Reviews for Northfield Hotel

Review 1:Not a bad experience but at 6'3" and 70 years of age we did find the furniture a little low!

Review 2:The cleanliness of the room, the comfort of the bed and the wonderful food.

Review 3:Room was smaller than expected. Armchair was in the way of the bathroom door, keeped hitting toes on the leg of it when going to the bathroom in the night. The room was superior double.

Review 4:Pool and sauna. Near the beach.

Review 5:noisy in the morning - sounded like cleaners cleaning rooms at 7am on a Sunday!

Review 6:rooms were clean and had good facilities. flexible with checking in times as I arrived late.

Review 7:Slightly pricey for a lower ground room.

Review 8:Great jucuzzi and steam room. Beautiful hotel. Like stepping back to Edwardian times (and I mean that in a good way). Best gardens I've seen at a hotel. Parking area.

Review 9:The whole hatel was very dated and even though I am in my seventies the clients did seem a bit decrepit.

Review 10:The position and car parking facilities were good. The staff were very pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfst was good.

Review 11:Very small old lift and also bathroom was old. Floor boards creaked when walking on them. The hotel needed need bringing up to date.

Review 12:It was close to friends living in Minehead. The view from the dinning room window was great, also the gardens were very nice.

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:Lovely hotel, visited with my partner and elderly parents. Room good, food good, staff very pleasant and not too far from the sea front. Would recommend. The old folks loved it too.

Review 15:One half of the dining room was very dark, but we were quickly moved we when asked to the brighter side.

Review 16:The location of the hotel was excellent. No need to use car. Staff helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.

Review 17:TV small and reception awful. Many channels breaking up. This was probably due to the rain attenuating the signal but that's when you need a TV. Suggest getting a booster amp for the aerial or trying freesat rather than freeview?

Review 18:Nice comfortable room with an excellent view down the coast - through the rain.

Review 19:Very nice, clean and friendly hotel. The staff were very helpful, and the location is excellent for the centre of Minehead and access to the main A39 road.

Review 20:The hotel was well situated near the shops and sea front and very handy short walk to the railway station. Particularly welcome in our room was the fan as the room was a bit warm.

Review 21:There was no facility for laundry and ironing. Although the staff did our washing we feel that a proper laundry service should be available at a hotel like this. Traveling light with minimum clothes presents a problem if you cannot have laundry done.

Review 22:Very Good service

Review 23:Room was not as good as previous single I had stayed in. Jacuzzi was not working. Staff didn't seem quite as friendly as on my first stay in April. Similarly food not quite as good.

Review 24:Peaceful. Lovely gardens. Good atmosphere. Very good location.

Review 25:A very convenient location for our weekend activities, adequate free parking, very helpful and welcoming staff, lovely views, complimentary wine in bedroom. A very clean and quiet room. Beautiful gardens. It was a pleasure to have staff treat you like proper guests.

Review 26:could not stay longer due to our work commitments

Review 27:it was a lovely room the little touches made such a difference really relaxed the staff were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble, great local knowledge

Review 28:That I had to leave so soon!

Review 29:Having the pool to myself. The large room with fabulous views, really comfortable bed and thoughtful extras. The food and good service. The Chef's marmalade. Nature that surrounds the hotel, going to sleep to the sound of an owl and waking to the sound of seagulls and the smell of the sea.

Review 30:Overheard waitress commenting to colleague that patrons staying more than a week must have more money than sense!!

Review 31:Comfortable room with excellent food and beautiful grounds.

Review 32:Bedroom was in the basement !! Offered another but was small and above the kitchen, where the staff were smoking. The food was awfull i.e dehydrated salad, tartar sauce had brown skin on it, beans served at breakfast were stone cold !!! Avoid this place

Review 33:Room too hot and windows only opened fully so couldnt leave them open as had child with us. Tried to charge us £5 extra for 7 month old even though brought our own travel cot and she wouldnt be eating breakfast! This was waived though, thanks.

Review 34:Nice friendly hotel staff and good breakfast clean and spacious rooms. Great location

Review 35:The room was very comfortable, and the staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and approachable. The hotel is in easy walking distance of the town centre, though in a peaceful location. There is a large free car park, and pleasant communal areas and gardens for guests to use.

Review 36:No real bad experience however coffee was always weak Lack of any draught beer/lager in bar

Review 37:Excellent food and lovely gardens Spa facility was good Staff helpful and friendly

Review 38:All of the family enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. Also, breakfast was very tasty and in big portions, and it was very close to the see front and town centre.

Review 39:The pool facilities are a little tired and the sausage baguette we had in the evening seemed to have reheated sausage left over from breakfast, which wasn't very pleasant. However the freshly cooked omelettes were very tasty.

Review 40:Bed was very comfortable, powerful shower in the en-suite and nice soft towels. Staff helpful and friendly and breakfast choice and quality very good.

Review 41:Friendly staff and very clean. Lovely little extras like coffee(with cream!) in the bar after your meal. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room were also fab.

Review 42:Things left in the room from previous guests. For the price I thought it would have been a bit better especially the bedroom, I just felt the hotel lacked somethings, the little thngs, espcially for the price.

Review 43:The location & the gardens & the views. The bar menu & service from the manager there most helpful & manners excellent, plus breakfast reception & cleaner staff.

Review 44:Only issue I hd was the soup for my starter at dinner which was bland. The main course however was delicious. I also think the round serving staff could do with a little more training.

Review 45:The location , friendly staff and very comfortable.

Review 46:Lovely views, plenty of parking, attentive staff and excellent breakfast. We were visiting friends in the area so did not partake of the evening meal.

Review 47:I had a little illness whilst at the hotel and the staff were particularly comforting and helpful. Thank you

Review 48:We had a particularly nice stay .The hotel was great and the staff very attentive and efficient. Ideal location relative to areas of interest to visit.

Review 49:We had to change rooms after one night, and we were warned by the hotel that the web-site had made a mistake.

Review 50:the excellent staff. The swimming pool and the dining room staff.

Review 51:The presence of dogs around the hotel - I just don't like dogs and should have checked before I booked!

Review 52:The availability of a fitness room and pool

Review 53:The toaster was broken and did not brown the toast which we found funny But I feel it should have been sorted out we were stayed for three day and it did not get fixed. It did become tiresome

Review 54:Friendly helpful staff and good food

Review 55:Confusion regarding breakfast tables made us feel uncomfortable. The waitress serving that morning ignored our request for tea I guess because of this issue. Again we was approach during the evening by I guess the Manager. Again we felt very uncomfortable. All guests are allocated a table on arrival which they use until they leave. We sat at the table allocated to us!!!!!!!! Overall it was not sorted out in a professional manner.

Review 56:Beautiful garden with free pitch and putt. We loved the swimming pool and steam room.

Review 57:Oonly one issue which wasn't the fault of the hotel. Butlins, further round the bay, was having a "Rock & Soul" weekend and the bass music bounced around the bay till well into the early hours.

Review 58:well situated with lovely views of the bay, delightful gardens, good sized rooms with large comfortable beds. bathroom had a bath and shower, can't beat a good soak after a days walking. food was very good quality and staff friendly and helpful

Review 59:The fact we had to sit under the stairs seating area with our dog, although we had to walk over areas we couldn't sit to get to our room! Our dog was quiet but hens in a nearby property were very loud

Review 60:The fact we could take our dog for £8.0 per night

Review 61:Friendly staff and very welcoming. Not like 'an hotel chain', this welcome was genuine. Super room with views across the lawns to the sea less than 150 yards away. Sun shine helped make this a memorable stay.

Review 62:The location of the hotel only minutes from the sea and the town centre was great. Breakfast was excellent. The room was spotlessly clean with a lovely, comfy bed.

Review 63:£30 charge for 8 year old sharing room excessive.

Review 64:The family room was clean and spacious and the hotel had beautiful gardens and lovely public rooms. It had a private house feel which was refreshing compared to chains. No mobiles allowed in dining room.

Review 65:The breakfast unfortunately. My bacon was only half cooked and not hot and the scrambled eggs were very sloppy and not fully cooked

Review 66:friendliness of the staff and how cosy and holey if felt

Review 67:We tried three of the best quality rooms. Room 1 poorly laid out abd abke to hear tv and toilets from above and adjacent. Room 2 able to hear everything that was said abd much more very clearly. Roon 3 the chap next door snored. ....paper thin walls not impressed at all.

Review 68:The lounge

Review 69:Breakfast start could have been a bit earlier - say 7.30 am

Review 70:Location was very good Food excellent Plenty of nice public areas Staff very welcoming Traditional Hotel feel, with old style lift and 'proper' keys for the room

Review 71:Very wobbly Wi Fi

Review 72:The ambience and comfort. The cream teas. Teenagers enjoyed pool and mini golf. Food was good and imaginative. Good to actually see the desserts to choose from. Will trynto return next year.Mira W Milford on Sea.Lymington

Review 73:The only fault I recall finding was that the shower pipe was too short hence I had to bend my knees to shower.

Review 74:The hotel is well situated and was in walking distance of both the Church and the Reception venue for the wedding we attended. We particularly liked the ability to open windows. The swimming pool looked lovely but we did not have swimming gear with us.

Review 75:There was nothing that we did not like but if I were to chose one thing that I felt could be improved it would be to have a greater selection of beers in the bar. (although the wine list was excellent)

Review 76:Location of the hotel with access to the sea front through well maintained gardens. The friendly staff and attentive service. The rooms are spacious and most have sea views. Cleaning was faultless. The breakfasts are great and dinner reasonably priced with enough options to suit most tastes. The hotel has retained some period features which add character and ambiance. The hotel was nearly full at the time we stayed but found the level of service was not lowered to meet the demand and there was ample off road parking.

Review 77:Dogs needed to be walked on local roads as the local beach ( 200 yards away ) was "out of bounds" until 1st October. Some noise from Butlins across the bay.

Review 78:Beautiful, well presented hotel with plenty of safe parking. Closeness to outstanding countryside. Minehead is a pleasant town and only a short walk. Lovely gardens but "out of bounds" with our dogs. Excellent swimming pool. Good fitness room although we didn't use it.

Review 79:Liked everything. Food excellent, service always great. Ideal location and a friendly atmosphere. Lots of comfortable lounge chairs. Would definitely visit again.

Review 80:Minehead, but handy touring spot No draught beer Earliest start time for evening meal 7.0pm

Review 81:Good sized car park Very pleasant garden Only 5 mins easy walk to town Not overpriced with good menu range Sea view and newish furniture Quiet

Review 82:Me and my partner where celebrating our third anniversary and the king size bed we booked was actually two single beds pushed together which didn't aid for the most comfy able sleep. The hotel I would say is also for older people as opposed to young however having said that we had a nice calming, relaxing time with this hotel.

Review 83:The staff moved us room when we where unable to connect to the wifi which I was very greatful for, they where also very accommodating, friendly and seemed genuinely happy to help. The room was spacious and clean with bottles of water in our room on arrival and other nice little touches that make the stay more enjoyable. I would 100% go back but I would probably leave it until I was a similar age to the rest of the guests (60+)

Review 84:Lovely hotel with great facilities, very comfortable room, helpful and friendly staff. Good food - everything very clean - a lot of thought has gone into making your stay a good one.

Review 85:Bathroom although adequate needs updating, shower pressure quite low. Self serve toaster at breakfast is useless, best done in kitchen and delivered to table. Bed protectors noisy.

Review 86:Good sized rooms, friendly staff, comfortable lounge, pleasant garden and putting green, flexible menu and good food reasonably priced.

Review 87:That I hadn't booked myself in there too!

Review 88:Great hotel, traditional and made you feel welcome and valued. Nothing was too much effort. My parents, who the hotel stay was a gift for, couldn't fault the hotel in any way. Lots of space, big rooms, great pool, lovely gardens and really good evening meals at a good price. Thanks for giving then a great break.

Review 89:Being squashed on a two persons table at breakfast requesting a larger table the second morning and being given the same table aaaarrgghhhh!!!

Review 90:Ideal for our requirements

Review 91:The furniture needed up-dating.Pool a bit on the small side.

Review 92:Location of the hotel was exellent.Comfortable and clean rooms.Tasty breakfast, evening meal menu ok,not much to tempt teenagers.

Review 93:One very small point. Eating in restaurant, after main coarse, expected to leave table to visit sweat trolley to choose/collect sweat. ( A little annoying)

Review 94:Efficient, friendly, helpful staff, Accommodation very clean and comfortable,

Review 95:Had trouble sleeping due to the lack of Air Conditioning, and a room facing the sunny side, which meant it was insanely hot. But that's European countryside for you - there rarely is. Fortunately sleeping with the window open was fine, with no midges or noises. What I found a bit silly is that they hadn't even bpthered putting a simple fan in the room. Even a £20 fan would do wonders in the summer. Oh well. If you're used to rest-of-the-world high standards of A/C and travelling in the summer be warned.

Review 96:I really enjoyed my stay here and warmly recommend it! The hotel has all the English hospitality and friendliness you can ask for. The room is large and comes with a bordeline lavish range of freebies like candy, fruit, drinks and so on.

Review 97:Shame about manager/owner..whilst paying my bill he didn't once acknowledge either me or another customer who also was paying their bill...bearing in mind I did make eye contact with him, he looked away !!!!!....the place has lots of potential but seems to have been cheaply equipped.....a great shame.....also the attitude of the breakfast staff leaves a lot to be desired...so so abrupt and rude !!!!

Review 98:The receptionist Trina was excellent

Review 99:The breakfast staff very abrupt, very poor service. The gentleman inreception wearing a check shirt, who I assume was the manager/ownerdid not acknowledge any of the guests, in fact just talked to his staff. The loo seats are really cheap plastic and move about when sat upon. Itravel in uk & Europe and have experienced better quality facilitiesand service for a lesser price, including London, quite dissappointed,Sorry won't stay there again!!!

Review 100:The receptionist Trina was excellent. Views from room excellent, amountof facilities in room good but poor quality, a shame.

Review 101:No draught beer at bar which closed too early bottled beer was very expensive. Also when we arrived it was to late to get a meal in hotel and town even though it was only 9pm every where had finished cooking x

Review 102:Good food and friendly staff and in a nice location near the sea front . The hotel gardens are lovely and it was nice to have the pool even though hot tub wasn't working.

Review 103:Leaving Northfield Hotel on Sunday morning.

Review 104:The timeless air of a well-run comfortable hotel exuding a sense of relaxed well-being. The excellence of the staff in all respects. Our de-luxe room (well worth the extra!) adding the gloss that turns a pleasurable experience into a memorable one. Obviously the new owners have given much thought to this venture that deserves every success. At least a four-star weekend for us!

Review 105:Dogs not allowed in gardens or restaraunt and bar. Expensive.

Review 106:Comfortable bed. Great pool. Lovely views. Nice gardens. Good breakfast. Dog friendly.

Review 107:Nothing!

Review 108:Very welcoming and friendly. They let us check into our room early and when one of the family brought the room key back to London by mistake the staff were very understanding about it. Great breakfasts too!

Review 109:A lovely hotel with bags of character!

Review 118:Did not like eating in the corridor

Review 119:Room and gardens

Review 120:Breakfast quality

Review 121:Bedrooms Staff Location

Review 123:Good location, good food, good service, good staff, we will go back.

Review 124:Nothing about the hotel, but Minehead needs a decent restaurant

Review 125:Location and well run and managed, Old fashioned (in a good way)

Review 126:Friendly staff. Good car park. Great location.

Review 127:Pleasant bedroom. Very professional but friendly staff. Good breakfast & DELICIOUS marmalade made by the chef!!
