Reviews for Tokyo Palace Hotel

Review 1:The location is nice as well as the rooftop view of the Jaisalmer fort. The Staff are good and helpful. The rooms are clean and have impressive architecture.

Review 2:My room's window couldn't be closed and there's a furnace to burn garbage just under it. My room stank like burned garbage day and night.

Review 3:Terrace with a view. Friendly staff.

Review 4:The swimming pool was dirty and is not very inviting. Rooms facing the streets are very noisy (traffic, very loud mosq and hindu music at 6 am..)

Review 5:Beautiful room. Nice bed. Good food in restaurant.

Review 6:Common toilet is upstair in front of reception...

Review 7:It's close to the old city and very good hotel, i spent only one night in dorm but it was really quiet and clean!

Review 8:Location is ok, close to the fort, but from my point of view it is certainly better to be north of the fort, as south part is gloomy at night. Breakfast ok, but very long.

Review 9:Friendly staff, even if some are too pushy in the way they try to sell their excursions. Room is ok. I greatly appreciated the free pick-up at the train station with my name on a sign.

Review 10:The stuff were very friendly and helpful. I was sick while staying here, the stuffs took good care and also opened a room after check out time, which was a big help for me. The hotel also has a restaurant and the food over there is very good.

Review 11:Cleanness could be better.

Review 12:The staff did more than what we could expect to make our stay in Jaisalmer a great and unforgettable experience Our train left at midnight so they offered us a room with no charge to rest and even take a shower. Good food, friendly service, convinient location, private power plant (for when the town runs out of electricity), convinient location, nice the rooftop restaurant , laundry service and cozy atmosphere made sour stay really really pleasant. Than you guys _/\_

Review 13:Walking every morning and evening to the washroom at the lobby area on ground floor when the dorm rooms were on lower ground.

Review 14:Great and friendly staff! Khan and Navil were just really kind and generous. Clean and quite a good location to access the fort nearby which is less than 400m away. The view from the rooftop was stunning both during the day and at night. Very reasonable price for dorms although the toilet could've been nearer to the rooms instead of crossing over the main lobby on the ground floor. However, everything was nice! A memorable experience during the stay most definitely will return!

Review 15:No wifi access in our room which we weren't aware of at the time of booking, but not a massive issue.

Review 16:My sister and I stayed in a dorm room at Tokyo Palace Hotel. Dorm room was clean and with lockers. The bathroom and shower were on another level and the wifi couldn't be accessed in the room only in the lounge which was a little bit inconvenient. The rooftop restaurant made delicious food (highly recommend eating there) and there was a beautiful view of the fort when you ate. Sahki helped us feel completely looked after for our entire stay, offering us chai under the stars of a night, and was happy to answer any questions we had. Overall a really charming place to spend your time in Jaisalmer! Thank you!

Review 17:Toiletries were absent not provided inspite of repeated requests. If you go for a walk around the surrounding streets, you may endup in the middle of pigs (non-hygenic). WIFI and Power problems.

Review 18:Spacious rooms, nice decoration, good room service and limited but good food varieties.

Review 19:Very open and welcoming hotel. It is a comfortable place to chill at any time of the day. Lots of communal space to chat with fellow travelers. Thank you for the train station drop off Mr Sakhi.

Review 20:There were a couple of hiccups with the safari timings but they have been resolved - preponed for me.

Review 21:Great and helpful staff all through the hotel.Amazing food in the restaurant, pick up service from the station, swimming pool, complimentary Masala chai.

Review 22:Outside of the fort. It takes about 10 minutes to go inside of the fort. Do not go out alone in the evening or early morning!

Review 23:Value for the money. Clean and quiet place with nice staffs.

Review 24:Little pushy on taking camel desert safari, several times. Rooftop restaurant expect you to order food mainly during traditional meal timings only, while they do still serve you with smile during other timings as well. Wifi not fairly reachable at all corners of the hotel.

Review 25:Nice hotel with well decorated rooms, but dorms in basement was not that good. Nice staff. Good view of fort from rooftop. Cleaner and good facilities for this price. Rooftop restaurant has good food and staff. Wifi was good & fast.

Review 26:Bugs in the room, the toilet was not so clean, AC was not installed nicely (the water flow lead to the bathroom floor).

Review 27:The rooftop restaurant was great, rooms are spacious, staff was there to help when needed (fix the existing problems as good as they could).

Review 28:The staff were very helpful and there was no hard sell to take camel tours. Pick up and drop offs from the train station were complimentary and very appreciated. The food from the kitchen was good value and fine. The location is 5 minutes walk to the fort.

Review 29:People are nice, Mr. Khan the owner and the Tunisian general manger (I think his name is Nabir) are eager to help you about whatever you need.

Review 30:Everything was great, Thank you guys:)

Review 31:Nothing as such.

Review 32:It was a great stay at Tokyo Palace. We even booked our safari through them. The day we went , weather was very turbulent and we called up the hotel guys who sent car immediately. Even the rook top restaurant is very good.

Review 33:The staff were fantastic. They were so friendly and helpful. They offered us so much lovely chai. They were also extremely kind to let us use our room to clean up after we had been on camel safari and checked out.

Review 34:Swimming pool was completely green. We used it anyway and the bottom was "supiciously soft"

Review 35:Confortable, big, clean rooms Confortable, big and clean bathroom Good restaurant Camel safaty with the hotel was a good experience

Review 36:Dirty bathroom, poor wi-fi connection, smoking is allowed in lobby, dirty swimming pool

Review 37:Friendly staff, big rooms, clean bed sheets, free train station pick-up.

Review 38:Restaurant could be a bit better, and had a minor issue with the AC in my room (it didn't work for a whole day).

Review 39:Pick up and drop off from train station was great. Nice spacious room.

Review 40:Having to wake up so early to get the train back to Jodhpur! But the staff were really great at getting us there on time.

Review 41:Lovely hotel, very tastefully designed. Such helpful staff, picking up and dropping off guests at the railway station - no easy feat at 5.55am when coming in from/ going to Jodhpur! Great location with lovely views and just a 5 minute walk up to the amazing fort. Nice little swimming pool and lovely rooftop restaurant.

Review 42:Pool was a bit dirty, but not a big issue for us though!

Review 43:Excellent hotel. Smart place with great rooms, really nice roof top terrace and excellent food, and really attentive staff. All at a bargain price!

Review 44:The wifi at the first floor is way to slow. The pool needs some cleaning.

Review 45:Great hospitality, very good food at the restaurant, good tours and a nice design of the hotel. Very good value for the money

Review 46:My stay in Tokyo Palace was so relaxing and fun. I had interesting discussions with the staff about their culture and the city, they helped me a lot to book my train ticket. Thx everyone for the good time and hope to see u soon .. sub kuch melega ;)

Review 47:Wifi in the room didn't work

Review 48:room was nice, comfy bed. Food in the hotel was ok, the western options could do with some work mind. Swimming pool was nice, they would even shut the door so it was like your own personal pool. Staff all very friendly and helpful.

Review 49:The A/C wasn't strong enough for the very hot summer days in Jaisalmer.

Review 50:Loved the cleanliness, beautiful hotel and room decorations, great rooftop restaurant and view of fort.

Review 51:The pool was dirty so that you couldn't swim in it. The safari wasn't that good, but that is hardly the hotels fault.

Review 52:We got a pickup service from the railway station for free. The staff and the owner were very friendly and helped us to book a camel safari. When we came back from the safari we could take a free shower.

Review 53:Wi-Fi was slow and unstable. They were pushing hard on booking the hotel camel safari. Sadly we found it pretty boring. If we could do it all over again we would try someone else who offers more attractions. Everyone offers "non-touristic" safari but it seems that it means nothing, actually it will be super touristic. Restaurant staff tried to cheat on the bill (the food was good, though).

Review 54:Very nice and helpfull staff who cares about their customers, arranged bus tickets for us and escorted us to the bus. Spaceous and nicely decorated room, it didn't have A/C but suprisingly the fan was enough. Very clean hotel.

Review 55:Staff were wonderfully helpful, e.g. arranging bus tickets on the last day and personally walking us to the right pickup spot and staying to ensure no hiccups. Pool was great, atmosphere was great. Unexpected collection from train station, very welcome. This stay helped to turn around the India holiday for us. Terrific team.

Review 56:Airconditioning didn't work.

Review 57:Staff very traveler friendly and helpfull. Great rooftop tarace and super delicious food! Flexible regarding last minute cancelling! Free WiFi! Thumbs up!

Review 58:See above

Review 59:The staff was great - they picked us up from the station and brought us there again without us asking for it. I also liked the decoration. Only the wifi didnt work occasionally, but I guess such a trip is about more than just the wifi ;)

Review 60:Only I didn't like that wasn't really safe to go back to the hotel at night and that they were putting a lot of chemicals to the pool, but they listened to my complaints :( and tryed to improve it! Thank you guys!

Review 61:The manager and team were really nice to me. They kept my luggage while I was for one day at the dessert and also they gave a room for rest, shower and alowed me to use their swimingpool next day without charges. I had a train that last day really late and they took me to the train station free of charge! I highly recommend this hotel :)

Review 62:they really have to take more care of the cleaning and maintenance of their hotel. The room was dusty, the shower and the bathroom really dirty. We had to ask to change the bed sheets because they smelled! dirtyThe balcony was full of birds escrements, and the view was on a small street full of garbage with porks eating them.

Review 63:good location, friendly staff

Review 64:we stayed in room 113 at the top floor just next to the restaurant and it was very noisy in the evening, since they played loud music until late :-(

Review 65:good value for the money! a great view of the fort from the restaurant

Review 66:Nothing, except they want to sell tours in the desert, but if you can manage to do it by ur self, there's plenty of cheaper equivalent options out there !

Review 67:Location off the fort , clean, comfortable & spacious rooms; rooftop restaurant serves delicious food. They also provide free transport from/to railway station.

Review 68:One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in , great value for money, great staff, lovely rooms, very clean, with great food served at the roof top restaurant which overlooks the fort, made a lot lot of new friends while I was at the hotel, I can guarantee you , u wont regret staying at Hotel Tokyo Place.

Review 69:I found the staff in this hotel super helpful and interested in good communication. Comparing to all the other accommodations during my 2 months of India trip, this place is highly above the average.

Review 70:this was the best room we stayed in for the whole trip in India - The manager was soooo nice also and even dropped us off to the train station equipped with loo roll for our journey - book the room on the first floor as you go up the stairs! it was fab

Review 71:wifi wa couldn't cover the room. and the bed sheet was not that clean

Review 72:hot water is great, much better than we have experienced in Agra and Varanasi. Staff are friendly, they picked us up at the train station at night.

Review 73:If one thing I have to say, because of the structure of the building, rooftop restaurant's noise will affect the floor down below especially evening hours.

Review 74:Friendly and helpful staff. Good food at rooftop restaurant. And the view from the rooftop is excellent.

Review 75:We were woken very early one morning by lots of music being played in an adjacent property and were kept awake by music another evening. It was Republic Day so perhaps people were celebrating. It did spoil our sleep but it was obviously wasn't the hotels fault.

Review 76:Staff at the front desk were helpful and well informed. They even insisted on taking us to he station when we left after they saw we were going to walk there. New rooms at the top of the hotel were lovely! Good restaurant - but breakfast can be a little slow so make sure you leave lots of time if you are going off on a morning camel safari The hotel felt very safe and professionally run

Review 77:Nothing. It was perfect!

Review 78:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful roof top terrace with a nice view. Large, clean & beautifully decorated rooms. We felt very welcome.

Review 79:Poor wifi - never worked in the room. The staff also try very hard to sell tourist packages which are marked up.

Review 80:The staff are real friendly and prompt with service. The terrace restaurant offers a grand panoramic view of the fort which is a 10 mts walk. Free pick up and drop off to station is real helpful.

Review 81:Nothing

Review 82:Comfortable stay nice rooms clean washrooms friendly staff excellent location walkable to jaisalmer fort...friendly staff..nice rooftop restaurant

Review 83:Staff in the hotel were very helpful, as we traveled with two young children, they made everything to make our stay easier and comfortable. Les employés de l'hôtel ont tout fait pour nous rendre le séjour agréable. De fait, un voyage avec deux enfants en bas âge n'est pas toujours évidents mais ils ont tout fait pour nous simplifier la vie.

Review 84:Unfortunately my friend got sick on the first night we spent here so we had to cancel our camel safari. the hotel staff once again were very kind and always ready to help me and my friend. thank god no doctor was needed and she recovered by herself right on time so we were able to travel to Jodhpur. getting sick while traveling in India is no good whatever the place you are, but this was definitely the best place for one to be able to recover. No wi-fi in the rooms.

Review 85:Tokyo Palace Hotel was a big surprise for me and my friend since we were both travel for a long time and we were desperately in a need of a nice and comfy place to rest and chill a little bit cuz we were both tired of Agra and Jaipur. We found we had someone waiting for us at the train station which was really good, the Hotel is very close to Jaisalmer train station (like 2 minutes by car) and is by far the best place we stayed while traveling through India. The rooms are very beautiful and very very well decorated! The staff is amazingly kind and always ready to help, the food is absolutely great and also the views to the famous Jaisalmer Fort. Toilet is very chic with all the typical amenities you will find on western bathrooms.

Review 86:nice hotel with friendly staff, very nice view from rooftop terrace, excellent food in restaurant. Also, owner is really helpful and actually upgraded our room from deluxe to suite as one was available. We would defenitely recommend this place to others.

Review 87:Picked me up from railway station late at night. Rooms are clean and spacious. Staffs behave well and take good care of you. They arranged excellent desert safari for me. Unlike rest, they don't force you to buy their tours. Swimming pool is clean. Roof top restaurant has excellent fort view and good food. There is no other budget hotel like this.

Review 88:Minor things only: - Our rooftop room was very nice but the very hot weather (36degC in Oct) was too much for the airconditioner. - Wifi worked best outside the room, in the restaurant & public areas.

Review 89:Very helpful management (Mr Khan): - Provided train station pickup & drop-off, booked our train tickets, upgraded our room. - Beautiful traditional stone/wood room decor. - Location outside the busy fort but only 10 min. walk there. - Very comfortable rooftop restaurant with very good food. - Even a small swimming pool. - Hotel-arranged camel safari (overnight) was very good.

Review 90:Service in the restaurant was so slow that after first breakfast I didn't bother any more. Small things with service such as there was no towel, toilet paper ready for me when I arrived - it all adds to being welcomed which was lacking here.

Review 91:Room was very comfortable and clean with good facilities and pleasant decor. The price was very good - considering it was the cheapest place that I stayed in in India it was very good.

Review 92:Awesome stay there...rooms are beautifully decorated..With lots of warm colors..and the rooftop restaurant is with great view..n most of all the swimming pool...gr888...

Review 93:Staff is very welcoming, each of them was very attentive, kind and gave good advice Rooftop restaurant serves excellent food and generous meals Camel safari was well organized and not touristic. Swimming pool very nice with hot weather. They gave a room after check out because we had a midnight train BEST hotel of our whole trip in India, I definitely recommand it

Review 94:Staff should improve their English, but this is not a significant inconvenience.

Review 95:Beautiful building and clean rooms. Staff and owner always willing to help. They not push you with sightseeing guidance, but helpful if you ask. They let you use their facilities (i.e., pool, shower...) if you leave the city in the evening or at night. Awesome roof top terrace for either admiring the fort or having dinner/a drink.

Review 96:The wi-fi was a bit slow in the rooms, but it worked fine in the lobby. Also, prices are on a higher side at the roof-top restaurant. They might seem okay to foreign travellers with deep pockets who don't mind paying high for good food, but budget travellers and Indian tourists might find it costly to shell out money. Also, the service at the restaurant was a bit slow.

Review 97:Almost everything!! The staff is super co-operative, and cleanliness is of highest standards and maintained at all times. You won't expect such a nice place to stay in a laid-back city like Jaisalmer where there are bogus claims by various hotel owners to woo the customers. Spacious rooms are beautifully done. We had booked a standard AC room, but they gave us a deluxe room at the same price, as it was available that day. Secondly, our train to Jodhpur was in the evening on our check-out day, but Mr. Nanga Khan (owner's brother) even let us stay in a basic room till 6 pm and even made available towels and toiletries. The owner stays in Japan, and he has brought all the international-standard facilities to this place. They offer free pick-up and drop facility from railway and bus stations for their guests. The roof-top restaurant is another added attraction, giving you full view of the golden Jaisalmer Fort. They also arranged our Desert Safari, Camel Riding, Cultural Dance Show and City Tour at a reasonable price. Did not use the swimming pool as there was no time to do so. We really enjoyed our stay at Tokyo Place and will go their again if we visit Jaisalmer again in future.

Review 98:I wanted to cancel my booking and replace it with an overnight camel safari tour through them but they refused to refund my money so I had to stay an extra night at the hotel and chose another tour operator for the safari instead.

Review 99:They let me keep my bags there while I went on a camel safari and shower after even though I chose to do the safari through another company

Review 100:rooms were a bit small

Review 101:Location was excellent..not far from the fort..roof top restaurant was good..had a great view of the fort..rooms were traditionally decorated..staff was friendly..

Review 102:- airco, TV not working all that well

Review 103:- loved the swimming pool - good restaurant, best pancakes I ate in India - location outside the fort is very convenient, wouldn't have wanted it different

Review 104:Wifi not available in the rooms, only in the main hall

Review 105:We were made to feel very welcome, the room looked really nice, good bathroom/shower unit. The hotel has a rooftop restaurant, I really enjoyed the spaghetti there, coffee is also good. The hotel offered a camel/desert tour, this was very enjoyable and not touristy at all

Review 106:There were issues with the AC, but the manager discounted my room due to this. The wifi only worked in the lobby. The pool was very unclean.

Review 107:Rooms were well priced and comfortable.

Review 108:Pool is very small and not very well finished

Review 109:Friendly and helpfull staff Good restaurant on rooftop with very reasonable prices, nice view on the old city Organizes camel and desert tours Good place to meet other travellers Pool to cool off after a very hot day Charming rooms

Review 110:Totally helpful staff. Picked us up from train station and walked us to bus station. Let us have a room to shower in when we got back from our camal safari. Manager rang hotels in other cities for us to help plan the rest of our trip. Very comfy beds.

Review 111:Made to wait for a long time to get the room( the room was already available I guess). No good restaurants near by to try authentic rajasthani food

Review 112:Heritage design, cleanliness and pick up/ drop from railway station

Review 113:No dislikes. Best hotel ever!!

Review 114:This is the India where everything is really possible. The staff is very helpful and the owner is great. When we got back from a camelsafari we got to use to pool while waiting for the train and he gave us free transport to the station. The rooms look great and are very clean. By far the best hotel I ever stayed at.

Review 115:The food from the rooftop restaurant wasn't great at all. I would suggest avoiding it apart from perhaps for breakfast.

Review 116:The rooftop restaurant looks out over the fort and is extremely comfortable. There is a good size pool covered by shade (definitely needed). The hotel organised us a camel safari which was great. The rooms were comfortable and clean.

Review 117:The WiFi signal needs improving. It works well in the lobby though.

Review 118:Everything! The staff is very helpful. They arranged my pickup and drop. Cleanliness is maintained at all times. Good value for money. Spacious. Swimming pool is decent.

Review 119:The food wasn't very good. Nowhere near enough loungers for the pool. Wifi doesn't reach rooms it's only in reception area. The toilet in the reception area that you are to use if staying the the dorm was used by staff and was filthy in the morning!! (Smelt as bad as the train toilets.) Disgusting.

Review 120:The pool would have been lovely if it had enough loungers. The decor was nice.

Review 121:Very nice staff. excellent room, very comfortable & clean. The food of the roof restaurant is very good & the cook is very lovely too. The camel safari is wonderful, they offer us a very good price & we all have a great time in jaisalmer. Their smile make us feel warm & we all love Tokyo Palace very much.

Review 122:Wifi a bit temperamental at times but still usable

Review 123:Great view of fort from rooftop, close to fort, easy walking distance, lovely comfortable room. Free Pick up from train station except when we arrived there were five different people with signs for Tokyo Palace four of which were fake, so if getting picked up find out which one is real before landing! Would stay again..

Review 124:Nil

Review 125:The camel rude arranged by the hotel is awesome

Review 126:excellent hosting... nice staff and food beautiful view from restaurants....

Review 127:don't go for outing/safari these thing are money suckers not value for money.

Review 128:city is not clean

Review 129:Very nice place. Beautiful and cosy. Though new building it looks authentic. Diplomatic owner.

Review 130:The owner and the staff are really nice ! You can ask Dany anything, he was a great help for this nice trip in JSM.
