Review 1：Sadly we required a twin bedded room -which was not that big - and there were huge noisy extractor fan pipes outside the frosted glass window. They did go off at night but started up again early next morning - so no lie in !!

Review 2：Furnishings, decor and relaxing ambiance. Beautiful building and a lovely setting.

Review 3：The room in the Gatehouse was small, the bed uncomfortable and the traffic noise was noticeable. Unfortunately, not a good night's sleep.

Review 5：Personally I would prefer not to have the bath and sink in the actual bedroom near the bed. Like to have a proper separate ensuite, although some people might like it. Would request it next time!! Xx

Review 6：All the staff were so friendly, helpful and made it a pleasure to stay there. Especially the waitresses at breakfast.

Review 7：The evening meal took time to arrive at our table. We ordered the meal and it was about an hour later - not what we quite expected.

Review 8：The atmosphere of the place was excellent. The staff including the owners were very welcoming. We enjoyed our overnight stay (our little dog enjoyed the stay also) and we are coming back for another overnight stay.

Review 9：Cleanliness - score brought down by flies and cobwebs. Lawn croquet - old, weathered, incomplete, broken therefore unavailable Bar decor could do with a facelift to make it a real boutique hotel. I like starched articles, bed linens etc, but bath towels were too hard.

Review 20：My only complaint was that our room overlooked the bins, and I assume the back door to the kitchen. With the window open, which we needed, we could hear and smell everything going on in the kitchen.

Review 23：The professionalism of the staff. There was a mix up with my booking - my fault entirely, but it was sorted quickly and professionally and, above all, with a smile.

Review 28：Asked for double room and got a twin .Rooms were very small and beds were as small as they could be without being a childs bed my husband is 6ft 1 and his feet were off the end of the bed .Bar staff looked like they were forced to be there and really not like to smile .

Review 34：Long wait for service in restaurant in evening. People on next table left without receiving their desert. There seemed to be a large shooting party staying. this may have caused the waiting times for service. we stayed in room 15 which was only a few feet from the main road in a small out side group of 4 rooms. decour very nice but room small. We had no complaints about this room other than its location within the complex and size did not warrant a Superior classification. In spite of the above we would happily stay again.

Review 36：Very limited to choice (not even all the digital terrestrial channels) - at these prices I would really expect the sky or virginmedia ends package). Towels - initially the room had quite small bath towels. These were replaced with larger beach towels on request but again I would expect these as standard - they a re at economy hotels like PremierInn! Wifi despite having a network extender in the room (which gave a ver strong wifi signal) we couldn't actually connect to the Internet through it! The manager came to investigate and took the extender away for replacement but the latte r never turned up and no note or explanation was left. Even in the communal areas the wifi was hit and miss. Mobile reception is awful. Whilst this is not the hotel's fault they could investigate getting a mini base station from the mobile operators (or having a full tower on site) Glass walls/doors to toilet and shower room - very disconcerting. Yes there blinds but these do not cover the whole of the glass panels!

Review 37：The room was clean and tidy. The staff particularly the italian(?) waiter are very friendly and obliging. The bed was very comfortable - not too soft but not as hard as a rock either! The food was absolutely excellent. My wife has her steak very well done and this often results in her getting a dry or actually cremated piece of meat. Here, the steak was cooked perfectly - still juicy without any pink or bloody areas but not in any way burnt!

Review 39：The breakfasts and dinners were first class. And the afternoon tea was a delight. The room was cosy and comfortable. And the staff were very attentive and friendly.

Review 40：Lighting in the restaurant was so "discreet" that we needed a torch to read the menu! Also in the room, we lacked proper reading light. We only managed a WiFi connection downstairs, not in our room.

Review 51：The staff on arrival were engaged in 'other stuff' and therefore the welcome was not particularly welcoming or friendly. However the lady who showed us to our room was one of the two who served us in the restaurant, and was very welcoming. The room was very warm and when we opened the window there was a smell of cooking coming from the kitchen. The bed was very soft. Having stayed in a similar type of hotel in Bath, two nights previously, where the breakfast was excellent (home made bread, great selection of fruit, yoghurts, muesli et.) the breakfast at the Hartnoll was rather standard and the pastries tired looking so we didn't have any. On checking out, we had an efficient but again rather cool 'thank you' - we felt that the reception staff saw us as just another punter.

Review 52：The staff in the Restaurant and Bar were excellent. The food served at Supper was also excellent. The location was very easy to find. The room was very well presented with a good modern bathroom. The hotel is set in very pleasant grounds.
