Reviews for Cromwell Arms Country Pub with Rooms
Review 1:There was never anyone at reception- we had to search the bar and restaurant to find a member of staff. The breakfast was very disappointing with barely any of the continental breakfast listed actually on offer.
Review 2:The room was very clean and comfortable.
Review 3:Everything was perfect!
Review 4:Lovely homely room. Nice and modern with a country feel. Comfy bed and beautiful modern bathroom. Friendly staff and reasonable priced room.
Review 5:We have stayed before and had a fantastic meal. This time the only dish we fancied on the menu had sold out so we ended up missing out the main course. Also a pair of previous guests socks were left in the drawer....told them, didn't complain but would have been nice to have both the above acknowledged with some gesture.
Review 6:Nice pub setting and rooms clean and modern.
Review 7:Lovely quiet room. Well equipped and comfortable. Very clean. Nice touches such as complimentary fudge and ale. Good location - easy walk to romsey town centre. Easy to find as on main road.
Review 8:Frustrated by the closing time of the bar. Was performing a concert in nearby Ringwood, and not being able to arrive back to the Cromwell Arms till about 10.40. The bar was closing and no last orders called. Disappointed as being guests of the hotel and would have liked a nightcap.
Review 9:Lovely rooms with an excellent cosy breakfast in front of the fire.
Review 10:Only thing that was disappointing was the size of the bed for a superior room. Was only a double bed (although comfortable)and just not large enough for our bulky bodies! Husband also likes to have a bath not a shower.
Review 11:Friendly staff in a modern hotel near to town centre, with excellent food in the restaurant. Large bedroom. Fresh coffee making facilities in the room.
Review 12:The service could have been better as we had a meal on the Friday night and had a long wait then had to remind the staff we were waiting to order. We were not asked if we required any further drinks and had to go to the bar also no one asked if the food was okay during or after the meal. When we checked out we were not asked if everything had been alright with our stay or even if we'd had a nice stay. Cobwebs in the bathroom.
Review 13:Lovely room and bar Good food if a little pricey. When we checked in we had a problem with our room and we were immediately upgraded . Very good service at Sunday lunchtime.
Review 14:To say we didn't like something is overstating it, but the bed was a little on the small side and the man behind the bar, a bit miserable.
Review 15:Room was lovely, really nicely appointed. Man on reception couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful.
Review 16:I enjoyed the unexpected welcoming touches in the room. The bathroom was spotless. Staff went to great trouble to ensure that all needs were catered for.
Review 17:It was too cold. The radiator in our room wouldn't come on at all in the morning. The restaurant area was cold too. Service in the restaurant was slow and inefficient.
Review 18:Great location in Romsey. Nicely decorated room with excellent linen and great bathroom. Food in the restaurant was delicious.
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:Plenty of parking. Very convenient for the New Forest. Spacious room. Good size bathroom with bathrobes. Adam gave us great local advice. Food and service excellent
Review 21:No air conditioning so room stayed too warm at night. Bathroom was a wet room designed for disabled. The shower floor tiling needed attention and no screen meant water could splash over a wide area.
Review 22:Excellent service from friendly and helpful staff, bottled water supplied in fridge, good food, comfortable bed and pillows.
Review 23:From the moment i called to book to say we were bringing a dog, the staff were welcoming and couldn't have been lovelier. The same when we arrived. We booked the place for convenience of location but the rooms, the food, the service, everything were absolutely perfect. Thanks
Review 24:This is an excellent place to stay by the river with exceptionally friendly staff. The rooms were named after local places which made it seemed very homely. They are on the ground floor with a comfortable feel.
Review 25:We were a little disappointed that there was no gluten free bread/rolls available, especially as we had given them advance notice of this special dietary requirement.
Review 26:Room upgraded on arrival which was a nice touch. Ample parking and the bar/lounge area had a good mix of people and a pleasant atmosphere. The food was excellent.
Review 27:Loved everything, such excellent friendly staff, spotless room, and stunning fudge and other free gifts. Excellent value for money, thank you soo much!
Review 28:Our booking, although confirmed by booking.com, was not on the system and we had to wait for a few minutes to find out whether a room was in fact available for us. This was disappointing, although the receptionist said she had had similar problems with booking.com.
Review 29:Excellent dinner, although more than we could eat, and excellent breakfast. The room was clean and well equipped and the shower room was spotless.
Review 30:Rooms comfy, our twin room had a bath/shower and electric fan + complimentary bottles of water and orange, toileteries, tea/coffee and biscuits. Small fridge in the room and could request iron and ironing board. Plenty of free parking. Centre about 10 mins away (walking distance). There's a stream and large park nearby which you can walk through to get to the centre,(ask staff for directions as it's not obvious from the hotel). Only 10 rooms which soon sell out, most (if not all) on the ground floor. Would stay here again.
Review 31:As some previous reviewers have experienced, we had requested spare beds in the rooms but this message had not got through. They were put up and we were told there would an extra charge of £20 per room. This was not charged in the end. The rooms were quite hot.
Review 32:Good location. Lovely rooms and restaurant. Friendly staff.
Review 33:poor beds - unstable, floppy feel to mattresses 2 dead light bulbs in room. Overpriced accommodation
Review 34:pleasant friendly atmosphere good standard of food
Review 35:I booked 2 single rooms through booking.com, but when we arrived my colleague had been allocated 3 rooms. I had breakfast included in the price and he didn't. This was not the Cromwell Arms' fault, but booking.com's system. Hotel staff happily sorted it out.
Review 36:Modern, very clean and comfortable rooms. Staff happy to deal with any problems.
Review 37:Upgraded as room we booked wasn't available which was excellent. We ate in the restaurant and food was excellent also. The breakfast was probably one of best we've ever had in hotel. All freshly cooked and top quality bacon
Review 38:The actual quality of the accommodation was first class with bathroom and bedroom finished to a very high standard plus garden view. Breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice - I was able to choose different cooked breakfasts on all three of the days we were there. Staff were especially helpful, friendly and attentive.
Review 39:Nothing bad, just the location a car in definitely needed to go anywhere outside the town, we flew down and did feel a little stranded.
Review 40:Lovely, cosy room, with comfy bed. We loved the curved bathroom door made it a little different. We asked for an early check-in as we were going to a wedding that day which they were more than happy to accommodate.
Review 41:Lack of attention to detail, we had lunch there, our food came in dribs and drabs, they failed to bring one drink, cheesey chips arrived after the rest of the meal had been eaten. Staff a bit aloof and just got the feeling of somewhat disorganised. Wouldn't have hurt the lady receptionist to break into a smile. Shame because lots about our stay was good but much could be improved with the general attitude/performance of the staff.
Review 42:Rooms to a very high standard, Breakfast was very nice, lovely location and a very pleasant environment.
Review 43:A very pleasant hotel. Rooms spotless, good size, providing all comforts including treats. Bed comfortable and food superb. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 44:Breakfast too expensive for quantity, choice of continental also very small. Pub had a limited choice of beer on tap which was disappointing.
Review 45:Decor in the room very nice, lovely bathroom, no noise in the room despite being close to road, pub food very tasty.
Review 46:The bed was too small for my partners height. Hair in the sink No breakfast included for a £90 night stay. Ash trays were not emptied daily. Bathroom door didn't lock.no window or fan
Review 47:Very preety. Perfect location.
Review 48:Bar staff were slow and didn't acknowledge me whilst completing a non serving function before attending to me.
Review 49:Relaxed atmosphere, overall quality. Dinner and breakfast were excellent.
Review 50:Busy road makes getting out of the car park during the rush hour tricky - no problems at other times.
Review 51:Nice rooms behind a fairly busy pub on the main road within walking distance of Romsey town centre. Reasonably well insulated from what is going on at the pub, very comfortable, friendly staff. Pub food was good, breakfast OK but nothing special.
Review 52:The bed a bit small - mattress sinks in middle.
Review 53:The Cromwell covers the essentialls well. Modern clean & comfortable rooms, easy access, instant wifi - no irritating passwords to navigate. Fresh milk in the room fridge, so tea tastes how it should! overall excellent value
Review 54:Mix-up over rooms should have been sorted much better and there was a reluctance to actually give us the rate we'd booked at. Poor lad was left to himself at breakfast for 14 which caused problems with breakfast orders, should have been prompter and eaten at the same time! Not geared up for larger parties.
Review 55:Rooms are really good if just on the dear side. The food is really good and pretty good value for money as well. Good local beer and very handy for where we needed to be.
Review 56:the Cromwell Arms excellent, beautiful clean. Comfortable rooms and great restaurant, Perfect stay for getting out and. About. The staff very very friendly and very helpful, lovely place to stay........
Review 57:disappointing menu in restaurant, had expected the Spring menu as per web site but this at end of April still not offered.
Review 58:excellent room with an outstanding en-suite.
Review 59:Sunday evening meal seemed like warmed up Sunday lunch; no bacon for breakfast on Monday. Couldn't find a shaver socket. Expensive for what it is. charged extra for breakfast.
Review 60:I liked the building and the relationship between rooms and the pub/restaurant. some staff were brilliant; others seemed disinterested.
Review 61:Unfortunately noisy most of the night. My husband was awakened by it. Possibly a bathroom fan left on by another guest. Also sour milk in fridge so no morning tea.! Disappointing.
Review 62:Nice room with good bathroom
Review 63:bathroom door did not shut properly
Review 64:all of the above + modern facilities and a good of range of drinks. after booking discovered they were on Channel 4's '3 in a Bed' and it won - I got brownie points for this from 'her indoors'
Review 65:Being picky, we aren't fans of having to pay an additional cost for breakfast. Also some areas of the restaurant floor needed a good sweep following previous guests departure. It had been a busy Easter Sunday although it was quiet when we arrived.
Review 66:The warm welcome and accommodating staff. They were especially helpful with our small dog allocating a good room and area in the restaurant for us to dine.
Review 67:We found the pillows uncomfortable but only a personal preference. The shower water was cold at 8:30am, but I'm sure if we'd have said something they would have sorted it for us
Review 68:The room was lovely and modern and clean and so was the shower room. The food was amazing, we had a 3 course meal, it was a bit more than we'd usually pay but was worth it.The main lady was really nice.
Review 69:Bedroom carpet and bed throw could have been cleaner.
Review 70:Good location with good sized rooms which were very comfortable. Food was very good and a nice atmosphere. A very nice River Test Way walk nearby.
Review 71:Breakfast not included which I didn't realise until after I had booked on line. Would only stay again if breakfast is included in all offer prices quoted and not as an extra.
Review 72:Friendly staff, lovely clean rooms. Received a very good dog friendly agreement.
Review 73:We couldn't stay longer.
Review 74:Absolutely no pressure. My wife got up for breakfast and explained I was tired and she was asked if she would like a tray made up.
Review 75:Nothing really - you just have to remember to lock your door as it doesn't lock on closing
Review 76:The staff were very welcoming on arrival the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom with shower was new and clean. The bar was buzzing with travellers and locals. We didn't try the food as we had already booked a restaurant elsewhere but next time we will eat in the hotel as food looked great.
Review 77:There was a small misunderstanding with information given regarding checkout times. I must emphasise however, that the hotel solved the problem efficiently and professionally.
Review 78:We really had a fantastic stay. The rooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated. The attached pub serves delicious food and has a wonderful cosy atmosphere
Review 79:The room temperature was a little hot for sleeping. A guest lounge would have improved our experience, though we recognise that the restaurant was out of use of this occasion.
Review 80:I loved the decor and comfort of both rooms, the friendly and helpful staff and the proximity to Romsey Town centre.
Review 81:Room was a little hot during next night.
Review 82:Lovely modern room and bathroom. Very welcoming staff. Loved the dressing gown and slippers. Great food. Would love to go back in the summer so we can enjoy meal al fresco.
Review 83:Bed douvet was too thick and hot. A second chair needed.also drawer space for clothes for a longer stay. Shower floor was slippery. a grab rail would be sensible
Review 84:A very attractive hotel and dining room.with good parking. and easy access. Derek and jill chandler
Review 85:Despite the best efforts of the staff wifi was unobtainable and the shower tap would fall off in your hand.
Review 86:staff were busy but they try to find their time for you, food and beer (guest ale) were great
Review 87:Breakfast yogurts poor/artificial. Change supplier? Walk into town a bit long - a drag coming back! Bath would have been nice.
Review 88:Lovely rooms. Clean and modern. Good, simple breakfast with adequate choices. Easy parking. Staff excellent and friendly.
Review 89:Bed was slightly springy (I prefer firm) Lack of soundproofing (noisy pub goers) but when we told management they dealt with it swiftly and we heard no more.
Review 90:Spacious room Chic spacious bathroom Comfy bed TV Tea and coffee Parking Location and proximity to Winchester The restaurant was good too
Review 91:The Cromwell Arms was very cosy and has lots of character which my husband and I both love. Our room was gorgeous. Very warm, very clean and all the facilities we needed plus more! The breakfast was very yummy and we feel it was all very good value for money. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!
Review 92:Connecting to wifi was not as straight forward as it could be.
Review 93:The cleanliness of the room was excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly. Have already booked to stay again.
Review 94:There was absolutely nothing to dislike .
Review 95:The food was exceptionally good . Could not fault anything and the room was so quiet and comfortable it was wonderful staying there. All the staff were cheery, friendly and efficient .There is also a lovely walk alongside the river leading into the town just minutes from the Pub.
Review 96:There is traffic noise, especially in the early hours of the morning. It generally wasnt an issue unless we got up in the early hours, and then it made it difficult to get back to sleep.
Review 97:The omelette at breakfast were delicious and we loved the curved wall of the bathroom, it was very quirky and fun
Review 98:Room can get quite hot and there was no option to the duvet on the bed. A top sheet would have been nice.
Review 99:Food, ambience the staff were very helpful to the young children in our party.
Review 100:If you're tall you might find the bed mattress a bit short.
Review 101:Very clean and stylish rooms, great meals and breakfasts in the pub, friendly and accommodating staff. Tea, coffee and kettle in the room, a good hairdryer.5min walk to the charming town of Romsey, free parking and wifi.
Review 102:Room quite hot, even with windows open. Would like top sheet instead of just duvet.
Review 103:Ambience, food, room, staff. Hotel very helpful to our young grandchildren aged 2 & 4 made them very welcome.
Review 104:the wait for food was too long for the quiet time in the resturant, and the table at the front of pub was to noisy with the road right outside window, but we were moved as soon as we mentioned it and without any fuss. Electric was out for most of 1 day we were there. this meant a very hot room, and had to make alternative eating arrangements. Not the pubs fault but a small discount shouuld have been offered.
Review 105:Rooms suberb ,nice and quiet. food was top notch and staff were very polite and helpful. overall 9/10
Review 106:. Rather bland menu. . Over heated bedroom due to excessive exposure to sun and very limited opening on bedroom windows. . No room fan or aircon
Review 107:The staff and their cheerful efficiency. Excellent bathroom
Review 108:nothing except awbridge was without a face flannel and toiletries whereas tytherley had both..
Review 109:the beds the pillows the food and the courtyard.and the staff

Review 122:The room and corridors were uncomfortably hot! Even with the radiator in bedroom turned off.

Review 124:The breakfast was poor. I had to ask for the yoghurt - no natural and what I was given was past its sell by date
Review 125:Warm
