Reviews for Stones Hotel Bar and Restaurant

Review 1:That we could only stay for one night

Review 2:Really friendly staff, lovely room, comfy bed and shower was fab. Breakfast was spot on,fresh, hot and far more than we could eat. We will definitely be returning when we next visit our family in Minehead. Good parking too.

Review 3:The shower in our room was just not going to be substantial enough.very plasticy and controls flimsy.asked to pay in full before seeing our room.

Review 4:Overall very clean and comfortable atmosphere.very helpful staff and very hard working.excellent food in the restaurant and very comfortable rooms.

Review 5:I would have liked longer there

Review 6:I was made feel very comfortable, after arriving later than expected they still managed to provide me with a hot meal. Breakfast was very good.

Review 7:Some of the curtain came away from the rail when we tried to pull them across. The parking area was no easy to find- some advice on how to reach the car park would have been useful. It was noisy with people using the front of the hotel as a smoking area -until about 04.00 hrs

Review 8:The hotel is well situated for the sea front and town. The staff were helpful and friendly and were quick to welcome us and sort out the rooms. The rooms were clean, a good size, had ample storage and the bed was comfortable

Review 9:Staff overworked at breakfasts. Running around getting orders wrong. Long waits for cooked breakfasts. No fresh fruit or weetabix! No tablecloths and sticky tables

Review 10:On the high street with shops bars and restaurants

Review 11:The location was perfect, they allowed us to check in two hours early to get ready for a wedding and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was really good too. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 12:Staff very friendly, nothing too much trouble. Spotlessly clean room, very comfortable bed, fantastic breakfast, very modern decor, would definitely recommend!

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:Very very pleased with our choice - not been to Minehead before and we chose the best location for our stay - thanks to all the staff they are very busy but very professional - meals lots of food and good

Review 15:Would prefer a room with a king size bed. Hair dryer/sockets too far from a mirror. (female gripe) Sad Sky sports channels not in the room, only in the bar. (This is only minor niggles to me, may not affect others)

Review 16:Excellent position for trains & buses. Manager Matt very very good. Remainder of staff very friendly, hekpful and efficient. Woud stay there again if in Minehead. Traditional breakfast huge, & dinner very good.

Review 17:The hotel was in excellent location 1mins from sea front. The food was excellent the breakfast was fantastic and plenty of it.The staff were very friendly and helpful.A very enjoyable stay.

Review 18:The hotel is above a working pub and on a road with a few others so it can get a little loud in the evening if you are not joining in!

Review 19:Very nice location, nice staff, hotel, food. Car parking.

Review 20:We stayed the night in room 23 which was above the kitchen so we had a huge extraction fan outside our bedroom window which was an eye sour & very noisy when on.

Review 21:Where the hotel is situated is ideal for a walk around the shops & also close to beach and other imenities. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful.

Review 22:Only downside was loud disco music till late on a Saturday night, but maybe that's just me getting old.

Review 23:Staff were attentive, decor pleasant with a good selection of beers. Useful offstreet parking for bikes.

Review 24:The shower could be a little larger, But would probably be fine for the average traveller.

Review 25:Plenty of space in my room. Very good breakfasts and dinners. I ate there each night. Good helpings. They also do lunch.

Review 26:Small thing.. Shower could have done with a bit of TLC.

Review 27:Staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you and we're extremely helpful. Rooms Clean & Comfy. It is a local bar also and seems popular. Not noisy and easy going. Thanks for putting the Rhinos on the big TV's as well for the family. :)

Review 28:Shower cubicle a bit on small side

Review 29:Friendly staff, lively atmosphere in the pub but could not hear any noise from bar in our room even when there was a DJ one evening.

Review 30:Room was sparingly furnished, no wardrobe just a recess and single rail for hanging clothes. Shower was similar to those found in mobile homes, all moulded plastic, space saving and small even though there was ample room for a proper shower cubicle. Perhaps the room is unfinished...

Review 31:Good breakfast menu although 8:30 start is too late. Service was slapdash on occasion.

Review 32:The room windows could do with blinds because they overlooked the Avenue. The curtains needed to be drawn if you wanted to change. Double glazing would cut out traffic noise in the mornings.

Review 33:Conveniently situated with own car park. Manager helpful and keen to know how we enjoyed our stay

Review 34:minor point - the shower cubicle was a bit flimsy

Review 35:Hotel looks to have been recently refurbished. Room clean and comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were lovely. Staff very helpful. There is a bar downstairs but noise didn't carry up to my room.

Review 36:The weekend we were there, Minehead was taken over by stag and hen parties attending an event at Butlins. There was no trouble but it was very busy. If you're looking for a quiet weekend, you may like to check what's on.

Review 37:They did not have enough staff to cater for the busy bar and restaurant, staff were friendly but a long wait for our food.

Review 38:Location and room set out (double bed with a seperate room off, with a single bed for our 11 year old son).

Review 39:The rooms are above the bar so there was a little noise up to about 11.30pm, but after that it was fine.

Review 40:There is onsite parking. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very nice indeed and comfortable. The Wi-Fi is free, and the restaurant food whilst not fine dining was very nice and good value for money. Much nicer than staying in a larger chain hotel.

Review 41:Bed was quite lumpy. Had to wait til 8:30 for a cooked breakfast.

Review 42:Located on main street. Very friendly staff. Recently decorated rooms. Warm showers. Decent breakfast.

Review 43:Being close to the clientele at the bar within ear shot of foul language. Had to order meals at the bar as serving staff few and far between on Saturday evening

Review 44:Breakfast food was good, room comfortable

Review 45:Nothing!t

Review 46:The rooms were comfortable, well decorated and very clean. We asked to move to a back, quieter room as my husband is a light sleeper and this was no problem.

Review 47:Although the breakfast was good, when asked for coffee a cappuccino was brought to each of us...? Personally I prefer a black cafetière.. The heating didn't come on until around 6 so if you came in earlier to get out of the cold, you were still cold!

Review 48:The location was good, most of the staff were friendly and helpful.. The breakfast was lovely - me and my partner are fussy eaters and they were very accommodating.

Review 49:Slightly noisy late at night as location on the high street but nothing to put us off staying again! Would recommend.

Review 50:Location was excellent, staff very friendly, room lovely, bright and clean. Evening food was very good.

Review 51:There are two upper floors in this hotel and no lift. To be noted if you have mobility issues.

Review 52:Well presented accommodation throughout. Good choice for breakfast. Pleasant staff.

Review 53:Great accommodation with room split into three areas, ideal for older children. Modern, clean rooms with all usual facilities. Friendly and polite staff. Great breakfast! Located 3min walk from the front and ideal for Dunster Castle and exploring Exmoor. We went start of week in Easter so quiet.

Review 54:Arrived, no parking available, single room too small ( not even anywhere to hang coat), too noisy (like a disco),

Review 55:Food decent, premises recently refurbished, but needs a decent manager to get a grip.

Review 56:Big hotel with lots of rooms but limited car parking. If they had only painted lined spaces there would be lots more room and not single cars taking up enough room for 3 cars.

Review 57:Very nice comfortable room. Good service with helpful friendly staff. Great cooked food. Convenient location.

Review 58:didn't have any but only stayed one night

Review 59:we were very private in our room and could,nt hear the traffic or music It was a lovely room with all the facilities required and was better than some 5*hotels ive stayed in

Review 60:Nothing we could fault, a little on the higher price for location but was school hols.

Review 61:This 3 bedroom family room was excellent for our needs. 3 tv's, excellent accomodation, clean and good quality linen. Good restaurant, large menu. Breakfast lovely and good choices. Staff very helpful.

Review 62:The bed is not at all comfortable, while I admit I am a big man the mattress just completely collapsed under me no springing at all our bed at home works the bed in the next hotel we stayed in worked this one did not .

Review 63:Near the front, very clean and modern in a refurbished building

Review 64:Car blocked in by an arrogant driver who thought he could park anywhere, staff didn't really take control and sort, it was left to my wife to find the driver and get the car moved so that we could make dinner for my fathers 92nd birthday.

Review 65:Friendly, clean and the food was good quality.

Review 66:My partner and I were at minehead for a fiftieth birthday party, we needed somewhere close to the venue, which was small and friendly, we achieved this by booking with the Stones, i would stay here again and recommend to friends.

Review 67:The only complaint we had was are room was very cold and the on suite was freezing so bad that neither of us showered the heated towel rail didn't work and the window was slightly open and we couldn't shut it apart from this we had a lovely stay

Review 68:Very clean and comfortable room. The staff are very friendly and make you feel so welcome, which is great when u travel on your own. I will definitely stay there again.

Review 69:On arrival our room was cold hotel staff advised us to turn up heating which we did, on returning later that evening which was quite late we were very dissapointed to find the room still very cold matching the temperatures outside of -3. After a very cold and uncomfortable nights sleep we complained to reception who said they would rectify the problem which later that day they did. Very dissapointed that no reimbursement was offered after we suggested a one night refund for the worst nights sleep we've had but staff seemed to avoid the question of a refund.

Review 70:The was very cold and the bed was very uncomfortable with springs sticking out. And someone had picked there nose and whipped it on the wall

Review 71:The hotel was well set out And breakfast was nice.

Review 72:Small car park awkward for estates

Review 73:Clean and comfortable room Lovely soft pillows Shower cubicle was large(2 person) plus built in seat Very nice Decor Very pleasant staff Full English is plentiful and delicious

Review 74:Wi-Fi - I was told that Wi-Fi did not need an access code but I could not connect without one, I only found out when too late to return to reception to ask. Lack of sleep due to a noisy party in the bar till 2am. Car park already full on arrival. No separate hotel guest lounge.

Review 75:Very good room, helpful staff and good breakfast.

Review 76:Single glazing and old windows at front meant the room was noisy late at night from customers on the patio and then again first thing in the morning from delivery and refuse lorries.

Review 77:Room was comfortable, staff and breakfasts were very good.

Review 78:There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 79:The hotel and staff were delightful, we truly enjoyed our stay and the breakfast menu catered for all of us. Fabulous.

Review 80:Only a small detail but not really enough room to hang up towels. Towel rail too small.

Review 81:We stayed in a family room with 3 small children which featured 2 separate bedrooms and a spacious living room with 2 extra beds. The staff were very friendly and there is nothing more we could have wanted. Highly recommend this hotel. Dinner in the evenings very tasty and large portions.

Review 82:Very very good breakfast and lots of it fry up cippers smoked haddock toast as much as you can eat. Last time I satyed Zi was in room 16 little bit loud Friday/Saturday night this time I was in room 21 and did not hear a thing

Review 83:Noisy. Duvet too heavy. Do not eat an evening meal there. Breakfast was o.k.

Review 84:Recently refurbished rooms. Excellent shower and comfortable bed, if a bit small.

Review 85:Bigger shower room and possibly double glazed window to keep outside noise down

Review 86:Location very good.excellent breakfast.friendly staff, bar and restaurant decor very good

Review 87:Fish and chips served with cold peas and chips! Mat at top of main stairs stained with bubble gum embedded. Needs changing

Review 88:Very good bed and excellent shower. Breakfasts good with good choice.

Review 89:small carpark. but we managed,

Review 90:We can't fault the place, the rooms were spotless, very comfortable and well eqiuiped.. The staff verry friendly and helpfull, A good menu and the food was superb and very well presented. We will be coming back!

Review 91:If I was being very picky I would say that there was no electric socket near the mirror, could do with another shelf in the bathroom and the TV would be better on the wall. But these are very minor points

Review 92:There was nothing not to like about the hotel. It was very clean, nice size bedroom and bathroom, friendly helpful staff, the breakfasts were very good and tasty with a lot of choice as were the main meals

Review 93:if you are looking for place to stay in minehead this is it . the staff were very helpful the hotel was spot less the rooms were first rate the food was very good there is nothing i couldd say that was bad i will definitely return

Review 94:the last time I was in minehead this place was the York, so when we pulled up I was shocked but a nice shocked, we had just got married on the Friday and came with friends from hull, the hotel, staff and food was lovely, our rooms were beautiful and very clean, we are coming back to stay and will be booking there again, even though we only had a couple of days we really enjoyed our stay, THANK YOU all so much.

Review 95:Car parking was a bit if a trials sliminess parking was used by bar patrons and staff alike. Would pay to arrive early to secure a park which is not ideal.

Review 96:The hotel was very comfortable and the breakfast was very good.

Review 97:nothing at all.

Review 98:accomodation/location/comfort/politeness/staff/service/nothing to much trouble/quiteness at night/cleanlyness.

Review 99:this hotel appears to be wildly overpriced, I paid £86 a night for 4 nights in August and when I asked at hotels locally was quoted at least half that amount for equivalent accommodation. Use booking.com for one night and look around for better value when you get there, these internet sites are a rip off.

Review 100:Despite being on the main "high street" through town, and above a busy bar, the room was pretty quiet. Close to the promenade and all shops, bars and restaurants. Spacious, clean and a very good and plentiful breakfast choice. Managed to get parked in the car park on all three days of my stay.

Review 101:Was not made clear on traditional breakfast you should do your own toast if not wanting fried bread Very noisy in morning the bar area outside was being swept at around 5.30am and then at 7am council were cleaning road with noisy road sweeper machine lovely room 17 but noisy in morning

Review 102:Room lovely food very good staff very friendly very modern nice and clean parking small but room was made for us

Review 103:Parking a little on the small side, fits about 8/10 cars. First come first serve.

Review 104:Great location. All members of staff from arrival until we left were great. The visit was a last minute much needed getaway and we were really pleased with everything. Thank you.

Review 105:Shower water pressure a bit low.

Review 106:Staff, location, superb selection breakfast menu and food well prepared and plentiful. We also had lunch, excellent ! Very good value for money.

Review 107:Room too hot - that said it was a lovely very warm day. Was able to open sash windows and let in a nice cool breeze.

Review 108:A clean pleasant hotel very near the sea front. After a long journey it was nice to be able to eat in the same place we were staying. Good food choices and very tasty. Also enjoyed having a quiet drink in the bar.

Review 109:Hot breakfasts only avalable after 8.30, I had a meeting at 9 so came down and had cereal/yoghurt/coffee etc. A self-service toaster might be nice for people who have to get away before 8.30. Everything was fresh, clean and well laid-out though.

Review 110:Nice rooms Excellent Staff Eveything worked properly

Review 111:??

Review 112:Everything!
