in Room 1
Review 111:Friendly staff, lovely food both evening meal & breakfast. Great atmosphere in pub
Review 112:Bathrooms could do with a little more TLC.
Review 113:Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Pub quiz good fun, although the locals are better than visitors at answering the questions!
Review 114:Not a great view from the window - but we did book quite late
Review 115:Staff we looked after us very well. Breakfast was good. Nice to be so close to the beach. Pretty area generally.
Review 116:This property has been neglected over a considerable period of time, for example the entrance to the hotel, car park area , hotel external appearance could be improved , just needs somebody to make an effort! Unfortunately reflects many of the other properties in Seaton that also look tired and in a similar state of disrepair.
