Reviews for The Beach Hotel
Review 1:The team at the hotel were exceptionally friendly and even provided a bag of toys for my young son. The room was extremely generous in size, and breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend
Review 2:Only area which perhaps could be improved is a little bit quicker with the cooked breakfast
Review 3:The staff really went out of their way to help with nanny who had a broken hip and shoulder. Very friendly and accomodating
Review 4:Lovely stay at the beach hotel, friendly welcome, lovely room, very spacious family room, big comfy bed & 2 good single beds with plenty of storage. Beautiful new fresh clean bathroom. Amazing breakfast!
Review 5:Small niggle. .The bed was too hard for us but totally appreciate this is hard to get right for all guests.
Review 6:The staff were all very friendly and happy to help. Great recommendations for eating out.
Review 7:Wonderful staff that bent over backwards to help us with everything from phone charger adapters to transport back to the airport at odd hours. We would, and will, return to The Beach Hotel!
Review 8:Room furniture was on the large size The bathroom mirror was much to small Also offer American filtered coffee more cost effective lasts longer in the pot Look at meal delivery to much running back and forth
Review 9:The idea of an operational hotel providing staff training is very good The readiness of the senior staff to request comment good or bad was very refreshing
Review 10:We stayed in a deluxe room which although the bathroom was very nice we thought the room as a whole was very basic. The decor was stark and the pillows were very poor quality. Also the noise outside our room from cars racing in the car park at night was most annoying.
Review 11:Easy access to everywhere we wished to visit
Review 12:We both were greated by such happy friendly staff, they made us feel welcome and we would definitely stay again! We only stayed one night but we would love to stay longer next time. The breakfast was amazing nice and full after that :)
Review 13:I can't find fault with this hotel
Review 14:We used the hotel as a stop over on our way home from Cornwall. The room was large and nicely decorated. The view from our room was stunning! The bed was comfortable and the food excellent.
Review 15:ALL staff were really helpful and friendly Food was fantastic value for money North Hill was clean, modern had great views and was huge (worth the upgrade) The best value for money stay in a long time
Review 16:The wi-fi reception was patchy in our room.
Review 17:The room had a great sea view and a lovely bath. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and spoiled us when they found out we were newlyweds. The choice of breakfasts was good, and the full English was well executed.
Review 18:Nothing!!!!!
Review 19:Great rooms with sea view and smashing en suite. Breakfasts to die for and what a choice!. Staff were the best we've come across in a very long time.
Review 20:wasn't so keen on how the room was the wardrobe should be moved over and the cupboard to create a more overall effect in the layout of the room.
Review 21:very friendly staff, a well located hotel with parking, the breakfast was the best I had tasted very good quality products and you could tell.
Review 22:The hotel feels a little 'unfinished' and almost too quiet. Our room did not have an adequate mirror in the bathroom, and the shower stand needed attention.
Review 23:The food was excellent - imaginative and brilliantly presented. The staff were eager to please and discuss their work at the hotel.
Review 24:The unexpected dog charge. Also it was a shame dogs welcome everywhere but not the beach or local park
Review 25:The fact you can have dogs is a bonus although it was a shock to discover that I had to pay for them. No one mentioned a twenty pound charge per dog at any time until the moment I came to pay. I suggest the hotel makes such extra charges clearer. Otherwise, the staff were lovely and helpful....looked like they loved their jobs. Breakfast was gorgeous and well cooked. The rooms clean and tidy with a lovely view of beach and steam railway. Also its brilliant this is a training hotel and what ymca have done makes me happy to spend my money on such a worthwhile cause.
Review 26:On arrival, there were no signs to direct us to the reception desk. Whengiven my name and reference, even though I mentioned the details of theroom we booked, my wife and I were allocated the wrong room . When Icomplained, I was told there was a mixup with the booking caused bybooking.com, and I should speak to the morning staff to clarify theissue. I contacted you through my mobile, as I was unable to connect tothe Hotel's wifi, to explain what happen. When I enquired to thedesk on the wifi issue, I was told because the room was out of range!!!The following morning, after breakfast, I went to the reception desk todiscuss the issue, which by then I believe they received communicationfrom yourselves, and we were told that we will be moved to the rightroom by the afternoon, when guests already occupying the room have left.We left and came back later in the afternoon and were then moved, aspromised, to the correct room. When examining the room, we discoveredthat a bath towel was missing, so I went downstairs to requested anotherone to be placed in the bathroom. It was done on the following day, butthe complimentary items were not replenished, and when I asked, I wastold that they ran out of biscuits, I also had to collect more tea bags. The room was equipped with two radiators, which we are unable to switchon when the room is chilly in the evening, so I requested a portableheater which we got and used. On the third day when back to the roomafter a day out, no biscuits or replacement water bottles, and we wereback to one bath towel. The fourth day the toilet rolls were not toppedup, so I had to go to the reception to collect another roll, and thistime no bath towels at all. There is no facility to lock the room frominside, no information pack and no 'Don't disturb/ pleaseclean the room' sign available to use.
Review 27:We liked the location of the Hotel, the size of our chosen room and thefriendliness of staff.
Review 28:Well considered, tasteful, fantastic décor throughout. The location couldn't be better: view of the sea and steam trains across the road! Breakfasts were delicious, staff were friendly, always helpful and smiling.
Review 29:as a disabled person i would have liked a lift but on arrival the young lad who checked us in kindly carried our heavy case up to our room.
Review 30:the friendliness and passion of all the staff. the food was ASTOUNDING. meeting the whole team from the kitchen was a bonus as they explained how the dishes were prepared and by which member. What a refreshing experience we truly appreciate all their efforts. Big thank you to them all.
Review 31:There was no bad experience but although most of us appreciated the high quality of the food we didn't think it appealed to everyone.
Review 32:Excellent location staff extremely helpful nothing too much trouble.
Review 33:Porter didn't take luggage. Breakfast took an age to come out. Toast stone cold by the time breakfast arrived. No lift. Garden chairs in the room.
Review 34:The location. Bathroom was lovely.
Review 35:The hot water in the bathroom took quite a while to come through, in fact several minutes. Also there were 2 beach chairs in the room which although topical weren't very comfortable
Review 36:The presentation of the hotel, very light and airy and the pleasant attitude of the staff who were also very helpful
Review 37:The Wi-Fi connection was not great, came and went.
Review 38:The staff were really welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing- beautifully presented, different flavours and combinations, really great mix. Hotel was tastefully furnished and very comfortable with lovely 'seaside' touches
Review 39:Breakfast. Every day same vegiterian break fast. Should think other options.
Review 40:Location. Charlie and Dave were excellent onsite manager. They were very helpful.
Review 41:Had to wait for waffles for my son, but they were worth waiting for. Delicious!
Review 42:Lovely rooms and staff. Huge beds. Easy parking. Would stay again and recommend. Wish we had tried food in evening.
Review 43:The wifi was very patchy in the rooms and kept disappearing. The pillows were a little hard for me and I would have liked an option of green tea in the room, but these are minor points and overall we had a very good experience
Review 44:The staff were absolutely fantastic, very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, it is clean and bright and the rooms are comfortable.
Review 45:Great position on the seafront and directly opposite the steam train station. Very clean all round, spacious bedroom and well appointed bathroom. Great breakfast. The icing on the cake however was the staff...nearly all young but all very motivated, friendly and helpful...a credit to the hotel
Review 46:Breakfast was a bit of a problem, wrong orders for a couple of tables, but the staff were very apologetic, and we were happy to be patient and be part of their learning experience.
Review 47:Love the concept and value of a charity running this hotel for the local young people of Minehead to gain experience and work for qualifications in the hotel business.
Review 48:As enough space was given in the room, a chair and a little table would have been nice. Sometimes, attention to detail was not quite met (empty soap dispenser in bathroom,
Review 49:- staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful - breakfast was very good - Location is stunning and easy to find
Review 50:No lift and not advised of this when booking. No bin for used creal packets at Breakfast table. Wifi hit and miss especially in bedrooms
Review 51:Location of hotel and friendly staff.
Review 52:Comfortable well appointed rooms, polite friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. This venue is one of my favorite places, it offers a premier position in Minehead at a very competitive price!
Review 53:We had to leave !!!
Review 54:Absolutely lovely hotel right by the beach. Hotel is in a modern décor that is very comfortable and relaxing. Fantastic rooms and bathrooms - super clean!! Staff were amazing - genuinely charming, polite and helpful - especially Felix at Reception. Breakfast was AMAZING - full cooked English breakfast without the grease!
Review 55:The double-bed could habe been a bit more in size...
Review 56:- very friendly staff - excellent service - great meals & breakfast (honest: close to a 5*-star dining experience) - good location - stay there... and you definitely have to dine there.
Review 57:We arrived a bit later in the day and we were walked to our room, everything explained and all questions answered without fail. The room was great, plenty of space and again, everything you would want from a hotel room. Location is excellent.
Review 58:Nothing bad about my stay
Review 59:Everything was ideal. staff couldn't be more polite and helpful.l Fabulous service at all times. Ryan, Felix and Charloie helped me as I had bad back, above and beyond their duties. There dedicatgion, friendliness was excellent
Review 60:We only have one slight criticism and that is the fact we had a double room but only one chair so one of us had to sit on the bed.
Review 61:We stayed in a deluxe room with a sea view which was excellent. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice.
Review 62:The staff were so lovely and made our stay on our honeymoon travels the best night of all. The hotel is stunning and to discover the story behind its opening was breath taking.
Review 63:The staff were very friendly made us feel at home the room was lovely with an excellent view overlooking the sea overall 10 out of 10 I would recommend this hotel to anyone
Review 64:It was very disappointing there was no irons- really need those if you're a hotel.
Review 65:The warm welcome was so nice after a very long drive. The hotel room was wonderful with along views! Staff were very friendly and helpful although lots were in training- but we all need to start somewhere!
Review 66:Needs a few more hooks in bedrooms and behind tModern and well appointedhe bathroom dors
Review 67:The food was first rate, made by youngsters overseen by the Chef Paul. Almost michelin standard!
Review 68:We had a great night in Minehead helped with the excellent hotel with very polite staff. The manager told us the story of the hotel and we were very suprised at what they had done. We can honestly say we will definately go there again.
Review 69:The bedroom we chose was only a standard double but it was small and the bed was a small double, but we should have checked that.
Review 70:My breakfast was like fine dining...micro herbs and all ! the whole hotel is freshly decorated and bright with very good enthusiastic young staff.
Review 71:Room was basic but enough for a really short stay like we did. Lobby and restaurant felt emptied for a Saturday night in a bank holiday weekend, don't understand why for a friendly hotel like this.
Review 72:Staff were excellent and helpful, breakfast was fantastic! Paid evening meal was well worth and cost was reasonable. I would go there again for food and enjoy the company of the friendly staff. Location can't be any better. Our room can see the sea!!
Review 73:My eldest child has autism and the manager made a concious effort to makr him frrl comfortable and at home.the manager emaild me befor out stay andssked if theyre was anything she could do to make out stay as comfortable as possible.this type of cars if going above and beyond makes you feel at ease and welcome.the manager also seemedtoha etimeto stop what shewas doin weneverwe wonderd through reception to see if my familywas ok and just to talk to the kids.all of the staff members wer amazing with us from The waitress at breakfast to the gent who took our bags to our room.the room itself was clean, spacious and very comfy.the ensuit bathroom was also fantastic.
Review 74:A little disappointed that the restaurant was not open over the Bank Holiday weekend. I understand that Sundays/Mondays are generally a quiet time but i think a Bank Holiday should be made an exception.
Review 75:Lovely room, friendly staff & comfortable surroundings.
Review 76:There was an intermittent noise throughout the night, which disturbed our sleep. (We were offered an alternative room, but preferred the original one.) A 'fridge and telephone in the room would have been good.
Review 77:Our room was large and light. it was in a prime location facing the see. the staff were attentive and pleasant. There were plenty of drink sachets.
Review 78:The staff were all very helpful and friendly, excellent service and accommodation. Excellent standard of cleanliness with a modern contemporary chic feel about the whole place.
Review 79:YMCA hotel staff training hotel, hit and miss on level of service. Breakfast took a very long time due to staff absences. Bath room was not heated!!
Review 80:Location and bedroom view
Review 81:The breakfast waitresses had an awful attitude towards the service of the customers and we would not want to return based on this experience alone. It's a shame as these rude waitresses have let down this hotel and all the other staff.
Review 82:The decor was nice and the whole place was clean and simple.
Review 83:There was nothing we didn't like. The only thing I'd suggest to make the room more comfortable would be an extra chair and a small table - the room is definitely large enough to accommodate the extra furniture.
Review 84:We stayed in a lovely large room overlooking the steam railway and the sea. The hotel is clean and brightly decorated and the staff were particularly welcoming and helpful - would definitely stay again when visiting the area.
Review 85:users should be aware that there is no lift, so if you are on the top floor you have great views but there are 40 steps to negotiate. very limited car spaces, but council car park alongside hotel which will add to holiday costs
Review 86:spacious bedroom, clean. very good location. very good food, helpful staff.we enjoyed our stay thanks to all of the staff.
Review 87:Nothing really
Review 88:Proximity to beach and West Somerset Railway. Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Great to be able to support the YMCA who are making a go of it and offering apprenticeships and training.
Review 89:Can't think of anything negative to write. I'm pretty sure they couldn't have dine much about the weather!
Review 90:Really friendly and helpful staff. Lovely view over the harbour, fantastic food - we even took photos if it, the presentation was immaculate.
Review 91:the bed wasn't great and there was rubbish in the parking area which could easily have been tidied up.
Review 92:Friendly staff, breakfast was pretty good and the location was good for exploring the surrounding areas and enjoying the spectacular coastal walks on offer. Good value for money - Overall we were very satisfied with our stay and would visit again.
Review 93:Didn't realise dinner only a few days a week. Not open every day. Small bed in upgraded room.small thing but no mirror near a plug to use hair dryer.
Review 94:Great location for town seafront and steam railway. Car park next to hotel £5 per day. Nicely decorated clean hotel. Staff go above and beyond to assist. Breakfast lovely. Dinner only a few days a week. Not open every day.
Review 95:The Beach Hotel was beautifully decorated. Lovely, airy, light throughout. It looks especially welcoming at the moment, as its full of festive decor. 'I really love the modern but comfortable feel'. Our room was 'a room with a view'. It was again beautifully decorated. Very clean and the bedroom had a huge comfy bed, looking out to the choppy sea's. We had everything we wanted. And the staff were second to none. They could not do enough for us. Manager Charlie made sure everything was just right, even down to the lovely table at dinner. Friendly, cosy and very welcoming family atmosphere. We love this area and will stay at The Beach in the future. Thank you guys.
Review 96:We were not happy with one thing there, when I checked the bed there it did not have a mattress protecter on. We always look for this as we do not like sleeping on beds with out one .. We did stay there, as the sheets were clean, very clean
Review 97:The service was great, the staff were excellent, very helpful at all times. We were well looked after. The hotel was very very clean. Food was great. Room was a little small. But our stay there was great. Great clean, friendly, place to stay..
Review 98:The only fault (and it is minor) the second night of a stay was quite windy and the window 'whistled', but a small adjustment and it was sorted!
Review 99:Very friendly/informative staff with a great central location with sea views!
Review 100:Room on the small side but not a problem
Review 101:Modern stylish rooms Friendly and helpful staff Tasty breakfast, cooked to order + cereals, fruit and freshly baked pastries Seaview Complimentary toiletries and refreshments in room Bargain price
Review 102:No lift, no telephone in room, one day without room being serviced. I paid £92 per day for "Luxury room" Everyone else booked direct and paid £50 for same rooms as economy were not ready
Review 103:The location, the bathroom, the room size
Review 104:The scrambled eggs were like chopped boiled eggs that had been fried in something grey... The omelette was also grey!
Review 105:Friendly staff and good location. Room was very large.
Review 106:I was on the understanding that the beach outside the hotel was dog friendly NOT as having to walk miles to find out not dog happy
Review 107:The hotel was lovely, staff good although some extra training would help. The dogs made very welcome
Review 108:no desk or flat surface in the room for writing, lack of soundproofing of the rooms, poor service at breakfast including no teapots, milk jugs or sugar bowls, no fresh fruit or yoghurt, cooked breakfast was slow to arrive and the standard did not justify the wait.
Review 109:Spacious room but it was a luxury room, location and view of the steam railway and sea. Excellent decoration and colour scheme.
Review 110:No disabled access to get to the rooms but it's a small hotel so beyond their control
Review 111:the service was 5*. Nothing was too much trouble. They made our stay so relaxing They accept dogs. The breakfast was very nice too. The hotel is opposite minehead station for West Somerset railway and next to the hotel is the beach. Will be coming back next year!
Review 112:Leaving to come home! Minehead is a nice town with plenty of shops and facilities and things to do. The only small downside is that Butlins are only 20 minutes walk away and they attract numpties on binge drinking holidays it seems. We met a few drunks dressed up in costumes of all kinds and barely able to stand up... but all were in good spirits, even polite and well natured. We diod not encounter any problems at all. We woud certainly stay there again.
Review 113:The Hotel is close to everywhere, clean, bright, spacious and welcoming. The staff were all very freindly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. When we got to our room it was smart and beautifully clean and comfortable. The bathroom was luxurious at the price and very comfortable. We had a great view of the coast and local atractions, even two Steam Trains. It all made the place interesting and well appointed. We had travelled down from Essex to see a show at the Regal Theatre, just 5 mins walk away so we didn't need to drive. Parking was close by and it only cost us £5.70 to park from Saturday evening until Monday morning. As this is a recently refurbished building in an established part of town and not a modern out of town build, it would be hard to suggest how they could make it any better. Well done Staff, you made our short stay a great success, Thank you!
Review 114:In the total, hotel was a little sad. Minehead is quite an anonymous town.
Review 115:Room and bathroom were very big. Nice toiletry articles (even body cream). Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was good.
Review 116:the entrance is offputting with bare boards in reception and a feeling of neglect, which is a pity as the hotel is very comfortable.
Review 117:A clean functional hotel at good prices .Room was good size bathroom modern., breakfast was good.
Review 118:Very boring choice of cereals if not having the full English breakfast, would have expected a choice of some croissants/fruit perhaps. Waitress service, although friendly, was very apathetic and slow. Waitress also seemed to have to cover reception/bar at the same time so some long delays in being served. Waitress chatting at reception/bar instead of attending to the restaurant.
Review 119:Loved the blue & white decor throughout. Good sized room with good view and beautiful bathroom. Excellent location for the town. Friendly staff. Full English breakfast. Very good evening dinner.
Review 120:Having to pay on arrival, instead of departure. No hot water. Bare room, no phone to reception, nor folder of information. The smell of paint.
Review 121:Pleasant staff Sea view
Review 122:I asked the evening elderly porter for an extra pillow ,he replyed i dont know where they are
Review 123:Over all staff were very friendly, the room was cosy new bathrooms at a reasonable price for for the tasty breakfast included, We will come back again many thanks thomas gavin
Review 124:The breakfast didn't have much variety would like to have had more of a choice.
Review 125:I liked how the hotel was next to the beach, the town and by the arcades so didn't have to travel far for the entertainment. Great view from the room.
Review 126:Requested a quiet room but was woken up by people on the roadside quite a few times and the sea gulls but I am a light sleeper. This wouldn't effect most people. Sound proofed windows would be great!
Review 127:Friendly staff, great location and good value for money
Review 128:Next to stream railway and beach! Refurbished hotel reception and hallway, however rooms look dated. Breakfast wasn't great...staff looked new and service was slow. Reception staff friendly though.
Review 129:The breakfast was rather disappointing. No choice instead of cereal and when asked was not offered anything. The manager did say on leaving, that with prior notice they could.
Review 130:Accommodation was excellent.
Review 131:The hotel was fab, especially the staff, who made our stay really special. Room was beautiful, with a view over the sea and breakfast was yummy. Wouldn't hesitate to reccommend.
Review 132:The noise throughout the night from people heading back to Butlins up the road and then being woken up by street cleaners at 5.45am. The Faulty Towers breakfast experience, when guests arrived for breakfast at 8.00am (as advertised) and the staff turned up at 9.00am At £120 a night we did feel it was a bit over priced for B & B
Review 133:The location on the sea front and the size of the room that had a brand new large comfy bed. All the rooms were large including the reception and dining area, but this made the place feel a bit sparse and empty, lacking a homely feel
